Install TakistanPlus by downloading Workshop item 2563233742 for DayZ (App ID 221100) together with its required Dabs Framework dependency (Workshop ID 2545327648). Place the files in named @Dabs Framework and @TakistanPlus folders at the server root, load Dabs Framework first in the semicolon-separated -mod= parameter, install the Offline.TakistanPlus mission, and copy the supplied key files into keys. Clients must install the same Workshop content.
The procedure below covers SteamCMD and managed-panel installations, mission configuration, sandstorm settings, safe updates, and the log checks that usually explain a failed start.
What TakistanPlus requires
TakistanPlus is a terrain mod for DayZ dedicated servers. Its Workshop listing identifies Dabs Framework as a required item, so installing only the map is incomplete. Use these identifiers when downloading or selecting the mods:

The author describes a 12,800 × 12,800 metre terrain (164 km²) containing about 480,000 placed objects, credited to CypeRevenge in 2021. Those figures describe the published map and are not a performance guarantee for your hardware or server configuration.

Before you install
Have administrative access to the server files or to the host’s Mod Manager, and make a backup of the current server configuration, mission folder, and persistence data. Confirm that the Workshop items are still available and compatible with the DayZ version you are running. Steam may show removal or incompatibility notices on an item page; a notice is a reason to verify the author’s current change notes before proceeding, not a signal to substitute an unverified download.
- Know the absolute path to the DayZ server root, where the server executable and
mpmissionsdirectory live. - Keep a copy of
serverDZ.cfg, the live mission, and persistence files outside the installation directory. - Plan for every player to install the same TakistanPlus and Dabs Framework Workshop versions.
- Ensure you can read the RPT file, web console, or log viewer after the first boot.
Choose a self-hosted or managed-panel workflow
Both approaches install the same files. The difference is who performs the download, folder naming, key installation, and update operation.

A documented managed-host workflow is to stop the server, open Mod Manager, install TakistanPlus, allow the panel to install Dabs Framework, then start the server while watching the console or log viewer. The panel does not remove the need to select the correct mission or review updates.
Step 1: Verify the official Workshop items
Open the TakistanPlus Workshop item and confirm that its ID is 2563233742. Check the required-items section for Dabs Framework, whose ID is 2545327648. Subscribe or otherwise select both items through Steam or your host’s Workshop installer. Do not rely on a folder named only with a number or on an old copy from another server; use the current item metadata and change notes.
TakistanPlus is a client-and-server map. A server can have the files while a player does not, but that player will not be able to join successfully. Tell players to install both required Workshop items before testing.

Step 2: Download the files with SteamCMD
On a self-hosted Windows server, the DayZ Modding Wiki documents SteamCMD’s Workshop command. Replace <WorkshopID> with each item ID and use an account that can download the item:

C:DayZServersteamappsworkshopcontent221100<WorkshopID>The numeric directory is Steam’s storage location; it is normally not the value used in the server’s -mod= list. Copy the contents, or create junctions, into clearly named folders at the DayZ server root. A typical layout is:

C:DayZServermpmissionsOffline.TakistanPlus...Use the exact folder or metadata name expected by your server tooling. Spaces in a folder name are valid when the launch parameter is parsed correctly. If you use junctions, point each junction at the matching numeric Workshop directory and confirm that the target remains present after a SteamCMD update.
Step 3: Configure the launch parameters
DayZ reads mod paths relative to the server root. Separate entries with semicolons and load dependencies before the mods that depend on them:

-mod=@Dabs Framework;@TakistanPlusWhy the order matters
Dabs Framework supplies components TakistanPlus expects during startup. Reversing the entries can produce a missing-dependency or initialization error even when both folders are present. Keep the dependency first whenever you add other mods to the same parameter.
Use -mod=, not -servermod=, for the map
-servermod= is intended for server-only modifications that clients do not load. TakistanPlus changes the terrain and must be available to connecting clients, so it belongs in -mod=. Put only genuinely server-side packages in -servermod=, following their own documentation.
Match the client loadout
Players need TakistanPlus and Dabs Framework installed at compatible versions. If a client has an older Workshop build, the server may reject the connection or report a signature/version mismatch. Give players the same item names and IDs you used, rather than asking them to search for similarly named third-party uploads.
Step 4: Install and select the TakistanPlus mission
The terrain package uses its own mission directory. Copy Offline.TakistanPlus from the TakistanPlus mission package into the server’s mpmissions directory:
C:DayZServermpmissionsOffline.TakistanPlusOpen serverDZ.cfg, or the equivalent configuration editor in your host panel, and set the mission name to Offline.TakistanPlus. The exact configuration syntax varies by server template, but the value must match the folder name exactly, including capitalization and punctuation. Restart after saving the configuration.

