To make a Medieval MC MMC3 server, download the MMC3 FORGE 1.19.2 Server Pack v19, extract it into a clean folder, run its supplied Forge launch script with 64-bit Java 17, accept the EULA, configure server.properties, and give every player the matching Medieval MC [FORGE] 1.19.2 v19 client profile. The server pack already contains the mod files, configuration, libraries, and launch data that must stay together. Remote players additionally need firewall and router configuration.

Use the correct MMC3 release

Medieval MC MMC3 is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.19.2. The current release identified in the CurseForge project listing is Medieval MC [FORGE] 1.19.2 v19, uploaded November 23, 2023. Its separate server download is named MMC3 FORGE 1.19.2 Server Pack v19. Download that server archive rather than building a server from the client files.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not mix releases. The older v9 server-pack listing is 571.72 MB and dated November 16, 2022, so it is not an interchangeable source for a v19 installation. Mixing v9, v18, and v19 files can leave the server and clients with different mods, registries, or configuration data.

What the server pack supplies

  • mods, containing the server-side and shared mod files.
  • config and defaultconfigs, which define pack behavior.
  • Forge libraries and the launch scripts or arguments.
  • Any additional files required by the pack’s pinned Forge installation.

Keep these items in one installation directory. Do not rename individual files, remove apparently unused mods, or copy a few folders into an unrelated Forge server. The launch files are designed around the pack’s complete layout.

Requirements before installation

Hardware and operating system

Use a computer or virtual server that can remain online while players connect. A wired network connection is preferable for a home host. Keep several gigabytes of free disk space for the extracted pack, world data, logs, backups, and future updates. The exact memory requirement depends on player count, view and simulation distances, operating system overhead, and the activity in the world; no authoritative MMC3-specific RAM benchmark establishes a single guaranteed value.

Java 17

Minecraft 1.19.2 requires at least Java 17. Install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime and verify the exact runtime used by the server process:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Windows PowerShell or Command Prompt: java -version
  • Linux or macOS terminal: java -version

The output should identify Java 17 and a 64-bit runtime. Java 8 is incompatible with this Minecraft release. If several Java versions are installed, the shell may report one version while the launch script uses another; check the script’s configured executable and any service definition when troubleshooting.

Forge version discipline

The Forge downloads page lists Forge 43.3.5 for Minecraft 1.19.2 on November 2, 2023. Treat that as release context, not an instruction to replace the server-pack Forge files. Start the pack with its supplied script and arguments so the pinned Forge build is used. Installing the newest Forge build automatically can create mod-loader or registry incompatibilities.

Install the server pack step by step

  1. Create a dedicated directory. Make a new folder such as MMC3-Server-v19 on a drive with sufficient free space. Do not use a directory containing another modpack or an existing world unless you intentionally want to migrate it.
  2. Download the matching archive. From the CurseForge file listing, obtain MMC3 FORGE 1.19.2 Server Pack v19.zip. Check the filename before extracting; a client profile or an older server pack is not a substitute.
  3. Extract everything. Unzip the archive directly into the new server directory. Confirm that the extracted mods, config, defaultconfigs, libraries, and launch files are present at the expected level rather than hidden inside an extra nested folder.
  4. Check Java from that same environment. Run java -version in the directory or in the account that will launch the server. Correct the system PATH, service configuration, or script path if it resolves to Java 8 or another unintended runtime.
  5. Launch with the supplied file. On Windows, run the server pack’s supplied .bat launcher. On Linux, make the supplied shell script executable with chmod +x ./run.sh when necessary, then start it with ./run.sh. Use the actual filename included in the archive; do not assume a generic jar command is equivalent to the pack’s launcher.
  6. Allow first-start generation. Forge and Minecraft create libraries, world files, logs, eula.txt, and other generated data. The first launch can take considerably longer than later starts while files are prepared.
  7. Stop cleanly. When the console pauses for the EULA or finishes its first initialization, stop the process with the console’s stop command rather than closing the window. A clean stop flushes world data and leaves a usable configuration.
  8. Accept the EULA. Open the generated eula.txt, read the license, and change the value to eula=true only if you agree to it. Save the file in the server directory.
  9. Configure the server. Edit server.properties while the server is stopped. Save the file, then launch the same supplied script again.
  10. Wait for readiness. A successful startup ends with a console message indicating that the server is ready to accept connections. Do not connect while Forge is still loading mods or generating the world.

