PT-PC is a native, unofficial PC port of the 2014 PlayStation 4 teaser P.T.; it is not one of the older Unreal Engine recreations. The port supplies the executable and runtime, but not the game itself. To use it lawfully and safely, you need compatible P.T. data from your own console dump, download the installer from the project’s GitHub Releases page, and confirm that your computer meets the project’s Vulkan and operating-system requirements.
This guide covers the supported file formats, Windows and Linux installation, the portable ZIP option, Steam Deck setup, voice-input alternatives, update settings, integrity checks, and the limits of what the installer can verify.
What PT-PC is—and what it is not
The current project is Lorean Xavier’s PT-PC repository. Its game logic was rebuilt in C++, its renderer uses Vulkan, and it loads levels, models, textures, sound, scripts, and cutscenes at runtime from the player’s own PS4 game files. The repository and installer do not include P.T.’s content.

That makes PT-PC different from fan projects that recreate the hallway and puzzles in another engine. Downloading an executable for the wrong recreation will not give you the same installation process or file requirements. Check that the repository name is LoreanXavier/pt-pc before following any instructions.

PC Gamer reported the native port’s publication in October 2026 and identified Xavier as its developer. Explaining why he made it, Xavier said, “I wanted to make the version of P.T. that my younger self always wished existed.” That is the developer’s stated motivation, not an endorsement by the original rights holders.
The project README says it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Kojima Productions or Konami, and that P.T. remains their work and property. Treat that as the project’s own description rather than a jurisdiction-specific legal ruling.
Check these requirements before downloading
Compatible game data
The README says the port was built and tested with the US release, title identifier CUSA01127. The supported input is either a dump folder made from your own console or a fake PKG created from that dump. The README notes that European and Japanese releases may install with a note, but the developer has not seen their data. Compatibility for those releases is therefore not established in the same way as the US build.
You must already possess the game data. PT-PC does not provide a copy of P.T., and the installer is not a method for obtaining one.
Operating system and graphics API

These are the current repository requirements, not independent hardware benchmarks. If your driver only exposes an older Vulkan version, update the driver through your normal operating-system or GPU-vendor channel before troubleshooting the port.
Voice input is optional
One part of the game can use a microphone, but the README documents a keyboard substitute. To use it, open pt.ini, find the [voice] section, and set key = J. Do not buy a microphone solely for this port unless you prefer voice input.

Steam Deck note
The project README directs Steam Deck users to install from Desktop Mode and then add pt as a non-Steam game. The Deck still needs compatible game data and a Vulkan-capable runtime; adding a shortcut does not bypass either requirement.
Use only a legitimate, supported input
The installer’s documentation says it accepts decrypted dumps and certain fake PKGs made from those dumps. It does not decrypt Sony-encrypted content. Retail or store PKGs are refused, so a store package is not a supported alternative that the setup can unlock for you.
The safe boundary is simple:
- Use a dump made from a copy of the game you lawfully control, or a fake PKG created from that dump.
- Do not download an “already decrypted” game from a file-sharing site or ask the installer to bypass retail encryption.
- Do not redistribute the game archives. PT-PC’s executable and the game’s data are separate things.
The repository’s disclaimer does not settle copyright law in every country. If you are unsure whether making or using a console dump is lawful where you live, check the applicable law or obtain professional advice rather than assuming that the installer changes the answer.
Download the current installer safely
- Open the project’s GitHub repository and select its Releases link. Use the release asset named
P.T.PC.Port.Setup.exeon Windows or the Linux setup binary for Linux. - Ignore reposted installers, links for differently named remakes, and “preloaded” archives that claim to include P.T. data. The project itself is the relevant source for release files.
- Before running a newly downloaded release, revisit the release page. The project is newly published and its binaries, requirements, and instructions can change.
At startup, the installed program checks GitHub Releases for updates. To disable that check, open pt.ini and set check_updates = 0 under [network]. Disabling the check does not freeze the software at a particular version; it only stops the automatic check.
Install on Windows
Standard installer route
- Double-click
P.T.PC.Port.Setup.exefrom the release you downloaded. - When prompted for the game source, choose your supported
CUSA01127dump folder or the fake PKG made from it. Do not select a retail/store PKG. - Choose an installation destination. The README lists
%LocalAppData%ProgramsP.T. PC Portas the default Windows destination. - Allow setup to copy the PT-PC runtime and install the three game archives it requires alongside that runtime.
- Finish the installer and start the installed game from the destination it reports.
If setup rejects the source, stop and identify the input rather than trying random extensions. A rejected retail package is expected behavior; replacing it with an unofficial download is not a safe fix.
What the installer does not do
The setup connects the runtime to the game files you provide. It does not decrypt Sony-encrypted packages, supply missing archives, or validate the legal ownership of your files. If the installer completes but the game later reports missing content, check that the source was a complete dump and that the selected folder is the game root, not a parent folder containing several unrelated folders.

