Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
To host an FTB Presents Integration by Parts DX server, choose either the official Feed The Beast server files and run them on your own Windows, macOS, Linux, or FreeBSD machine, or rent a managed Minecraft server that offers the pack preinstalled. The pack targets Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge, lists Java 11, requires at least 4 GB of RAM, and recommends 6 GB. For a group, treat 6 GB as the practical starting point rather than the bare minimum.
What you need to run Integration by Parts DX
Integration by Parts DX is a Feed The Beast modpack identified as Pack ID 107. It runs on Minecraft 1.16.5 with the Forge mod loader. Every player must use a client installation that matches the server’s pack and version; a different Minecraft version, Forge build, or modpack revision can prevent a connection or create missing-mod errors.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

| Item | What the official listing states | Practical meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft version | 1.16.5 | Install the 1.16.5 client and server files, not a newer vanilla release. |
| Mod loader | Forge | The launcher and server must use the Forge-based pack profile. |
| Pack identifier | Feed The Beast Pack ID 107 | Use the Integration by Parts DX entry when selecting a server package or managed-host template. |
| Memory floor | At least 4 GB RAM | This is a minimum listing, not a comfortable target for a busy multiplayer world. |
| Recommended memory | 6 GB RAM | Use a 6 GB allocation as the starting tier for a small group, then monitor actual usage. |
| Java | Java 11 | Install and select a 64-bit Java 11 runtime. The listing does not state a Java 8 requirement. |
The official pack listing states Java 11, at least 4 GB of RAM, and recommends 6 GB. Check the current pack page before installation in case the maintainer has changed the supported Java version or recommended allocation.
Choose between self-hosting and managed hosting
Self-hosting gives you control over the machine, files, backups, and network. Managed hosting trades some control for a web panel, automated provisioning, and support. Neither route changes the pack’s Minecraft, Forge, Java, or memory requirements.

| Decision factor | Self-hosted server | Managed server |
|---|---|---|
| Setup effort | Install Java, obtain the official server files, complete the first-run configuration, and make the server reachable to players. | Select the pack in a provider’s Minecraft catalog; the provider provisions a preconfigured instance. |
| Hardware | Your computer or rented virtual machine supplies the CPU, RAM, storage, and network connection. | You select a plan with a stated memory allocation and the provider supplies the machine. |
| Control | Full access to server files, scripts, logs, backups, and operating-system settings. | Panel-level access, with operating-system access and advanced settings depending on the provider. |
| Maintenance | You handle Java updates, operating-system patches, backups, upgrades, and recovery. | The provider handles the host machine; you still manage worlds, players, permissions, and pack updates. |
| Network exposure | You must make the Minecraft listening port reachable from the internet or use a private network. | The provider normally supplies a public address and port after provisioning. |
| Cost model | Uses hardware and electricity you already own, or the recurring price of a virtual machine. | Recurring hosting charge based on the selected memory and features; current prices vary by provider and region. |
Self-host when control matters most
Choose self-hosting if you can administer a computer, want direct access to logs and configuration, or already have an always-on machine with spare memory. It is also the better route when you need custom scripts, local backups, or an offline test instance. You remain responsible for exposing the service safely and for keeping the server available when friends want to play.
Use managed hosting when convenience matters most
A managed service is easier when you do not want to configure Java, firewall rules, or port forwarding. The providers listed for this pack advertise different provisioning workflows: BisectHosting installs it through a Minecraft selector; Stickypiston offers it in a Multicraft panel and provides a World Manager for uploading saves; ScalaCube installs it after you add a game server and choose the pack; ZAP-Hosting describes automatic setup after payment. CreeperHost and Spot.gg also publish hosted pages for the pack. Confirm the current pack version, available Java runtime, backup policy, and memory allocation before paying, because catalog entries and plans can change.
Self-hosting: prepare the machine
1. Allocate enough memory
Reserve at least 4 GB for the server process, and plan for 6 GB or more for a real group. The allocation is not the same as total system RAM: the operating system, desktop, monitoring tools, and any other services need memory too. On a small home machine, 6 GB assigned to Minecraft may require more than 8 GB of physical RAM. Leave headroom so the operating system does not start swapping to disk.
- Use a 64-bit operating system and a 64-bit Java runtime.
- Prefer an SSD for the server directory and world saves; modded worlds perform frequent small reads and writes.
- Keep several gigabytes free for region files, logs, backups, and future pack updates.
- Use a wired connection where possible. Wi-Fi can work, but packet loss and local interference make diagnosing lag harder.
2. Install Java 11 and verify it
The pack listing specifies Java 11. After installing a 64-bit Java 11 distribution appropriate for your operating system, open a terminal or command prompt and run:
java -version
The output should identify version 11 and a 64-bit VM. If it reports Java 8, remove that runtime from the server’s path or explicitly select the Java 11 executable in the start script or hosting panel. Do not assume that the Java used by your desktop launcher is the Java used by a separately started server.
3. Choose a stable server location
Create a dedicated directory such as IntegrationByPartsDX-server on the SSD. Avoid placing it inside a cloud-synchronised folder: synchronisation can lock files while the server is writing and can produce incomplete backups. Give the account that runs the server read, write, and execute access to this directory, but do not run the service as an administrator or root account unless your operating system requires a narrowly scoped exception.

