Download Chrome from Google’s official download page, run the installer, and follow its prompts. Chrome is free to download and install. Before you start, check that your processor meets Google’s Windows requirements: Intel PCs need Windows 10 or later and an Intel Pentium 4 or later that supports SSE3; ARM PCs need Windows 11 or later.
Check your Windows 11 PC’s requirements
Google lists different minimum requirements depending on the processor:
- Intel processor: Windows 10 or later, plus an Intel Pentium 4 or later that supports SSE3.
- ARM processor: Windows 11 or later.
To check your processor type, open Start > Settings > System > About and look under Device specifications. Google’s current requirements are on its Chrome download and installation help page.
Download and install Chrome directly on the PC
- Open Google’s official Chrome download page.
- Choose the download option shown for your Windows PC and save the installation file.
- Open the downloaded file. If Windows asks whether to run it, select Run. If Windows asks whether to allow the app to make changes, select Yes.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. When installation finishes, open Chrome.
The installer may take a moment to download and run. These steps use Google’s standard Windows installation process.

If Chrome will not download on the target PC
Google documents an offline installation route: download the installer on another computer, transfer it to the Windows 11 PC, then run it there.
- On another computer, open Google’s Chrome offline installation instructions.
- Under Chrome family, select Other platforms, then choose the target operating system and download the installer.
- Move the downloaded file to the Windows 11 PC. A USB flash drive is one option, but Google does not require a particular transfer method.
- Open the file on the target PC and follow the installation prompts.
Make Chrome the default browser (optional)
Installing Chrome does not automatically make it the default browser. In Windows 11, open Start > Settings > Apps > Default apps, search for Chrome, select Google Chrome, then choose Set default. Review the file and link types shown there to confirm the change. Once set, links open in Chrome; you can change the default browser later. See Google’s instructions for making Chrome the default browser and Microsoft’s Windows default-app settings guidance.
