Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
To host The Immersive Revolution: Rebirth, use the exact CurseForge release 2.1.5 for Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge, download its matching dedicated-server files, run them on a 64-bit Java installation, and give every player the same pack and Forge build. A small private group generally needs about 6–8 GB of allocated memory; larger groups or heavily modified worlds need more headroom.
You can run the server on your own computer or choose managed Forge hosting. Self-hosting costs less when you already have suitable hardware but requires network configuration, backups and ongoing troubleshooting. Managed hosting handles much of that administration for a recurring fee.

What the server must match
Modded Minecraft is intolerant of version drift. The server, every client, the Minecraft version and the Forge loader must belong to the same release combination. For this pack, the documented combination is:
| Component | Required value | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Modpack | The Immersive Revolution Rebirth 2.1.5 | Determines the mod list, configuration and overrides. |
| Minecraft | 1.20.1 | A different Minecraft version can prevent Forge or individual mods from loading. |
| Loader | Forge for the 1.20.1 branch | The pack was built for Forge rather than Fabric or another loader. |
| Server files | The separate server release supplied for pack 2.1.5 | A client profile may contain client-only files and is not a safe substitute for the dedicated-server package. |
Keep “2.1.5” in the server folder name and in the joining instructions you send to friends. When a player reports an error, confirming this release number is faster than comparing individual mods one by one.

Choose between self-hosting and managed hosting
The best route depends on whether you want control or convenience. Neither option removes the need for matching client files.
| Consideration | Self-hosted computer | Managed Forge host |
|---|---|---|
| Initial work | Download files, install Java and Forge, configure the operating system and network. | Use a control panel or an advertised one-click pack installer. |
| Maintenance | You apply updates, inspect logs, schedule backups and repair failed launches. | The provider may supply upgrades, backups, FTP access, monitoring and support; check exactly what is included. |
| Network exposure | You configure firewall rules and router forwarding, and expose your home connection. | The provider supplies a public address and datacenter network; latency depends on location. |
| Cost pattern | Uses your electricity, bandwidth and hardware; no hosting subscription is required. | Recurring charge, with memory, CPU, storage, backup and location limits set by the plan. |
| Control | Full access to files, Java options, scripts and operating-system settings. | Control depends on the panel and contract, although FTP or file-manager access is commonly advertised. |
Listings for this pack have advertised automatic installation, control panels, backups, upgrades, FTP access, DDoS protection and tooling that prepares the correct Forge loader and handles client-only mods. Those are provider claims, not guarantees; verify them in the current plan documentation before paying.

Displayed prices captured for comparable listings included a $3.12-per-month starting price, a $15.92-per-month display and memory tiers priced at $6, $8 and $16. These figures are volatile commercial displays, may represent different locations or billing terms, and should be rechecked on the provider’s current checkout page. Compare the total recurring price rather than the headline number.
Memory and hardware planning
Memory is the first sizing decision, but RAM alone does not determine capacity. World-generation speed, CPU performance, storage latency, simulation distance, view distance and the number of extra mods all affect tick time.
| Group or workload | Practical starting allocation | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Small private group | About 6 GB | Provider guidance treats 6 GB as a minimum estimate, not a measured limit. |
| Small group with headroom | About 8 GB | An 8 GB recommendation is commonly given for a small group running the pack. |
| Ten or more players | About 10–12 GB | One provider suggests this range; it is still an estimate and depends on activity and settings. |
| Heavy exploration, high view distance or added mods | More than the starting range may be necessary | Increase allocation only after checking logs and system resource use. |
Do not assign all physical memory to Java. The operating system, file cache and other services need room, especially when the server and game client run on the same PC. If your computer has 16 GB of RAM, allocating 8 GB leaves substantially less room for Windows or Linux than it would on a dedicated 32 GB machine.
What to monitor before buying more memory
- Watch Java memory usage while players explore new terrain, not only while everyone stands in one base.
- Check CPU utilization and tick-time warnings in the server log; a CPU bottleneck will not be fixed by adding RAM.
- Observe whether the operating system is swapping to disk. Swapping can make a server feel stalled even when the Java heap appears large.
- Lower view or simulation distance temporarily to distinguish world-generation pressure from a persistent mod problem.
Self-hosting: complete setup procedure
1. Prepare a dedicated server directory
Create a new folder used only for this server. Avoid placing it inside the client profile, a synchronized cloud folder or a directory that is automatically cleaned by a game launcher. Use a name that includes the release, such as a folder labeled with “Rebirth 2.1.5,” so an update cannot silently overwrite the old installation.
2. Download the matching server release
Open the CurseForge release listing for The Immersive Revolution Rebirth 2.1.5 and download the separate server file supplied for that release. Do not upload a normal client profile to a host and assume it is equivalent. Keep the downloaded archive unchanged until you have copied it into the new server directory and verified its contents.

