There is no documented native Windows release of Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition. On a PC, the documented method is to emulate the PlayStation 2 version with PCSX2. You need a BIOS dump made from your own PS2 and either an original PS2 disc or an image dumped from that disc. PCSX2 does not supply the BIOS or the game.
This guide covers the complete, legitimate setup: checking your computer, preparing the BIOS and game media, installing PCSX2, launching the game, configuring controls, and diagnosing the problems most likely to occur.
What “playing it on PC” means
PCSX2 is a PlayStation 2 emulator. Its purpose, according to the project FAQ, is to emulate the PS2 so that PS2 games can be played on a computer. You are not installing a Windows executable for Midnight Club 3; you are running the PS2 release inside an emulator.

The game source and the emulator are separate. PCSX2 supplies the emulation software, while you supply the BIOS and game media from hardware and software that you own. The project describes the BIOS as proprietary and requires users to dump it from their own console. Do not download a BIOS or a game image from an unofficial source.

Check your PC before installing
PCSX2 publishes emulator-wide requirements rather than a separate specification for every game. The figures below are the requirements listed in the current FAQ available for this guide. PCSX2 warns that demanding PS2 games can perform poorly on a computer that only meets the minimum CPU specification.

If your computer is below the minimum, installation may still begin, but that does not establish that the game will be playable. If your hardware meets the recommended profile, begin with PCSX2’s defaults rather than immediately changing advanced settings.
Choose the correct edition
The title in this guide is the original Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition for PlayStation 2. It should not be confused with Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix, a separate edition released for PlayStation 2 and Xbox.

The publisher announcement dated February 3, 2006 does not establish current prices, stock, or a current PC release. If you own Remix, identify the PS2 edition before preparing your media; do not assume that any disc labeled “Midnight Club 3” is interchangeable.

Prepare the required BIOS dump
Why the BIOS is required
PCSX2 needs a PlayStation 2 BIOS to reproduce the console’s startup and system environment. The BIOS is proprietary. PCSX2’s official guidance is that it must be dumped from the user’s own PS2, not downloaded from the internet.
Dump it from your own console
Use PCSX2’s official BIOS-dumping guide for the supported dumper methods. The exact procedure depends on the PS2 hardware and the tools available to you, so follow the current instructions for your console rather than copying a procedure intended for another model. Keep the resulting BIOS files in a location you control and do not distribute them.
Have the BIOS dump ready before completing PCSX2’s first-run configuration. If the wizard reports that no BIOS is available, the emulator cannot complete setup until you select a valid dump.

Prepare an original game source
PCSX2 documents two ways to use an original PS2 game: start the disc directly or create an image from the disc and start that image. Both routes require legitimate PS2 media.

Option A: play the disc directly
A computer with a compatible optical drive can read the PS2 disc while you play. This is the simplest route if you already have the disc and a drive that can read its DVD or CD media. The drive must be connected to the computer running PCSX2, and the disc must be inserted before you choose the disc-start command.
Option B: dump the disc to an image
PCSX2’s disc guide explains how to dump PS2 discs on Windows, macOS, and Linux with an optical drive that supports DVD/CD media. The resulting image gives you an image-based workflow and avoids repeatedly using the physical disc. The guide recommends dumps for practical reasons, but direct disc play remains supported.

An optical drive is therefore conditional, not universally mandatory. You need one to read a physical disc directly or to make a dump, but not to launch an image that you have already created.

- Download PCSX2 from the project’s official distribution and install the current build for your operating system. Requirements and setup screens can change, so use the current documentation that accompanies that build.
- Start PCSX2 after the installation finishes.
- When the first-run setup wizard asks for a BIOS, point it to the BIOS dump made from your own PS2.
- Allow PCSX2 to scan or register the BIOS location as requested by the wizard, then complete the initial configuration.
The emulator installation does not install Midnight Club 3. The game remains on your original disc or in an image made from it.

Complete first-run configuration
Use the setup wizard to select the BIOS and establish the basic emulator configuration. Start with the default graphics and timing settings. Changing several advanced options at once makes it difficult to identify the cause of a problem and is unnecessary when you are first testing the game.
After the wizard finishes, close and reopen PCSX2 if it asks you to do so. Keep the BIOS and game image in locations with ordinary read permission; placing them in a protected or disconnected drive can prevent PCSX2 from opening them.
Launch the game
Starting an image
- Open PCSX2.
- Choose
System > Start File. - Browse to the image you created from your original PS2 disc and select it.
- Wait for the emulated PS2 startup sequence and the game’s title screen.
Starting a physical disc
- Insert the original PS2 disc into the compatible optical drive.
- Open PCSX2.
- Choose
System > Start Disc. - Select the optical drive if PCSX2 asks you to choose one, then wait for the game to boot.
If the game does not start, first confirm that you chose the correct launch command. Start File is for an image; Start Disc is for media in an optical drive.