Download the official server files
Feed The Beast provides server files through its official server installer and server-files browser. The pack’s versions tab is the place to check for the current server package. The installer and files are offered for Windows, macOS, Linux, and FreeBSD.
- Open the Feed The Beast listing for Integration by Parts DX and confirm that it is Pack ID 107 and targets Minecraft 1.16.5.
- Open the pack’s Versions area and note the exact release you intend to run. Record that version before downloading so every player can install the same one.
- Use the official server installer or the server-files download associated with that version. Do not mix a server archive from one pack release with a client profile from another.
- Place the downloaded installer or archive in the dedicated server directory. If the download is compressed, extract it there while preserving its folder structure and file names.
- Run the installer according to the instructions included with that package. Let it generate the Forge libraries, configuration files, launch files, and server jar it expects; do not rename generated files until you know which start script references them.
The exact file names and launch mechanism can change between pack releases. Use the readme or script included with the downloaded files rather than copying a command intended for another Forge pack.
Complete the first server launch
The following items are standard Minecraft-server tasks; the Integration by Parts DX listing does not specify them individually. Treat the installer output and included readme as authoritative if they differ.
Accept the EULA
A first launch commonly creates an eula.txt file and stops until the EULA is accepted. Read the agreement, then change the file’s acceptance value only if you agree to it. Start the server again using the generated launch script. If no EULA file appears, follow the pack’s supplied instructions instead of creating one by guesswork.
Check the listening port
Minecraft servers commonly read the listening port from server.properties. Keep the default if it is available, or choose another unused TCP port and use the same value in your firewall and router rules. No pack-specific port is published, so do not assume that an alternate port is required.

Use the generated start script
Forge packs often ship a Windows batch file or a Unix shell script that points to the correct libraries and server jar. Run that file from the server directory so relative paths resolve correctly. If you create your own script, copy the Java options and jar or library path from the installer-generated files; the correct name is release-specific. Set the maximum heap to a value consistent with your available RAM, using 4 GB only as the listed floor and 6 GB as the recommended starting allocation.
Wait for a clean startup
A successful startup normally leaves the process running and reports that the server is ready for commands. The first launch can take longer while Forge creates libraries and world data. Stop it with the server’s normal stop command rather than closing the terminal window, then restart once to verify that the world and configuration persist.
Make the server reachable to players
On a home network
- Give the host computer a stable local address, either with a DHCP reservation on the router or a correctly configured static address.
- Allow the Java server process through the operating system firewall on the chosen TCP port.
- Forward that same port from the router to the host computer’s local address. Router labels vary, so look for Port Forwarding, NAT, or Virtual Server.
- Share your public address and port only with the people who need access. Test from a connection outside your home network; testing from the same LAN can succeed even when the internet forwarding rule is wrong.
Your internet provider may place you behind carrier-grade NAT, which prevents inbound forwarding. In that case, use a managed host or a private overlay network that all players can join. Do not expose unrelated administration ports to the internet.

On a virtual or dedicated machine
Open only the Minecraft port in the provider’s network firewall and the operating system firewall. Restrict SSH, remote desktop, or panel access to trusted addresses, use key-based authentication where available, and keep the operating system patched. A public server should run under a non-privileged account and should not share its directory with unrelated web applications.
Configure the world and access controls
Before inviting players, stop the server cleanly and review the generated configuration files. Set the world name, difficulty, game mode, view or simulation distances, and player limit only where those options are present in the pack’s files. Keep a written record of changes so you can reproduce the configuration after an update.

