To run your prerecorded videos as a continuous YouTube livestream, create a live stream in YouTube Studio and send it an encoder feed that plays your videos in a loop or playlist. You can host that setup on your own computer, or use a cloud service to keep it running without leaving a computer on at home. YouTube supports encoder streaming and documents a 24/7 broadcast use case, but neither method guarantees uninterrupted uptime.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified, has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days, and meets YouTube’s minimum age requirement of 16.
- One or more prerecorded videos you have the right to stream, including permission for any music, clips, or other third-party material they contain.
- A way to play the videos continuously and send the resulting audio and video to YouTube: an encoder running on a computer, or a cloud service.
- Access to YouTube Studio to create the stream and monitor its status.
YouTube Help lists a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key. These are limits, not a recommendation to run that many streams.
Set up a continuous stream with your own computer
In a local setup, your computer runs the video source and encoder and sends the feed to YouTube. YouTube’s documentation supports encoder-based streaming, but does not prescribe a particular loop application, minimum computer specification, or hardware purchase. If you already have a suitable setup, you may not need new equipment.

Confirm that the channel is verified, is at least 16 years old under YouTube’s stated requirement, and has not had a live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days.
- Prepare a rights-cleared playlist. Select the videos and arrange them in the order you want. Make sure your permissions cover livestream use for all included content, not just the original video file. Save the playlist or loop configuration in your chosen playback software.
- Create a live stream in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, choose the encoder streaming workflow, and create or schedule the stream. Configure your encoder to send the audio and video feed to the stream using the stream details and key shown in Studio. Keep the stream key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Start playback and the encoder. Set the video source to repeat the playlist or continue to the next video, then start the encoder output. Check the stream preview and status in YouTube Studio before directing viewers to the watch page.
- Keep the local setup running. The computer, video playback, encoder, and network connection must remain available for the feed to continue. Put the computer where it can stay powered and connected, and avoid sleep settings that stop playback or networking.
- Monitor Studio and the feed. Watch for encoder status changes, playback ending, or YouTube notices. A 24/7 broadcast pattern in Google’s API documentation describes a specific API use case; it is not a promise that every local setup will stay uninterrupted.
Copyright and monetization considerations
Clear every element in the videos
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match may replace the live video with a placeholder, and unresolved third-party content can interrupt or terminate the stream. Owning the recording does not necessarily give you rights to embedded music, footage, or other material. A license also may not prevent a live interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID.

Do not assume a 24/7 stream can be monetized
Whether a channel’s replayed video library qualifies for monetization depends on the channel and its content. A continuous broadcast setup does not itself establish eligibility or guarantee revenue.

Troubleshoot common interruptions

Costs and practical trade-offs
YouTube’s encoder documentation does not require buying a particular computer or looping application. A computer you already own may be sufficient, but a local setup depends on that device and its internet connection staying available. Consider the power and connection costs as well as the time needed to monitor and restore the feed. A UPS may help a local setup ride through some power interruptions, but it cannot guarantee uninterrupted streaming.