On Windows, PCSX2 ships with XInput bindings. An Xbox One controller or another working XInput controller should be recognized by the default setup. A controller is optional; it is not a prerequisite if another input device works with your configuration.

- Connect the controller before launching the game.
- Open PCSX2’s controller configuration and verify that the expected device is selected.
- Use the default bindings first and test steering, acceleration, braking, and the menu buttons in the game.
- If you use a different controller type, configure its buttons in PCSX2’s input settings and test each control before starting a race.
If no input is detected, check that the operating system sees the controller, reconnect it, restart PCSX2, and then revisit the emulator’s controller configuration. Avoid changing graphics settings while diagnosing an input problem.

Do not treat a published minimum requirement as a promised frame rate. PCSX2’s requirements apply to the emulator generally, while the game, resolution, drivers, and computer hardware affect the result.
The PCSX2 compatibility wiki contains a 2012 Windows test for the original game described as “Runs near full speed” on the listed test system. That is a dated community report, not a controlled modern benchmark and not a guarantee for your PC. The Remix entry is marked Playable and includes older reports that mention lag or visual artifacts in particular configurations. These records are useful when diagnosing a specific issue, but they should not be read as current performance commitments.
Start with current PCSX2 defaults. If the game is slow or displays artifacts, consult the current compatibility entry for the exact edition and compare your symptom with the settings and hardware described there. Change one setting at a time and record what you changed so you can return to the last working configuration.
Troubleshooting by symptom
“No BIOS found” or the setup wizard cannot continue
- Confirm that you actually created a BIOS dump from your own PS2.
- In the wizard, select the folder containing the dump rather than the disc-image folder.
- Check that the files are readable by your user account and were not moved after PCSX2 scanned them.
- Do not substitute a BIOS downloaded from an unofficial website.
The game image will not boot
- Make sure you used
System > Start Fileand selected the image, not an unrelated file in the dump folder. - Verify that the dump completed successfully and that the file remains on a connected, readable drive.
- If you can still read the original disc, create a fresh image using the current PCSX2 disc-dumping instructions.
- Confirm that the media is the PS2 edition of the game, not an Xbox copy or a different release.
The physical disc is not detected
- Check that the optical drive supports the DVD/CD media used by the PS2 disc.
- Confirm that the disc is inserted before choosing
System > Start Disc. - Make sure the drive appears in the operating system and is not being used exclusively by another application.
- If the drive remains unreliable, dump the original disc to an image with a compatible drive and use
Start File.
The game runs slowly
- Compare the computer with PCSX2’s published CPU, graphics, and memory requirements.
- Close unnecessary programs and test again with PCSX2’s default settings.
- Check that your graphics driver supports the API selected by PCSX2.
- Consult the current compatibility entry for the game and change only one emulator option at a time.
- Do not assume that an old “near full speed” report predicts the result on modern or lower-powered hardware.
Visual artifacts, freezes, or intermittent glitches appear
- Record whether the issue occurs in menus, during races, or only in a particular area.
- Return to PCSX2 defaults if you have changed several settings.
- Check the current compatibility notes for the original game or Remix, making sure you are reading the correct edition.
- Test the image again if the problem occurs only when reading a physical disc.
The controller works in Windows but not in the game
- Reconnect the controller before starting PCSX2.
- Confirm that PCSX2 is using the expected XInput device or the controller profile you configured.
- Test every button in the emulator’s input screen, then relaunch the game.
- If you are using a non-XInput controller, configure it explicitly rather than relying on the default Windows bindings.
Original DUB Edition or Remix?
Use the original edition if that is the title you intend to play and the disc you own. Choose the PS2 version of Remix only if you specifically want its additional content. The 2006 announcement identifies 24 new vehicles, Tokyo, new music, races, and battle maps as Remix additions. Those additions do not turn Remix into a native PC release; both PS2 editions still require the PS2 emulation route on a computer.
If you are comparing the editions, the practical questions are which PS2 disc you own, whether your BIOS and image correspond to that edition, and whether the content differences matter to you. Current prices and availability are not established here, so verify those independently before buying media.
What you need, in one checklist
- A 64-bit computer that meets PCSX2’s current requirements; the FAQ lists Windows 10 version 1809 or later, two physical CPU cores with SMT, SSE4.1, a supported graphics API, and 8 GB RAM as minimum guidance.
- A stronger CPU with AVX2 and four or more physical cores is the recommended profile listed by PCSX2.
- PCSX2 installed from its official distribution.
- A BIOS dump made from your own PlayStation 2.
- An original PS2 copy of Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, used directly in a compatible optical drive or dumped to an image.
- An input device configured in PCSX2; XInput controllers use the Windows bindings supplied by default.
Bottom line
To play Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition on a PC, install PCSX2 and emulate the PS2 version. Supply your own PS2 BIOS dump and your own game disc or disc image, then launch the image with System > Start File or the disc with System > Start Disc. Begin with the emulator’s defaults, use an XInput controller if available, and treat historical compatibility reports as guidance rather than a performance guarantee.
