The reliable way to maintain a Roborock Saros 10R is to follow the intervals in its user manual, clean washable parts with the specified materials, and let every wet part dry completely before it goes back into the robot or dock. Clean the main brushes and washable filter every two weeks, the side brush monthly, and mop cloths whenever they are dirty and before use. Replace main brushes about every 6–12 months, side brushes every 3–6 months, and mop cloths every 1–3 months, adjusting for wear and household conditions.
First identify your dock. The standard multifunctional dock automates several washing, refilling, dust-emptying and drying tasks, while the refill-and-drainage version connects to clean- and wastewater plumbing. Neither configuration eliminates manual cleaning of tanks, filters, brushes, sensors or contacts.
Maintenance schedule at a glance
These intervals come from the Roborock Saros 10R user manual. They are manufacturer instructions, not independent measurements of how long parts last. Heavy pet hair, abrasive grit, frequent mopping and high traffic can make a part need attention sooner. Replace a component immediately if it is cracked, badly deformed, frayed or otherwise worn.
| Component | Routine cleaning | Replacement guidance | Important method or qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main brushes | Every 2 weeks | Every 6–12 months, or sooner if worn | Wipe with a wet cloth; air-dry away from direct sunlight |
| Side brush | Monthly | Every 3–6 months | Remove its screw before cleaning and reinstall with the groove aligned |
| Mop cloths | Before use when dirty | Every 1–3 months | Remove from mounts, wash, air-dry, and attach flat |
| Washable filter | Every 2 weeks | Replace if damaged or no longer seals | Rinse repeatedly and dry for at least 24 hours |
| Dustbin | When debris or residue is present | Not stated | Use clean water only; dry fully with the filter before refitting |
| Sensors and charging contacts | When dusty or contact is unreliable | Not stated | Use a soft, dry cloth only |
| Dirty-water tank | Whenever emptied or visibly soiled | Not stated | Rinse with clean, cold water and wipe exterior stains dry |
| Disposable dust bag | Check as it fills | As required | Its handle seals the bag when removed |
Before you start: identify parts and work safely
Park the robot at the dock and stop a cleaning run before removing any component. Have a soft, dry cloth, a clean wet cloth, clean water and a small screwdriver available for the side-brush screw. Keep the robot, dock electronics and charging contacts away from sprayed liquid. Wash removable parts over a sink, but do not assume that a part is safe to reinstall immediately after rinsing.

Separate the two jobs that are easy to confuse: cleaning and drying. Rinsing loosens dirt; it does not make a filter, dustbin, mop cloth or tank ready for use. Place washed parts where air can circulate and leave them until they are completely dry. The washable filter has a stated minimum drying time of 24 hours, and a cool or humid room may require longer.
How do I clean the Roborock Saros 10R dock?
Identify the dock configuration
Roborock describes the multifunctional dock as providing mop washing, intelligent dirt detection, automatic onboard-water refilling, detergent dispensing, dustbin emptying and warm-air mop drying. A Saros 10R sold with a refill-and-drainage system can automatically receive clean water and discharge used water through plumbing. Tank access and the amount of manual filling differ between these versions, so use the instructions printed for the dock that came with your robot rather than assuming one configuration has the other’s tanks or connections.
The dock type changes the routine, not the need for inspection. A tank-based dock requires attention to its clean- and dirty-water containers. A plumbed dock still has water paths, connections and a washing area that can need checking. Do not add plumbing instructions to a tank model or pour water into a dock designed to be supplied through a fixed connection.
The Tool Desk

- Remove the dirty-water tank according to the dock’s handle and release mechanism.
- Empty its contents.
- Rinse the tank with clean, cold water. Cold water helps avoid deformation.
- Wipe water marks on the outside with a soft, dry cloth.
- Check that the tank and its seating area are dry before reinstalling it.
Do not substitute hot water or cleaning chemicals for the specified rinse. A tank that is left damp on the outside can leave moisture around the dock and contacts. If a warning appears immediately after refitting, remove the tank again and check that it is fully seated and that its exterior and the surrounding dock area are dry.
Maintain the disposable dust bag
Inspect the bag when emptying performance changes or the bag appears full. Pull the bag by its handle when replacing it; the handle seals the opening as the bag comes out. Install a new compatible bag before replacing the dust-container cover. If you run the dock without a bag, turn off auto-emptying in the app first; otherwise the dock can attempt to empty into an unprotected container.
Bag replacement is condition-based rather than tied to the brush or filter calendar. A bag that is not full can still need checking if the dock reports a bag error, if dust collection becomes weak, or if the bag is not seated in its holder. Confirm the cover is closed after installation so the emptying cycle can operate as intended.
Use dock automation without treating it as maintenance-free
Automatic mop washing, water management, detergent dosing, dust emptying and warm-air drying reduce daily handling, but they do not wash the filter, remove hair from brushes or clean sensors. Continue the manual schedule, inspect the wash and water areas, and respond to a dirty-water warning or a bag-full indication rather than waiting for an interval.

