The safest current route for PC skate. mods is the unofficial ReSkate launcher: verify that your game build is supported, download the launcher only from its project release channel, keep backups of ReSkate data, and install or toggle modifications through the launcher’s controls. To restore a Steam installation, first disable ReSkate mods and preserve your profiles, then use Steam’s Verify integrity of game files. That repairs Steam-managed files, but it is not a guaranteed remover for separate launcher files, profiles, or every third-party modification.
What this guide covers
This guide is specifically for the current PC version of skate. and the unofficial ReSkate project. ReSkate has its own launcher, supported-build checks, mod controls, and data locations. Instructions for a different mod, fork, injector, or launcher may not work and should not be inferred from this article.
EA lists PC distribution through the EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam in its official download information. The explicit file-repair procedure documented here is for Steam. Do not apply the Steam menus to another store unless that platform’s current support documentation confirms an equivalent process.
Full Circle’s October 9, 2026 developer update says it supports player creativity while drawing a boundary around mods that bypass EA systems to unlock paid cosmetics, release gated or unreleased content, or profit from unauthorized assets. It also says official secure tools for broader community creation are being built, but gives no release date or installation procedure for them. Read the developer update for the current policy.

Before installing: the safety checklist
- Confirm the platform. Identify whether your copy is from Steam, the EA app, or Epic. Only the Steam restoration steps below are directly documented by the platform.
- Check the live ReSkate documentation. Release notes and supported-build information can change. The retrieved README lists Steam build
25414733as supported; treat that number as time-sensitive rather than permanent. - Use the original project release channel. Do not substitute an unknown fork, repack, mirror, or “unlocker.” ReSkate warns that its mods alter game data and that custom scripts can execute code.
- Back up data you cannot replace. ReSkate documents offline profiles at
%LOCALAPPDATA%ReSkateprofilesofflineand game settings and saves at%LOCALAPPDATA%ReSkateGame. Copy these folders to a separate location before deleting files or troubleshooting. - Keep your account private. Never give anyone your EA or skate. account credentials. EA warns that sharing account information can lead to account theft, loss of content, or account deletion; its guidance is available in EA’s play-by-the-rules article.
- Leave security software enabled. A warning deserves investigation, not an automatic exception. A DLL that injects into a process, changes memory, or downloads over HTTPS can resemble malware, even when those techniques are used by a legitimate modding tool.
How ReSkate works
ReSkate is a separate, unofficial project rather than an EA game option. Its launcher checks whether the installed game matches a supported build, loads the project’s components, and provides a MODS page for adding packages. Enabled and disabled mods are then controlled through the in-game MODS tab. The project documentation also describes offline play, private servers, custom maps, and other modifications; those capabilities are not the same thing as EA’s ordinary service.
The project documentation says that mods made for different game builds, or mods that cannot merge cleanly, may be left out. A launcher that refuses a package is therefore not proof that the download is broken: it may be protecting the current build from an incompatible change.
How do I install skate mods safely?
- Identify your store installation. Open the game through the platform where you own it and note whether it is Steam, EA app, or Epic. Do not continue with a Steam-specific repair assumption if your copy is elsewhere.
- Read the current project release notes. Open the ReSkate project documentation, check the latest release, and confirm that your game build is listed as supported. The README’s Steam build
25414733is a snapshot, not a promise that every later build remains compatible. - Download the latest release ZIP from the project’s own release channel. Avoid third-party download pages and modified launchers. Keep the ZIP until you have confirmed that the installation works so you can identify exactly what you downloaded.
- Extract the two launcher files. Extract
ReSkateLauncher.exeandReSkate.dlleither besideSkate.exeor into an empty folder, following the README’s supported layout. Do not scatter copies across several game directories; duplicate DLLs make later troubleshooting ambiguous. - Start the launcher normally. Run
ReSkateLauncher.exe. It checks the installed build before presenting the Play option. If the build is unsupported, stop and consult the current project notes instead of forcing the launch. - Launch through ReSkate. Select Play in the launcher. A successful start should take you into the ReSkate environment rather than silently altering the ordinary game installation.
- Install one mod first. Open the launcher’s MODS page and use its install control. The README also supports dragging a mod ZIP or folder into that page. Add a package only when you know where it came from and what game build it targets.
- Enable the mod in game. Open the in-game MODS tab and enable the package. Add and activate changes one at a time; if a problem appears, the last change is an identifiable rollback point.
- Test a low-risk function. Start with a mode or map that does not require paid cosmetics, unreleased content, or account access. Watch for crashes, missing assets, unexpected network behavior, or a launcher message about incompatibility.
- Record what you changed. Keep the mod name, version, source URL, install date, and whether it was enabled. That short inventory makes it possible to undo a bad combination without deleting user data.
Choosing and combining mods
Check provenance before convenience
A ZIP is executable content even when it looks like a collection of maps or textures. Prefer the original project page, a visible version history, and release notes that identify the target game build. Treat “fixed,” “undetected,” or “all cosmetics unlocked” packages as high-risk claims. The last category also conflicts with Full Circle’s stated boundary when it bypasses EA systems to unlock paid items.
Expect build and merge conflicts
ReSkate’s README says the launcher can omit mods made for a different build or mods that cannot merge cleanly. Install compatible packages in small batches, launch after each batch, and disable the most recent package when a conflict begins. Do not rename DLLs or edit game files to bypass a compatibility check.

