You can usually extend the Vivo X300 Pro’s daily runtime without turning off notifications, calls, location, Bluetooth or mobile data. Start by finding the largest drain in Settings > Battery, then make selective display and app changes, manage radios only when they are idle, and keep charging temperatures under control. This approach protects the functions you actually use instead of applying an indiscriminate “battery saver” setting.

What the Vivo X300 Pro battery figures mean

The current Vivo X300 Pro specification lists a 6510 mAh typical battery at 3.77 V and a 6375 mAh rated capacity. It also lists 24.55 Wh typical energy and 24.04 Wh rated energy. Typical and rated values are different ways of declaring capacity; neither is a promise of a particular screen-on time because runtime depends on brightness, refresh rate, signal quality, applications, temperature and workload.

The phone supports up to 90 W wired charging and up to 40 W wireless charging. Those are maximum support figures under the manufacturer’s conditions, not a guarantee that every charger, cable, outlet or region will deliver the same rate. No independent battery-runtime test is established here, so avoid treating any claimed number of hours as a measured result.

1. Find the real drain before changing settings

Battery advice is most effective when it targets the largest reversible load. The Vivo user manual says the usage figures are approximate and may vary with use, but they are still the best first diagnostic.

  1. Open Settings > Battery.
  2. Open Usage since last full charge and review the app and system entries.
  3. Look for an app that is consuming a disproportionate share compared with how often you used it.
  4. Check whether the drain began after installing an app, changing a setting, traveling into weak-signal coverage or installing a system update.
  5. Record the top two or three contributors before changing anything. Recheck the same screen after a normal day so you can tell whether a change helped.

Vivo’s troubleshooting guidance also points owners to the battery or power-consumption rankings. A high percentage is not automatically a fault: navigation, video recording, gaming, hotspot use and a long bright-screen session can legitimately rank first. The useful question is whether the consumption matches what you were doing.

2. Lower display consumption selectively

The screen is often a large, controllable load. Reduce its cost while keeping the brightness and smoothness you need for reading, navigation and accessibility.

Set comfortable brightness, not maximum brightness

Open Settings > Display & brightness and move the brightness slider to the lowest level that remains comfortable in your surroundings. Keeping automatic brightness enabled can prevent the display from staying unnecessarily bright after you move indoors. Do not force a dim setting that makes you increase the screen time or strain to read; the goal is a sensible level, not minimum brightness at all times.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Shorten Screen timeout

In Settings > Display & brightness > Screen timeout, choose a shorter interval that still allows you to read without repeatedly touching the screen. A phone that remains lit on a desk, in a car mount or beside the bed can consume power even when no app is doing useful work.

Use a lower refresh rate when 120 Hz is unnecessary

Open Settings > Display & brightness and select the refresh-rate option offered by your software. A lower setting can reduce display work during messaging, reading and static screens. Keep the higher rate for scrolling, games or other situations where its smoothness matters. If the phone offers an automatic or adaptive choice, it can be a compromise between responsiveness and consumption.

Turn on Dark theme if you prefer it

The Vivo manual states: “On some screens, Dark theme will use a solid black background which will help extend your battery life.” Enable it from the display settings or the system theme control if you find it comfortable. The wording matters: the benefit applies to some screens, not necessarily every app, and it is not a substitute for fixing a runaway background app.

3. Restrict background activity for individual apps

Do not disable background activity across the entire phone. Notifications, messaging, calendar sync, wearable connections and work accounts may depend on it. Instead, target an app that appears high in the battery ranking but does not need to run continuously.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use the battery ranking as your shortlist

  • Start with an app whose battery use is high relative to your actual foreground use.
  • Check whether you rely on its immediate notifications, location updates, upload queue or wearable connection.
  • If you do not need that background function, use the app’s battery controls to restrict activity, hibernate it or prevent unnecessary background operation, where those controls are available.
  • Update the app before concluding that the phone has a hardware problem. A stuck sync or crash loop can create abnormal drain.
  • Uninstall an app only when you no longer need its function and its usage remains disproportionate after updating.

After restricting an app, send yourself a test message or trigger the function you depend on. If notifications arrive late or a wearable stops synchronizing, restore the previous permission and choose a less restrictive option. A small saving is not worth losing a communication feature you consider essential.