Configure server.properties safely

Edit only the settings you understand, and keep a backup of the original file. Common settings include:

Setting Purpose Practical guidance
server-port TCP port on which Minecraft listens Use the value shown here when configuring the firewall and router. If unchanged, the conventional Minecraft default is 25565.
server-ip Local address binding Usually leave blank so the server can bind to the host’s available interfaces. Entering the wrong address can prevent startup or LAN connections.
motd Message displayed in the multiplayer list Use plain text or supported formatting appropriate for your launcher.
max-players Connection limit Set a conservative value and increase it only after observing performance.
view-distance and simulation-distance How much terrain is sent and simulated Lower values reduce load; change one value at a time and observe logs and tick behavior.
online-mode Account authentication behavior Keep the secure default unless you understand the security consequences of changing it.

Do not edit server.properties while the server is running and expect every change to apply immediately. Stop the server, save the file, and restart. Keep the generated world directory separate from configuration backups so you can restore settings without accidentally overwriting the world.

Install the matching client for every player

Each player must install the Medieval MC [FORGE] MMC3 1.19.2 v19 client profile, including the same Minecraft version and compatible Forge loader. A vanilla 1.19.2 profile, a Fabric profile, or a different MMC3 release will not provide the same mod list and can fail during the handshake.

Client checklist

  • Select the MMC3 Forge 1.19.2 v19 profile in the launcher used to install the pack.
  • Allow the launcher to finish downloading every mod and dependency before connecting.
  • Do not add, remove, or update mods casually; a single changed jar can produce a missing-mod or registry error.
  • Make sure the client is launching the intended Java runtime if the launcher offers a Java selection.
  • Connect only after the server console reports readiness.

When sharing connection details, provide the host’s address and the port configured in server.properties. Players on the same home network can test with the host’s private LAN address; internet players need the public address or a hostname that resolves to it.

Make the server reachable outside your home network

A server that works locally can still be unreachable from the internet. Minecraft’s official server guidance identifies firewall and port-forwarding configuration as possible requirements for remote play.

  1. Confirm the listening port. Read server-port in server.properties. Use that exact value in subsequent rules.
  2. Permit Java through the host firewall. Create an inbound TCP rule for the Java process or the selected Minecraft port. On a public-facing machine, avoid opening unrelated ports.
  3. Find the host’s private address. The router must forward traffic to the computer running the server, not to a different device. Reserve the host’s local address in the router when possible so the rule does not break after a reboot.
  4. Create a router port-forward. Forward the selected external TCP port to the same internal port and the host’s private address. Router labels differ, so use the router’s port-forwarding or virtual-server page.
  5. Test from outside the LAN. Ask a friend to connect or use a device on a mobile connection. Testing from the same Wi-Fi network can succeed through local routing even when the internet rule is wrong.

Do not publish your home address or administrative credentials. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, incoming forwarding may be unavailable; in that case, a publicly reachable managed host or a suitable tunnel is a separate networking solution.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Test in a controlled order

  1. Console test: verify there are no fatal Forge, Java, or mod-loading errors and that the ready message appears.
  2. Local test: connect from the host itself or another device on the same LAN using the private address.
  3. Second-player test: have one additional player join, move through the world, load new chunks, and use the pack’s major systems.
  4. Remote test: test from outside the home network only after the local test succeeds.
  5. Restart test: stop with the console command, start again, and confirm that the world, settings, and player data persist.

Record the player count, view distance, simulation distance, Java version, and relevant log messages during tests. This gives you a baseline for diagnosing later lag or crashes instead of changing several variables at once.

Troubleshoot common failures

Unsupported class version or JVM errors

These errors usually mean the process is using an older Java runtime. Run java -version from the launch environment, inspect the script or service for a hard-coded Java path, and switch it to a 64-bit Java 17 installation. Restart after correcting the runtime.

