Install Devin Desktop on Ubuntu 24.04 or 26.04 by adding the official Debian package repository, refreshing APT, and installing devin-desktop. Devin’s guide specifies this route for Ubuntu 20.04 and later, which includes both releases; it does not provide a separate test result for either version.
What you need to know first
The official Devin Desktop guide lists its deb-based installation for Ubuntu 20.04 and later. Ubuntu 24.04 and 26.04 meet that stated minimum, but the guide does not publish a release-by-release compatibility test matrix.
The repository entry in the guide is for amd64. Its key and repository URLs retain the former Windsurf name, while the current package to install is devin-desktop; the guide identifies the legacy URL naming as expected. Use the commands below as documented rather than replacing the host or key path.

wget -qO- "https://windsurf-stable.codeiumdata.com/wVxQEIWkwPUEAGf3/windsurf.gpg" | gpg --dearmor > windsurf-stable.gpg
sudo install -D -o root -g root -m 644 windsurf-stable.gpg /etc/apt/keyrings/windsurf-stable.gpg
echo "deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/windsurf-stable.gpg] https://windsurf-stable.codeiumdata.com/wVxQEIWkwPUEAGf3/apt stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/windsurf.list > /dev/null

Follow the onboarding prompts and sign in with a Devin account; the guide says users can sign up for free. If you want to start the IDE from a terminal, leave the option to install the devin-desktop terminal command enabled during onboarding. For example:
devin-desktop ~/Developer/my-projectThe Devin Desktop product page describes Devin Desktop as the new name for Windsurf. It says existing users can receive the change through a standard over-the-air update or download the latest Desktop version, with plans, pricing, extensions, settings, and in-progress work carrying over. See the Devin Desktop product page for those details. The getting-started guide also mentions API-key login as an alternative if sign-in trouble occurs.

Choose the right Linux package
For Ubuntu, use the deb repository steps above when you want package-manager updates. The official guide also lists a Linux tarball, but says it does not update itself. Its RPM route is intended for Fedora 36+, CentOS 8+, and RHEL 8+, not Ubuntu.
Do not substitute the Devin CLI shell installer for these steps: Devin CLI is a separate terminal-based product, not the desktop IDE. Its Linux installation instructions are on the official Devin CLI page.
