Choose the listing method according to what visitors need to do: use WordPress Pages to describe services and invite inquiries, WooCommerce to take payment for a service, or Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) to sell a service without delivering a file. If customers must select a date or duration, use a booking product rather than a static listing.
Choose the right service listing

These options serve different purposes. A virtual WooCommerce product is not itself a booking system, and a WordPress service page does not create checkout.
List services with WordPress Pages
For a brochure-style catalogue, create a parent page named Services, then make a child page for each offering. WordPress Pages suit content that is not time-dependent or part of a blog. WordPress.org illustrates this hierarchy with a Services page and child pages for Web Design, Web Development, and Stationery Design.

Add an overview and publish it.
- Create a page for each offering. In the page settings, set Parent to Services, then publish the page.
- Add the Services page to your site navigation so visitors can reach the catalogue. Link from the parent page to each child page if your theme does not display those links automatically.
Use each service page to explain what is included and provide an inquiry or contact action. This approach requires no product or shipping configuration. As the catalogue grows, the WordPress Pages screen lets you search and filter pages for management.

Sell a service through WooCommerce
Use a virtual product for a non-shipped service
Create a simple product for the service, then mark it as Virtual. WooCommerce identifies services as an example of an intangible product type. The virtual setting removes shipping-related fields and excludes the shipping calculator from the cart and checkout.

- In the dashboard, go to Products > Add New and enter the service name and description.
- In the product data panel, select the simple product type and enable Virtual.
- Set the price and complete the product details, then publish the product.
Use this for an offer that can be purchased without choosing a specific appointment slot during checkout. If the customer needs to reserve a date or duration, the virtual setting alone does not provide that scheduling behavior.

Use a bookable product when customers choose a time
For appointments, rentals, or reservations, WooCommerce documents a separate bookable-product path through WooCommerce Bookings. A bookable product adds time-based booking behavior; it is not simply another setting on the core virtual product.

Sell services with Easy Digital Downloads
Create a Service product
EDD’s product editor includes a Service product type. It removes the file option and does not provide download links after purchase. You can use the product’s Notes area to give customers information about the service. Set a price, and use multiple pricing options when your offer genuinely has distinct options such as service tiers.

Display selected services with a list or grid
EDD’s [downloads] shortcode can display downloads in a list or grid and supports parameters such as category, tags, number, columns, order, and pagination. To show services separately, assign them to a category and filter the shortcode by that category. For example, place [downloads category="services"] in the page content if the category slug is services.

When to use Downloads as Services
EDD also documents a Downloads as Services extension, which can designate service categories or individual downloads as services. Its documentation says this prevents the purchase confirmation page from displaying the “no downloadable files” message for that purchase. This is relevant when existing download products are being treated as services and that confirmation-page behavior matters.

When a showcase plugin may help
A third-party service showcase plugin is an optional alternative if you need a specialized display beyond native Pages or product listings. The WordPress plugin directory has a Services category, but the category listing alone does not establish which plugin is best or whether a particular plugin is maintained and compatible with your WordPress setup. Check those details before installing one.
