You cannot install the full DREADMOOR Early Access release yet. The official Steam listing currently gives the full game a planned Q4 2026 release and says it is not available as the complete product. You can play the separate DREADMOOR Demo on Steam now. Install that demo, start a new game, and treat any older playtest save as disposable unless a later build explicitly says it is compatible.
Is DREADMOOR Early Access available yet?
As of October 16, 2026, the full DREADMOOR product is not available on Steam. Its official store page lists a planned release window of Q4 2026, but it does not provide a final Early Access launch date or final Early Access specifications. Searching Steam for the full title can therefore be confusing: the full-game listing and the separately listed demo are different entries.
The currently documented playable build is the DREADMOOR Demo. It is a single-player Steam demo with Steam Cloud and Steam Achievements. Installing the demo is the correct way to play DREADMOOR before the full release. Do not assume that owning or installing the demo grants access to Early Access when that product launches.

What the game is
DREADMOOR is described as a dark, first-person fishing adventure in a flooded world. Its advertised activities include fishing, upgrading a boat, crafting survival gear, exploring submerged areas, and fighting creatures on land and water. The demo is an early playable sample, not a published specification for the eventual Early Access scope, balance, performance, or save system.

What happened to the 2026 playtest?
An official September 2026 announcement described an open playtest. That was a dated event, not evidence that a permanent Early Access branch is available now. If Steam later shows a separate playtest entry, use the access process described in the next section rather than downloading an unverified third-party build.
Install the DREADMOOR Demo on Steam
Use the official DREADMOOR Demo store entry, not a similarly named community upload or the full-game page. The demo is a Windows PC build distributed through Steam.
- Open Steam and find the official DREADMOOR Demo page. Search for the exact title and confirm that the page identifies the product as the demo.
- Select Install Demo. The button is on the demo’s store page. If you see a purchase or wishlist control for the full game instead, you are viewing the wrong listing.
- Choose a Steam library and storage drive. Pick the library with enough free space for the installation. The full-game listing calls for 60GB of available storage; the demo page does not publish a separate download-size figure, so keeping at least that amount free is the safest preparation.
- Wait for Steam to finish downloading. Leave Steam open until the download and installation status reaches completion. A partially downloaded demo may appear in your library but will not launch reliably.
- Open Library and select DREADMOOR Demo. Click Play from the demo’s library page.
- Choose Start a New Game. The published playtest guidance uses the instruction, “Launch DREADMOOR and start a new game.” Starting clean avoids carrying an incompatible test save into the current build.
How to confirm you installed the right product
- The library entry should be labeled DREADMOOR Demo, not only DREADMOOR.
- The store description should identify it as a single-player demo.
- The demo listing advertises Steam Cloud and Steam Achievements.
- The full DREADMOOR page still shows the complete release as planned rather than available.

The current detailed hardware guidance comes from the official demo announcement and the Steam listing. Compare your system with both the minimum and recommended columns before downloading.

The 60GB figure is the available-space requirement shown on the 2026 Steam listing. It is not a stated demo download size. Keep the full amount available because Steam may need working room while downloading, unpacking, and updating files. A machine with 16GB of RAM and an RTX 4060 or Radeon RX 7600 is aligned with the published recommended tier, but the final Early Access requirements have not been published.
How to compare your PC
- Check that you are using a Windows PC, since the cited announcements describe the demo as a Steam PC/Windows build.
- Compare your processor model with the minimum and recommended examples. A newer model is not automatically equivalent; check its performance against the listed class.
- Check the dedicated GPU model and its video-memory capacity. The minimum examples specify 6GB for the GTX 1060 and 8GB for the RX 580.
- Confirm installed system RAM. 8GB is the minimum; 16GB is the recommended target.
- Open Steam’s storage view and verify that the selected library has at least 60GB free before pressing Install Demo.
These figures describe the published demo guidance. They do not guarantee a particular frame rate, resolution, or graphics preset, and they should not be treated as final specifications for Early Access.

