To make Gold in Sandustry, combine Sand and Water to produce Wet Sand, feed the Wet Sand into a Shaker, then keep the Gold output moving to collection while routing Residue away. Start with one small, visible line and confirm both outputs clear before expanding.
What you need for the first Gold line
The starter chain is Sand + Water → Wet Sand → Shaker → Gold. The Shaker also produces Residue, so plan for two outputs rather than treating everything leaving the machine as Gold.
The available community guides support this basic chain, but they do not establish a current, authoritative ingredient ratio or machine yield. Check the recipe and behavior shown in your current game build instead of relying on an unverified number.
Build and test the starter factory
- Set up a small mixing area. Bring Sand and Water together where you can see whether Wet Sand is being produced. Keep the area accessible so you can spot a feed or flow problem.
- Feed Wet Sand into a Shaker. Use a short, direct route at first; a simple line is easier to inspect than a large factory with several machines.
- Give Gold a clear route to collection. Make sure the output can reach a collector or the intended collection point without being obstructed.
- Give Residue its own route or clearing space. If it accumulates beside the Shaker, it may obstruct the line and make production appear to stop.
- Run the line before scaling it. Watch both outputs. Add input or another machine only after Gold is being collected and Residue is clearing consistently.
Move materials only when transport is the bottleneck
Conveyors are an early option for moving materials horizontally. Launchers can move them vertically or diagonally. Add either when the working line shows a genuine transport problem, rather than adding logistics before you know where flow is getting stuck.

Expand by finding the actual capacity limit
As production grows, consider the whole sequence: Sand and Water supply, movement to processing, Shaker capacity, and clearing or collecting both outputs. A dedicated factory layout may use dedicated transport and additional Shakers, but the available guides do not establish exact throughput or a universally optimal blueprint. Add capacity where you observe a bottleneck, then test the change.
Compare possible layouts by whether Gold reaches collection, Residue clears without blocking the feed, and the material flow remains visible enough to diagnose. A more compact or larger build is not automatically better if it makes a blockage difficult to find.

Troubleshoot a line that seems to stop
- Gold is not appearing in your research total: check whether it is reaching the collection point; production and collection are separate parts of the route.
- Material is piling up near the Shaker: inspect the Gold path and the Residue route for obstructions before adding more input or machines.
- Wet Sand is not reaching the Shaker: trace the feed path from the mixing area and confirm the material is being produced and moved.
- The line works at first but stalls after expansion: check each stage—supply, transport, processing, and output clearing—to identify the first place material accumulates.
What to know before trying later processing
Community guides mention burning Residue, using a Kinetic Press, routing material toward Seeds, and further Gold processing as possible expansion directions. The exact requirements and yields are not sufficiently established to give dependable step-by-step recipes. Treat them as leads to check against the recipes and machine behavior in your current build, not as guaranteed instructions.
