On an RTX Spark laptop, install the newest NVIDIA app update released for October 2026, then enable the beta Frame Generation Performance Mode if you want the October model. DLSS 5 is not a universal driver switch: each game must ship the relevant integration. NBA 2K27 is the first listed game at launch on October 16, 2026; Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled for November 5, Where Winds Meet for late November, and an RTX Remix update is scheduled for October 23.
What the October DLSS 5 update does on RTX Spark
NVIDIA announced DLSS 5 with 3D-Guided Neural Rendering for RTX Spark laptops on October 13, 2026, with availability beginning October 16. The October release includes Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and 3D-Guided Neural Rendering where a supported game or runtime exposes them. The NVIDIA app is the distribution and configuration point; installing a display driver alone does not add DLSS 5 to every game.
The October model is intended to reduce the cost of the September model at a similar visual-fidelity target. NVIDIA reports a model of roughly 118 million parameters, a 24% smaller model footprint, 20% lower 4K VRAM use, and half the GPU overhead of the September version. NVIDIA also reports up to a 1.4× frame-rate uplift for the new model in NBA 2K27. Those are NVIDIA’s stated figures, not a guarantee for every RTX Spark configuration, resolution or game.

Check compatibility before changing settings
- Hardware: the launch announcement covers RTX Spark laptops. Confirm that Windows is running on the RTX Spark system on which you will install the app update.
- NVIDIA app: use the current app release, installed either by updating inside the app or by downloading the newest update from NVIDIA’s website.
- Game integration: DLSS 5 appears only in titles that ship the required integration. An app override cannot add 3D-Guided Neural Rendering to an unsupported game.
- Beta access: the October Frame Generation Performance Mode is delivered through the app’s beta or experimental-feature opt-in.
- Restart capability: keep a reboot available. NVIDIA specifically says to reboot when Preset C does not appear after selecting the custom model-presets path.
Do not assume that a game showing an older DLSS option has the October model. The game, the NVIDIA app and, for modded titles, the RTX Remix runtime each expose different portions of the feature set.

Install the NVIDIA app update
- Sign in to Windows on the RTX Spark laptop and connect it to the internet. Close games and other applications that may be using the GPU.
- Open the NVIDIA app.
- Install the newest app update offered in the app. If the in-app updater is not offered, download the newest NVIDIA app update from NVIDIA’s website and run that installer.
- Allow the updater to finish, then reopen the app if it closes. A restart is sensible before configuring a model override, especially if the app or driver was updated while a game was running.
This update is the channel for the October controls. There is no separate “DLSS 5 driver-only” toggle that forces the technology into every installed title.
Opt in to the October beta Frame Generation Performance Mode
The October Frame Generation Performance Mode is distributed as a beta package. You must explicitly opt in before the package can download.
- In the NVIDIA app, open Settings > About.
- Tick Opt in to access Beta or experimental features.
- Wait for the beta package to download. Keep the app open until the download completes.
- When the on-screen installation prompt appears, select it and let the package install.
If the prompt does not appear, verify that the app update itself completed, the opt-in box remains checked, and the system is online. Close and reopen the NVIDIA app after the package has downloaded. Do not treat the absence of this beta package as proof that RTX Spark lacks DLSS 5; the regular game integrations and the beta Frame Generation Performance Mode are separate pieces.
Set the October Frame Generation model to Preset C
Preset C is selected through the NVIDIA app’s driver override controls, not through a hidden game file. Configure it after the app update and beta package are installed.
- Open the NVIDIA app’s Graphics page.
- Select a supported Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation game.
- Open Driver Settings.
- Choose DLSS Override – Model Presets.
- Set the model choice to Custom.
- Open the Frame Generation drop-down.
- Select Preset C, then click Apply.
The selected title can now use the override when its own integration supports that Frame Generation path. To apply the override to every supported game, use Global Settings in the Graphics section instead of configuring only one title. Global Settings still affects supported games only; it does not turn an incompatible title into a DLSS 5 title.
If Preset C is missing
- Confirm that the NVIDIA app is on the newest October release and that the beta or experimental-feature opt-in is enabled.
- Check that you opened Driver Settings > DLSS Override – Model Presets and changed the selector to Custom. Preset C is not shown in the default model view.
- Close the NVIDIA app and restart Windows. NVIDIA says to reboot if Preset C is not visible.
- Return to the same path after the reboot and check the Frame Generation drop-down again.
- If it is still absent, test with a title that the app identifies as supporting Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation. A title without one of those integrations may not expose the model list.
Turn on DLSS 5 inside a supported game
The NVIDIA app supplies the platform update and, where applicable, the model override. The game remains responsible for exposing its own DLSS controls. Launch the supported title, open its graphics or display settings, and choose the DLSS options that the developer provides. Depending on the title, those options can include Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation or 3D-Guided Neural Rendering.

