Start by identifying the symptom: a low or uneven frame rate is an FPS problem, while delayed hit registration, rubber-banding, or a yellow/red connection indicator is a network-latency problem. In BGMI, fix them in that order: check the in-game signal, lower graphics and choose a supported frame-rate option, close background apps or restart, then address heat, battery level, and connection quality.
BGMI’s official help articles support this sequence, but the frame-drop article is old and should be treated as baseline troubleshooting rather than a guarantee for every current game build or Android phone.
First, separate FPS drops from network lag
Players often call every unpleasant match “lag,” but the remedy depends on what is actually failing. Frames per second (FPS) measure how often the phone renders a new image. Network latency, commonly described as ping, measures how long data takes to travel between your phone and the game server and back. A powerful phone cannot repair a congested Wi-Fi connection, and a fast connection cannot prevent a hot phone from rendering fewer frames.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems| What you notice | Likely problem | What to check first |
|---|---|---|
| The camera or aiming view looks jerky; controls feel delayed even when the connection indicator is normal. | FPS instability or device performance throttling | Graphics quality, selected frame-rate tier, heat, battery, and background processes |
| Players teleport, shots register late, or your character snaps backward. | Network latency or packet loss | BGMI’s in-game signal indicator, then Wi-Fi or 4G |
| The phone is hot and performance worsens during a long session. | Thermal throttling, often accompanied by lower FPS | Stop charging while playing, cool the phone, and reduce rendering load |
| The problem appears only when battery is nearly empty or a power-saving mode is active. | Battery-related performance limits | Charge before playing and inspect Battery Saver settings |
BGMI says a yellow or red signal indicator means high ping. Treat that indicator as evidence of a connection issue, not proof that the phone’s GPU is too slow. Conversely, a green-looking connection with a visibly stuttering image points you toward rendering, heat, or system load.

A five-minute diagnostic sequence
Use the following order so that one change does not hide the original cause. Test in a match or training session after each meaningful change rather than judging from the lobby alone.
- Read the in-game connection indicator. Note its color while the problem is happening. If BGMI shows yellow or red, switch to a different available connection, such as a reliable Wi-Fi network or 4G, and compare the indicator in another match.
- Check whether the stutter follows camera movement. If the image itself hitches while the connection indicator remains acceptable, continue with graphics and device checks.
- Lower the rendering workload. Open BGMI’s graphics controls, reduce graphics quality, and select a frame-rate option that the game exposes for your device. A setting beyond the phone’s capability can create more stutter, not less.
- Close other apps. Remove demanding apps from the recent-apps view, then restart the phone if the problem persists. This clears processes that may continue using memory, CPU time, or network bandwidth.
- Remove heat and low-battery variables. Do not play while the phone is overheating or charging. Let it cool, charge it beforehand, and test again under normal room conditions.
This is a troubleshooting workflow, not a promise that every current-version issue has the same cause. BGMI’s frame-drop guidance was published long ago and may not describe every change in the current Android release or game build.
Choose graphics and FPS settings the phone can sustain
Higher image quality increases the work required from the GPU. A high frame-rate target also asks the phone to complete that work more frequently. If either demand exceeds the hardware’s sustained capability, frame pacing becomes uneven. In a competitive match, a consistent lower setting is usually more useful than a high target that repeatedly collapses.

- Open BGMI and tap the Settings control.
- Open Graphics & Audio.
- Choose a lower graphics quality than the one currently selected if you see stutter.
- Review the available frame-rate choices and select one that is actually offered for the device.
- Apply the change, enter a match, and test movement, camera turns, and close-range fights for several minutes.
Do not assume a preset named “high,” “ultra,” or a similar label is appropriate for every phone. BGMI’s official advice is to use graphics settings suited to the device and warns that settings above the hardware capability can cause lag or frame drops. There is no single official best preset for all Android models.
