On a Mac, install Eney through Setapp; on an iPhone, download Eney – AI Assistant from the App Store. The Mac beta requires an Apple-silicon Mac and a signed-in Setapp account, then asks for Accessibility and Full Disk Access permissions. The current Eney product page lists macOS 15 or later, while its beta handbook lists macOS 14 or later, so use the version gate shown by the installer you are using. The iPhone listing requires iOS 26.0 or later and identifies MacPaw Way Ltd as the developer.
What you need before installing Eney
Eney has different distribution and setup paths on each Apple device. The Mac beta is delivered through Setapp, whereas the iPhone version is installed from Apple’s App Store. Your requirements therefore depend on the device you are configuring.

There is a published version discrepancy for Mac. Eney’s current product page displays support for M-series Macs running macOS 15 or newer, while the beta installation handbook states Apple Silicon and macOS 14 or newer. Neither statement should be treated as a universal promise for every release. Check the requirement displayed by your current Eney or Setapp installer first; if it refuses to install, that gate is more relevant than an older handbook entry.
Install Eney on a Mac
1. Confirm the Mac’s chip and macOS version
Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. Confirm that the chip is Apple silicon (an M-series processor), not an Intel processor. Check the macOS version shown there as well. If your Mac is on macOS 14, it matches the beta handbook but may not meet the newer product-page gate of macOS 15 or later. If it is on macOS 15 or later, it meets the current product-page requirement shown in 2026.

- Use the current installer’s requirement as the deciding test when the two official descriptions differ.
- Install pending macOS updates before troubleshooting a rejected installer, provided your Mac supports the update.
- Make sure you have enough free storage for the application and the local models that may be downloaded on first launch; the official instructions do not publish a fixed storage figure.
2. Install Setapp and sign in
Eney for Mac is distributed exclusively through Setapp. Install the Setapp application, open it, and sign in to the Setapp account that has the required access. The beta handbook specifically instructs users to install Setapp and sign in before using Eney. During the beta, the handbook described a seven-day Setapp trial; trial and membership terms can change, so rely on the offer displayed in Setapp rather than assuming that the same trial is still available.
3. Find the correct Eney listing
- Open Setapp after signing in.
- Use Setapp’s search field and enter Eney Beta. The beta handbook uses this exact search term.
- Open the Eney result and verify that it is the Eney beta listing, not an unrelated application.
- Click Install.
- When installation finishes, click Open. You can also launch Eney later from Launchpad or the Applications folder.
If “Eney Beta” does not appear, do not download a random installer from another site. Confirm that Setapp itself is installed, that you are signed in to the intended account, and that your account currently has access to the beta. Availability and entitlement can change as the product moves out of beta.
Complete Eney’s first-run Mac setup
Allow time for local model downloads
The first launch may take longer than subsequent launches because Eney can download local models. Keep the Mac connected to the internet and avoid force-quitting the app while that setup is in progress. The official instructions do not give a guaranteed download duration, so the time will depend on the release, connection and Mac.

- When Eney asks for access, open System Settings.
- Select Privacy & Security.
- Open Full Disk Access.
- Find Eney in the list and switch it on. Authenticate with Touch ID or your administrator password if macOS asks.
- Return to Eney and continue setup. If macOS requests that the app be restarted, quit and reopen it.
Full Disk Access is a broad macOS privacy permission. It is relevant when an assistant must work with files and data in protected locations, but it also increases what the application can read. Enable it only for the Eney installation you trust, and remove the permission later if you stop using those workflows.

Enable Accessibility
- In System Settings > Privacy & Security, open Accessibility.
- Locate Eney and turn on its permission.
- Return to the app and retry the action that needed control of another app or the Mac interface.
Accessibility permission allows software to interact with parts of the user interface. Eney may need it for actions that involve controlling apps rather than merely answering a question. If Eney is listed but its switch is off, turn it on; if it is not listed, start the requested action in Eney again so macOS can present the authorization flow.
Choose optional data connections carefully
Eney’s product description says it can work with data that you explicitly allow, including calendar, notes and email. Treat each connector as a separate decision. Grant access only to the services you intend to use, and review those permissions if your workflow changes. A request to read a calendar is different from a request to send email or alter a file; check the wording of each macOS or in-app prompt before accepting it.
Install and set up Eney on an iPhone
1. Check the iOS requirement
The App Store listing for Eney – AI Assistant states iOS 26.0 or later. On the iPhone, open Settings > General > Software Update and verify the installed version. If the phone is below iOS 26.0, update it if the model supports that release. The App Store will not install a listing whose minimum operating-system requirement is newer than the installed system.
2. Verify the App Store listing
- Open the App Store.
- Search for Eney – AI Assistant.
- Open the result and verify that the developer is MacPaw Way Ltd.
- Tap Get, authenticate with Apple when prompted, and wait for the installation to finish.
- Tap Open, or launch Eney from the Home Screen.
Checking the exact title and developer helps avoid installing a similarly named app. The listing describes the iPhone application as a companion for active Setapp users. If Eney shows a sign-in, subscription or entitlement screen, follow the current prompts in the app; those screens can change with updates.

