“New Skyrim DLC” on PS5 usually means the Skyrim Anniversary Upgrade and its Creation Club content, not a new 2026 expansion. The paid Anniversary Upgrade is separate from the free PS5 next-generation upgrade. If you already own Skyrim Special Edition, open the game, choose “Available Now: Skyrim Anniversary Upgrade!” on the main menu, and complete the purchase through the platform store. What “new Skyrim DLC” means on PS5
Bethesda’s official material identifies the Anniversary Upgrade as a bundle of Creation Club content introduced with Skyrim Anniversary Edition on November 11, 2021. The sources available for this guide do not identify a newly released PS5 Skyrim expansion in 2026. The current official Anniversary page describes the package as containing more than 500 unique pieces of Creation Club content, including quests, items, homes, survival features and other additions. Those three named add-ons are the official Skyrim expansions; the Anniversary Upgrade adds the separate Creation Club bundle.

Bethesda’s FAQ states that the next-generation upgrade is free for owners of Special Edition or Anniversary Edition on PS5. Choose the right purchase route
You already own Skyrim Special Edition
Buy the Anniversary Upgrade if you want the additional Creation Club package. You do not need to buy the full Anniversary Edition again just to obtain that content. Bethesda’s stated route is built into the game’s main menu and is described in the support article at How do I get the Anniversary Edition if I have the latest version of Skyrim SE?.
You do not own Skyrim on the account you will use
The Anniversary Edition listing is the straightforward option because it combines the base game, the three official add-ons and the Creation Club content. Confirm that you are viewing the PS5/PS4 listing for your country before paying; storefront prices and entitlements are regional and can change.

Bethesda documented a physical PS4 Anniversary Edition. The included Creation Club content is redeemed and downloaded over the internet, so the disc is not a completely offline installation. It is a PS4 disc, not a separately documented PS5 disc edition. Check local stock, your region and the exact PS5 entitlement shown for that copy before buying.
Before you install: a quick ownership checklist
Checking ownership first prevents the most common mistake: paying for content that the account already owns, or expecting the free PS5 upgrade to include Anniversary creations.
- Identify whether your license is Skyrim Special Edition, Anniversary Edition or a physical PS4 Anniversary package.
- Sign in to the PSN account that owns the digital game or will redeem the disc content. A different profile may be able to launch a console-shared game, but entitlement checks still depend on the purchasing account.
- Confirm the storefront country and currency before checkout. Bethesda’s old US$19.99 figure was a 2021 launch MSRP, not a promise about today’s price.
- Make sure the console can connect to the internet. The digital upgrade must validate the purchase, and the physical package requires online redemption and downloads for its Creation Club content.
- Allow the base game, patches and add-ons to finish downloading before testing a quest or item. A partially installed entitlement can look like missing DLC.
Do not delete the Special Edition installation simply because the store describes the product as Anniversary Edition. The upgrade is associated with the existing game installation; the important distinction is which content your account has purchased and which add-ons are installed.
Install the Anniversary content on PS5
1. Confirm your edition and account
Start with the PlayStation account that owns the digital license, or the account that will redeem the disc content. Determine whether the installed game is Skyrim Special Edition or an Anniversary Edition purchase. If you own Special Edition, the Anniversary Upgrade is an optional paid add-on; do not confuse it with the free PS5 game upgrade.

2. Open the in-game upgrade purchase page
- Launch Skyrim on the PS5.
- From the game’s main menu, select “Available Now: Skyrim Anniversary Upgrade!”
- Bethesda says this opens the store for the relevant platform, where you can purchase the upgrade.
The quoted menu wording is Bethesda’s instruction. The support article does not provide a current PS5 screenshot or a complete button-by-button download sequence, so the labels you see after the store opens may vary with your account, region and system software.
3. Complete the purchase or redemption
Review the product name, platform and account shown by the PlayStation Store before confirming. For a digital purchase, finish the transaction on the account that owns the game. For a physical Anniversary Edition, insert the PS4 disc and follow the console’s redemption prompts; an internet connection is required to redeem and download the included Creation Club content.
4. Let the game and add-on data finish installing
Allow any game update and add-on download to complete before judging whether content is missing. Keep the PS5 connected to the internet for the initial entitlement check and Creation Club downloads. The official sources establish the purchase route and the need to download included Creation Club content, but they do not establish one universal PS5 screen sequence for every creation.
5. Launch Skyrim and access the added content
After installation, start the same Skyrim game tied to the purchasing account. Anniversary content is managed as platform add-on content rather than as a separate PS5 game. New quests, items, homes and other creations become available according to each creation’s design; some are accessed through normal gameplay, while others appear through the game’s relevant menus or world locations. If an entitlement does not appear, use the checks in the troubleshooting section instead of buying the package again.

