WebDisplays adds interactive web-browser screens to Minecraft Java. For the listed official release, use Minecraft 1.20 or 1.20.1 with Forge, install the same WebDisplays version on the dedicated server and every client, and provide the required Minecraft Chromium Embedded Framework (MCEF) dependency. Without MCEF, screens remain black and web pages do not load.
A separate community Fabric 1.20.1 port follows a different installation path. It requires Fabric Loader 0.14.0 or newer, Fabric API, the Fabric-specific MCEF build, and Java 17 or newer. Do not combine Forge and Fabric jars or assume that an MCEF build for one loader works with the other.

The official project page describes WebDisplays as a mod for creating and interacting with web browsers in Minecraft. Its listed 1.20.1 release, WebDisplays 2.0.2-1.20.1, is dated October 19, 2024 on the project listing. The listing recorded 2,442,902 total downloads on October 15, 2026; that number is a snapshot, not a performance or compatibility guarantee.

- Now Minecraft lovers can play a special version of UNO!
- Same as Basic UNO but features Minecraft characters and includes special Creeper rule card. Draw this card and the other players have to draw three more cards from the pile!
- The goal is to get rid of all the cards in your hand.
- First player or team to 500 wins.
- When you're down to one card, don't forget to yell "UNO"!
What you need before installation
- A Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1 installation. The official project also targets 1.20, but the exact file covered here is the 1.20.1 build.
- Either a Forge server and Forge clients, or a Fabric 1.20.1 server and Fabric clients. Every participant must use the same loader family.
- The matching WebDisplays jar for that loader and Minecraft version.
- MCEF, the Minecraft Chromium Embedded Framework, in a build compatible with the chosen loader and Minecraft version. WebDisplays cannot render browser content without it.
- Access to the server’s
modsdirectory and the ability to place matching jars in each player’s clientmodsdirectory. - A backup of the world and server configuration before adding or changing mods.
Download files from the project pages you trust, and check the filename and version before copying them. A jar that merely contains “WebDisplays” in its name is not necessarily compatible with your loader.
Install the official Forge release
This is the recommended path for the maintained release listed for Minecraft 1.20.1. Perform the server and client portions with the server stopped, then test the complete set together.

- Set the Minecraft version and loader. Create or select a Minecraft Java 1.20.1 Forge profile for the server and for every client. Do not let one player launch a vanilla, Fabric, or different-version profile.
- Prepare the dedicated server. Install the matching Forge server for Minecraft 1.20.1 and start it once so Forge creates its normal directory structure. Accept the Minecraft EULA through the server’s normal setup process, if your installation has not already done so.
- Copy WebDisplays to the server. Place
WebDisplays 2.0.2-1.20.1in the server’smodsdirectory. Keep the original filename or record the exact version so you can reproduce the installation. - Add the compatible MCEF dependency. Put the MCEF build required by the selected WebDisplays release in the server environment where that build expects it. MCEF is not optional: without a compatible initialization, the mod has no Chromium engine from which to draw pages.
- Install the identical set on clients. Every player copies the same WebDisplays version and the matching MCEF build into the client-side
modsdirectory. “Identical” means the same Minecraft version, loader family, WebDisplays release, and dependency build—not simply a mod with a similar name. - Start and inspect the server. Launch the server once with the new files, then stop it cleanly. Read the startup log for missing-mod, wrong-version, or dependency errors. This first start is an operational check; if it reports a mismatch, correct the files before inviting players.
- Restart after corrections and connect. Start the server again and have a client using the same Forge profile join. A client that lacks WebDisplays or its required MCEF build may be rejected during mod negotiation, or may join with unusable browser screens depending on the mismatch.
The official project page references an outdated original wiki. Treat old wiki instructions cautiously and use the release metadata for the Minecraft and loader versions you actually installed. No separate dedicated-server Chromium archive procedure is established for this original Forge release, so do not copy archive instructions from an unrelated project.

- The classic UNO card game builds fun on game night with a Minecraft theme.
- UNO Minecraft features a deck and storage tin decorated with graphics from the popular video game.
- Players match colors and numbers to the card on top of the discard pile as in the classic game.
- The Creeper card unique to this deck forces other players to draw 3 cards.
- Makes a great gift for kid, teen, adult and family game nights with 2 to 10 players ages 7 years and older, especially Minecraft and video game fans.
Install the community Fabric 1.20.1 port
The Fabric port is a separate code line, not a conversion of the official Forge jar. Its maintainer documents four prerequisites: Fabric Loader 0.14.0 or newer, Fabric API for Minecraft 1.20.1, MCEF for Fabric 1.20.1, and Java 17 or newer.
- Install Java 17 or newer. Make sure the Java runtime used by the server process—not only the Java selected by a graphical launcher—meets the requirement.
- Install Fabric Loader 0.14.0 or newer for 1.20.1. Use the same Minecraft version on the server and clients.
- Add Fabric API. Place the Fabric API jar for Minecraft 1.20.1 in the server’s
modsdirectory and install the same compatible API on each client. - Add Fabric MCEF. Install the MCEF build specifically documented for Fabric 1.20.1. A Forge MCEF jar is not an interchangeable substitute.
- Copy the port jar. Place
webdisplays-fabric-1.0.0.jarin the servermodsdirectory, then put that same version in each player’s Fabric clientmodsdirectory. - Verify the first launch. Start the Fabric server, review its log, stop it, and fix any missing dependency or Java error before restarting. Then connect with a client carrying the complete matching set.
The Fabric repository documents additional blocks and permissions features. Those capabilities belong to that port and should not be assumed to exist in the official Forge release. Conversely, instructions written for the Forge distribution do not automatically apply to Fabric.
Create your first WebDisplays screen
Once the server and client load the same compatible mod set, you can build a screen in the world. The documented interaction uses a rectangular arrangement of screen blocks.

