Install the current NVIDIA Studio Driver first, then install Photoshop 27.x and Premiere Pro 26.x through Creative Cloud. For Premiere, use Windows 11 24H2, GPU acceleration, hardware decoding and encoding, an internal SSD for the application and cache, and a separate high-speed drive for media. Photoshop needs less memory and GPU memory, but it still requires DirectX 12 feature level 12_0 and a current driver.
Adobe and NVIDIA say they are optimizing both applications for the RTX Spark platform and report up to 2x faster AI, editing, color and effects workflows. That is a vendor-reported ceiling, not an independent benchmark. Your result will depend on codec, resolution, effects, AI features, storage speed, thermals and the software versions installed.
Check compatibility before installing
Verify the operating system, memory, GPU memory, graphics API and storage before downloading either application. Premiere Pro 26.x has the stricter Windows requirement: Adobe lists Windows 11 version 24H2 for the Windows release. Photoshop 27.x and later requires a supported Windows release, a recent GPU driver and DirectX 12 feature level 12_0.

The memory figures are Adobe’s published requirements, not a guarantee of a particular timeline or canvas size. A complex 4K multicamera sequence can need more than the stated 32 GB, while a small HD project may run acceptably with 16 GB.

Confirm Windows 11 24H2
- Press
Windows + R, enterwinver, and press Enter. - Confirm that the version shown is Windows 11 24H2 before installing Premiere 26.x.
- Run Windows Update until no restart is pending. Restart before installing the graphics driver so an unfinished Windows update does not replace or lock the driver package.
Check the RTX Spark GPU and DirectX
- Open
Settings > System > Display > Advanced displayand note the active display adapter. - Press
Windows + R, enterdxdiag, and choose Save All Information. In the report, confirm DirectX 12 and the feature-level information required by Photoshop. - In
Task Manager > Performance > GPU, note dedicated GPU memory. Compare it with Premiere’s 4 GB minimum and 8 GB recommendation.
Plan the drives
Keep Windows, Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Premiere and their caches on a fast internal SSD. Put source footage, audio, previews and project media on a separate high-speed drive. This arrangement prevents sustained media reads from competing with application and cache activity on one device. Leave free space on both drives; a nearly full cache or scratch disk can cause failures even when the application launches normally.
Install the NVIDIA Studio Driver
Use the latest NVIDIA Studio Driver supplied through NVIDIA’s driver-download flow rather than relying solely on Windows Update. Adobe notes that Windows Update may not provide the newest driver. NVIDIA says Studio Drivers undergo extensive testing with multi-application creator workflows and multiple revisions of major creative applications, making them the stability-focused choice for an editing and design workstation.
- Close Adobe applications and save any open work.
- Open NVIDIA’s official driver-download page, select the RTX Spark graphics device, your Windows edition and Studio Driver, then download the current package.
- Run the installer and complete the installation. Keep the display connected to the RTX Spark device during setup.
- Restart Windows after the installer finishes, even if it does not insist on a restart.
- Open Premiere and choose
Help > System Compatibility Report. Resolve any NVIDIA driver warning shown there, then restart Premiere.
Use Studio Drivers for a machine whose priority is Photoshop, Premiere and other creator applications. A newer driver is not automatically better if it is a different branch that has not yet been validated for your application versions; update when Adobe or NVIDIA identifies a compatibility fix, and retest a representative project after each update.

Install Creative Cloud, Photoshop and Premiere Pro
- Download and install the Creative Cloud desktop application from Adobe.
- Sign in with the Adobe ID that owns the Photoshop and Premiere licenses. Premiere activation requires an internet connection and an Adobe ID.
- In Creative Cloud, open the Apps section, find Photoshop and Premiere Pro, and select Install. Keep the default application locations on the fast internal SSD unless you have a documented storage policy.
- Allow each application to complete its first launch. Do not open a large project while Creative Cloud is still applying an update.
- Launch each application once, close it, and restart Windows if Adobe or the NVIDIA driver requested a restart during installation.
If Creative Cloud shows an application as installed but the executable will not launch, sign out and back in, verify the system clock and internet connection, and check that Windows security software has not blocked Adobe’s licensing services. Do not copy an installed application from another PC; the driver, runtime components and licensing state must be configured on this system.
Configure Premiere Pro for the RTX Spark GPU
Select GPU-accelerated rendering
- Open a project, then choose
File > Project Settings > General. - Under Video Rendering and Playback, select the GPU-accelerated renderer. On Windows systems this is normally labeled Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA).
- Click OK. If Premiere asks to restart, do so before judging playback performance.
If the only available choice is software rendering, Premiere is not using the RTX Spark GPU. Check the Studio Driver, reboot, and run Help > System Compatibility Report again before changing project settings.
Enable hardware decoding and encoding
- Open
Edit > Preferences > Media. - Enable the hardware-accelerated decoding and encoding options that Premiere exposes for the installed GPU and codecs.
- Restart Premiere if prompted.
- Import a short clip in the codec you use most, scrub through it, and export a short segment with the same frame size and frame rate as your normal delivery.
GPU acceleration can be involved in decoding, rendering, export and AI features, but support is codec- and effect-dependent. A codec that cannot use the available hardware path will remain CPU-bound even when the project renderer is set correctly.

