Start with your game’s own camera, video, controls, and accessibility menus: the settings available depend on the game, edition, platform, and update. If you find an option that addresses a specific discomfort or control difficulty, change it in a small step and try it in play before adjusting anything else. There is no universal best field of view or sensitivity value, and settings found in other games are examples—not guarantees about an unnamed Soulslike.
Which settings should you check first?
Open the target game’s settings and look for camera or video options, followed by controls and accessibility. Labels and menu locations vary, so verify each option in your own game rather than relying on a guide for another title.
- Camera and video: field of view (FOV), motion blur, screen shake, camera stabilization, camera sway, or similar effects.
- Controls: input remapping, look or camera sensitivity, and whether actions use a hold or toggle—if the game offers those choices.
- Accessibility: additional camera, motion, or input options that may be grouped separately from the main controls.
Do not assume that remapping can change every action or combine multiple actions on one input; those limits are game- and platform-specific.
How should you adjust camera settings?
Field of view
FOV changes how much of the scene is visible at once. A wider view shows more of the surroundings, but can affect performance; some players may find it more comfortable than a narrow view. Others may prefer a narrower view if a wide angle creates a fishbowl effect. These are individual trade-offs, not a universal recommendation. If your game has an FOV control, adjust it gradually and assess the result during normal play.

Motion blur, shake, and camera movement
If available, try the motion-related options that correspond to what bothers you. You might find separate controls for motion-blur intensity, screen shake, camera sway, stabilization, or camera rotation speed. Turn down or disable an effect only if the game permits it, then play long enough to judge whether the change helps without making it harder to follow combat or movement.
Official guides show how different games organize these choices, but they do not establish what an unnamed Soulslike supports. Bethesda’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Accessibility Guide describes adjustable FOV, motion-blur intensity, camera stabilization, and a screen-shake toggle, including potential trade-offs of wider and narrower views. PlayStation’s God of War Ragnarök accessibility page lists options such as camera shake, motion blur, camera sway, and camera rotation speeds. These are examples from those games, not settings to expect in every first-person Soulslike.

How can controls be made more comfortable?
Check the game’s actual bindings and any remapping options. If remapping is available, try a layout that reduces awkward reaches or places frequently used actions where you can reach them comfortably. Inspect sensitivity settings as well, if present, and change them incrementally so you can tell what each adjustment does.

Look for hold-versus-toggle choices for actions such as aiming or sprinting only if the game provides them. Do not assume a specific layout, complete remapping, or a particular toggle option: the available actions and limits depend on the game and platform.

How should you test a change?
- Choose one setting that addresses a specific issue, such as motion blur or camera sensitivity.
- Change only that setting by a small amount, or switch it off if that is an available choice you want to try.
- Play a representative section and notice whether the change makes camera movement or controls more comfortable while keeping the action readable.
- Keep the change if it suits you; otherwise, restore it and test a different option.
This is a practical way to compare settings, not a medically established intervention or a guaranteed outcome. Avoid copying numeric FOV or sensitivity values from another game: the available evidence does not establish a universal ideal for first-person Soulslikes.

They show that accessibility options can be presented in different ways, not that a particular feature is standard. Electronic Arts identifies Immortals of Aveum as a first-person combat game and provides game-specific accessibility resources. That makes it a relevant first-person example, but it does not establish that it is a Soulslike or confirm any setting in your game. Use your own game’s menus or documentation to verify what is available.