Start clean and fix old-save errors
Early builds can change save formats. The official playtest guidance says progress was not intended to carry into future versions. If an old save produces errors, crashes, or a failed load, remove the old save folder and begin again.
Reset procedure in Steam
- Open Steam Library.
- Right-click DREADMOOR. Use the installed game entry shown by Steam; if you installed only the demo, select its corresponding DREADMOOR entry.
- Choose Manage, then Browse local files.
- In the opened installation window, open the Dreadmoor folder.
- Find the folder named Saved.
- Delete the Saved folder completely.
- Relaunch DREADMOOR from Steam and select Start a New Game.
Deleting Saved removes local progress. Back it up elsewhere only if you understand that restoring it may recreate the original problem. Playtest progress should be considered disposable unless a later build explicitly confirms migration.
If the reset does not help
- Close the game and Steam completely, then reopen Steam and try a new launch.
- Check that the installation finished and that the selected library still has free space.
- Use Steam’s installed-file verification option before reinstalling; this checks for damaged or missing local files without immediately deleting the installation.
- Update your graphics driver through the driver publisher’s normal Windows support process, then restart the PC.
- If the error appears only when loading an old profile, repeat the reset and start a genuinely new game rather than selecting a previous slot.
If Steam offers a separate DREADMOOR playtest
The main DREADMOOR Steam page may eventually expose a Request Access control for a separate playtest branch. Use it only when Steam shows that control and grants access to your account.
- Open the main DREADMOOR Steam page.
- Select Request Access if the control is present.
- Wait for Steam to confirm access.
- Install the separate playtest entry that appears in your library.
- Read the current build’s instructions and start a new game unless the developer explicitly states that existing saves are supported.
The September 2026 open playtest was a dated event. Its existence does not mean that the same branch remains open or that its files are the current Early Access build. Do not use old playtest installers or redistributed files to bypass Steam access.
What to expect when you launch the demo
The demo presents the game’s flooded-world premise and its core survival-adventure loop. The official description points to several systems that explain why the hardware requirements are higher than a simple fishing simulator.

Fishing and boat progression
Fishing is a central activity, while the boat is an upgradeable base for moving through the flooded environment. The demo may expose only part of the eventual progression. A mechanic appearing in the demo should not be read as a promise that its balance, upgrade tree, or limits will remain unchanged in Early Access.
Crafting and exploration
The official description includes crafting survival gear and exploring submerged areas. Expect exploration to involve both water and land spaces, with the boat connecting areas of the world. The published materials do not define a complete crafting recipe list, map size, or mission count, so those details should be judged from the build you install rather than assumed from the full-game listing.
Combat
Creatures can be fought on land and in water. The listing does not publish a final enemy roster, difficulty curve, or control scheme for Early Access. Treat combat behavior in the demo as version-specific.
Languages and platform features
The September 2026 playtest announcement listed 12 supported languages. That number may describe the playtest or demo build and may change before the full release. The demo listing also identifies Steam Cloud and Steam Achievements, so Steam can synchronize supported save data and record achievements for the demo account.
Can you stream or record DREADMOOR?
The official September 2026 open-playtest notice said there was no nondisclosure agreement and that participants could stream, record, share screenshots, and discuss their experience. That permission applies to the announced playtest event. It is not a blanket promise for every future build.

Before streaming the demo or a future Early Access branch, read the terms shown on the current Steam page, launcher, or developer announcement. If the new terms differ, follow the newer terms. A gameplay streaming or recording service can be used only where its own current terms and the game’s current permissions allow it.
Steam Deck status
The cited Steam community material says DREADMOOR had not received an official Steam Deck Verified rating. Treat the game as unverified on Steam Deck unless the store page changes. Do not assume that the Windows demo will have tested controls, readable interface scaling, performance, or controller behavior on Deck. The published PC requirements also do not establish a Steam Deck configuration.
Demo versus future Early Access
The following distinction prevents the most common installation mistake: downloading the demo and assuming it is the full Early Access product.

Common installation problems
There is no Install Demo button
Return to the search results and open the entry explicitly labeled DREADMOOR Demo. The full-game page is not the demo installer. If Steam shows only the full-game listing, the demo may not be visible in your current search result; use the official demo entry rather than a similarly named page.

Steam says there is not enough space
Choose a library on a drive with at least 60GB free, then retry the installation. Steam needs room for the download and for unpacking files. Removing temporary files or moving another installed game can create the required headroom.

The demo downloads but will not start
Confirm that Steam reports the installation as complete, restart Steam, and use the installed-file verification option. Compare your processor, graphics card, RAM, and free storage with the published minimums. Updating the graphics driver is a sensible next check before reinstalling.
The game opens but an old save fails
Use Library → right-click DREADMOOR → Manage → Browse local files → Dreadmoor → Saved, delete the Saved folder, relaunch, and start a new game. This removes the local save data that may belong to an earlier playtest build.
You want to continue a September playtest save
Do not assume it will work. The playtest guidance says progress was not intended to carry into future versions. Keep the old files only as a backup; use a clean save for the current demo unless a later developer notice confirms compatibility.

- Watch the official full-game page for the Q4 2026 Early Access release and its eventual requirements.
The developer has also reported reaching 400,000 Steam wishlists, but that milestone does not change the current availability: the demo is playable now, while the full DREADMOOR release remains planned for Q4 2026.
