You can join a FaceTime call on a Samsung phone through a web link, but you cannot install or use the FaceTime app itself on Samsung. An Apple-device host must send you a FaceTime link and admit you to the call.
What you need before joining
- A FaceTime link from the person hosting the call.
- The latest version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on your Samsung device. Apple recommends either browser and a strong Wi-Fi or mobile internet connection.
- Access to your phone’s camera and microphone if you want to participate with video and audio.
FaceTime links are not supported in mainland China, according to Apple Support.
How to join FaceTime from a Samsung device
- Ask the host to create and send a link. Apple says a link can be created on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 15 or later, or a Mac running macOS Monterey or later. The host can share the link with you. See Apple’s guide to starting or joining a call from a FaceTime link.
- Open the link in Chrome or Edge. Use the latest version of either browser and connect to strong Wi-Fi or mobile internet.
- Enter your name and select Continue. If your browser asks, allow access to the camera and microphone.
- Select Join. You will wait until the host admits you; sending a join request does not put you into the call automatically.
- Use the call controls as needed. You can mute your microphone or turn your camera on or off. Select Leave when you are ready to exit.
What works—and what does not—on FaceTime for the web
The Samsung experience is browser-based, not a native FaceTime app. Apple states that “SharePlay and screen sharing aren’t available in FaceTime on the web.” Basic microphone and camera controls are available, but do not expect the web call to provide those unavailable features.

If you cannot get into the call
- The link does not open: Try the latest Chrome or Edge and check your internet connection.
- The host has not let you in: Stay on the waiting screen until the host approves your request. The host can approve or decline waiting participants.
- You have no audio or video: Check that the browser has permission to use your Samsung’s microphone and camera, and confirm the in-call controls are not muted or switched off.
- You are in mainland China: Apple says FaceTime links are not supported there. Separately, Apple notes that creating a link is unsupported on iPhone models purchased in mainland China.