3. Finish the in-app setup
Allow only the notifications, contacts, calendar, mail or other access that matches the tasks you plan to perform. Eney’s listing describes functions such as answering questions, drafting and sending email, scheduling events, web search, translation, summarization and proofreading. A capability listed in the description does not mean that every connection is enabled automatically. The app may ask you to authenticate or approve access before a particular action works.
If you mainly use Eney at a desk, complete the Mac setup first and use the iPhone app as the mobile companion described by the listing. If you only need mobile questions or text assistance, the iPhone installation can be configured independently, subject to its Setapp entitlement prompts.
What Eney can do after setup
Eney is positioned as a proactive assistant that works across Mac and iPhone. The Mac product description groups its workflows into several areas:

- Ready-to-use workflows and connectors: connections to supported services can let Eney act on information you authorize.
- Meeting notes: the product page presents meeting-note workflows as one of its intended uses.
- Email and notes actions: Eney can work with those sources when you grant the required access.
- Files and documents: file operations depend on macOS permissions, particularly when protected folders are involved.
- Mac cleanup: cleanup actions should be reviewed before you approve changes to files.
- Image and video tasks: these are described as supported workflow categories, but the exact tools and limits can vary by release.
Think of these as available workflow categories rather than a guarantee that every connector is active immediately after installation. The app can only use data and services that you authorize, and a feature may require a particular account, operating-system version or permission.

Mac maintenance: update or remove Eney
Install an offered update
When Eney displays an update prompt, choose Update Now, then select Install and Relaunch. The relaunch is part of the update process, so save work in other applications before accepting it.
Check for updates manually
Right-click Eney and choose Check for Updates. If an update is available, follow the on-screen installation and relaunch steps. Keeping Setapp current as well can help when the Eney listing or entitlement is not behaving as expected.
Remove Eney
- Open the Applications folder in Finder.
- Drag Eney to the Trash.
- Empty the Trash if you are certain you no longer need the application.
Uninstalling the app does not necessarily answer every privacy question. If you granted Accessibility or Full Disk Access, revisit System Settings > Privacy & Security and remove Eney’s entries if they remain. Also review any service-specific permissions you granted through macOS or an integrated account.

Troubleshoot common installation and setup problems
Eney is missing from Setapp
- Confirm that the Setapp application itself is installed and open.
- Sign out and back in to the Setapp account that should have beta access.
- Search for Eney Beta, not only “Eney,” because that is the name used by the beta handbook.
- Check whether your membership or trial is still active. Beta access terms can change.
- Compare your Mac’s chip and macOS version with the current installer gate.
The Mac installer rejects the computer
First confirm the processor in About This Mac. Eney’s documented Mac paths require Apple silicon. Next compare macOS with both published statements: the current product page displays macOS 15 or later, while the beta handbook says macOS 14 or later. If the installer enforces macOS 15, upgrading from macOS 14 may be necessary; if the Mac cannot run that release, the current build may not be available for it.

Eney opens but cannot control apps or access files
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access and verify that Eney is enabled.
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and verify that Eney is enabled there too.
- Quit and reopen Eney after changing either permission.
- Retry the action. If it still fails, check whether the specific file, account or connector also needs separate authorization.
The iPhone app cannot be installed
Check that the phone is running iOS 26.0 or later and that you selected the App Store result named Eney – AI Assistant from MacPaw Way Ltd. If the requirement is met but installation is still unavailable, verify Apple ID authentication, available storage and the current App Store region or account restrictions.
Eney is not responding
- Check the internet connection, especially if the app is downloading models or using an online connector.
- Restart Eney. On iPhone, close and reopen the app; on Mac, quit and relaunch it.
- Install the latest available Eney version using the update controls.
- Recheck the relevant permissions instead of granting every permission again.
- If a single workflow fails, test a basic question first. That helps distinguish a general app problem from a connector-specific authorization issue.
Permission and privacy checklist
- Know which device you are configuring and which distribution channel supplied the app.
- Grant Accessibility only when you want Eney to interact with the Mac interface.
- Grant Full Disk Access only when you need the file or protected-data workflows that require it.
- Approve calendar, notes, email or other connectors individually and only for the account you intend to use.
- Review permissions after changing your workflow, removing Eney or switching accounts.
- Before approving an email send, event change or file operation, verify the target and content in the app.

Do I need Setapp for Eney on Mac?
Yes for the documented Mac beta route. Install Setapp, sign in, search for “Eney Beta,” and install it there. The product page says Mac distribution is exclusive to Setapp. Whether a later non-beta distribution route appears is a separate product decision and should be checked in the current listing.
