In AION 2, adding a player as a friend and inviting that player to a party are separate actions. Search for the character by name or select a nearby character, send and accept the friend request if needed, then choose Invite to Party from the accepted friend’s entry. The other player must accept the party invitation. If you are not in the same instance, use the available instance or activity-queue option; a party alone does not guarantee shared story progress.
The fastest way to invite a friend
For a player you already know, the reliable sequence is:
- Open the main menu with
Escor the menu icon. - Choose Manage Friends.
- Search for the character’s exact in-game name and send a friend request.
- Have the recipient accept the request. Until acceptance, the player remains a pending contact rather than an available friend.
- Select the accepted friend in the Friends List and choose Invite to Party.
- Wait for the second acceptance, then open the Party interface and confirm that both names are listed.
A friend connection does not create a party automatically. Likewise, a party invitation does not save the player as a friend. Both requests have to be accepted independently.

- The correct character name: Character-name search is useful when the player is in another area, but spelling and capitalization must match what the client expects.
- A compatible client and region: Cross-server and cross-faction behavior is not consistently documented. Do not assume that every server combination can exchange friend or party requests.
- An available social menu: Exact labels can move after patches, so look for Friends, Social, Party, or Group entries if the wording differs from the steps below.
- Two acceptances: The recipient must accept the friend request before appearing as a saved friend, and must accept the party invitation before joining the group.
Add a friend by character name
The dated AION 2 Wiki guide describes the following menu path. Treat the labels as a practical reference rather than a permanent interface specification, because live-client updates can rename or relocate controls.

- Open the main menu by pressing
Escor selecting the on-screen menu icon. - Select Manage Friends.
- Find the add-player or search field in the Friends window.
- Enter the other player’s character name. Use the complete name rather than a nickname used in chat or voice communications.
- Confirm the search and choose the matching character.
- Send the friend request.
- Open the requests panel to verify that the request is listed as outgoing or pending.
- Ask the recipient to open their own requests panel and accept it.
After acceptance, refresh or reopen Friends management if the entry does not appear immediately. Select the accepted entry and use Invite to Party. The invitation will remain pending until the other player confirms it.
If the name search returns no result
- Check every character in the name, including repeated letters and numerals.
- Ask the player to copy the name from their character profile or party interface rather than typing it from memory.
- Verify that you are both using the same region and client rules. A search failure can reflect a server or faction boundary rather than a spelling error.
- If the player is standing nearby, use direct selection instead of name search.
Invite a nearby player directly
When the character is visible, selecting them can be faster than searching. A third-party co-op guide reports that the PC client uses Alt to reveal the cursor for nearby-character interaction.
- Move close enough that the intended character can be selected.
- On PC, hold
Altto display the cursor, according to that guide. - Click the player character, not an enemy, non-player character, object, or patch of ground.
- Use the social action that appears. Choose Invite to Party if you only need a temporary group.
- If you want a lasting contact, choose the option to add the player or send a friend request instead, then wait for acceptance before inviting from Friends.
Direct selection is convenient in a crowded area, but it is also easy to mis-target. If the action menu shows combat or interaction commands rather than social commands, cancel it and select the character again. A successful selection should identify the player’s character, not merely highlight something in the environment.
Invite someone already on your Friends List
Use this route when the friend request has already been accepted:
- Open Manage Friends from the main menu.
- Locate the friend in the accepted Friends List, not in pending requests.
- Select the friend’s entry.
- Choose Invite to Party.
- Tell the friend to accept the party prompt.
- Open the Party interface and check that both characters are present.
If the friend is shown as offline, unavailable, or greyed out, the client may not be able to deliver a normal invitation. Check the player’s current character, region, and activity status before sending repeated requests.

How the other player accepts
The invited player must confirm the party prompt. If it disappears, ask them to check notifications, social requests, or the Party panel rather than sending many invitations in quick succession. Once accepted, both players should verify the group roster. Seeing a friend in the Friends List alone does not prove that the party was formed.
Friends, parties and shared worlds are different
AION 2 separates social connection, party membership, and world-instance placement. These states are related but not interchangeable.

When a party member is not beside you
Party membership does not necessarily teleport or phase characters into the same world instance. If a party member appears absent, greyed out, or unable to interact with the group, try the following general process:
- Form the party first and confirm both names in the roster.
- Select the affected party member and look for an instance-join, registration, or similar option.
- Have that player accept the transfer or registration prompt if one appears.
- For a dungeon or other supported activity, open the activity’s group interface and enter from there rather than walking into separate entrances.
- After loading, check the roster and minimap again. A successful group entry should show both characters in the same run.
The exact command names can change, and not every region or activity exposes the same controls. If no join option appears, leave and re-form the party, then use the activity menu for the content you are trying to run.
Open-world play versus story instances
Third-party co-op guidance describes early story play as comparatively solo-focused. Parties can commonly travel and fight ordinary enemies together in the open world, but a story scene, quest phase, or progression objective can place one character in an individual instance. In that situation, one player may see a different area or fail to receive the same objective credit.

