Yes, bKash can be used to pay for an investment in certain open-end mutual funds managed by ICB Asset Management PLC. The important qualification is that the available official information describes bKash as a mobile financial services (MFS) payment method during the fund-application process. It does not show a feature for selecting and buying mutual-fund units directly inside the bKash app.
In practice, you first identify an eligible ICB open-end fund, obtain its current application and KYC instructions, confirm the official bKash payment details with ICB, submit the form and documents, and then pay exactly as instructed. A bKash payment is only the transfer method; it is not a deposit, a return guarantee, or evidence that a fund is suitable for you.
What “invest through bKash” actually means
There are two different ideas that are often confused:
- Buying fund units inside bKash: the reviewed bKash Savings information does not list mutual funds as an in-app investment product.
- Using bKash to pay a fund manager: ICB Asset Management’s FAQ says investors may apply for its open-end mutual funds and provide the investment amount through MFS channels including bKash, Nagad and Ekpay.
That distinction determines the safe procedure. You are not treating your bKash balance as a mutual-fund account. You are using bKash as one accepted payment rail after completing the asset manager’s subscription and KYC process.

The ICB FAQ result describes the process broadly as completing an application form, supplying KYC-related documents and paying the investment amount by an accepted method. The exact form, document list, fund terms, payment instructions and operational steps can change, so obtain the current version directly from ICB before sending money. The FAQ result was available as an official excerpt, but its page date and full checklist were not visible.
bKash Savings is not the same as a mutual fund
bKash’s official Savings description covers money deposited with participating banks or financial institutions. The displayed categories include fixed deposits (FDR), weekly and monthly deposit schemes (DPS), and Islamic DPS. Those are deposit products arranged with a bank or financial institution; they are not units in a pooled investment fund.
The displayed bKash terms include weekly products starting at Tk 250 per week for listed six- or twelve-month options and monthly products starting at BDT 500 per month. The general DPS description shows weekly or monthly deposits from BDT 250 to BDT 20,000, with tenures from six months to four years. These are the amounts and tenures shown for the listed deposit products, not minimums, returns or holding periods for an ICB mutual fund. Check the live bKash service page before relying on any displayed figure.

What you need before sending money
Prepare the information needed to make an informed, traceable subscription rather than starting with a transfer screen. Use this checklist:
- A specific fund: identify the ICB open-end fund you are considering. “ICB mutual fund” is not one universal product with identical terms.
- Current fund documents: request the latest prospectus, offering document or other investor information, including objectives, portfolio policy, valuation, charges, risk disclosures and redemption conditions.
- Application instructions: obtain the current application form from ICB, an ICB office, an authorized selling agent or the official ICB website. The FAQ names www.icbamcl.com.bd and www.icbamcl.gov.bd as places where an application may be available.
- KYC documents: ask ICB for the exact current checklist and acceptable formats. The FAQ confirms that KYC-related documents are required, but the excerpt does not expose the complete list.
- Payment confirmation: obtain the official bKash payee information, reference format, amount, timing and any required narration from ICB for the selected fund.
- Your records: have a way to save the completed form, documents, bKash receipt, transaction ID and every confirmation message.
Step-by-step: paying an ICB mutual-fund application with bKash
1. Select an eligible ICB open-end fund
Start with the fund, not with the bKash menu. Read the current fund materials and confirm that it is an open-end scheme accepting new subscriptions. The available FAQ supports the general open-end-fund route, but it does not establish that every ICB fund has the same payment channels, minimum investment, cut-off time, charges or redemption terms.
Record the exact fund name as it appears on the application. Similar names can create avoidable payment and allocation errors.
2. Get the current application form
Download or collect the current form from ICB, its authorized selling-agent office or an official ICB website. Do not rely on an old copy saved by another investor. Check the form version, fund name, applicant details, bank or MFS payment fields and signature requirements.

If you cannot verify that a website, office or agent is official, pause and contact ICB through a trusted channel before sharing identity documents or money.
3. Confirm the KYC checklist
Complete KYC exactly as ICB requires. The FAQ says the application must be accompanied by documents related to KYC, but the reviewed excerpt does not state whether a particular application needs a national identity document, photograph, bank information, nominee details, tax information or additional declarations. Requirements can differ by investor type and may be updated.
Ask which copies are accepted, whether originals must be shown, how a nonresident or joint applicant should proceed, and where the documents must be submitted. Do not guess at a missing field or upload identity documents to an unofficial page.
4. Ask ICB to confirm bKash acceptance for that fund
The FAQ names bKash, Nagad and Ekpay as MFS methods, but you should still confirm that bKash is available for your chosen fund and transaction type on the day you invest. Ask ICB for written or otherwise verifiable instructions covering:
- the official recipient or merchant details;
- the exact amount and whether any charge is added separately;
- the payment reference or application-number format;
- when the payment should be made relative to form submission;
- where the transaction ID must be reported; and
- what to do if a payment fails, is reversed or is sent with an incorrect reference.
The reviewed material does not provide a current merchant number, fee, processing time or tap-by-tap bKash flow. Treat any number or instruction received from an unverified social-media post, intermediary or older form as unconfirmed.
5. Complete and review the application
Enter the applicant’s name, contact details, fund name, amount and other fields exactly as required. Make sure the name and identifying information match the KYC documents. Review the declaration, risk acknowledgement, nominee information and signatures before submitting.
Keep a complete copy. A clear scan or photograph should show every page, date and signature. If an agent accepts the form, ask for a receipt identifying the fund and applicant.
6. Make the bKash payment only through confirmed instructions
Open bKash and follow the current payment type and recipient details supplied by ICB. Do not improvise by sending money to a personal number because someone claims to represent a fund. Before confirming, compare the recipient, amount and reference with the official instructions.

