The safest way to extend an iQOO phone’s battery life without making it feel slow is to remove waste selectively: inspect the battery-use report, keep the display adaptive when available, restrict only apps that do not need background access, and reserve aggressive saver modes for emergencies. Because iQOO models, Funtouch OS builds, carriers and regions expose different menus, use the closest label shown on your phone rather than assuming every path or feature exists.
Start with the battery-use report, not a blanket power-saving mode
Before changing performance settings, find the screen that reports battery use since the last full charge. On many iQOO phones it is under a Settings section named Battery, Battery usage or Usage since last full charge. The exact wording and layout depend on the model and Funtouch OS version.
What to check
- Open the battery section and select the usage view covering the current charge cycle.
- Look for an app consuming a large share of power compared with how much you actually used it.
- Check whether the high use coincided with weak reception, hotspot operation, navigation, long gaming sessions, video recording or another demanding activity.
- Open an app’s detail page, if available, to see foreground time, background time and network activity before changing its permissions.
The Funtouch OS manual describes these figures as approximate. Treat the screen as a way to identify patterns, not as laboratory-grade measurement. A navigation app can legitimately use substantial power during a trip; a messaging app that consumes power while you never opened it is a stronger candidate for a targeted restriction.

Use a short baseline
After a full charge, use the phone normally for a day and note screen-on time, charging time, mobile-signal conditions and demanding activities. Compare that baseline with one change at a time. Changing refresh rate, background policy and saver mode simultaneously makes it impossible to tell which adjustment helped or which notification stopped arriving.

Keep refresh rate adaptive instead of forcing the whole phone lower
If your model offers Smart Switch, adaptive refresh rate or a similarly named automatic option, it is usually the least disruptive display adjustment. iQOO describes Smart Switch on listed models as changing refresh rate according to the scene to reduce power consumption. The phone can remain smooth when the content benefits from a high rate while avoiding a fixed high rate in situations where it adds little value.
How to configure it
- Open Settings and look for Display and brightness, Screen refresh rate or a related display menu.
- Select Smart Switch, Auto or the adaptive choice if your phone provides one.
- Use the phone for a normal day, paying attention to scrolling, games and battery use rather than judging the setting from a single short session.
Do not assume every iQOO phone has Smart Switch, or that all models offer the same maximum and minimum rates. If the only choices are fixed rates, compare the available options against your own smoothness needs. A lower fixed rate may save power, but it is a personal trade-off and not a universal best setting. Keep a higher rate for games or interfaces where you can clearly feel the benefit, and avoid lowering it merely because a generic guide says to do so.
Restrict background work only where the report shows a problem
Background activity is useful for timely messages, navigation updates, alarms, wearable synchronization and other services. Disabling it everywhere can save some power while creating missed notifications and stale data. Use the battery report to choose individual apps that do not need continuous access.

Apply a per-app policy
- From the battery-use entry for the suspected app, open its battery, background-power or app-management controls.
- Choose the least restrictive option that addresses the observed drain, such as limiting background activity or allowing network access only when the app is in use.
- Leave messaging, navigation, alarm, accessibility and wearable apps unrestricted when you depend on their background behavior.
- Test notifications and synchronization for a full day. If something arrives late, restore the previous policy for that app.
Funtouch OS also provides network-management and background-power controls on some builds. Names and available switches vary by model and region, so do not treat a menu shown on another phone as evidence that your device supports the same control. Do not kill every recent app as routine maintenance; repeatedly reopening apps can defeat the purpose of the restriction and can make the phone feel less responsive.

Separate background drain from network conditions
Poor reception, hotspot use and prolonged mobile-data transfers can coincide with high system or network consumption. If the battery report rises during a period of weak signal, first compare another location or a Wi-Fi session before restricting unrelated apps. During travel, navigation and location updates are expected costs; the useful intervention is to stop them when the trip ends rather than permanently blocking location access.
Understand what each saver mode changes
Battery Saver is a trade-off, not a performance-neutral optimization. Depending on the build, it can reduce or stop background activity, visual effects, selected features and some network connections. Read the confirmation screen on your phone and enable it when those compromises are acceptable.

Use ordinary Battery Saver deliberately
Turn it on from the battery settings or quick settings only when the restrictions fit your situation. If you are waiting for an important message, using a wearable, or navigating, check whether the mode changes those services before relying on it. Turn it off again when the battery is replenished or the demanding situation has ended.

The Funtouch OS manual states: To save battery life by limiting the features of the device and reducing device performance, turn Super Battery Saver on.
That explicit performance reduction makes it unsuitable as an always-on solution for the goal of preserving normal speed. Use it temporarily when a power source is unavailable and the priority is keeping essential communication working.