Do not weaken Windows security to force a launch
PC Gamer reported on October 7, 2026 that Windows antivirus products may flag ReSkate. The report quoted a ReSkate moderator who said DLL injection, process and memory modification, and HTTPS downloads can resemble malware. Those techniques do not establish that every ReSkate build or fork is malicious, but assurances alone do not establish that every file is safe either. Leave antivirus and Windows protections active, inspect the exact file and source, and stop if a warning identifies a different publisher, unexpected executable, or tampered archive. Never advise disabling protection merely to complete installation.
Keep the ordinary game and modded environment distinct
ReSkate’s offline profiles and game data are documented as separate from the normal game’s data. That separation is useful, but it is not a guarantee that every third-party mod respects it. Back up both ReSkate paths before experimenting, and avoid copying saves between environments unless the mod documentation explicitly says they are compatible.
How do I restore the original game after modding?
1. Stop using the modded launcher
Close the game and ReSkate launcher. In the ReSkate in-game MODS tab, disable installed mods. If the launcher provides an uninstall or removal control for a package, use that control before touching files. Keep a written list of anything you added outside the launcher.

2. Preserve profiles, settings, and saves
Copy the following project-specific locations to a backup folder before deleting or repairing anything:

The paths above come from ReSkate’s documentation. Back up any other data you value before removing folders; do not assume that a platform repair preserves third-party files.
3. Verify Steam’s game files
For a Steam copy, use Steam’s documented repair flow:
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click skate. and choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Choose Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for Steam to finish. Steam says verification can take several minutes.
Steam’s explanation is available at Verify Integrity of Game Files. Steam also notes that some local configuration files may fail verification normally because they are not supposed to be replaced.

What Steam verification does not promise
Verification checks files managed by Steam against the platform’s expected files. It is not documented as a universal mod-cleanup utility. It may not remove a separately stored ReSkateLauncher.exe, ReSkate.dll, a mod archive, a custom profile, a settings folder, or every third-party change. Review the location where you extracted ReSkate and remove only files you can identify after your backups are safe.

4. Confirm the unmodded launch
After verification, launch the game from Steam without starting ReSkate. Check that the title reaches the normal menu and that your expected account data is present. If you need the ReSkate environment again, restore or reinstall it from the current project documentation rather than reusing an unknown leftover executable.

The absence of a documented equivalent is not proof that repair is impossible; it means a menu path should not be invented. Platform launchers can store files differently, and a procedure that works on Steam can leave another installation incomplete or damaged.

Policy boundaries and account safety
Full Circle’s policy is permissive about creativity but not unlimited. Its October 9, 2026 statement says: “Where we have to draw the line is when mods or other tools bypass our systems to unlock paid cosmetics, release gated/unreleased content, or profit from these unauthorized assets.” A mod that changes maps or enables an offline environment is a different category from a tool intended to defeat purchase, release, or access controls.
The same update says: “We are building official, secure access tools that enable broader, deeper community creation, with more to come when we’re ready to share.” That is a future-facing policy and product statement, not a current installer. Until official tools and instructions are published, treat ReSkate as an independent project with independent risks.

Never enter an EA password into a mod launcher, send account tokens to a mod author, or share account details in a support chat. Use a separate Windows backup and keep your account recovery information private.
What the download count does—and does not—tell you
PC Gamer reported 350,000 ReSkate downloads as of October 7, 2026. That is a publisher-reported download count, not a verified number of unique users, a safety certification, or a success rate. Popularity cannot replace checking the release source, build compatibility, file identity, and behavior on your own system.
A practical decision guide
- Choose the ordinary game when you need the standard EA environment, have no reason to run custom content, or cannot confirm that your build is supported.
- Choose ReSkate cautiously when you specifically want its documented offline, private-server, custom-map, or other mod capabilities and are willing to maintain separate backups and a mod inventory.
- Delay installation when the only available download is an unknown fork, when antivirus identifies a suspicious publisher or modified archive, or when the project documentation does not list your build.
- Restore first when troubleshooting an unexplained crash: disable mods, back up the two ReSkate data paths, inspect the launcher files, and use Steam verification only for a Steam installation.
This approach keeps the reversible steps first, protects progress before deletion, and avoids treating one platform’s repair command as a universal solution.