For ordinary exploration and combat
Meet in the same open-world instance, form the party, and test the group by moving together and engaging a normal enemy. If both characters remain visible and the party roster updates, ordinary cooperative play is working.
For a story objective
Expect the game to separate players when it starts a personal story instance. Complete the individual segment, then regroup at the next shared location. Do not assume that killing an enemy or completing an interaction for one character will advance the other character’s quest.
For a dungeon or structured activity
Use the activity’s group-entry interface. AION 2’s official product materials advertise multiplayer formats including five-player Expedition content, a dungeon for up to five players, and five-player and ten-player dungeon formats on the Steam listing. Those promotional format descriptions establish that supported group content exists; they do not guarantee that every quest, dungeon entrance, or social-menu label works the same way.
Using Party Finder or an activity interface
A separate social guide reports that Party Finder can help fill a group for supported activities. Official product materials confirm multiplayer formats, but they do not provide a definitive current Party Finder procedure. If your client includes Party Finder, use the activity menu to choose the relevant content, review the listed role or entry requirements, and join or post a group there.
- Open the activity, dungeon, or group menu.
- Choose the supported activity rather than a general world map destination.
- Look for a Party Finder, recruitment, register, or matchmaking control.
- Join an existing listing or create one if the client allows it.
- Wait for the roster to satisfy the activity’s requirements, then enter through the same interface.
If no Party Finder control is visible, the feature may be restricted to a particular activity, level, region, or client version. Use direct friend invitations for open-world play and consult the current activity menu for structured content.

Server and faction limitations
Do not promise that every friend request or party invitation works across every server and faction combination. One third-party guide asserts that cross-server friend connections are possible, while community reports describe conflicting experiences. No region-specific official instruction settles all of these combinations.
Before planning a group session, verify the rule in your own client:
- Search for the character by name and see whether the result can be selected.
- Check whether the friend request can be sent and accepted.
- Try a party invitation only after the friend connection appears.
- Use the activity interface if direct grouping fails.
- If the game reports a server, faction, or region restriction, treat that message as authoritative for the current client and region.
A failure at one step does not prove that the other player entered the wrong name. Service rules can differ by region and can change with updates.

The friend request is pending
Ask the recipient to open social requests and accept it. Confirm that you sent the request to the intended character and that the request appears in your outgoing panel. Reopen Friends management after acceptance if the list has not refreshed.
The friend appears in Friends but cannot be invited
Check whether the entry is actually accepted rather than still pending, and whether the character is online on the expected server. If the entry is greyed out, try again after both players return to a normal world area.

The party invitation is never accepted
Have the recipient check notification settings, social requests, and the Party panel. Send one new invitation after confirming that the first prompt expired instead of repeatedly spamming requests.
The nearby-player menu selects the wrong target
Move to an uncluttered location, hold Alt again on PC, and select the character model or nameplate. Avoid clicking enemies, NPCs, environmental objects, or the ground.
The party is formed, but the characters cannot see each other
Use the party member’s instance-join or registration option if available. For a dungeon or supported activity, leave through the activity’s group interface. If the content is a personal story instance, complete the separate segment and regroup afterward.
The search works for one player but not the other
Compare region, server, faction, and character names. Cross-server behavior is not fully established for all combinations, so use the current in-game search and activity tools rather than relying on assumptions from another region or an older guide.
A practical workflow for a group session
- Agree on the exact character names and the region or server each person is using.
- Meet in a shared open-world area when possible.
- Use nearby selection for a visible player, or use Manage Friends and character-name search for someone elsewhere.
- Accept the friend request before attempting a Friends List invitation.
- Send and accept the separate party invitation.
- Check the Party roster before starting a quest or entering a dungeon.
- For structured content, queue or register through the activity’s group interface.
- If the game places someone in a personal instance, let that player finish the segment and regroup at the next shared objective.
What party play is suited to
Party play is most dependable for coordinated travel, open-world combat, and activities explicitly designed for groups. It is less dependable as a way to synchronize early story progression. The official product pages describe large amounts of dungeon content and both five-player and ten-player formats, while the co-op guidance warns that story instances can separate players. Choose the group method based on the content, not simply on whether the Friends List shows both characters.
