Valor Mortis is included on day one with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The game launched on October 13, 2026. On Xbox Series X|S, install it from the Xbox Store or Game Pass area; on a Windows PC, use the Xbox app or Microsoft Store. Xbox also lists Cloud and Handheld availability, but whether streaming works depends on the device, region, account and current cloud-play eligibility shown by Xbox.
You do not need to buy the game separately while it is included in the Game Pass catalog for your account. If you do not have an applicable subscription, the publisher listed a US standalone price of $39.99 at launch; store territory, taxes and later promotions can change that figure.
What you need before installing Valor Mortis
Start by identifying where you intend to play. The official Xbox announcement names four availability categories: Xbox Series X|S, PC, Cloud and Handheld. Those categories describe the platforms announced for the title, not a guarantee that every device or account can use every mode.

Xbox Wire names Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass as the tiers that include Valor Mortis day one. PC Game Pass is the relevant named tier for playing on a Windows PC. Ultimate is the named tier to check when you want the broadest access among the plans specifically identified in the announcement, including the console and cloud categories where your account is eligible.

Catalog membership can change after launch. If you are reading this later, open the current Valor Mortis listing while signed in to the Microsoft account that owns the subscription. The listing, rather than an old article or a cached search result, determines whether the game is currently included for that account and territory.
A Microsoft account signed in on the intended device
Use the same Microsoft account for the Xbox console, Xbox app, Microsoft Store and Game Pass subscription. If a listing shows a purchase price instead of an install or play control, first check the account shown in the app or store and confirm that the subscription is active. A different account can make an included title appear unavailable.
Enough local storage and a reliable connection
The launch announcement does not state an installation size, required free space, minimum PC specification or download speed. Check the current store listing for those values before starting a local download. Leave more free space than the displayed package size when possible because the platform may need temporary room to unpack or update the installation. A stable connection matters for both downloading and receiving patches, but the official material does not establish a minimum bandwidth figure.

When Valor Mortis became available
The release and Game Pass availability date was October 13, 2026. The publisher’s stated launch time was 10:00 AM Pacific Time, 1:00 PM Eastern Time, and 5:00 PM UTC. A June announcement had listed September 24, 2026, but that date was superseded by the later launch announcement. If a listing was unavailable before the October launch window, that earlier schedule explains why.
Release times are a useful reference for the original launch only. A later reinstall, catalog return or regional rollout can follow different store timing. For current access, rely on the time and availability displayed in your Xbox interface.
Install Valor Mortis on Xbox Series X|S
- Sign in. Turn on the Xbox Series X|S and sign in with the Microsoft account that has the applicable Game Pass entitlement.
- Open the catalog. From the console, open the Xbox Store or the Game Pass section. The exact placement of these areas can change with dashboard updates.
- Search for the title. Enter
Valor Mortisand select the matching game listing. Confirm that the listing is the game you intend to install rather than an add-on or unrelated result. - Read the entitlement shown. The page should indicate the available Game Pass option for an eligible account. If it shows only a purchase option, verify the signed-in account and subscription before paying.
- Choose the available action. Select the install control shown for your account. If the game is already installed, the page may offer a play control instead.
- Choose an installation location if prompted. Select the console storage location offered by your Xbox. The official announcement does not specify a required drive or storage amount, so use the space information shown on the live listing.
- Wait for the download to finish. You can monitor progress from the console’s queue or downloads area. Keep the console connected to power and the network until the installation completes.
- Launch the game. Open Valor Mortis from the installed-games list or its store page. Allow any first-run update or sign-in step to complete before starting play.
If the Xbox page does not show an install button
- Check that the console is an Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox generation named in the announcement.
- Confirm that the active profile is the one associated with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
- Open the listing again from the Game Pass area rather than relying on an old shortcut.
- Check the current catalog entry for your territory. Catalog rights and availability can change.
- If the title still shows only a price, do not assume that buying it is required; first resolve the account, subscription or catalog mismatch.
Install Valor Mortis on a Windows PC
- Sign in to the Xbox app or Microsoft Store. Use the Microsoft account that has PC Game Pass or another named entitlement that includes the game.
- Open the Xbox app or Microsoft Store. Either application can be used to find the PC listing. Keep both applications updated if Windows presents an update prompt.
- Search for
Valor Mortis. Select the game listing and check that the page identifies the PC version and the Game Pass access available to your account. - Follow the displayed install prompt. The button label and sequence can vary with app version and account status. Use the install control offered by the live listing rather than a third-party download.
- Select the drive or folder if Windows asks. Choose a location with the free space reported by the listing. The publisher has not published a universal installation-size figure in the launch information.
- Monitor the download. Leave the Xbox app or Store connected while the package downloads and installs. Pause other large downloads if your connection repeatedly stalls.
- Start the game from the Xbox app, Microsoft Store library or Windows shortcut. The first launch may check your account and download an update before the title opens.
PC access problems to check first
- Wrong account: The Store and Xbox app can display different signed-in identities. Verify both before assuming PC Game Pass does not include the game.
- Purchase price instead of install: Recheck the subscription status and the current regional listing. A price display is not proof that the catalog entitlement has ended everywhere.
- Download will not begin: Confirm that Windows has enough free space and that the connection remains active. The official release information does not define a minimum speed or hardware specification.
- Game launches but requests access: Close and reopen the Xbox app after confirming the subscription account, then open the listing again so the entitlement can refresh.
Play through Xbox Cloud Gaming
Xbox lists Cloud as an availability category for Valor Mortis. That does not establish universal support for every phone, tablet, browser, smart TV, handheld, region, input method or account. Cloud access can depend on Microsoft’s current service rules and the plan attached to your account.