The physical option is not automatically equivalent to a digital PS5 license. Bethesda confirms the PS4 disc edition and its online content requirement, but does not establish one universal disc-to-PS5 upgrade rule for every region or retail package. Read the packaging and your local store listing before assuming a particular entitlement.
Manage, enable or remove Anniversary content
Bethesda’s support guidance says Anniversary Edition content on PlayStation is managed through the platform’s add-on menu. The cited article does not name the current PS5 interface labels, so use the add-on-management area associated with your installed Skyrim game and account.
Enable or disable individual creations
Use the platform add-on controls to review purchased Creation Club items and select the content you want available. This is useful when you want to reduce clutter, isolate a compatibility problem or play without a particular creation. The exact list and controls can differ depending on which edition and add-ons your account owns.

Why the complete upgrade cannot simply be uninstalled
Bethesda states that the Anniversary Edition Upgrade itself cannot be uninstalled on PlayStation. Removing specific content may require uninstalling Skyrim, reinstalling it and selecting which content to use during the reinstall process. Treat that as a last-resort content reset: back up saves according to your normal PS5 practice first, and make sure you can redownload the game and add-ons from the purchasing account.

The PlayStation Store’s US listing is the authoritative place to check the products and options currently offered in that storefront: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition – PS5 & PS4. A different country may show different currency, pricing, taxes, language information or availability.
What happens after the download?
Installing an add-on does not mean every creation appears as a separate icon on the PS5 home screen. The Anniversary material belongs to the Skyrim installation and is managed with the game’s add-ons. Launch Skyrim from the edition tied to your purchase, then use the game’s normal menus, world locations and quest flow to encounter content that has been enabled.
If you have disabled a creation, it should not be treated as a failed purchase. Recheck the platform add-on list and enable the item before restarting Skyrim. Conversely, if you are testing a missing entitlement, avoid changing several add-ons at once: confirm one purchase and one installation state before drawing a conclusion.
Creation Club content is a broad category rather than one single campaign. The official page’s “over 500” description covers different types of additions, so access points and timing can differ from one creation to another. The three named expansions remain Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn, while the rest of the Anniversary package is the Creation Club bundle.

Bethesda’s November 2021 FAQ recorded a US$19.99 launch MSRP for the Anniversary Upgrade. That is a historical launch price, not a current PS5 Store quote. The live price may change because of region, sales, taxes or storefront updates; check the product page immediately before purchase.
Compare the complete Anniversary Edition with the upgrade rather than comparing only their names. If you already own Special Edition, paying for the upgrade avoids buying the base game again. If you do not own Skyrim, Anniversary Edition supplies the game and the listed add-ons in one package. A physical PS4 copy may appeal to collectors, but its included Creation Club content still needs an internet download.

The physical PS4 Anniversary Edition is a separate buying route from a digital PS5 entitlement. Troubleshoot missing or inaccessible content
The free PS5 upgrade is present, but Anniversary creations are missing
- Check whether you purchased only the free next-generation upgrade. That upgrade does not itself grant the paid Anniversary Creation Club bundle.
- Confirm that the account currently signed in on PS5 is the account that bought the Anniversary Upgrade or redeemed the disc content.
- Open Skyrim’s platform add-on management area and review the installed or available add-ons.
- Restart the game after downloads and updates finish, then check the content again.
The game offers the upgrade, but the store does not show the expected product
- Confirm that the installed copy is the latest Skyrim Special Edition version and that the console is online.
- Check the storefront region and the account’s purchase history; product names and availability are regional.
- Use the official PlayStation Store listing for your country rather than relying on a search result for another region.
A physical copy does not appear to unlock everything
- Insert the disc and remain connected to the internet while redemption and Creation Club downloads complete.
- Check that the disc region, account region and store listing are compatible.
- Review the package’s stated PS5 eligibility before assuming that it includes a digital PS5 license.
Specific creations still do not appear
The official support material does not establish a single fix for every missing-entitlement, account-mismatch or server-connection problem. After confirming the correct edition, account and add-on status, contact Bethesda Support or PlayStation Support with the purchase receipt, platform, region and affected content. Avoid purchasing a second copy until support confirms that the first entitlement is unavailable.

Can I uninstall one creation?
Bethesda says Anniversary content is managed through the platform add-on menu. The complete Anniversary Upgrade itself cannot simply be uninstalled on PlayStation; removing specific content may require uninstalling and reinstalling Skyrim, then choosing the content to use.
