A 1 TB internal SSD is a practical capacity to consider if your current drive cannot spare 125 GB, because it leaves room for Windows, updates, and other software. That is a storage-planning option, not a claim that any particular SSD model was tested or that extra capacity improves graphics performance.
Install through Steam
Steam’s labels can change as its client is updated, but the process is the standard library workflow:
- Open the Steam client and sign in to the account that owns the game.
- Find The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered in the store or in your library.

Keep the storefront signed in when you launch. If you use PC Game Pass, the Microsoft account that owns the entitlement must remain the account recognized by the Xbox App. For either route, allow the client to finish updates or file verification before starting the game, since interrupting those operations can leave an incomplete installation.
Mods are not required for the remaster. If you later add them, keep track of what you installed and test the unmodified game after a game update. That makes it easier to determine whether a startup failure belongs to the base files or an altered installation.
What is included in the remastered edition?
The Steam listing describes the release as a single-player role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and Virtuos. - If you installed mods, remove or disable them and test the unmodified game. A mod can prevent startup after an update even when the base installation is sound.

Do not treat administrator mode as a routine requirement. Match the symptom to the likely check
- No response after selecting Play: restart the storefront and the PC, then recheck the minimum requirements.
- The game worked before an update but now fails: temporarily remove mods and repair or verify the game files.
- The installer stops or reports insufficient space: confirm that the selected drive is an SSD and has at least 125 GB free, then retry after clearing legitimate space.
- The Xbox App does not offer installation: verify the signed-in Microsoft account, current subscription or ownership, region, and PC entitlement.
- The game starts but runs poorly: open the current in-game graphics settings, begin with a moderate profile, and reduce demanding options one at a time.

Is 125 GB the size of the download?
The official listing states that 125 GB of available storage is required. It does not present that figure as a guaranteed download size, so keep at least that much free on the installation SSD and allow extra working space.

Should I run the game as administrator?
