You can control MONOPOLY GO notifications, cellular data, and much of its background activity from your phone’s operating-system settings. On iPhone, disable the game’s cellular switch for Wi‑Fi-only use and enable Low Data Mode when you are away from Wi‑Fi. On Android, use Data Saver, remove any unrestricted-data exception, and set a warning or hard limit where available. Notifications are also controlled at the device level: silence everything or keep only the alerts you consider useful.
There is no authoritative MONOPOLY GO-specific battery benchmark in the available documentation, so do not expect a guaranteed percentage reduction. Your result depends on the phone model, display brightness, radio conditions, play time, heat, frame rate, network quality, and device age. The steps below let you make the trade-offs deliberately and measure your own phone.
What you can control
MONOPOLY GO does not need a special in-game switch for the basic controls in this guide. The operating system decides whether the app may send push alerts, use mobile data, run background work, or bypass data-saving rules. Scopely’s privacy policy states: “If you no longer want to receive them, you can turn them off at the device level.” That means the reliable place to manage push notifications is your iPhone or Android settings.

Menu names can differ between iOS releases, Android releases, and manufacturer interfaces. If a label is slightly different, look for the same function under Notifications, Cellular/Mobile Data, Network, or Data usage.

Stop or reduce MONOPOLY GO notifications
Turn off every notification on iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Notifications.
- Select MONOPOLY GO.
- Turn off Allow Notifications.
This silences the game’s notification delivery, including alerts that would otherwise appear on the Lock Screen, in Notification Center, or as banners. It also removes notification sounds and notification badges because the master permission is off.
Keep iPhone notifications but make them quieter
- Go to Settings → Notifications → MONOPOLY GO.
- Leave Allow Notifications on.
- Turn off only the alert locations you do not want, such as the Lock Screen, Notification Center, or banners.
- Turn off Sounds if you want a silent alert, and adjust badge behavior separately if you do not want an unread count.
This is useful when you want to see an event reminder later but do not want the game interrupting you. The exact controls shown depend on the iOS version.
Turn off every notification on Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap Notifications, then App notifications (the wording varies).
- Choose MONOPOLY GO.
- Turn off the app’s notification permission.
Some Android phones put the same page under Apps → MONOPOLY GO → Notifications. If the phone offers notification categories, you can leave useful categories enabled and disable promotional or event categories individually instead of blocking the entire app.
When a notification still appears
- Reopen the app-notification page and check that the master permission is off or that the specific category is disabled.
- Look for duplicate categories, such as separate promotional, event, or general-game channels.
- Check whether the alert is an operating-system permission prompt rather than a MONOPOLY GO message.
- After changing the setting, wait for a known event or notification opportunity and verify the result; changing a permission does not erase an alert already delivered.
Make MONOPOLY GO use Wi‑Fi only on iPhone
Disable cellular access for the app
- Open Settings.
- Tap Cellular or Mobile Data, depending on the iOS wording and region.
- Scroll to the app list and find MONOPOLY GO.
- Turn its cellular-data switch off.
Apple’s cellular settings treat that switch as an app-level permission. With cellular data disabled for MONOPOLY GO, the app uses Wi‑Fi only. It can still open and connect normally when the iPhone is connected to Wi‑Fi, but it will not use the cellular connection when Wi‑Fi is unavailable.
Use Low Data Mode for additional background limits
- Open Settings.
- Tap Cellular → Cellular Data Options.
- Turn on Low Data Mode.
Apple says Low Data Mode pauses automatic updates and background tasks when the iPhone is not connected to Wi‑Fi. It is a broader connection-level control, not a MONOPOLY GO-only switch. Use the app’s individual cellular switch when you need a strict Wi‑Fi-only rule for the game; use Low Data Mode when you also want other apps to reduce background traffic.

Check how much cellular data the game has used
- Return to Settings → Cellular or Settings → Mobile Data.
- Find MONOPOLY GO in the app list.
- Record the usage figure shown beneath or beside the app before a test session.
- Play for a defined period, then return to the same screen and record the new total.
The total covers the measurement period represented by the phone’s statistics. If you need a clean test, use Reset Statistics only when you are intentionally starting a new measurement period. Resetting does not reduce data use; it only changes what the counter reports.
Restrict MONOPOLY GO mobile data on Android
Turn on Data Saver
- Open Settings.
- Tap Network & internet.
- Choose Data Saver.
- Turn Data Saver on.
Android’s Data Saver limits background mobile-data activity. The exact screen can differ on Samsung, Motorola, OnePlus, and other manufacturer versions, but the relevant controls are usually under Network, Connections, Mobile network, or Data usage.
Review the Unrestricted data access list
- Open the Data Saver settings page.
- Tap Unrestricted data access or the similarly named exceptions list.
- Find MONOPOLY GO.
- Turn its exception off unless you specifically want it to bypass Data Saver.
An unrestricted-data exception can let an app continue background activity while Data Saver is on. Removing the exception favors data savings. The trade-off is that some background functions may wait until Wi‑Fi is available or until you open the game.
Use per-app data controls where the phone provides them
Some Android interfaces expose separate switches for background data and unrestricted data on the app’s information page. Open Settings → Apps → MONOPOLY GO → Mobile data & Wi‑Fi, Data usage, or the equivalent page, then disable background data if that option is present. A background-data restriction generally does not prevent data use while you are actively playing; it controls work performed while the app is not on screen.