- Build a rectangle at least 2 by 2. Place the WebDisplays screen blocks as a contiguous rectangle. A one-block-wide or one-block-tall arrangement is below the documented minimum.
- Right-click the bottom-left block. Use the normal interaction button while aiming at the block in the rectangle’s lower-left corner. This creates the screen from the rectangle.
- Set the address. Hold the sneak key (normally Shift) and right-click the created screen to enter its URL. Use the exact address you intend to open, then confirm it through the prompt shown by the mod.
- Test interaction. Click or otherwise interact with the rendered browser surface as the mod permits. If the surface is black rather than showing a browser, stop troubleshooting the URL and check MCEF first.
The Fabric port also documents a Linker for connecting peripherals and a MinePad as a portable browser. These are optional features; a basic screen only requires the rectangle, the bottom-left creation click, and the URL action.
Configuration and server-side checks
The Fabric setup documentation names config/webdisplays.json as the configuration file. Inspect that file only after the mod has successfully loaded; editing configuration cannot compensate for a missing or incompatible MCEF installation. Back up the file before changing values so you can return to a known working state.
Keep the server’s world backup separate from the client mod downloads. A world backup lets you recover screen builds and other mod data if a version change causes a problem, while a copy of the exact jars lets every player reproduce the working environment.

For a public server, distribute the exact mod list and versions through your normal player documentation. Do not describe the setup as “WebDisplays only” when MCEF and, for Fabric, Fabric API are also required. The dependency list is part of the installation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Troubleshoot a black screen or failed connection
The screen is completely black
Missing MCEF is the critical cause identified by the maintainer documentation. Confirm that MCEF is present, that its loader and Minecraft version match WebDisplays, and that it initializes during startup. A URL cannot render until the Chromium component has loaded.
The server stops with a missing-mod or dependency error
- Read the first dependency error in the log rather than only the final shutdown message.
- Check that WebDisplays, MCEF, the loader, and Minecraft all belong to the same path: Forge 1.20.1 or Fabric 1.20.1.
- For Fabric, verify Fabric API and Java 17 or newer.
- Remove duplicate jars for different versions, then restart with one deliberate version of each dependency.
A client cannot join the server
Compare the client’s complete mod set with the server’s set. A client running the right Minecraft version but the wrong loader, WebDisplays release, or MCEF build is still incompatible. Have the player close the game before replacing jars so the launcher cannot retain an old loaded copy.

The browser does not appear after the screen is created
First verify that the rectangle is at least 2 by 2 and that the bottom-left block was right-clicked. Then use the documented Shift-right-click action to set the URL. If the block interaction works but the surface remains black, return to MCEF initialization rather than rebuilding the screen repeatedly.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →You followed an old wiki page
The official project page identifies the original wiki as outdated. Compare every suggested file with the current release metadata and your actual Minecraft/loader version. Do not import instructions for a different WebDisplays project or for a different loader.
Updating without breaking the installation
- Record the currently working Minecraft version, loader version, WebDisplays jar, MCEF build, and any Fabric API dependency.
- Back up the world,
configdirectory, and server properties. - Change one component at a time, beginning with a release that explicitly supports the same Minecraft version.
- Update the server and every client together. Never leave a player on the previous WebDisplays or MCEF build while testing the new server set.
- Start the server with no players connected, inspect the log, and create a test screen before scheduling normal play.
- If the update fails, restore the complete previous set instead of mixing old and new jars.
Loader choice is a permanent decision for that installation until you migrate deliberately. The official Forge release and the community Fabric port have separate requirements, feature sets, and dependency builds; treating them as interchangeable is the most common structural mistake when planning an installation.
The Bottom Line
For the official release, run Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge, install WebDisplays 2.0.2-1.20.1 and its compatible MCEF dependency on the dedicated server and every client, then create a screen from a 2×2-or-larger rectangle. Choose the Fabric port only when you can meet its separate Fabric Loader, Fabric API, Fabric MCEF, and Java 17 requirements.