The server package may already contain Forge files, scripts, configuration folders and the required mod set. If it does, use those files as the authority. If it does not include a ready Forge installation, continue with the installer step below.
3. Install a supported 64-bit Java runtime
Forge’s 1.20.x documentation requires a 64-bit Java runtime. Install a 64-bit Java version supported by the Forge 1.20.x branch, then open a terminal or command prompt and run:
java -version
Confirm that the command resolves to the Java installation you intend to use and that it identifies a 64-bit server JVM. If the command is not found, add Java’s executable directory to the system PATH or use the full path in the generated startup script. A 32-bit runtime cannot address the memory allocations normally used by a modpack server.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
4. Install Forge when the package requires it
Download the Forge installer matching Minecraft 1.20.1 and the Forge build specified by the pack’s server release. Run the installer in the empty server directory and choose Install server. Do not install Forge into your client profile and then copy files indiscriminately; the dedicated installation creates the libraries and launch files the server needs.
After installation, review the generated files and scripts. A current Forge installation may provide a Windows batch script and a Unix-like shell script. Use those generated scripts instead of inventing a jar filename, because Forge can change the launch layout between releases.
5. Complete the first launch and accept the EULA
Start the generated server script once, then stop the process when it creates eula.txt. Open that file, change the agreement line to:
eula=true
Save the file and start the server again. The EULA flag only permits the server to continue; it does not prove that the modpack loaded successfully. Wait for the log to report that the server has finished loading before attempting to join.

6. Copy only server-safe pack content
Use the server release’s supplied mods, config, defaultconfigs, scripts and other overrides. Client-only mods can crash a dedicated server or produce a misleading dependency error, so never assume every file in a client profile belongs on the server. If a host panel offers a “server pack” import, use that package rather than dragging the entire client instance into the file manager.
When you add an individual mod later, check whether it is marked server-side, client-side or required on both sides. A mod that only changes graphics, menus or input normally has no place in the server’s mods directory, but the pack’s own documentation should decide in ambiguous cases.
7. Set the Java memory flags
Edit the generated startup script and set an initial heap of about 6–8 GB for a small group. The relevant options are the minimum and maximum heap flags:
-Xms6G -Xmx8G
Use values appropriate to your machine; the example starts with 6 GB and allows Java to grow to 8 GB. For a group of ten or more players, or for a world with frequent exploration and additional mods, plan headroom above 8 GB rather than treating 8 GB as a guaranteed ceiling. Keep enough memory for the operating system and any game client running on the same computer.

8. Configure the server and local firewall
Stop the server before editing configuration. Set the world name, difficulty, game rules and view or simulation distances in the server configuration file as required. Keep the configured network port noted in your player instructions.
On the host computer, allow the Java server process through the operating system firewall for the configured port. If friends are connecting from outside your home network, create a router port-forwarding rule to the computer’s local address. Reserve that local address in the router or assign it a static address so the forwarding rule does not break after a reboot.

Give friends your public address and the configured port, not the private address that begins with a home-network range. Do not publish the address in an open forum. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, inbound forwarding may not work; in that case, use a managed host or a private networking solution rather than repeatedly changing firewall rules.
9. Validate a clean launch
Start the server and read the complete startup log. A successful process should reach the normal “finished loading” state without a fatal exception. Test locally first, then have one remote player connect before inviting the whole group.
- Confirm the world saves and that a restart restores the player’s position and inventory.
- Travel a short distance to trigger chunk generation while watching CPU, memory and log output.
- Stop the server from the console rather than killing the process so world data can be flushed safely.
- Record the exact pack, Minecraft and Forge versions in a text file beside the server scripts.
10. Build a backup routine
Stop the server or use a backup method that guarantees a consistent world before copying files. Store backups outside the live world directory and keep at least one copy on another disk or machine. Before changing pack versions, replacing the mods folder or rebuilding the server, create a dated backup that includes the world, configuration and scripts.
Test restoration on a separate directory. A backup that has never been opened is only an assumption, not a recovery plan.