For NBA 2K27, the faster October model is listed for RTX Spark, GeForce RTX 50 Series and GeForce NOW. After applying Preset C, open NBA 2K27’s graphics settings and enable the DLSS and frame-generation options that appear for the detected system. If the game does not show an option, update the game through its normal launcher and confirm that the app recognizes the RTX Spark GPU; do not expect the NVIDIA app to create a missing in-game integration.

For a per-game configuration, leave Global Settings unchanged and select the game on the Graphics page before applying the override. This avoids changing other supported titles that may have different latency, image-quality or frame-pacing preferences. Use Global Settings only when you deliberately want the same supported-game behavior across the system.

Dates in the table are the announced rollout schedule. A game may require its own patch before the DLSS 5 controls appear, even when the NVIDIA app is fully updated.
Enable DLSS 5 in RTX Remix
RTX Remix uses a separate runtime procedure. NVIDIA’s RTX Remix update is scheduled for October 23, 2026, so the controls may not be present before that release.
- Download the latest RTX Remix from the NVIDIA app Home screen or from the RTX Remix project on GitHub.
- Launch the Remix-enabled project or runtime.
- Press Alt + X to open the RTX Remix Runtime User Guide overlay.
- Open Developer Settings.
- Enable DLSS 5 in the runtime or toolkit menu.
Remix’s Developer Settings are independent of a normal game’s graphics menu. If DLSS 5 is not listed, first check that the October 23 Remix update is installed and that the project is running through the updated runtime. The NVIDIA app’s Preset C setting remains relevant to the Frame Generation model, but the Remix runtime still has to expose and enable DLSS 5 for that project.

These figures describe the model change, not a guaranteed end-to-end frame rate on every RTX Spark laptop. Resolution, game patch, CPU limit, thermal profile, power mode, frame-generation mode and the number of rendered base frames can all affect what you see. Compare the same game scene and settings when checking the effect, and distinguish the game’s displayed frame rate from its base rendered frame rate.

How to verify that the update is active
- In the NVIDIA app, confirm the beta or experimental-feature opt-in is still enabled if you are using the October Frame Generation Performance Mode.
- On the game’s Graphics page, verify that the title is listed under a supported Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation category before applying an override.
- Reopen Driver Settings > DLSS Override – Model Presets > Custom > Frame Generation and confirm that Preset C is selected.
- Launch the game and check its own DLSS controls. A successful app configuration does not guarantee that every DLSS 5 feature is visible; the developer decides which features the title exposes.
- For Remix, press Alt + X, open Developer Settings and verify that DLSS 5 is enabled in the runtime or toolkit menu.
Use a repeatable test scene rather than comparing unrelated gameplay moments. NVIDIA’s “up to” result for NBA 2K27 is a ceiling for the cited title and configuration, not a promise that every scene will scale by the same factor.
Troubleshoot common installation and enablement problems
The NVIDIA app has no October update
Open the app’s update control again and check for the newest release. If the in-app path does not offer it, use the newest NVIDIA app installer from NVIDIA’s website. Finish the installation and restart Windows before checking the Graphics page. An RTX Spark system that is offline, running an incomplete app update or still using an older app build cannot expose the October controls reliably.
The beta package will not download
Return to Settings > About and confirm Opt in to access Beta or experimental features is checked. Leave the app open while the package downloads, then use the installation prompt. If the prompt disappears, reopen the app and check the opt-in state again. The beta package is specifically for the October Frame Generation Performance Mode; its absence does not remove the title-specific Super Resolution or other integrations already shipped by a game.

Use the exact sequence Graphics > Driver Settings > DLSS Override – Model Presets > Custom > Frame Generation. Reboot if the list remains incomplete, as NVIDIA instructs. Then select a title that the app identifies as supporting one of the relevant Frame Generation modes. If no supported title is installed or recognized, the app may not offer the same controls as it does for a compatible game.
The game has no DLSS 5 option
Check the title’s rollout date and install its own update. NBA 2K27 is the first listed launch title; Hogwarts Legacy and Where Winds Meet are scheduled for later November releases. A current NVIDIA app cannot make a pre-integration game expose 3D-Guided Neural Rendering. The game may still offer an earlier DLSS mode or no DLSS option at all, depending on its developer integration.
RTX Remix has no DLSS 5 entry
Check the separate RTX Remix schedule: the update is announced for October 23, 2026. Install the latest Remix build from the NVIDIA app Home screen or GitHub, press Alt + X, and look under Developer Settings. The option belongs to the Remix runtime or toolkit menu, not the standard game graphics page.