Install on Linux
- Download the Linux setup binary from the repository’s current release.
- Open a terminal in the directory containing that file and make it executable, for example:
chmod +x <setup-file> - Run it from the same terminal:
./<setup-file> - When the setup asks for input, choose the supported dump folder or fake PKG created from your own dump.
- Choose a destination and let the installer place the PT-PC runtime and its three required game archives.
- Launch the installed executable from the destination shown by setup.
Linux support is listed for x86-64 systems with glibc 2.38 or newer. If the binary refuses to start before showing an installer window, verify the architecture and glibc version first; changing the game-data path cannot fix an incompatible system library.
Use the portable ZIP option
The README also documents a portable route for users who do not want a conventional installation.
- Unpack the PT-PC ZIP into a directory you control.
- Either keep your game folder beside the executable at
game/CUSA01127, or pass the folder explicitly when launching. - For the explicit path form, run:
pt.exe --game <your CUSA01127 folder>
The portable layout changes where files are stored; it does not change the requirement for compatible game data or the rejection of retail/store PKGs. Keep the executable and its supporting files together when moving the portable directory.

Confirm the game path
The first useful check is whether PT-PC can see the expected CUSA01127 content. If the program opens and immediately reports missing archives, close it and correct the selected game root. Pointing at a folder one level too high or too low is a common path error when a dump contains nested directories.
Choose optional rendering features conservatively
- Start with the default Vulkan renderer.
- Enable ray-traced effects only when the GPU and driver expose Vulkan ray queries.
- Use DLSS only with a GeForce RTX GPU.
- Use FSR or XeSS only when your GPU and driver support the selected mode.
These options affect rendering; they cannot repair incomplete game archives. If enabling an optional feature causes a crash, turn it off and confirm that the base Vulkan path works before changing anything else.
Set the voice alternative
If you do not want to use a microphone, edit pt.ini and set key = J inside [voice]. Save the file, restart the game, and use the documented key when that interaction occurs.

Safety checks and what they prove
Installer self-integrity check
The installer documentation describes a SHA-256 self-integrity check that can detect a corrupt or truncated setup executable. If that check fails, delete the installer and obtain the same release asset again from the project’s Releases page.

The important limitation
The documentation does not describe a whole-file hash check for the game archives, and the game itself does not check its own files. The setup check therefore proves only that the installer executable passed its documented integrity test. It is not an independent malware scan, an external security certification, or a guarantee that a binary copied from a third-party mirror is safe.
For the strongest provenance, download from the project’s own release page, keep your original dump separate from the installed runtime, and avoid “all-in-one” bundles that do not identify where their game files came from.

There is no supported “store PKG” row because the installer documentation explicitly says those packages are refused and are not decrypted by the helper.

“The installer will not accept my package”
Confirm that the file is a fake PKG created from a decrypted dump, not a retail/store PKG. If you have a dump folder, select the folder instead. The setup’s refusal of an encrypted retail package is a limitation by design, not evidence that another random package will work.

“The game starts but says files are missing”
Recheck that you selected the actual CUSA01127 game root and that the dump is complete. The installer does not perform a whole-file integrity check on the game archives, so a truncated or damaged archive can get past setup and fail only at launch or when a particular asset is needed.

“Vulkan or the GPU is unsupported”
Verify that the operating system is supported, the system is 64-bit, and the graphics driver exposes Vulkan 1.3. Disable optional ray tracing, DLSS, FSR, or XeSS while testing the basic renderer. If Vulkan 1.3 is unavailable, the repository’s listed requirements are not met.
“The Linux setup binary does nothing”
Run chmod +x on the downloaded setup file and launch it with ./. If it still fails before installation, check that the machine is x86-64 and provides glibc 2.38 or newer.
“The voice interaction does not work”
Use the documented keyboard fallback: set key = J in the [voice] section of pt.ini. A microphone is optional for this interaction.
“The downloaded setup appears corrupt”
Use the installer’s SHA-256 self-integrity result as the immediate check. If it reports corruption or truncation, remove that file and download the release asset again from the official repository. Do not treat a passing self-check as proof that an unofficial mirror or bundled game archive is malware-free.
Updates and maintenance
PT-PC checks GitHub Releases for updates when it starts unless [network] check_updates = 0 is set in pt.ini. When updating, read the current release notes and keep a backup of your configuration. Because the project is new and may change, do not assume that an old installer, command-line option, or graphics requirement remains current.
Keep your original game dump in a separate, read-only location where practical. If you need to reinstall, point the new setup at that source rather than repeatedly moving or modifying the only copy. This also makes it easier to distinguish a changed PT-PC runtime from damaged game data.
What a safe installation looks like
- You verified that you are using
LoreanXavier/pt-pc, not an older recreation. - Your source is your own compatible dump or a fake PKG made from that dump.
- You downloaded the executable from the repository’s Releases page.
- Your machine meets Windows/Linux, Vulkan, and architecture requirements.
- You understand that the installer self-check covers the setup executable, not every game archive or the safety of a third-party mirror.
- You know that the project is unofficial and that its disclaimer is not a legal determination for your jurisdiction.
Following those boundaries gives you the supported way to run the native PC port without treating it as a source of P.T. itself or as a tool for bypassing console package encryption.