Managed hosting: what to check before ordering
A managed host can install the exact pack, allocate RAM and expose a public address without requiring router changes. The control panel may provide file management, scheduled backups, restart controls and upgrade tools. Some services advertise automatic Forge setup, FTP access, DDoS filtering and detection of client-only mods.
Ask these questions before selecting a plan:
- Can the panel pin The Immersive Revolution Rebirth 2.1.5, Minecraft 1.20.1 and the required Forge build instead of installing only the newest pack?
- How much RAM and CPU capacity is dedicated to the instance, and what happens when you exceed the plan’s limit?
- How often are backups made, how many are retained, and can you download them?
- Can you upload the supplied server pack through a file manager or FTP if the one-click installer is unavailable?
- Which datacenter locations are offered, and where will most players connect from?
- Are upgrades, support and DDoS protection included or charged separately?
- Can you roll back after a failed modpack update?
Do not treat an “8 GB server” label as equivalent across companies. CPU scheduling, storage speed, memory limits and overselling policies differ. A lower-priced plan can be adequate for a quiet private world, while a larger group may need stronger CPU headroom even when the advertised RAM is identical.
Getting every player ready to join
Send players one unambiguous installation checklist. Each person should:
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
- Install the same CurseForge release, The Immersive Revolution Rebirth 2.1.5.
- Use Minecraft 1.20.1 and the same Forge build as the server.
- Let the launcher finish downloading every mod before opening multiplayer.
- Remove extra mods from the profile unless the server administrator has approved them.
- Enter the public address and configured port supplied by the administrator.
If one player can join and another cannot, compare the failing player’s profile against the working profile before changing server files. Client logs often identify a missing dependency or a different mod version immediately.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

“Incompatible version” or “mismatched mod list”
Check the release number, Minecraft version and Forge build on both sides. A client updated itself to a newer pack release can fail even when the server still runs normally. Reinstall the exact 2.1.5 profile or update the server and all clients together after taking a backup.
The server closes during startup
Read the first fatal exception and the lines immediately above it. Common causes include a missing library, a wrong Forge installer, a corrupted download or a client-only mod in the server directory. Restore the supplied server files, remove only the identified offending addition and launch again. Increasing -Xmx is useful only when the log shows an out-of-memory condition.
The server says the EULA is not accepted
Stop the process, open the eula.txt in the active server directory and set eula=true. If the message returns, you may be editing a different folder from the one used by the startup script; check the script’s working directory.
Friends cannot connect, but local testing works
Verify that the server is listening on the port configured in its properties file, that the operating-system firewall allows Java, and that the router forwards that port to the correct local address. Make sure friends use your public address rather than a private address. If your provider blocks inbound connections through carrier-grade NAT, home hosting may not be possible without an alternate network arrangement.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Players connect but experience lag or timeouts
Check the server log and system monitors while the lag occurs. New-terrain exploration can stress CPU, storage and memory simultaneously. Lower view or simulation distance, pause large world-generation tasks and test again. Add RAM only when memory pressure is demonstrated; provider recommendations are not independent performance benchmarks.
A change or update broke the world
Stop the server, restore the last known-good backup and document which mod, configuration or pack release changed. Never overwrite the only backup with a newly generated world. Test the updated files in a copy before replacing the live instance.
Operational habits that prevent repeat outages
- Keep the server release number in the folder name, startup message and player instructions.
- Change one mod, configuration value or memory setting at a time.
- Restart on a schedule that suits your group, and stop cleanly before maintenance.
- Review logs after every update instead of assuming a successful process exit means every mod loaded.
- Maintain at least one backup outside the server computer before changing versions.
- Ask players to send the complete error text and their pack and Forge versions when reporting a problem.
Which route should you use?
Choose self-hosting when you have a reliable always-on computer, control of the router and time to maintain Java, files, backups and logs. Choose managed hosting when friends need a server that stays reachable without exposing your home network, or when you prefer a panel to manual installation. In either case, start with the matching 2.1.5 server release, allocate roughly 6–8 GB for a small group, and verify the complete Forge and Minecraft version pairing before diagnosing anything more complicated.