Prioritize frame consistency
If your phone can render a lower tier steadily but not a higher tier, choose the stable option. A fluctuating frame rate can feel worse than a lower but consistent rate because input timing changes from moment to moment. Judge the result in an actual match, where smoke, vehicles, multiple players, and large areas can create more load than an empty training scene.
Do not confuse display refresh rate with BGMI FPS
A 90 Hz or 120 Hz display can refresh the panel that many times per second, but it does not automatically make BGMI render at 90 or 120 FPS. The game, the phone’s graphics hardware, the Android software, and BGMI’s device eligibility all have to support the target. The in-game option is the practical eligibility check.
How to enable 90 FPS when your device is eligible
BGMI’s 90 FPS guide says the option must appear in the game’s Graphics settings on a supported device. If it is present, use this path:
Rank #2
- 【20W Power Ultra-Fast Cooling】The wired magnetic phone cooler utilizes high-performance Peltier element (TEC) with high heat dissipation capacity, and its heat dissipation ability lowers the temperature of the main unit by about 95℉. NOTE: Connection to power supply required for use. Power must exceed 20W for optimal performance. Data cable not included in packag.
- 【Simple Control】The cell phone cooling fan has a built-in Type-C interface, just connect the power cord and it is ready to use. Switch between overclocking mode and silent mode with the click of a button. 12N strong magnetic force holds the phone firmly in place and prevents it from falling off.
- 【Compact and lightweight design】The Magnetic cell phone cooler weighs only 0.18 lb in a small size, leaving more space for hand operation and being without overheavy burden.
- 【Quiet Operation】This smartphone cooler adopts noise reduction design, and the operating noise in silent mode is only 30db, allowing you to play games or watch videos comfortably.
- 【Vertical Air Duct Design】The vertical air duct design of FunCooler 5 smartphone cooling fan focuses on the user's actual experience and innovative ergonomic design, which provides a comfortable grip and does not dissipate heat to the hand.
- Open Settings in BGMI.
- Select Graphics & Audio.
- Choose the Smooth graphics style if the game presents that requirement.
- Select 90 FPS.
- Save or apply the setting, then test in a match.
Your phone may also have a display refresh-rate control in its system settings. The exact menu name and location vary by manufacturer, model, and software version. Set the display to its high-refresh option only when that control exists and the BGMI option is available; changing the panel refresh rate alone cannot create a missing in-game FPS choice.
If 90 FPS is listed but does not take effect after both the BGMI setting and the device refresh-rate setting are configured, BGMI’s guide directs players to in-game support. Avoid unofficial unlockers or modified game files: they do not establish compatibility and can introduce account or security risks.
How to enable 120 FPS when “Ultra Extreme” appears
BGMI’s 120 FPS guide uses a stricter check. The Ultra Extreme option must appear under the game’s Graphics settings. According to that guide, if the option is absent, the device does not support 120 FPS for BGMI at that time.
- Open BGMI’s Settings.
- Go to Graphics or Graphics & Audio, depending on the current interface.
- Look for Ultra Extreme in the frame-rate choices.
- If it appears, select it and configure the phone’s high-refresh display mode when the manufacturer provides one.
- Test in a real match rather than assuming the setting is active from the menu alone.
120 FPS is limited to selected high-refresh devices whose hardware and software support it. Manufacturer menu paths and eligibility can change, so do not treat a particular phone list or an old screenshot as a permanent compatibility roster. If the option appears but still does not apply after the game and device settings are correct, use BGMI’s in-game support channel.
| Question | What the available evidence establishes |
|---|---|
| Does a high-refresh screen guarantee 90 FPS? | No. BGMI must expose the 90 FPS option on a supported device. |
| Does a high-refresh screen guarantee 120 FPS? | No. BGMI says the Ultra Extreme option must appear; without it, 120 FPS is not supported for that device in the guide’s conditions. |
| Can a system refresh-rate toggle unlock a missing option? | Not on its own. It can be relevant only after BGMI exposes the supported tier. |
| What if a supported option fails? | Configure both game and device settings, then contact in-game support if it still does not apply. |
Control heat, charging, and battery level
Heat is one of the most common reasons a phone starts smoothly and becomes less responsive later. BGMI explains that overheating activates temperature control, which decreases frame rate. Its official help also states: “When the battery is low, the frame rate will drop, resulting in lag and frame drop.”
