Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
To make an Enigmatica 6 server, download the versioned Enigmatica 6 server pack that matches your clients, install 64-bit Java 8, extract the pack into a normal local folder, and run its supplied start script. On the first launch, accept the EULA, wait for the Forge installer and server to finish, close the server, and run the script again. Reserve at least 4 GB of RAM; the Enigmatica documentation says most servers need about 4–8 GB and recommends not running the server on the same computer used to play.
What Enigmatica 6 server software uses
Enigmatica 6 is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.16.5. The server, launcher profile, and every player’s client must remain in that release family. A current CurseForge listing identifies release 1.12.0 as the latest listed Enigmatica 6 release, uploaded August 13, 2025. Older server packs remain available, so do not simply download the newest file unless it is the same version your group installed.

The server pack contains the Forge installation files, mods, configuration, scripts, and libraries needed to run a dedicated instance. It is different from the client pack you install through a launcher. A vanilla server, a Forge server for another Minecraft version, or a server pack from a different Enigmatica release will not accept the same modded clients reliably.
Requirements before downloading
Hardware and storage
- Memory: treat 4 GB as the minimum starting allocation. The Enigmatica server guide describes typical usage as approximately 4–8 GB. Player count, loaded chunks, view distance, terrain generation, and other settings can push the requirement higher.
- CPU: use a modern processor with good single-thread performance. Modded Minecraft’s tick loop can become slow even when total CPU utilization looks modest.
- Disk: leave room for the server files, Forge libraries, logs, backups, and a growing world. World generation can consume substantially more space over time.
- Operating system: Windows, macOS, and Linux can run the supplied scripts, provided a compatible 64-bit Java runtime is installed.
Do not host on the same machine on which you intend to play unless it has enough spare CPU, memory, and disk performance. The official guide specifically advises using a separate host when possible.

Java version
Enigmatica’s Java guide requires 64-bit Java, and Enigmatica 6 is in the Minecraft 1.16.5 generation that uses Java 8. On Windows, use a 64-bit Temurin 8 installation; on Ubuntu or Debian, use a 64-bit OpenJDK 8 package. A newer Java major version can cause Forge or individual mods to fail during startup.
After installing Java, open a terminal or Command Prompt and run:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →java -version
Confirm that the output identifies Java 8 and a 64-bit runtime. If several Java versions are installed, the command may be using the wrong one. Adjust the system PATH or the Java executable referenced by the supplied start script so that this server launches with Java 8.

Choose the matching server pack
- Open the Enigmatica 6 project on CurseForge.
- Open the files or releases list and identify the client version your players will install.
- Download the Enigmatica 6 server pack carrying that exact version. The files page labels the current example as Enigmatica 6 Server 1.12.0 for Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge.
- Record the version number. Use it as the compatibility reference when installing clients, updating the server, and restoring backups.
Release listings can change. If a player already has a different Enigmatica 6 version installed, either install the server pack for that version or have everyone move to the same release before connecting.
Prepare a safe server folder
- Create a dedicated folder on a local drive, such as
C:MinecraftEnigmatica6on Windows or/srv/minecraft/enigmatica6on Linux. - Ensure the folder is empty before extracting the pack. Mixing files from another Minecraft server can make scripts and configurations ambiguous.
- Do not put the folder in OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or another synchronized location. The Enigmatica installation guide warns that synchronization software can lock installer files while Forge is writing them.
- Verify that the account running the server can create and modify files in this folder.
- Extract the downloaded ZIP directly into this folder. If extraction creates a second nested folder, move the pack’s contents so the supplied start script is in the folder you intend to run.
Install and run the server
Windows
- Open the extracted folder in File Explorer.
- Double-click
start-server.bat. If Windows displays a security prompt, allow the script only if you downloaded the pack from the official CurseForge project. - Leave the window open while the Forge installer downloads or creates libraries and prepares the server. The first startup commonly takes three to five minutes.
macOS or Linux
- Open Terminal and change to the extracted server directory.
- List the files and identify the supplied shell start script. Enigmatica packs may use a file ending in
.sh. - If necessary, make the script executable with
chmod +x ./start-server.sh, replacing the filename with the actual script supplied by your pack. - Run the script with
./start-server.sh(again, use the exact supplied filename).
Do not interrupt the first run merely because the console appears inactive. Forge may be downloading libraries, generating configurations, or creating the initial world files.
Accept the EULA and complete the first-run sequence
- When the server stops or prompts for the Minecraft EULA, open the generated
eula.txtfile in the server folder. - Change the acceptance line from
eula=falsetoeula=true, save the file, and close the editor. If the console presents an interactive instruction instead, follow that instruction and press Enter as requested. - Run the supplied start script again and wait for the server to finish loading.
- Look for a ready state in the console, such as the server reporting that it has finished loading and is accepting commands. The exact wording can vary by Forge build.
- Close the server cleanly from the console with
stop. The Enigmatica documentation describes closing the window after a complete first start and launching the script a second time as a workaround for an initial console-input problem. - Start the script once more for normal operation. Keep this folder as the permanent server directory; subsequent launches should not require repeating the EULA step.
Do not kill the process while it is saving the world. A clean stop command lets Minecraft flush region files and configuration changes.

