Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
To host an FTB Legend of the Eyes server, download the official server installer for pack ID 102 and release 1.9.0 (version ID 6559), run it in a dedicated writable directory, then start the generated server script. The documented release uses Minecraft 1.19.2, the Fabric loader, and Java 17. Allocate at least 4 GB of RAM; 6 GB is the official recommendation.
This guide uses the pack’s official name, Legend of the Eyes (singular), although many players search for “Legends of the Eyes.” It covers installation on Windows, macOS and Linux, release pinning, Java and memory decisions, client matching, updates and common installation failures. Router forwarding and firewall rules are intentionally treated as environment-specific because the official installation material does not define one universal command for every operating system and router.

What you need before installing
Prepare the host before downloading anything. A modded server is easier to recover when its files live in one dedicated directory rather than in Downloads, a desktop folder or a directory shared with another Minecraft instance.
Required software and versions

The FTB page displays 105,344 installs and 445,140 plays. Those are Feed The Beast page counters observed in 2026, not independently dated historical statistics, so they should not be interpreted as a time-based player-count measure.

Choose a suitable host directory
- Create a new directory reserved for this server, such as
C:FTBLegendOfTheEyeson Windows or~/servers/legend-of-the-eyeson macOS/Linux. - Confirm that your account can create, modify and delete files there. The installer must download archives, extract them and write startup files.
- Keep the directory separate from the client installation. Mixing client and server files makes updates and troubleshooting harder.
- Do not rename the downloaded installer. FTB states that the filename carries pack information, so changing it can prevent the expected command or metadata from working.
Download the official server installer
Open FTB’s official Server Files page for Legend of the Eyes. Select release 1.9.0 (ID 6559), choose the operating system, and download the installer. The release selector is important: choosing “latest” without recording an ID can produce a different file set later.
macOS download command
The macOS endpoint published for this release is:

Run it from the directory you intend to use for the server, or move the file there before launching it. The endpoint includes both the pack ID and release ID, which is why this command remains tied to version 1.9.0.

Verify that you selected the intended release
- Pack name: FTB Legend of the Eyes.
- Pack ID: 102.
- Release: 1.9.0.
- Version ID: 6559.
- Platform: the operating system on which the server will run.
If any of these values differ, stop and decide whether you deliberately want another release. Do not assume that a newer release has identical mods, configuration files or resource requirements.
Install on Windows
Graphical installation
- Move the downloaded Windows executable into the dedicated server directory.
- Leave its filename unchanged.
- Double-click the executable.
- When the installer asks for an install location, select the dedicated directory. If it is already running from that directory, use that location rather than creating a second nested folder.
- Allow the installer to download and extract the server files. It is a single binary that performs the download and extraction rather than a manually assembled collection of mod files.
- When the process finishes, look for the generated startup file, including
run.bat, in the server directory.
Command-line installation
For a repeatable installation, open Command Prompt or PowerShell, change to the target directory, and run the installer with explicit IDs:
serverinstaller.exe -pack 102 -version 6559The exact executable name must match the file you downloaded. If FTB’s downloaded filename differs, use that name while retaining the -pack 102 -version 6559 arguments. Explicit IDs are preferable for a documented server because they prevent the installer from silently selecting a later stable release.
What the Windows installer does
FTB’s installer can select an installation directory, validate files, choose a release and download Java. Once extraction completes, the generated startup file is the entry point for the server. Do not launch a random JAR from the directory unless the generated instructions specifically tell you to; the startup file carries the intended runtime options.