Missing-mod, registry, or handshake errors

Compare the client and server against the same Minecraft 1.19.2 MMC3 v19 release. Check that both use the intended Forge loader and that no v9, v18, or v19 files have been combined. Reinstalling the matching client profile and restoring the untouched server-pack mods and configuration folders is safer than deleting random jars.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Connection refused

  • Confirm the server process is still running and reached its ready message.
  • Check that the client is using the correct address and port.
  • Verify that server-ip is not bound to an incorrect local address.
  • Confirm the host firewall permits the Java process or selected port.

Connection timeout from outside the LAN

A timeout usually points to networking rather than mod compatibility. Recheck the router’s destination address, external and internal ports, firewall scope, and whether the internet provider permits inbound connections. Test locally first; if local connections fail, fix the server or host firewall before changing router settings.

The server starts, then crashes while loading

Read the first fatal exception and the preceding mod-loading lines in the latest log. Restore the original v19 server-pack files, remove only deliberately added content, and test again. Do not update Forge or individual mods as a first response, because the pack’s versions are designed to work together.

Lag, pauses, or slow chunk loading

There is no published MMC3-specific RAM figure that guarantees a player count or performance level. Record the conditions first: number of players, loaded dimensions, view distance, simulation distance, Java version, and console warnings. Lower view or simulation distance, reduce concurrent activity, and change one setting at a time. If the host begins swapping memory or the server reports long ticks, move to a machine with more available resources rather than assuming a larger heap alone will solve the problem.

Backups, updates, and routine operation

Back up before changes

Stop the server cleanly before copying the world. Keep at least one dated backup of the world, server.properties, eula.txt, the pack’s configuration folders, and any custom scripts. Store a copy away from the host so a disk failure, corruption, or mistaken deletion does not remove every backup.

Free tools Windows power users keep installed

Upgrade deliberately

When a newer MMC3 release is chosen, create a separate directory and install its complete matching server pack. Keep the v19 installation intact until the new directory has been tested. Do not overwrite a working server by dropping newer mods into its existing mods folder. Back up the world before attempting a version migration and check the pack’s release notes for migration warnings.

Operate from the console

Use the server console for normal stop and administrative commands. Avoid killing the process or closing a terminal abruptly, particularly during world saves. Keep logs long enough to compare a healthy startup with a failed one.

Self-hosting versus managed hosting

Self-hosting gives you direct control over files, backups, Java, and network settings, but you are responsible for uptime, firewall rules, router forwarding, updates, and recovery. A managed provider can remove much of the operating-system and networking work, but you still need to confirm that it offers the exact MMC3 1.19.2 v19 image and permits the files or settings your group needs.

Consideration Self-hosted computer Managed service
Initial setup Download, extract, install Java, configure the OS, and launch the pack. Usually an installer or control panel handles the base deployment.
File control Full access to mods, configs, scripts, worlds, and backups. Access depends on the provider’s panel, file manager, and plan.
Networking You handle firewall rules, router forwarding, public addressing, and carrier-grade NAT limitations. The provider normally supplies a public endpoint; panel and firewall behavior still vary.
Maintenance You apply Java, pack, operating-system, and backup maintenance. The provider may automate some tasks, but pack updates and compatibility remain your responsibility.
Support Self-diagnosis through console output and logs. Support quality and modpack expertise differ by provider.
Availability Depends on your electricity, connection, and host hardware. Depends on the provider’s location, resources, and service terms.
Cost Uses existing hardware and internet service, with any electricity or upgrade costs. Requires a recurring hosting charge; the amount depends on the selected resources.

Some services advertise one-click MMC3 deployment, and some document selecting MMC3 in an installer. For example, mTxServ advertises an MMC3 installation workflow, while Apex Hosting documents selecting MMC3 through its installer. Treat those as convenience options, not proof of current compatibility: verify that the panel offers Medieval MC [FORGE] 1.19.2 v19, the matching server pack, Java 17, file access, backups, and the required port before paying or migrating a world.

Can you host MMC3 without configuring everything yourself?

Yes, but not without checking the result. A managed host can handle machine provisioning and often the initial Forge deployment, which is useful when router access, carrier-grade NAT, or operating-system administration is a barrier. You still need to select the correct 1.19.2 v19 image, confirm that the provider uses Java 17, configure player permissions and backups, and ensure every client uses the matching profile. If the provider only offers a newer MMC3 release or a generic Forge template, upload the complete compatible server pack only when its terms and file tools support that workflow.