Warm-air drying is a dock function for the mop system; it is not a substitute for air-drying a filter, dustbin or brush that you removed and rinsed. Keep the dock’s parking and contact area clear so the robot can dock squarely and the charging contacts can meet.

How often should I clean and replace the Saros 10R mop pads?
Clean the mop cloths before use whenever they are dirty. The manual’s direct warning is that “A dirty mop cloth will affect the mopping performance. Clean it before use.” The stated replacement interval is 1–3 months, with earlier replacement when the fabric is thin, permanently stained, torn or no longer making even contact with the floor.
- Remove each cloth from its mounting plate.
- Wash the cloths using clean water appropriate for the material.
- Air-dry them completely.
- Place each cloth back on its mount, keeping it flat with no folded edge or raised wrinkle.
- Confirm that the mount is secure before starting a mopping run.
A cloth can look clean while still holding grit or oily residue, so inspect it before every mopping session in high-traffic areas. A folded corner can leave an uneven wet path and can prevent the mount from sitting correctly. The dock’s warm-air cycle can help after washing, but it does not change the requirement to remove visibly dirty cloths and ensure they are dry before storage or reattachment.
How do I clean the Saros 10R main brushes?
Routine cleaning
Clean the main brushes every two weeks. Hair, thread and grit wrapped around the brush can increase resistance and reduce pickup. Remove the brush assembly as shown in the manual, clear the wrapped debris, then wipe the brush with a wet cloth. If it becomes wet, air-dry it away from direct sunlight before reinstalling.
Check both ends of the brush, not only the visible center. Wrapped hair at an axle can make a brush sound strained even when its bristles look clear. Do not use corrosive cleaning fluid or disinfectant on the main brushes. These chemicals can attack the brush material and leave residue that the robot carries across the floor.
Replace and refit the brush cover
Replace a main brush on the manual’s 6–12-month schedule, or earlier for abnormal wear. When you reinstall the cover, seat all four teeth in their slots and press until the cover clicks. A cover that is not fully latched can allow the brush to lift, rub or stop rotating.
Use condition as the final test: replace a brush immediately if it is cracked, badly deformed, frayed or otherwise worn, even if the calendar interval has not elapsed. After reassembly, rotate the brush by hand if accessible and run a short pickup test while listening for scraping or repeated obstruction warnings.
How do I clean and reinstall the Saros 10R side brush?
Clean the side brush monthly and plan on replacement every 3–6 months. Replace sooner if the bristles are bent permanently, missing or no longer sweep debris toward the intake.
- Turn the robot off or place it where the brush cannot start unexpectedly.
- Unscrew the side-brush screw.
- Lift off the brush and remove hair or debris.
- Align the brush’s central groove with the raised position on the robot.
- Replace and tighten the screw without forcing it.
Correct alignment matters: a brush that sits above its locating feature can wobble, scrape the floor or fail to distribute debris into the main intake. Keep the screw with the brush while it is off the robot so it is not lost, and check that the brush turns freely after tightening.