Set a warning or hard limit on a Pixel
- Open Settings.
- Tap Network & internet.
- Tap SIMs, then choose the relevant SIM.
- Open App data usage to inspect MONOPOLY GO’s total.
- Use Data warning & limit to set an alert amount or an automatic mobile-data limit.
A warning tells you that a chosen threshold has been reached. A hard limit can automatically turn mobile data off when the configured amount is reached. Android’s counter and your carrier’s billing cycle may not align perfectly, so set the measurement period to match your plan and leave enough margin for other apps.
Reduce battery impact without breaking normal play
Start with the highest-leverage changes
- Turn off MONOPOLY GO notifications if you do not need event alerts. Fewer alerts can mean fewer screen wakeups, sounds, vibrations, and background handling while the game is closed.
- Restrict background mobile data using Low Data Mode on iPhone or Data Saver and per-app controls on Android.
- Prefer Wi‑Fi when practical, especially in locations with weak cellular service.
- Avoid leaving the game open with the display on when you are not playing.
The display and radio activity can be larger contributors than an occasional notification, but the available authoritative material does not provide a MONOPOLY GO-specific measurement. Screen brightness, frame rate, heat, network quality, phone age, and the length of a play session all change the result. Apple also notes that using 4G/LTE can decrease battery performance in some circumstances.
Understand the trade-off of background restrictions
Battery-saving and data-saving controls can delay background refresh, notifications, or other timely updates. If you block cellular access or remove an Android unrestricted-data exception, the game may not update until the phone reaches Wi‑Fi or you open MONOPOLY GO. That is expected behavior, not necessarily a fault.
Use the phone’s battery screen for evidence
Check the operating system’s battery-usage screen after a normal day rather than assuming a fixed percentage reduction. Compare similar days with similar play time, brightness, and network conditions. A single short session can be dominated by unrelated activity, such as a system update, camera use, navigation, or poor signal conditions.

Measure your own data and battery results
A controlled data test
- Choose a defined play period, such as 30 minutes, and keep the same game activity as closely as practical.
- Record the current MONOPOLY GO total in iPhone Cellular/Mobile Data settings or Android App data usage.
- Run the session on Wi‑Fi and record the ending total.
- Repeat on cellular, using comparable play time and conditions.
- Compare the difference for your phone, account, and network; do not present it as a universal MONOPOLY GO data figure.
For an iPhone test, confirm that the app’s cellular switch is on during the cellular session and off only when you intentionally test Wi‑Fi-only behavior. On Android, check that Data Saver and any background-data exceptions are the same for each run.
A practical battery comparison
- Charge the phone to a repeatable starting level.
- Record brightness, display refresh or frame-rate settings if your phone exposes them, connection type, and approximate signal quality.
- Play for the same duration with notifications and background-data settings unchanged.
- Repeat on another day after changing one control, such as disabling notifications.
- Review the phone’s battery screen and note total battery change, screen-on time, and MONOPOLY GO’s share.
This approach reveals your own trade-off while avoiding an unsupported claim that a particular setting saves a fixed amount of battery.

Troubleshoot common outcomes
The game works on Wi‑Fi but not outside
On iPhone, check Settings → Cellular/Mobile Data and confirm that MONOPOLY GO’s switch is on if you want cellular access. If the switch is intentionally off, this is the expected Wi‑Fi-only result. On Android, review Data Saver, the app’s background-data setting, and any carrier-level data restriction.
Notifications stopped, but the phone still shows a badge
On iPhone, badges are a separate notification presentation option unless the master permission is off. On Android, notification dots and badges can be controlled by the app-notification page or the launcher. Recheck the specific app and category settings rather than changing network permissions.

Data usage seems higher than expected
First identify whether the number is foreground, background, or total usage; Android interfaces may show those separately. Confirm that the measurement period is correct, that MONOPOLY GO is not listed under unrestricted access, and that another app or system service is not being counted in the same total. Repeat a timed test before drawing a conclusion.
Alerts arrive late after enabling restrictions
Delayed alerts are a normal consequence of Low Data Mode, Data Saver, disabled cellular access, or blocked background data. Restore the relevant permission or exception if immediate background availability matters more than data and battery savings. You can also keep notifications on while allowing the app to use data only when opened, depending on the controls your phone provides.

The battery still drains quickly
Check whether MONOPOLY GO was left open with the screen on, whether brightness or refresh rate is high, and whether the phone was working against weak signal or excess heat. Review the battery screen after a normal day. Because no authoritative MONOPOLY GO-specific battery benchmark is established, a fixed percentage target would be misleading.

- Trigger or wait for a known MONOPOLY GO event and confirm whether the notification behavior matches your choice.
- Record the current cellular or mobile-data total, play for a defined period, and check the total again.
