Short answer: Start by checking which PS5 model you own and which game update is installed, then use the graphics and options menu currently shown by your copy of Dragon’s Dogma 2. The base PS5 does not yet have a verified, universal 2026 settings recipe or a confirmed current frame-rate figure in the available platform-specific material. A March 2024 update historically added motion-blur control and a 30 FPS cap, but later patches may have changed the menu. Sony’s PS5 Pro material confirms improved frame rates and visual settings for the game, including 4K output in Performance mode, but it does not promise a locked 60 FPS. Treat “up to 60 FPS” claims about the 2026 console update as unverified for base PS5 until Capcom publishes PS5-specific notes.

What is actually confirmed for Dragon’s Dogma 2 on PS5?

Performance advice for this game has to be separated by console model and patch. A setting that exists on one version may be renamed, moved, or replaced after an update, and a target output is not the same thing as a measured or guaranteed frame rate.

Question What the available evidence establishes What it does not establish
Base PS5 performance The current exact menu and a representative 2026 frame-rate result are not verified in the available PS5-specific material. A guaranteed 30, 40, or 60 FPS result, or a universal best-setting combination.
Historical PS5 controls GameSpot reported that Capcom’s March 2024 PS5 update added an option to disable motion blur and an option to cap the frame rate at 30 FPS. That those are still the complete set of controls in the current build.
PS5 Pro Sony’s PlayStation Blog says the game benefits from improved frame rates and visual settings in both Fidelity and Performance modes. It describes Performance mode as producing 4K output. A locked 60 FPS result in every scene or a particular frame rate under all conditions.
Title Update 3.2 A 2026 secondary report claims up to 60 FPS in console Performance mode. That claim’s exact base-PS5 settings, test conditions, or measured results.

That distinction is the most important performance “setting”: do not turn a mode description, an option value, or an “up to” claim into a guarantee. Use the instructions below to make a defensible choice with the menu and patch installed on your own console.

Identify your PS5 model and game version first

Check whether you have a base PS5 or PS5 Pro

The base PS5 and PS5 Pro are different performance targets. Sony specifically attributes the documented improvements in Dragon’s Dogma 2 to PS5 Pro hardware. If you have a standard PS5, do not apply a PS5 Pro result to your console; if you have a Pro, do not assume that its output describes the base model.

Use the console’s system-information screen or the model information on the console packaging to identify the hardware. The in-game menu may not label the hardware model for you, so record it before comparing settings or reading an online recommendation.

Record the installed game update

From the PS5 home screen, highlight Dragon’s Dogma 2, open the options menu, and choose the update-check command if it is available. Allow the download and installation to finish, then restart the game. Menu labels can vary with the system language and firmware, so follow the wording shown by your console.

In the game, look for a title-screen version number, an update-history entry, or another build identifier. Write it down with your hardware model. This prevents a common mistake: comparing a March 2024 control with a later build while assuming both menus are identical.

Keep a baseline before changing anything

  1. Load a save in an area where you notice slow or uneven motion.
  2. Note the graphics mode and every performance-related option that is visible before changing it.
  3. Observe the same short route or camera movement for each comparison. Do not compare a busy town to an empty field and call the difference a setting improvement.
  4. Change one option at a time, return to the same location, and observe again.

This simple record is more useful than a screenshot of a settings menu because it preserves the patch, console model, scene, and choice that produced the result.

Best settings for PS5: a cautious base-console method

There is no verified, current base-PS5 recipe that can be presented as universally best. Instead, use the current graphics/options menu as a decision tree. Choose the mode that matches your priority, then test it in the same demanding scene.

If smoother motion matters more than maximum image quality

Choose the menu’s frame-rate or Performance-oriented choice if your current build offers one. If the menu exposes a frame-rate cap, treat the cap as a preference control rather than proof that the game reaches that number. A 30 FPS cap limits the output to 30 FPS; it does not establish that uncapped play is faster, steadier, or preferable on your particular build.

The historical March 2024 controls are useful as a reference point: Capcom added motion-blur disabling and a 30 FPS cap according to GameSpot’s report. If those controls appear in your current menu, turn motion blur off when you prefer a clearer image during camera movement, and use the cap only when its output matches your preference. If they are absent or renamed, do not assume the older instructions still apply.

If image detail matters more than motion consistency

Select the game’s Fidelity- or quality-oriented choice when that is the option your current build provides. Fidelity modes generally represent a visual-priority choice, but the available evidence does not provide a current base-PS5 resolution, frame-rate measurement, or complete list of visual effects. Judge the result in the game rather than relying on an old menu screenshot.

If you are unsure which mode is better

  1. Use the first mode for at least several minutes in a repeatable location.
  2. Watch both ordinary traversal and camera rotation; one can look acceptable while the other exposes judder or blur.
  3. Switch to the other mode without changing any unrelated console setting.
  4. Keep the mode that makes the game easier for you to read and control. Record the choice alongside the patch number.

This process produces a personal preference backed by the same scene and version, without claiming a frame rate that has not been measured for your hardware.

