In Mortal Shell II, Mether’s Pulse is a refillable healing item. A reviewed guide reports that you unlock it after claiming your first Shell, refill its uses by resting at a Beacon, and improve it with two distinct items: Revered Glands add uses, while Synaptic Vessels increase the healing from each use. Beacon rests also revive regular enemies in the area, so using one has a cost.
How to unlock Mether’s Pulse
Nerd’s Chalk reports that Mether’s Pulse becomes available after you claim your first Shell, alongside the first Weapon and Sidearm. This trigger is reported by a secondary guide and is not independently confirmed by the available sources.
How to refill it at a Beacon
Rest at a Beacon to restore Mether’s Pulse to its current maximum number of uses. The guides say it does not regenerate passively while you are away from a Beacon.
A rest reportedly restores health and Resolve, but also revives regular enemies in the area. Bosses remain defeated. Consider that trade-off before resting just to refill a charge, especially if you have already cleared nearby enemies.
#1 Best Overall
- THEIR FLESH IS YOUR WEAPON: The corpses of exceptional warriors are scattered throughout Mortal Shell 2’s destroyed world. Once discovered, each warrior can be possessed, awakening their innate strengths and mastered abilities. Evolve your own style of combat by harnessing the unique abilities of each warrior and unlock their secrets through the discovery of lost memories.
- CLEANSE A RAVAGED WORLD: Mortal Shell 2’s compact open world connects over winding footpaths guarded by desperate and fanatical adversaries. Players who wander are rewarded with new warriors to possess, additional story elements, powerful and strange weaponry, upgrades, curiosities and more. Step through derelict temples of ancient deities, across forbidden forests and icy graves, into citadels carved out of bone. Scattered between these lost landmarks are more than 60 dungeons, each providing a challenging test of the talents and weaponry you have collected on your journey.
- DETHRONE FALSE GODS: You control the Harbinger, a being that must reclaim the Undermether’s stolen eggs that are now ruthlessly guarded by grotesque, dangerous creatures. Mortal Shell 2’s combat system is agile and expressive. Stamina gauges are removed, and execution options have been enhanced, delivering a kinetic and chaotic dark power fantasy. Precision meets intensity in high-stakes combat.
What the upgrade items do
| Item | Reported effect | Choose it for |
|---|---|---|
| Revered Gland | Increases the number of Mether’s Pulse uses available between Beacon refills. | More separate opportunities to heal before returning to a Beacon. |
| Synaptic Vessel | Improves the healing effectiveness of each use. | More healing value from each charge. |
The reviewed sources do not establish exact increases in charges or healing, so there is no reliable numerical comparison. Both items are reported as overworld loot. The guides also report that Merrick at Marrow Keep sells limited quantities, but do not establish a dependable quantity, price, or availability.
How to apply an upgrade
- Bring a Revered Gland or Synaptic Vessel to a Beacon.
- Select the Mether’s Pulse option.
- Spend the item on either capacity or healing effectiveness. Merely carrying an upgrade item does not apply its benefit.
Which upgrade should you choose?
There is no source-supported universal best order. Choose a Revered Gland if you value having more chances to heal between rests; choose a Synaptic Vessel if you prefer to get more healing from each use. The guides do not provide enough numerical or build-specific information to say one is always better.

“Mother’s Pulse” and other spelling searches
The item is spelled Mether’s Pulse in the reviewed game reference. “Mother’s Pulse” is presented in one guide as a mistaken spelling, not a separate item. Use Mether’s Pulse when looking for the healing item.
Source and version limits
The mechanics above come from secondary guides and an unofficial fan-made database, not a publisher-confirmed document. The available sources do not identify a game version, platform, or region for these details. Treat the unlock trigger, Beacon effects, and Merrick’s reported stock as guide-reported information rather than guaranteed behavior across every version.