- Open the Xbox cloud-play interface. Use the current Xbox cloud gaming entry point available in your region and sign in.
- Search for Valor Mortis. The cloud catalog is the authoritative check for whether the title can stream to your current device and account.
- Read the eligibility result. If the game appears with a play control, the interface is indicating that your signed-in account and device meet the conditions it is applying at that moment. If it is absent or marked unavailable, do not infer that every cloud user is blocked; eligibility can vary by region, device and account.
- Start the session. Select the play option and follow any on-screen controller or browser instructions. Cloud play does not require a local game installation, but it does require the session to maintain a suitable network connection.
- Use the current service guidance for interruptions. If the stream disconnects, retry from the cloud catalog after checking the network and account. The launch announcement does not provide a guaranteed resolution, latency, device or bandwidth specification.
What the Cloud listing does and does not prove
A Cloud label confirms that Xbox announced a cloud category for the game. It does not promise a particular resolution, frame rate, save behavior, controller requirement, browser, operating system or geographic reach. Those details are volatile and should be verified in the cloud interface you actually plan to use.
What “Handheld” availability means here
Xbox Wire includes Handheld among the announced categories, but the announcement does not identify every supported handheld model or explain whether a particular device uses a native installation, the Xbox app, remote play or cloud streaming. Treat the category as an indication of announced handheld availability, not a blanket compatibility list.
On a handheld, open the Xbox interface supported by that device, sign in with the entitled account and search for the current Valor Mortis listing. Follow the install or play action that the device presents. If the title is missing, check whether the handheld is using local PC installation or cloud play and then verify that mode’s current eligibility rather than assuming the category covers it.

Choosing between local installation and Cloud

The official announcement does not publish comparative performance, resolution, storage, input or latency results for these choices. Select local installation when you want the platform to keep the game files on the console or PC and your device meets the listing’s requirements. Select Cloud when the cloud interface explicitly offers the title to your account and you prefer streaming. For a handheld, establish which of those two paths the device actually supports before troubleshooting an installation that may not exist for that model.

For an account with an applicable subscription and a current catalog entitlement, Game Pass is the access route described by Xbox Wire. The publisher’s launch announcement listed a standalone US price of $39.99. That figure was historical at launch; it can differ by territory, taxes, store currency and later promotions. Compare the current local store price with the current cost and catalog scope of the Game Pass plan available to you.
Buying the game is not necessary merely because a store page displays a price. First determine whether the account is using Ultimate or PC Game Pass as applicable and whether the title remains in the catalog for your region. Conversely, a subscription is not a permanent ownership purchase: if catalog rights change or the subscription ends, access can change even though the game remains installed. The live listing is the right place to confirm the entitlement offered now.

Release-time and catalog troubleshooting
The game was not visible at the announced launch time
The publisher announced a 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM UTC launch. If you checked before that window, the listing might not yet have exposed the install or cloud action. After the window, refresh the Xbox Store, Game Pass area or PC app, then search again while signed in to the entitled account.

That date came from the June announcement and was later replaced. Use the October launch announcement and the current store listing rather than the earlier schedule.
The title appears on one device but not another
Availability categories are not a promise that every mode is enabled on every device. Compare the device with the category it is using: Xbox Series X|S for console installation, PC for the Xbox app or Microsoft Store, and Cloud for the cloud-play interface. Confirm the account and region on both devices before concluding that the catalog differs.

The subscription is active but access is still denied
- Sign out and back in on the affected Xbox app, Store or console profile.
- Confirm that the active account is the one holding the subscription.
- Search the current Valor Mortis listing rather than opening an old tile.
- Check whether your plan is one of the named tiers: Ultimate or PC Game Pass.
- Review the listing for a regional or platform-specific availability message.
If those checks do not resolve the issue, use the support path presented by the current Xbox interface. Detailed support menu labels and a universal workflow are not established by the launch announcement, so they can change with the app, console software and region.
