Samsung washers can have different filters: a pump debris filter on applicable front-load models, a lint filter on some top-load models, and mesh screens where the water-supply hoses connect. Which ones your washer has—and how to access them—depends on its model and market. Identify the filter before opening anything, then follow the matching instructions below or your washer’s manual.
Which filter does your Samsung washer have?

These parts are not interchangeable. If you are looking for a filter and cannot find it, first check the model’s manual rather than assuming it is hidden behind a panel or that every Samsung washer has one.
Where is the filter on a Samsung washing machine?
On a front-load model with a pump filter, look for a small access panel near the bottom of the front of the washer. The filter is behind it, alongside an emergency drain hose on the models covered by Samsung’s U.S. cleaning steps. The hose lets you drain leftover water before removing the filter.

How to clean a Samsung front-load pump filter
These steps follow Samsung U.S. guidance for an applicable front-load washer. Have a towel and shallow container ready to catch water. If the layout or removal method differs on your machine, stop and follow its manual.
- Open the access panel. Find the pump-filter panel near the lower front of the washer.
- Drain the remaining water. Place the container and towel beneath the emergency drain hose. Remove the hose cap and let the water flow into the container. Samsung warns that water may be very hot after a hot cycle; allow it to cool for one hour before draining.
- Remove the filter. Once the water has drained, twist the filter counterclockwise. Some models require you to push the filter in while twisting.
- Clean and inspect. Rinse away lint and debris, using a small toothbrush or another soft-bristle brush if needed. With the filter removed, check the pump impeller in the housing for debris.
- Reinstall the parts. Twist the filter clockwise until secure. Firmly replace the emergency-hose cap, put the hose back in its clip, and close the access panel.
Samsung U.S. recommends cleaning the pump filter at least once a month or approximately every 40 washes, whichever comes first. Its guidance does not state a publication date for this interval; follow the maintenance schedule in your model’s manual if it differs. Samsung U.S. cleaning instructions

How to clean a top-load lint filter
First confirm that your washer has a lint filter. Samsung Australia says availability varies by model, so do not try to remove a part that your washer does not have. Its instructions below are for Australian products; use your local model’s manual if the filter or its case is different.

- Remove the lint-filter case as directed for your model.
- Open the case cover and take out the filter.
- Rinse the filter and brush away lint or other debris.
- Let the filter dry, then reinstall it, making sure it is seated.

How to clean the water-hose mesh filter
The mesh filter screens the incoming water at the hose connection; it is not the pump filter that catches debris in the washer’s drain system. Samsung Australia recommends cleaning its water-hose mesh filter one or two times a year. That is regional guidance, updated August 18, 2026, not a universal schedule for every market or model. A clogged pump filter can interfere with draining and spinning, so it is one possible cause if either function is poor—not a definitive diagnosis.