Set memory and server properties
Allocate realistic RAM
CurseForge lists at least 4 GB for Enigmatica 6, while the Enigmatica server guide gives a usual range of 4–8 GB. These are allocation guidelines, not a guarantee of a particular player count. Allocate only memory your host can spare: leaving the operating system without enough RAM causes swapping and can make ticks slower than a smaller, correctly sized allocation.
Use the memory options already provided by the pack’s start script rather than replacing the script with a command copied from an unrelated Forge version. If the script exposes minimum and maximum heap values, set both deliberately and keep the total below the machine’s usable memory. After changing them, watch startup output and the operating system’s memory usage.
Recommended server.properties values
After the first successful start, stop the server and back up server.properties. The Enigmatica 6 installation wiki lists these recommended values:
Rank #4
- Skins! We have biome settlers, city folk, town folk, and more!
- The Nether and all its inhabitants. Fight Ghasts and make friends with Pigmen
- Cross platform play for up to five players between Pocket Edition and Windows 10
- Revamped touch controls, controller support, and a controller mapping screen
- Enhanced Weather effects! Accumulating snow and more
| Setting | Value | Purpose and caution |
|---|---|---|
allow-flight |
true |
Allows mods that use flight-like movement without the vanilla server treating it as cheating. |
max-tick-time |
300000 |
Raises the watchdog limit in milliseconds so a long modded tick is less likely to shut down the server immediately. |
level-type |
terraforged:terraforged |
Selects TerraForged world generation. Set it before creating the permanent world; changing it later does not convert an existing world and can produce a different generation experience for newly created terrain. |
Change one setting at a time, save the file, and restart the server. Keep the backup so you can restore a known-good configuration if a change produces unexpected behavior.
Let players connect
Match every client
- Install the same Enigmatica 6 release on every player’s launcher profile as the server pack version.
- Use the same Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge-based pack, not a similarly named release from another Minecraft generation.
- Do not add or remove mods casually. A client/server mod-list mismatch can stop the connection even when the version number looks correct.
- Have players launch the pack once before connecting so their client libraries and configuration files are created.
Local-network connection
For players on the same home network, give them the host computer’s private LAN address and the Minecraft port configured by the server. Ensure the host firewall allows Java or the server process to accept inbound connections. A server that works locally but not from another device is usually blocked by the firewall or is listening on a different interface.
Internet connection
Remote players generally need a reachable public address, a router port-forwarding rule to the host’s private address, and a firewall rule permitting the same port. Port forwarding, carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT), and firewall interfaces differ by router, operating system, and internet provider; there is no single recipe that works everywhere. If your provider uses CGNAT, ordinary port forwarding may not expose the server at all, in which case use a host with a public address or a managed networking solution.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
Only share the address after the server is running and the firewall rule is in place. Avoid publishing a home IP address in public channels, and remove temporary forwarding rules when the server is no longer used.
Backups, updates, and routine administration
Back up before players join and before every update
Stop the server cleanly, then copy the entire world directory and the configuration files to storage outside the live server folder. Include server.properties, the config directory, and any scripts or custom settings you changed. A backup made while Minecraft is writing region files may be unusable, so do not rely on a live drag-and-drop copy.
Update in a controlled order
- Announce maintenance and stop the server.
- Make a complete backup of the world and configuration.
- Confirm the target Enigmatica release and download its matching server pack.
- Install the new pack in a separate empty folder rather than overwriting the old installation.
- Review configuration changes and copy only settings you understand.
- Start the new server, check the console for errors, and test with one client before inviting everyone back.
Keep the old folder until the new release has been verified. Never assume that a world created by one pack release is safe to open in another without a backup.
Troubleshoot startup and connection failures
The server will not start
- Verify that the downloaded server pack and every client use the same Enigmatica 6 version.
- Run
java -versionin the same environment used by the script. Confirm 64-bit Java 8, not a newer major version or a 32-bit runtime. - Re-extract the ZIP into a new normal local folder if the current files are in OneDrive or another synchronized directory.
- Read the first meaningful error in the server log. Later mod-loading messages are often consequences of the original failure.
- Check that the script can write to its folder and that security software has not quarantined a Forge library.
- Confirm that the host has enough free memory and disk space for the selected allocation.
The first launch appears frozen
Allow the documented three-to-five-minute startup window, especially on a slower disk or when libraries are being created. If the process completed a full start but console input did not work, use the documented close-and-restart sequence: stop or close the fully started server, then launch the supplied script again.
Players receive a mod or version mismatch
Compare the exact release number on the server pack with the launcher profile on the affected client. Reinstalling the same profile is safer than copying random individual mods. Also check that the client is using Forge for Minecraft 1.16.5 and has not retained files from a different modpack instance.

- Check memory allocation and host memory pressure before changing unrelated settings.
- Reduce simultaneous exploration and new-chunk generation while diagnosing the problem.
- Lower view distance or other expensive settings gradually, testing one change at a time.
- Inspect the earliest warning or error in the log and note whether it occurs during world generation, a particular mod’s initialization, or routine ticking.
- Verify that the host is not also running a demanding game, backup job, or synchronization client.
Self-hosting versus managed hosting
Self-hosting gives you direct control over files, backups, Java, ports, and update timing, but you are responsible for hardware, uptime, firewall rules, and troubleshooting. A managed Enigmatica host can provide a web control panel, automated installations, and a public network endpoint, while moving recurring costs and some configuration control to the provider. Whichever model you choose, the technical compatibility rules remain the same: 64-bit Java 8, a server pack matched to the clients, adequate memory, and regular backups.
Quick Recap
Final preflight checklist
- Server pack and all clients use the identical Enigmatica 6 release.
- Minecraft and Forge are the 1.16.5 versions supplied by that pack.
- Java reports a 64-bit Java 8 runtime.
- The pack is extracted into an empty, unsynchronized local folder.
- The first launch completed, the EULA is set to
true, and the server was restarted after the initial run. - At least 4 GB is allocated, with additional headroom for players and world generation.
server.propertieswas backed up before edits, and TerraForged generation was selected before creating the permanent world.- The host firewall and, for internet play, router forwarding are configured for the server port.
- A clean world and configuration backup exists before opening the server to players.