- Use the server console to grant operator access only to people who need administrative commands.
- Use a whitelist for a private group. Add each player’s exact in-game name, then verify that the whitelist is enabled.
- Change the default server message so players can identify the correct instance.
- Do not edit mod configuration files while the server is running; many changes are overwritten or ignored until a restart.
Make a backup before changing world-generation settings. Existing chunks generally retain their old generation rules, while newly explored areas may use the new settings, producing a visible boundary.
Install and test the matching client
- Install the Feed The Beast launcher or the launcher method specified by the pack page.
- Select FTB Presents Integration by Parts DX and the same release number used by the server.
- Confirm that the launcher reports Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge, then let it download every listed mod and dependency.
- Launch once in single-player to allow client files to finish generating, then exit before connecting.
- Connect with the server address and port. If the server is private, add the player’s name to the whitelist first.
Do not copy a vanilla 1.16.5 installation into the pack profile. The pack’s mods, Forge libraries, configuration, and resource files must come from the same pack release as the server.
Managed hosting setup
A managed host removes most operating-system work, but you still need to select the right pack and memory tier. The names and panel labels below reflect the published workflows and can change.
- Open the provider’s Minecraft server order page and locate FTB Presents Integration by Parts DX, Pack ID 107, or its Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge listing.
- Select at least the pack’s recommended 6 GB tier for a group. Check whether the advertised memory is dedicated to the Java process or shared with the panel and system services.
- Complete payment or provisioning. Some providers describe the server as automatically configured after payment; others require you to add the game server in a control panel.
- Wait for the provider to finish installing the pack, then open the console and verify the Minecraft, Forge, Java, and pack versions before uploading a world.
- Set the server name, whitelist, operator accounts, difficulty, and other options in the panel. Restart only after saving changes.
- Upload an existing world with the panel’s world-management tool if needed. Stickypiston specifically advertises World Manager uploads; other panels may use a file manager or an import button.
- Use the displayed address and port to test a connection with one client before inviting the rest of the group.
Ask support which Java version is active, where backups are stored, how often they run, and whether restoring a world also restores its configuration and mod files. A preinstalled pack simplifies deployment but does not guarantee that the host has the newest pack release.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Memory, performance, and scaling
Start with the recommended allocation
The official recommendation is 6 GB. Assigning far more memory does not automatically improve performance: an oversized Java heap can create longer garbage-collection pauses, while too little memory causes allocation failures or severe lag. Increase the allocation only after checking logs and actual memory use.

Control the main sources of load
- Limit simultaneous players to the number your CPU and memory can sustain.
- Reduce view and simulation distances if players generate lag while exploring.
- Pre-generate important travel areas during a maintenance window if the pack or your chosen tools support it; unexplored terrain generation is often the most demanding activity.
- Keep automated farms, item transport, and constantly loaded areas under control. Ask players to shut down machines they are not using.
- Watch the server console and operating-system memory, CPU, disk, and network metrics rather than judging performance from one player’s connection alone.
Recognize memory pressure
Frequent pauses, out-of-memory errors, or a steadily increasing process size indicate that you should stop the server, inspect the latest log, confirm that Java 11 is actually running, and review the allocated heap. Do not delete world or mod files to solve a memory problem; make a backup and identify the failing component first.
Backups, updates, and rollback
Back up consistently
Stop the server before making a complete copy of the world directory, configuration files, and the pack’s server files. Keep at least one backup outside the host machine and periodically test restoring it to a separate directory. A backup that has never been restored is only an assumption.
Update deliberately
- Record the current pack version, Forge version, Java version, configuration changes, and world backup location.
- Read the release notes supplied with the newer server files and check whether a world migration is required.
- Make a fresh, offline backup before replacing files.
- Install the new server files in a separate directory or use the managed host’s staging or backup feature.
- Start the updated server without players, inspect the console for missing mods or registry errors, and join with a matching client.
- Keep the previous directory until the new version has been tested and a rollback plan is clear.
Never update only the server while leaving clients on an older pack release. If a new version fails, stop the server, restore the previous files and world backup, and document the error before trying again.
Troubleshooting checklist
| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| “Incompatible mod set” or missing-mod message | Client and server use different pack releases, Forge versions, or configuration expectations. | Compare the exact Integration by Parts DX version and reinstall the matching client profile. |
| Server exits immediately | Wrong Java runtime, incomplete installer run, rejected EULA, or an error in the generated launch files. | Run java -version, read the first error in the latest log, verify the EULA state, and rerun the supplied installer or script. |
| Players time out | Incorrect address, blocked firewall, missing port forwarding, or carrier-grade NAT. | Test locally, then from an outside network; check the host firewall, router rule, and provider firewall. |
| Severe lag during exploration | World generation, insufficient CPU, too little memory, or an overloaded view distance. | Check CPU and heap usage, lower distances, reduce concurrent exploration, and allocate up to the recommended 6 GB if the machine has headroom. |
| World rolls back or becomes corrupted | Power loss, forced process termination, or an incomplete file-copy backup. | Stop the server normally, restore the newest known-good backup, and investigate storage and shutdown procedures. |
| Players cannot join after a host migration | Address or port changed, or the provider restored files without the correct world and configuration. | Verify the new endpoint, confirm the selected pack release, and check that the intended world is active. |
Security and administration basics
- Use a whitelist for a private server and grant operator status sparingly.
- Do not publish console credentials, panel passwords, or backup download links in chat.
- Keep Java, the operating system, and the hosting panel updated within the versions supported by the pack.
- Review logs after adding a mod, importing a world, or changing permissions.
- Schedule maintenance announcements before restarts and backups so players do not build while files are being copied.
- Keep an offline recovery copy before deleting unused worlds, changing generation settings, or accepting a major pack update.
Which hosting route should you choose?
Choose self-hosting if you value complete file access, already own suitable hardware, and are comfortable managing Java, networking, updates, and backups. Choose managed hosting if your priority is getting a playable server online quickly, avoiding router configuration, or giving less-technical administrators a control panel. In either case, select a plan or machine that can provide the pack’s recommended 6 GB allocation, verify Java 11, and keep every client on the same Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge pack release.