4. Keep radios available, but turn off only idle connections

GPS, Bluetooth, hotspot and mobile data can consume additional power. Weak cellular coverage can be particularly costly because the phone works harder to maintain service or search for a better signal. The right setting depends on what you are doing, so use radio controls situationally rather than disabling connectivity by default.

Connection Keep it enabled when Turn it off or limit it when Essential-function trade-off
Location/GPS You are navigating, geotagging photos, using a location-based work app or sharing your location. No app you use needs location and you are stationary. Turning it off can stop navigation and location updates.
Bluetooth You use a watch, car system, earbuds or another accessory. No paired accessory is in use for an extended period. Disabling it disconnects accessories and may delay reconnection.
Hotspot Another device is actively using the Vivo X300 Pro’s connection. No client is connected or tethering is finished. Turning it off ends internet access for the tethered device.
Mobile data You need cellular internet away from Wi-Fi or must receive app updates and messages over the network. You have reliable Wi-Fi and can accept cellular data being unavailable. Disabling it can prevent mobile messaging, synchronization and work access.

If you spend time in a basement, rural area or building with poor reception, battery use may fall when you connect to dependable Wi-Fi or move to stronger coverage. Airplane mode is appropriate only when you genuinely need no calls, texts, mobile data or other radios.

5. Use Power saving as a temporary mode

For a predictable low-battery situation, open Settings > Battery > Power saving. Vivo’s troubleshooting guidance recommends this mode to lower consumption. It is more suitable for commuting, travel or the final part of a workday than for permanently running the phone in a constrained state.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Super power saving is a stronger emergency option. The manual warns that Super Battery Saver limits device features and performance and is available only in some apps. Use it when preserving basic availability matters more than normal smartphone functionality. Before enabling it, finish uploads, navigation setup or other tasks that require unrestricted apps, and know how to leave the mode when you reach a charger.

6. Charge in a way that protects long-term capacity

Fast charging is useful, but heat and prolonged high charge are important battery-health variables. The manual gives the battery an optimal working temperature range of 0°C to 35°C and warns that higher temperatures accelerate ageing and reduce battery life.

Keep the phone cool while charging

  • Remove thick insulating cases temporarily if the phone becomes hot during a high-power charge.
  • Avoid long gaming, video recording or hotspot sessions while charging, especially in a warm room or direct sun.
  • Do not leave the phone charging long after it is full when you can unplug it.
  • Place it on a hard, ventilated surface rather than under bedding, clothing or a cushion.

The manual’s wording is direct: “Working at higher temperatures will accelerate battery ageing and reduce battery life.” Heat can also reduce immediate charging performance, so a cooler, moderate session may be better than chasing the shortest possible charging time.

Use a suitable charger and cable

Vivo warns that non-original chargers or cables can produce unstable voltage or current. For the phone’s up-to-90 W wired capability, use a compatible Vivo standard charger and the correct USB-C cable for your regional model. A charger that does not support the required protocol may charge more slowly; a questionable accessory can create safety and reliability risks. The 90 W and 40 W figures describe the phone’s support limits, not a requirement to charge at those rates every time.

7. Enable charging-health controls when your software offers them

Open Settings > Battery > Battery health and charging. The manual documents checking maximum capacity and cycle count, and Vivo’s global support information lists controls for optimized charging and a charging upper limit. These controls are not guaranteed on every regional model or software build.

Optimized charging

Enable optimized charging if the switch appears and you regularly leave the phone connected for long periods. The feature can delay the final part of a charge around your routine, reducing the time spent at a high state of charge. Because availability and behavior vary by region and software version, read the explanation shown on your phone and verify that the phone still reaches the charge level you need before leaving.

Charging upper limit

If an upper-limit option is offered, use it when overnight or desk charging is common and you can operate within the selected limit. A lower ceiling may support long-term health, but it also gives you less energy for the next outing. Turn it off temporarily before a long trip if you need maximum capacity.

Check maximum capacity and cycle count

These values help distinguish normal aging from a sudden software drain. A gradual decline in maximum capacity is different from an app that begins consuming power after an update. Do not infer a specific remaining runtime from the percentage alone; use it with the Usage since last full charge screen and your observed behavior.