Put media and cache on the intended drives
- Choose
Edit > Preferences > Media Cacheand set the cache location to the fast internal SSD. - For each project, open
File > Project Settings > Scratch Disks. Place previews and captured files on the fastest suitable SSD, and keep the high-speed media drive available for source footage and audio. - In the Media Cache preferences, remove unused cache files periodically. Do this only when projects are closed or when you have confirmed that the files are safe to regenerate.
Do not place the cache on a slow external disk simply because it has more capacity. A large capacity drive that cannot sustain concurrent reads and writes can create pauses, dropped frames and long conform times.

Match memory to the project
Use Edit > Preferences > Memory to leave enough RAM for Windows and other applications while giving the majority of available memory to Adobe applications. For HD work, 16 GB is Adobe’s recommendation; for 4K and higher, target at least 32 GB. Multicam timelines, large After Effects-linked compositions and heavy AI effects can justify more memory than those baseline figures.
Configure Photoshop for the RTX Spark GPU
Confirm that Photoshop recognizes the GPU
- Open
Edit > Preferences > Performance. - Check that Use Graphics Processor is enabled and that Photoshop identifies the RTX Spark adapter.
- Open the available advanced graphics settings and leave the recommended drawing mode enabled unless a specific document exhibits an artifact or crash.
- Close and reopen Photoshop after changing the graphics processor setting.
Photoshop requires DirectX 12 feature level 12_0, at least 1.5 GB of GPU memory and a GPU newer than seven years with a current manufacturer driver. If the graphics processor box is unavailable, verify DirectX and the Studio Driver before reinstalling Photoshop.

Set an SSD scratch disk
- In
Edit > Preferences > Scratch Disks, select the fast internal SSD. - Keep substantial free space on that disk. Photoshop uses scratch space for documents and operations that exceed physical memory.
- If more than one SSD is available, choose the fastest reliable volume first and avoid a disk that is also saturated by active video media.
The scratch-disk choice is independent of GPU acceleration. A recognized GPU cannot prevent an out-of-space scratch disk from stopping an operation.

These are planning targets, not performance promises. Resolution, bit depth, frame rate, compressed versus intraframe codecs, noise reduction, color effects and AI operations can change the bottleneck from GPU to CPU, memory or storage.

Validate acceleration with a representative project
Do not judge the RTX Spark setup from an empty timeline or a small Photoshop document. Use a short, repeatable test that resembles your work.
- In Premiere, duplicate a few minutes of a typical sequence, including the codecs, transitions, color corrections and effects you normally use.
- Play the sequence at full resolution and note dropped frames, render bars and responsiveness while scrubbing.
- Export a short section using your normal delivery codec. Confirm in the export progress and system monitors that the expected GPU activity occurs; do not assume that a brief spike means the whole export is GPU-accelerated.
- In Photoshop, open a large representative document, apply the GPU-dependent operation you use most, and watch for redraw errors, lag or driver resets.
- Record the application versions, Windows build, Studio Driver version and project settings. Repeat the same test after major updates so a change is attributable to software rather than memory.
Adobe and NVIDIA’s up-to-2x statement covers AI, editing, color and effects workflows on the RTX Spark platform. It does not specify one universal project, codec, resolution or test method, so use your own repeatable project to establish a meaningful baseline.
Troubleshoot common problems
Premiere reports a driver problem
- Open
Help > System Compatibility Reportand read the exact warning. - Install the latest NVIDIA Studio Driver directly from NVIDIA, restart Windows and run the report again.
- Update Premiere if Adobe’s release notes require a newer video driver for that version.
GPU acceleration is missing
- Confirm the RTX Spark adapter appears in Device Manager without a warning icon.
- Check that the Studio Driver, rather than a basic Windows display driver, is active.
- Verify the project renderer under
File > Project Settings > General. A project can retain software rendering even after a driver update. - If the GPU still does not appear, verify Windows 11 24H2, DirectX information and available GPU memory before reinstalling Adobe applications.
Playback stutters or exports are unexpectedly slow
- Confirm that source media is on the separate high-speed drive and the cache is on the internal SSD.
- Test one clip without effects, then add effects back in groups. This identifies whether the codec, an effect or storage is limiting the workflow.
- Check available RAM and close applications consuming memory. 4K projects commonly exceed the comfort zone of an 8 GB or 16 GB system.
- Check thermals and airflow during a long export. Performance can vary as the system protects itself from heat.
Photoshop does not recognize the GPU
- Recheck the Studio Driver and DirectX 12 feature level 12_0.
- Open
Edit > Preferences > Performanceand verify Use Graphics Processor. - Restart Photoshop after changing the setting. If the option remains unavailable, confirm that the GPU is newer than seven years and that Windows is using the RTX Spark adapter rather than a fallback display device.
Installation or activation fails
- Confirm an active internet connection and sign in with the Adobe ID that holds the license.
- Finish any pending Windows restart, then reopen Creative Cloud and retry.
- Keep enough SSD space for the application, temporary files and updates; an application can download successfully but fail while unpacking if the drive is nearly full.
Keep the system reliable
Install Windows updates, Creative Cloud application updates and NVIDIA Studio Driver updates deliberately rather than allowing a long backlog to accumulate. Adobe notes that a Premiere upgrade can require an updated video driver. After a major update, open a copy of a real project, verify the renderer, test hardware decoding and encoding, and check Photoshop’s Performance panel before beginning an important delivery.

If an update introduces a compatibility issue, reverting to the previously validated driver and application version is safer than changing several components at once. Keep project media and caches backed up according to your normal workflow, but remember that Premiere and Photoshop can regenerate cache and scratch data; the irreplaceable files are the source media, project files and exported deliverables.