How do I wash the Saros 10R filter and dustbin?
Wash the filter every two weeks
- Open the dustbin’s filter cover.
- Remove the washable filter.
- Rinse it repeatedly with clean water.
- Tap it gently to release loosened dirt.
- Leave it to dry for at least 24 hours before reinstalling.
Do not rub the filter surface with your hands, a brush or a hard object. Those actions can damage the filter media and reduce sealing or airflow. The 24-hour period is a minimum; a cool or humid room may require longer. Keep a spare compatible filter or leave the robot unused while the washed one dries if you need continuous operation.
Clean the dustbin with water only
Rinse the dustbin with clean water and use no cleaning liquid. The manual states: “To prevent blockage, only use clean water without any cleaning liquid.” Let both the bin and filter dry thoroughly before putting them back. Reinstalling either piece while damp can trap moisture in the suction path and promote residue buildup.
Inspect the filter cover and its sealing surfaces while the bin is empty. Remove loose debris with the specified clean-water rinse rather than scraping the filter. If the filter is torn, misshapen or no longer seats securely, replace it instead of relying on a longer wash.
How do I clean the Saros 10R sensors and charging contacts?
Use a soft, dry cloth. Do not spray cleaner onto the robot or dock. Wipe the sensor windows and the charging contacts on both the robot and dock, then check that no lint remains on the contact surfaces.
The manual identifies the front navigation sensor, wall sensor, communication sensor, rear navigation sensor, cliff sensors and carpet sensor. The retrieved manual version also lists an optical-flow sensor. Keeping these windows clear helps navigation, edge detection, carpet recognition and docking. If the robot repeatedly misses the dock, stops at edges, reports a navigation error or fails to charge, clean these areas before investigating software or hardware faults.
Clean contacts only when the robot is stopped and the surfaces are dry. A thin film of dust can interrupt charging even when the robot appears correctly parked. Do not use a wet cloth on the contacts, and do not push debris into a sensor opening.
A safe reassembly and drying checklist
- Every washed part is fully dry; the filter has had at least 24 hours.
- The dustbin contains no cleaning-fluid residue.
- Main-brush cover teeth are seated and the cover has clicked shut.
- The side-brush groove is aligned and its screw is snug.
- Mop cloths are flat on their mounts.
- The dirty-water tank is seated and its exterior is dry.
- A dust bag is installed before auto-emptying is enabled.
- Sensors and charging contacts are clean and dry.
If any item fails this check, leave the part out and correct it before a cleaning cycle. Running with a missing filter, damp filter, unsecured brush cover or unseated tank can turn a simple cleaning task into a pickup, leakage or docking problem.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsManual work versus dock automation
| Task | What the dock may automate | What you still need to do | Timing or dependency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mop washing | Washes mop cloths and can detect dirt intelligently | Remove, inspect and replace cloths; wash heavily soiled cloths separately | Clean before use; replace every 1–3 months as needed |
| Water handling | Refills onboard water; the plumbed variant can drain used water | Maintain tanks or plumbing and clean the dirty-water tank | Depends on standard or refill-and-drainage dock |
| Drying | Warm-air mop drying | Air-dry removed cloths and all hand-washed parts fully | Filter still requires at least 24 hours |
| Dust collection | Empties the robot dustbin | Replace the disposable bag and wash the robot filter and bin | Bag replacement is condition-based |
| Brushes and sensors | Not a substitute for manual cleaning | Remove hair, wipe brushes and clean sensor windows | Every two weeks, monthly or when dirty |
The practical comparison is therefore not “automatic” versus “no maintenance.” Automation saves time on repeated mop washing, refilling, dust transfer and drying, while manual care remains necessary for parts that collect hair, dust or residue. The exact balance depends on whether your unit has the standard dock or refill-and-drainage configuration.

Planning compatible replacements
When buying consumables, verify that the listing explicitly supports the Saros 10R and your dock configuration. Relevant items include Saros 10R-compatible mop cloths, main and side brushes, dock dust bags and a soft cleaning cloth; a small screwdriver is useful for the side-brush screw. Searching for “Roborock Saros 10R replacement mop pads” describes the model and part type, but the seller’s compatibility statement and the dimensions of the supplied part should decide what you order. The manual’s replacement windows are guides, not proof that every third-party part fits or performs identically.
Check the robot model name and the dock version before ordering. A bag or tank accessory intended for another Roborock dock may look similar but not seal correctly. Keep the old part until the replacement has been compared for mounting points, shape and size. Replace on condition when a component is damaged rather than extending its use simply to reach the printed interval.

The robot leaves streaks or mops poorly
Stop the run and inspect the mop cloths. Wash dirty cloths, air-dry them and reinstall them flat. Replace cloths that are worn or permanently misshapen. Also check that the dock is washing correctly and that its dirty-water tank is not full. If the cloths are clean but one edge remains folded, remove and reattach them rather than adding detergent or another cleaning chemical.