Keep TakistanPlus mission files separate from Chernarus
Do not leave the server pointed at the default Chernarus mission. TakistanPlus loot tables, spawn definitions, and related files live in its own mission folder. For example, edits to types.xml must be made under mpmissionsOffline.TakistanPlus, not in a Chernarus directory that the server never reads.
Preserve custom XML changes
If you have customized types.xml or other mission XML files, record those changes before installing the map. Keep a clean copy of the distributed mission and a separate copy of your edits so that future updates can be merged rather than overwritten.

Step 5: Install key files for a manual setup
Manual installations require signature keys. Copy the TakistanPlus .bikey supplied with the downloaded mod into the server’s keys directory. Copy any dependency key supplied by Dabs Framework there as well:

C:DayZServerkeys<dependency-key>.bikeyThe actual filenames depend on the current Workshop build, so copy the files that are present rather than inventing names. A managed panel may place keys automatically; still inspect the generated keys directory or panel file list when diagnosing a signature error.
Step 6: Start the server and validate the first boot
- Stop any existing DayZ server process before changing mod folders, mission files, or launch parameters.
- Confirm that both
@Dabs Frameworkand@TakistanPlusexist at the server root and contain their downloaded content. - Check that
-mod=@Dabs Framework;@TakistanPlusis present exactly once in the startup command and that no obsolete numeric Workshop path is being used. - Verify that
mpmissionsOffline.TakistanPlusexists and thatserverDZ.cfgselectsOffline.TakistanPlus. - Confirm that all required
.bikeyfiles are inkeys. - Start the server and watch the web console, RPT, or host log viewer from the first line through the mission load.
- Join with a test client that has both Workshop items installed. Check that the player spawns on TakistanPlus, not Chernarus, and that the expected mission files are active.
Successful startup should show the dependency and map being discovered without a missing-addon or signature error, followed by the TakistanPlus mission loading. A server process that remains running is not sufficient proof: a wrong mission can let the process start while silently loading the wrong terrain or loot configuration.

Configure the TakistanPlus sandstorm
The map advertises warm sandstorms. During a storm, players should seek shelter inside a building or vehicle; remaining outside can cause overheating and rapid dehydration. The author directs server owners to the included README ServerSettings.txt for mission-side sandstorm setup.
Read that file in the version you installed and apply its settings inside your TakistanPlus mission. Keep a copy of the original instructions and your edited files, because mission updates can replace the README or introduce new settings. Test a storm with a controlled character before enabling it on a public server so you can verify shelter behavior, heat, and hydration effects.
Update the map without losing your mission edits
Workshop content and the mission are two separate update tracks. Updating the map or Dabs Framework does not automatically update an edited Offline.TakistanPlus mission.
Update the Workshop mods
- Stop the server and back up the live mod folders, launch parameters, mission, and persistence data.
- Run SteamCMD again for Workshop IDs
2563233742and2545327648, or use the panel’s Mod Manager update action. - Check the downloaded folder names and key files after the update.
- Start the server and inspect the RPT for dependency or version errors before allowing players to connect.
Update the mission separately
A managed panel may create a new directory named Offline.TakistanPlus_UPDATED. Treat it as a staging copy. Compare it with the live mission, then merge or cherry-pick your custom XML edits into the updated folder. Copy persistence files as directed by the panel or your backup plan. Only after reviewing the merge should you change serverDZ.cfg to point to the updated mission name.
For a manual update, unpack the new mission beside the live one, compare files with a diff tool, and carry over only intentional customizations. Never delete the old mission or persistence backup until the new version has started successfully and players can spawn.
Troubleshoot common failures

Licensing and monetized servers
The TakistanPlus Workshop listing grants end-user rights to download, install, and play the terrain with DayZ in its original form, while restricting redistribution, modification, and certain commercial uses. It also states a condition or ceiling for server monetization. Read the current license text on the Workshop item and compare it with current Bohemia Interactive server rules before operating a monetized server. This is a practical reminder to verify the terms, not legal advice.