Base PS5 choices at a glance

Your priority Starting choice What to verify
Clearer movement Disable motion blur if the current menu provides that control. Whether camera movement looks clearer to you in the same scene.
Visual detail Use the available Fidelity or quality-priority mode. Whether the image improvement is worth the motion behavior you observe.
Predictable 30 FPS output Use the 30 FPS cap only if the current build still exposes it and you prefer that limit. The exact cap label and whether it changes your perceived consistency.
Maximum available motion performance Use the current Performance or frame-rate-priority mode, if present. The installed patch and the behavior in busy scenes; no base-PS5 lock is verified here.

What PS5 Pro changes

PS5 Pro owners have a documented hardware advantage for this title. Sony’s PlayStation Blog reports improved frame rates and visual settings across Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Fidelity and Performance modes, and identifies 4K output resolution for Performance mode. Those are PS5 Pro-specific statements.

How to use the Pro modes

  1. Open the game’s graphics menu and identify the Fidelity and Performance choices shown by your installed build.
  2. Start with Performance if motion is your priority, then check image clarity and output on your display.
  3. Try Fidelity if you prefer visual settings and can accept the mode’s motion behavior.
  4. Repeat the same-scene comparison after every game update because Capcom can revise the implementation.

Do not translate “improved frame rates” or “4K output” into “locked 60 FPS.” Sony’s published description does not make that guarantee, and output resolution alone does not state how consistently the game renders every scene.

Is buying a PS5 Pro the only meaningful upgrade?

No. It is an optional, high-cost hardware choice, not a prerequisite for playing the game. First use the free options in your current copy, verify the installed patch, and decide whether the difference you can see in your own scenes justifies new hardware. Sony’s documented benefit makes the Pro relevant for players who value higher frame-rate and visual targets, but it does not remove the need to choose between modes.

How to interpret the 2026 “up to 60 FPS” claim

A 2026 report about Title Update 3.2 claims up to 60 FPS in console Performance mode. “Up to” describes a ceiling or target, not a locked result. The available account does not establish whether the claim applies equally to base PS5 and PS5 Pro, which graphics settings were used, what scenes were tested, or whether the result was measured over a sustained session.

Until Capcom publishes PS5-specific update notes or reproducible measurements, label this as an unverified console claim. It is reasonable to check whether your updated menu exposes a Performance mode, but it is not accurate to promise that every base PS5 will run Dragon’s Dogma 2 at 60 FPS.

Troubleshoot uneven or disappointing performance

The menu does not show the option you expected

  • Confirm the game finished installing its latest update; a paused or partial installation can leave you on an older build.
  • Restart the game after updating and check the menu again.
  • Verify that an instruction you are following was written for your console model. PS5 Pro guidance is not automatically base-PS5 guidance.
  • Check the title-screen version or update-history information and retain it when asking for help.

The game looks blurred during movement

Look for the motion-blur control in the current in-game options. The March 2024 update historically added a way to disable it. If your current build offers the switch, compare enabled and disabled states in the same camera movement. If the control is missing, do not assume another visual setting has the same effect.

The game feels inconsistent after changing modes

  1. Return to the mode you recorded as your baseline.
  2. Reproduce the same route or camera movement.
  3. Check whether a frame-rate cap is enabled or disabled in the current menu.
  4. Change only the graphics mode and repeat the comparison.

Do not diagnose a patch or mode from one unusual moment. A crowded encounter, a different camera angle, or a changed save location can alter what you perceive without proving that a setting is responsible.

You cannot tell whether a change helped

Use a side-by-side routine: same save, same area, same display input, same camera path, and one changed setting. Write down the result immediately. If two choices look the same to you, keep the one with fewer compromises and stop changing settings; there is no benefit in chasing an unverified numerical target.

Settings you should not claim will improve base-PS5 performance without evidence

The available material does not verify that disabling ray tracing, lowering a particular quality setting, enabling 120 Hz output, or turning on VRR improves Dragon’s Dogma 2 on current base PS5. These features may exist at the system or display level, but their presence does not establish a game-specific benefit.

If one of these controls appears in your setup, treat it as an experiment and document the exact game version, console model, display, and observed scene. Do not present a personal result as a universal recommendation, and do not infer a frame-rate increase merely because the image looks different.

A practical decision framework

Question Action
Do you own a base PS5? Use the current menu, record the patch, and avoid quoting a guaranteed FPS number.
Do you own a PS5 Pro? Compare Fidelity and Performance modes; Sony documents improved frame rates and visuals, with 4K output described for Performance mode.
Do you prefer a cleaner moving image? Disable motion blur if the option is present in your current build.
Do you prefer a fixed limit? Use the 30 FPS cap only when your menu provides it and you prefer that behavior.
Have you read a claim of 60 FPS? Check whether it identifies your exact console and patch. Treat an unqualified “up to 60” statement as unverified for base PS5.

How to report your result accurately

When posting a question or troubleshooting report, include the console model, game version, graphics mode, frame-rate-cap state, motion-blur state, display model or input mode if relevant, and the exact scene where the issue occurs. Say whether you are describing a visual preference, a perceived slowdown, or a measured frame rate. This vocabulary prevents a PS5 Pro output claim from being mistaken for a base-PS5 measurement.

Capcom maintains an official PS5 FAQ, but the performance-setting details exposed in the available material are insufficient to establish the current base-PS5 menu. Recheck Capcom’s current update notes when a new patch arrives, especially if the menu labels or available modes change.