8. Recheck after updates and new app installations

  1. Give the phone a normal use period rather than judging from one brief session.
  2. Open Settings > Battery > Usage since last full charge.
  3. Compare the top consumers with your actual use.
  4. Update apps from the official store and restart the phone if an app appears stuck.
  5. Review background permissions and radios before resorting to a full reset.

Menu names and available features can differ by model, carrier, country or region, as the manual notes. If a setting described here is missing, look for the closest Battery, Display & brightness or Battery health and charging section rather than assuming the phone cannot manage that behavior.

9. Choose changes according to the feature you must preserve

Change Likely daily-runtime benefit Effect on essential functions Display or performance effect Battery-health relevance
Reduce brightness and timeout Often useful when the screen is a major consumer; exact gain is not independently measured. Notifications and connectivity remain available. Screen is dimmer and turns off sooner. Indirect; lower heat and screen use can reduce overall stress.
Lower refresh rate Useful during reading and static tasks; no independent runtime figure is established. Calls, notifications and data remain active. Scrolling may look less smooth. Indirect; reduces display work rather than changing charging behavior.
Dark theme May help on some screens, as the manual states. Does not inherently disable communications. Changes appearance; app support varies. Indirect.
Restrict one high-drain app Can be substantial if the app is misbehaving or needlessly active. May delay notifications or background sync for that app. Little effect on other apps. Indirect; less background heat and activity.
Disable an idle radio Useful when hotspot, GPS or Bluetooth is genuinely unused. Ends the corresponding connection or location function. No display change. Indirect.
Power saving Designed to lower consumption during a low-battery period. Some background behavior may be reduced. Depending on mode, performance or features may be limited. Situational rather than a replacement for cool charging.
Super power saving Highest conservation option for emergencies. Features and app availability are limited. Performance and normal smartphone use are restricted. Useful for extending a charge, not a normal daily setting.
Cooler, moderate charging Does not add immediate capacity, but avoids heat-related losses and wear. All normal functions remain available when unplugged. High-power charging may take longer if you reduce heat. Most directly relevant to slowing heat-accelerated aging.

The table describes expected direction, not measured percentages. Vivo has published the charging and battery specifications, but no independent runtime test is established for these recommendations.

10. Troubleshoot common battery-life complaints

“My phone loses charge overnight.”

Check Usage since last full charge for a mobile-data, messaging, backup or social app spike. Confirm that hotspot is off, review Bluetooth accessories, shorten Screen timeout and check whether signal was weak. If the phone was charging under bedding or in a warm location, change the charging setup before evaluating the next night.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“Notifications stopped after I restricted an app.”

Restore that app’s background permission or battery setting. Essential messaging and work apps should not be treated like an idle game or shopping app. Test notifications while the screen is off and while the phone is on mobile data so you know which function was affected.

“The phone becomes hot while charging.”

Stop demanding foreground tasks, move the phone to a ventilated surface and check the charger and cable. Avoid long use while charging and temperatures above 35°C. If heat persists with the phone idle and a suitable accessory, unplug it and seek service rather than repeatedly forcing high-power charging.

“Battery capacity seems to be falling quickly.”

Review maximum capacity and cycle count in Battery health and charging, then compare recent app usage and charging temperatures. Frequent heat, long periods at full charge and heavy workloads can contribute to aging. Optimized charging or an upper limit may help where available, but neither reverses capacity already lost.

“Battery drain remains abnormal after these checks.”

Document the top battery consumers, recent updates, charging accessories and the conditions in which the drain occurs. Vivo’s troubleshooting guidance directs owners to a customer service center when abnormal consumption persists after app and setting checks. A service diagnosis is more appropriate than repeatedly disabling essential features.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A practical maintenance routine

  • Weekly: glance at Usage since last full charge and investigate a new top consumer.
  • Whenever you install an app: check its background behavior and notification requirements.
  • Before travel: charge in a cool place, verify navigation and Bluetooth needs, and decide whether an upper charge limit should be temporarily disabled.
  • During charging: avoid heat-producing workloads and use a suitable Vivo-standard accessory.
  • After an update: allow normal use, then recheck rankings instead of assuming the battery itself failed.

Start with the least disruptive change that addresses the measured drain. Preserve the radios, notifications and app permissions that support your daily work, and use stronger modes only when you deliberately accept their limitations.