Use sleep-time intelligence only if your phone supports it
Funtouch OS 15 advertises AI Smart power saving and AI sleep mode. The sleep feature is described as restricting unnecessary network connections while you sleep. Those options are not guaranteed on earlier software, every iQOO model or every region.
Check before enabling
- In Settings, search for “AI sleep,” “sleep mode” or “smart power saving,” or inspect the battery section for those labels.
- Read which connections, schedules and apps the feature will restrict.
- Set a sleep period that matches your routine and keep exceptions for alarms, emergency contacts or other services you genuinely need overnight.
- Verify in the morning that expected messages and wearable data arrived.
iQOO’s Funtouch OS 15 product material claims “1 more Hour of music playback” for AI Smart power saving. This is a vendor claim; the page does not establish independent testing or a result that applies to every model. Treat it as a feature description, not a guaranteed extra hour.
For plugged-in gaming, check for a model-specific bypass-charge option
iQOO 13 documentation describes Bypass Charging in a game scene. When enabled, the charger prioritizes powering the phone directly and greatly slows battery charging, with the stated aims of reducing charging heat while charging and playing and maintaining high performance for long periods. This is a conditional feature for iQOO 13, not a universal iQOO battery-life switch.
When it helps
- You are playing a demanding game while connected to a charger.
- Your priority is sustained performance and lower charging heat during that session.
- Your iQOO 13 software exposes the game-scene bypass option.
What it does not mean
- It does not extend unplugged runtime during ordinary use.
- It does not prove that every iQOO phone has the feature.
- It is not a reason to buy a generic accessory or to leave the phone connected indefinitely.
Look for the option inside the phone’s game mode or game-scene controls, and follow the wording shown on your build. If it is absent, do not substitute a hidden setting or assume a regular charging session has the same behavior.

Choose settings with a least-restrictive decision framework
When two possible changes seem reasonable, rank them by the benefit you can observe and the cost to your routine. The following order keeps responsiveness and essential background work intact as long as possible.

Common symptoms and targeted fixes
“The phone is smooth, but it loses charge overnight.”
Check the overnight portion of the battery report for background apps and network activity. If AI sleep mode is available on your Funtouch OS 15 phone, review its schedule and restrictions. Otherwise, limit only the app that shows unexplained overnight activity, while preserving alarms and messages you need.
“Notifications arrive late after I enabled a saver.”
Open the saver’s description and the affected app’s battery or background policy. Restore unrestricted operation for that app or disable ordinary Battery Saver when timely delivery matters. Do not jump directly to Super Battery Saver; it imposes broader limits and reduces performance.
“A game feels less responsive after a battery change.”
Check whether a fixed lower refresh rate or Super Battery Saver is active. Return to Smart Switch or the previous refresh setting, and reserve Super Battery Saver for emergency runtime. For an iQOO 13 played while charging, check whether Bypass Charging is available in the game scene instead of reducing normal display performance.

“The battery report shows high system or network use.”
Correlate the period with poor reception, hotspot use, navigation or a long data transfer. Repeat the same activity under a stronger connection or without the hotspot before changing app policies. The report is approximate, so look for a repeatable pattern across more than one charge cycle.
“I cannot find a setting mentioned in a guide.”
Search Settings for the feature name and check the phone’s model-specific manual. Smart Switch, AI sleep mode, bypass charging and individual network controls are not guaranteed across iQOO models, carriers, countries or Funtouch OS versions. An absent menu normally means the build does not expose that feature; it is not a reason to install an unofficial replacement.
Battery-health numbers need model and test qualifications
Longer time between charges is only part of battery care. Official iQOO pages make durability claims for particular devices, and those figures should not be generalized.
- An iQOO product page identified as product ID 63 claims 1,500 complete charge cycles while retaining 80% of battery capacity for that particular device. It is a product-page claim, not a promise for every iQOO phone.
- The iQOO Z9 5G page states capacity equal to or greater than 80% after 1,460 complete charging cycles in an iQOO laboratory simulation, with temperature and usage caveats. Laboratory results do not predict an identical outcome in every owner’s environment.
Neither figure establishes a universal replacement interval or a guaranteed daily runtime. Keep the model, test conditions and qualification attached whenever you use these numbers to set expectations.
A practical one-week tuning plan
- Day 1 — Baseline: Fully charge the phone, record the battery-use screen, and note reception, hotspot, navigation, gaming and screen-on time.
- Day 2 — Display: Enable Smart Switch or the adaptive option if present. If it is unavailable, leave the fixed rate unchanged until you know whether smoothness or runtime is more important to you.
- Day 3 — One app: Restrict background activity for the single nonessential app that the report identifies. Keep communication, navigation, alarms and wearables unrestricted.
- Day 4 — Verify: Check notifications, synchronization and the next battery report. Undo the app change if it causes a problem.
- Day 5 — Sleep: If your phone has Funtouch OS 15 AI sleep or smart power saving, configure it for your real schedule and inspect the morning results.
- Day 6 — High demand: During a plugged-in gaming session, use iQOO 13 Bypass Charging only if your model exposes it. Otherwise make no model-specific assumption.
- Day 7 — Decide: Keep changes that reduced observed drain without harming the tasks you rely on. Remove changes whose notification, gaming or smoothness cost is greater than their measured benefit.
This process targets avoidable consumption while leaving normal performance available when you need it. It also gives you a recoverable path: every change is identifiable, testable and reversible instead of hiding the cause behind an aggressive low-power profile.