Before a session
- Charge the phone before launching a long match instead of relying on a charger during play.
- Remove a thick case temporarily if it traps heat and the phone manufacturer permits case removal during use.
- Play in a cool, ventilated place rather than in direct sun or inside a hot vehicle.
- Close demanding apps before starting BGMI.
During a session
- Stop if the phone becomes unusually hot; let it return to a normal temperature before testing again.
- Avoid playing while charging, especially with fast charging, because charging and gaming add heat at the same time.
- Lower graphics or frame rate if performance degrades progressively over the match.
A clip-on smartphone cooler can be considered only as an optional response to repeated overheating after these basic conditions are addressed. The available BGMI guidance establishes the heat-to-frame-rate relationship, but it does not test a cooler or guarantee a particular FPS improvement. Cooling also cannot fix high ping or a device that lacks a desired FPS option.
Close background apps and restart Android
Background processes can consume memory, CPU time, battery, and network capacity. BGMI’s official frame-drop advice recommends closing other running apps and restarting when necessary.

- Leave the match and save any work in other apps.
- Open Android’s recent-apps view and dismiss demanding apps, downloads, video editors, screen recorders, and other software you do not need while playing.
- Restart the phone if the problem began after many hours of use or after switching among several heavy apps.
- Launch BGMI again and test with the same graphics settings.
Do not repeatedly install “RAM cleaner” or unofficial booster utilities as a substitute for this step. They can add background activity of their own and do not prove that the game will render more frames.

Reduce network lag and high ping
When BGMI’s signal indicator turns yellow or red, investigate the connection rather than lowering graphics repeatedly. BGMI recommends trying Wi-Fi or 4G and comparing the in-game signal.
Test the connection methodically
- Play one short test on your usual connection and note the indicator color when the lag occurs.
- Switch to a different reliable connection, such as a stable Wi-Fi network instead of mobile data, or 4G instead of congested Wi-Fi.
- Repeat a comparable match or training exercise and compare the indicator and symptoms.
- If only one connection produces the problem, investigate that network’s distance from the router, congestion, or mobile signal rather than changing the phone’s graphics preset.
Network quality can vary by location, carrier, router, time of day, and server route. A different connection may improve ping without changing FPS, while a graphics reduction may improve FPS without changing ping. Keep those tests separate so you know which intervention helped.
Check Android power and game-mode controls carefully
Battery Saver
Google documents that Battery Saver can limit visual effects and cause delays in some features, network connections, and apps. Check whether it is active when diagnosing a phone-specific problem. Do not treat disabling Battery Saver as a universal BGMI FPS fix; the effect depends on the phone, Android version, battery state, and the way the manufacturer implements power management.
Manufacturer game modes
Some Android phones provide a gaming dashboard or performance mode. Names, controls, and behavior differ by manufacturer. Use such controls only after recording the original settings and watching for heat or battery costs. A mode that raises short-term performance can also increase temperature and cause later throttling.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Android’s Game Mode documentation describes platform and OEM interventions. On Android 13 and later, FPS throttling is intended to stabilize frame rate and reduce battery consumption, while backbuffer resizing can reduce GPU load. Android Developers gives conditional estimates of up to 30% GPU-load reduction and up to 10% overall system-power reduction for that platform intervention. Those figures vary by device and conditions; they are not a prediction of how many additional FPS BGMI will deliver, and the documentation does not show that toggling a user-facing setting improves BGMI on every phone.

- Universal Compatibility: This phone cooler provides two installation options – magnetic attachment and back clip fixation, making it perfect for most phone sizes. Whether you prefer the convenient magnetic snap-on or the sturdy back clip, it's designed to suit your needs.