Save the confirmation immediately. A successful MFS transfer proves that money moved; it does not by itself prove that fund units were allocated.
7. Submit the transaction evidence and documents
Send the bKash transaction ID and any required payment proof to the official ICB office, selling agent or submission channel specified in the current instructions. Attach the application and KYC documents in the requested format. If the process requires payment before document submission, follow the confirmed sequence; if it requires documents first, do not reverse the order based on an unofficial suggestion.
Ask for acknowledgement that ICB received both the application and the payment. Keep the acknowledgement with the original transaction record.
8. Wait for fund-specific confirmation
Ask ICB how and when it will confirm acceptance, unit allocation, rejected applications, refunds or requests for additional documents. No current processing time is established by the reviewed sources. Do not treat a bKash SMS alone as an investment statement.

How to verify that a payment request is genuine
Financial scams often exploit the fact that MFS transfers are fast and difficult to reverse. Use a separate verification step before authorizing payment:
Rank #4
- Locate the recipient details in current documents or obtain them directly from ICB.
- Contact ICB through a trusted official channel and read back the fund name, amount and recipient.
- Confirm whether the recipient is the fund, ICB or an authorized collection arrangement, and ask how the payment will be matched to your application.
- Never disclose your bKash PIN, one-time password or security code to an agent, caller or supposed fund representative.
- Save the transaction ID and screenshots, but do not post identity documents or payment details publicly.
If the recipient, amount or reference changes at the last minute, stop and verify again. A request for payment to a personal wallet, a promise of guaranteed returns or pressure to skip KYC is inconsistent with the documented application route.
What the available evidence does not establish
Do not fill gaps in the public instructions with assumptions. The reviewed official material does not establish:
- a universal minimum investment for all ICB open-end funds;
- a current bKash merchant number or exact in-app menu path;
- fees, taxes or service charges for a particular fund or payment;
- the time required to validate KYC, accept an application or allocate units;
- the price or valuation at which your units will be issued;
- the exact redemption form, notice period or settlement time;
- that all ICB funds accept identical MFS channels; or
- any return, capital protection or guarantee supplied by bKash.
These are not minor details. Obtain them from the current fund documents and ICB before committing money.

Understand what creates the return
A mutual fund pools investor money and invests according to its stated policy. The value of units can rise or fall with the underlying portfolio and other market factors. The payment channel does not reduce that investment risk. Review whether the fund invests in equities, fixed-income instruments, money-market assets or a combination, and whether that exposure matches your time horizon.
Read charges and valuation rules
Look for entry or exit charges, management fees, trustee or other expenses, applicable taxes, valuation frequency and the price used for subscriptions and redemptions. The available ICB excerpt does not provide these figures, so do not infer them from a bKash DPS or FDR.
Check liquidity and redemption conditions
“Open-end” does not mean an instant cash-out through bKash. The fund’s documents should explain how to submit a redemption request, when requests are accepted, how the price is calculated and when payment is made. Ask whether proceeds return through a bank account, another approved method or a process specified by ICB.

Verify the manager and regulatory information
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) asset-manager information lists the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (Mutual Fund) Rules, 2025 and a registry of asset-management companies; the page reports a last update of 11 October 2026. Use current BSEC information and the fund’s own documents to check the manager and scheme status. Regulatory listing is a due-diligence step, not a promise that an investment will make money.

Common problems and what to do
The bKash app does not show a mutual-fund option
That is consistent with the distinction above. The documented route is an ICB application paid through an accepted MFS channel, not a mutual-fund marketplace inside bKash Savings. Obtain the fund’s payment instructions from ICB rather than searching for a nonexistent investment button.
You cannot find the current application form
Use the official ICB websites named in the FAQ or contact an ICB office or authorized selling agent. Ask for the latest form for the exact open-end fund and confirm whether online submission is currently available.
Your payment succeeded but no acknowledgement arrived
Do not send a second payment immediately. Save the transaction ID, check whether the application and KYC documents were submitted, and contact ICB through its verified channel to ask how the payment is matched. Request written confirmation of the next step.

You are asked for extra documents or a different amount
Ask why the change applies to your investor category or fund and request the requirement in the current official instructions. Do not provide additional identity information or money until the request is verified.
A practical decision checklist
Proceed only when you can answer yes to each applicable question:
- Do I know the exact ICB open-end fund I am subscribing to?
- Have I read its current objectives, risks, charges, valuation and redemption terms?
- Do I have the current application and KYC checklist?
- Has ICB confirmed that bKash is accepted for this fund and transaction?
- Have I independently verified the official recipient and payment reference?
- Can I retain the application, KYC proof, bKash transaction ID and acknowledgement?
- Do I understand that bKash is only the payment route and does not guarantee the investment?
If any answer is no, pause and obtain the missing information. The safest interpretation of “invest through bKash” is therefore: apply to the fund through ICB’s documented process, then use bKash only where ICB has confirmed it as an accepted MFS payment method.