Clean the main brushes and side brush, removing hair from their ends and axles. Check that the main-brush cover is latched on all four teeth and that the side-brush screw and locating groove are correct. Wash and fully dry the filter and dustbin; never reinstall a damp filter. Inspect the disposable dock bag as well, because a full or improperly seated bag can prevent normal dust transfer.
The robot will not dock or charge
Wipe the robot and dock charging contacts with a soft, dry cloth. Clean the front, rear, wall, communication, cliff, carpet and optical-flow sensor windows listed for your manual version. Ensure the dock is on a stable surface and that no wet cloth or tank is obstructing the parking area. A dry, unobstructed contact path is required even when the dock’s washing and drying functions are working normally.
The dock reports a bag or water problem
Confirm that a dust bag is installed and seated before enabling auto-emptying. For a tank-based dock, empty and rinse the dirty-water tank with cold, clean water, dry its outside and refit it. For a refill-and-drainage dock, inspect the clean-water supply and used-water connection using that variant’s installation instructions. Do not force a tank into a plumbing-only connection or add cleaning liquid to a tank that the manual says to rinse with clean water.
A warning returns after cleaning
Recheck the basic reassembly points before assuming a component has failed: a filter cover must close, the main-brush cover must click, the side-brush groove must align, the dirty-water tank must sit correctly and the dust bag must be present. Wipe sensors and contacts once more with a dry cloth. If the warning remains after the part is correctly installed and dry, consult the manual for your regional model and dock rather than repeatedly running the robot.

A practical recurring routine
- Every two weeks, clean the main brushes and washable filter; schedule extra checks after shedding or construction dust.
- At each mopping session, inspect the cloths, clean them when dirty and attach them flat.
- Once a month, remove and clean the side brush and wipe the sensors and charging contacts if dusty.
- Whenever the dock’s dirty-water tank is emptied, rinse it with cold, clean water and dry the exterior.
- Every 3–6 months, assess the side brush; every 6–12 months, assess the main brushes; and every 1–3 months, assess mop cloths. Use actual wear, not the calendar alone, to decide replacement.
Households with pets, tracked-in grit or frequent mopping may need visual checks between these dates. Conversely, a lightly used robot may not need an early replacement if the part remains in good condition. The calendar is a prompt to inspect; the manual’s cleaning method, complete drying and correct reassembly are what keep the Saros 10R operating reliably.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use disinfectant on the Saros 10R main brushes?
No. The user manual specifically says not to use corrosive cleaning fluid or disinfectant on the main brushes. Use a wet cloth, then air-dry the brushes away from direct sunlight.
How long must the washable filter dry?
At least 24 hours. Reinstall it only when it is completely dry; the dustbin must also be dry.
Does every Saros 10R dock need manual water filling?
No. The standard multifunctional dock uses tanks, while a refill-and-drainage configuration can connect to clean-water and wastewater plumbing. Follow the instructions for the dock variant you own.
How often should I replace Saros 10R mop cloths?
The manual lists 1–3 months. Replace sooner if a cloth is torn, permanently misshapen, thin or no longer makes even contact with the floor. Clean dirty cloths before use.
Can I clean the Saros 10R dustbin with detergent?
No. Rinse the dustbin with clean water only. The manual warns that cleaning liquid can contribute to blockage, and both the bin and filter must dry thoroughly before reinstallation.
What should I use to clean the Saros 10R sensors?
Use a soft, dry cloth on the front and rear navigation, wall, communication, cliff, carpet and optical-flow sensor areas listed for your manual version. Do not spray cleaner onto the robot or dock.
When should the Saros 10R side brush be replaced?
The stated interval is every 3–6 months, but bent, missing or permanently deformed bristles justify earlier replacement. Remove the screw, align the central groove with the raised position and tighten the screw when reinstalling.

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Is the Saros 10R dock maintenance-free?
No. Dock automation can wash mops, refill water, dispense detergent, empty dust and provide warm-air drying, but you still need to clean tanks, replace the disposable dust bag, wash the robot filter and bin, and inspect brushes, sensors and contacts.
What can cause poor pickup after cleaning?
Check for hair on the main-brush ends and side brush, confirm the main-brush cover is latched on all four teeth, verify the side-brush groove and screw, and reinstall only a completely dry filter and dustbin.
The Bottom Line
Maintain the Saros 10R by following its manual: clean main brushes and the washable filter every two weeks, the side brush monthly, and mop cloths whenever dirty. Rinse the dirty-water tank with cold, clean water, use only a soft dry cloth on sensors and contacts, replace consumables according to condition, and let every washed part dry fully before reinstalling it. Dock automation helps, but it does not replace this routine.