- Wired USB-C Powered — Requires 15W+ Adapter for Peak Performance: This is a plug-in phone cooling fan, not wireless. For maximum 32°C cooling and fast frost, use a 5V/3A or 15W+ USB-C power adapter (not included) and a 3A-rated cable. The included 2A cable works for everyday cooling.
- Mute Engine Dissipation: Silent designing fan can efficiently emit wind from all sides, providing a stronger refrigeration effect, no disturbance to your gaming or your Vlog show.
- Large Cooling Area & Plug and Play: About 4.65 sq. Inches extreme thermal conductive cooling area to cover the CPU and battery module, protecting your phone from blackening or sudden shut-off. Use the C-type cable(included), plug and play.
- Use the same room, connection, and approximate battery level.
- Record the current graphics quality, frame-rate option, display refresh setting, and whether the phone is charging.
- Play the same type of scenario for several minutes, including camera turns and a busy area rather than only an empty lobby.
- Change one variable, such as graphics quality, and repeat.
- Write down whether the image is smoother, whether the phone becomes hot, and whether the signal indicator changes.
BGMI-specific evidence available for this guidance does not establish a typical percentage FPS gain from any one setting. Do not convert a smoother impression into a guaranteed number.
Troubleshoot by symptom
The match is smooth at first, then stutters
Suspect rising temperature, charging heat, or a sustained workload that the phone cannot maintain. Stop charging, let the phone cool, lower graphics or frame rate, and test again. If the problem disappears only after cooling, thermal limits are more plausible than a sudden network change.
The image is smooth but players teleport
Check the BGMI signal indicator. Yellow or red points toward high ping. Change between reliable Wi-Fi and 4G and compare the indicator before changing graphics.
90 FPS or 120 FPS is missing
For 90 FPS, the option must appear in BGMI’s Graphics settings on a supported device. For 120 FPS, the guide requires the Ultra Extreme option. A high-refresh display by itself is insufficient. Do not use unofficial unlock tools to force a missing tier.
The option appears but the game still feels uneven
Confirm the phone’s refresh-rate setting, apply the game setting again, close background apps, and retest after the phone cools. If the supported option still fails, use in-game support as BGMI recommends.
Performance is poor only when the battery is low
Charge before playing and check whether Battery Saver is active. Google’s documentation describes possible visual and app delays under Battery Saver, while BGMI specifically links low battery with frame drops. Neither source establishes that every phone behaves identically.
When changing phones is the rational option
Consider an upgrade only after confirming what your current phone can do in BGMI. The useful comparison is not the display refresh-rate number alone. Check:
- Whether BGMI exposes the desired 90 FPS or 120 FPS tier on the exact model and software version.
- Whether the phone can sustain performance without quickly overheating.
- Whether the display refresh rate is compatible with the target frame rate.
- Whether actual matches remain stable after several minutes, not just during a cool start.
The available guidance does not establish a current model-by-model compatibility list or provide device testing. Verify the option inside BGMI on the exact model before buying, and treat retailer claims about refresh rate as separate from BGMI eligibility.
What not to expect
- No universal best preset: hardware, software, temperature, and game updates differ.
- No guaranteed FPS percentage: there is no named BGMI statistic establishing a typical gain from lowering one setting.
- No display-only unlock: 90 Hz or 120 Hz hardware does not guarantee the corresponding BGMI option.
- No network cure from graphics changes: lower rendering load cannot repair high ping.
- No guaranteed cooler result: cooling may be relevant to a hot phone, but the cited BGMI guidance does not quantify a cooler’s benefit.
If the basic sequence—connection check, supported graphics choice, background-app cleanup, restart, and heat control—does not resolve the problem, collect the device model, Android version, BGMI version, selected graphics and FPS options, battery state, temperature symptoms, and connection indicator color before contacting in-game support. That information distinguishes a rendering issue from a network or compatibility issue.