Install on macOS or Linux
Run the downloaded binary
- Open Terminal.
- Change to the dedicated directory, for example
cd ~/servers/legend-of-the-eyes. - Make the installer executable if you have not already done so:
chmod +x serverinstall_102_6559- Run it from the current directory:
./serverinstall_102_6559The repository documents the generic form below when the installer is named serverinstaller:
./serverinstaller -pack <pack_id> -version <version_id>For this pack and release, substitute 102 and 6559 for the two values. Keep the angle-bracket notation out of the command you actually execute; it represents a placeholder in the generic syntax.
If macOS blocks execution
A downloaded executable can be blocked by macOS security controls. First confirm that the file is in the intended directory and has execute permission. If the operating system displays a security warning, use the system’s normal approval flow for software you intentionally downloaded from the official FTB page. Do not disable system protections globally just to run the installer.
Let extraction finish
Leave the terminal open while the installer downloads and extracts files. Interrupting it can leave a partial installation that looks complete but is missing libraries or configuration. Re-running the same pinned installer in the same directory allows its validation behavior to identify files that need to be completed or replaced.

Java 17: automatic download or managed installation
Use the installer’s Java handling
The official guide says the installer can download the correct Java version. This is the simplest path when the host does not already have a known-good Java 17 installation: allow the installer to provide the runtime it expects, then use the generated startup script.
Manage Java yourself with -no-java
The command-line installer provides a -no-java option for operators who manage Java independently. Use that option only when Java 17 is already installed and the server script can find it. A system may contain several Java versions; having Java installed is not enough if the startup script resolves Java 8, Java 11 or another incompatible runtime.

Before choosing -no-java, verify the runtime selected by your operating system and ensure it reports version 17. If the server exits immediately with a Java-version error, remove the ambiguity first: either point the startup script at Java 17 or reinstall without -no-java so the FTB installer can supply its runtime.
Start the server and complete the EULA prompt
- Open the server directory after installation.
- Start the generated server script. On Windows this is normally
run.bat; on other systems use the generated executable or script supplied by the installer. - Read the console output while the first startup creates files and performs initialization.
- When the generated EULA prompt appears, follow its instructions and record the acceptance in the manner requested by the server.
- Start the script again after the EULA requirement has been completed.
- Wait for the console to indicate that the server has finished starting before attempting a client connection.
The first launch can take longer than subsequent launches because the server is creating its world and runtime data. Keep the console visible until you see a clear startup completion message; closing the window during extraction or initialization can interrupt the process.
Make every client match the server
Each player should install the same FTB pack release and loader as the server: Legend of the Eyes 1.9.0 (ID 6559), Minecraft 1.19.2 and Fabric. A client on another release may have different mods, configuration files or registries even when the pack name looks identical.
Client-matching checklist
- Pack: FTB Legend of the Eyes.
- Release: 1.9.0, version ID 6559.
- Minecraft: 1.19.2.
- Loader: Fabric.
- No manually added or removed mods unless every connected client and the server are intentionally changed together.
When a player receives a missing-mod, incompatible-version or registry mismatch message, compare these five values before changing server files. Reinstalling the client with the exact release is usually safer than copying individual JARs between installations.
How much RAM should the server use?
Interpret the official figures correctly
FTB lists 4 GB as the minimum and 6 GB as the recommendation. The figures describe the server allocation, not the total physical memory in the machine. The host also needs memory for its operating system, background services, file cache and, if you play on the same computer, the client game.

FTB does not publish a player-count formula that converts RAM directly into a guaranteed number of players. Treat 6 GB as a recommended baseline, then observe actual performance, world-generation load and the other programs running on the host rather than promising a fixed capacity.

Avoid over-allocation
Giving Java every available gigabyte can make the machine less stable. Leave enough physical memory for the operating system and any client running on the same host. If the server begins swapping or the host becomes unresponsive, reduce competing workloads before assuming that adding more server RAM will solve the problem.
Pinning a release versus installing latest
Why pin version 6559
Using pack ID 102 and version ID 6559 records exactly which release the server is meant to run. This helps every player install the same files, makes a future reinstall reproducible and reduces surprises after an update.
When “latest stable” is appropriate
The installer supports selecting the latest stable release when no version is supplied. That option is useful for a new world where you deliberately want current files, but a later release can change mods, configs or requirements. Before allowing an update, record the old ID, back up the server directory and confirm that every player can update their client.
Do not mix release files
Do not run a 1.9.0 server while distributing a different release to players, and do not copy only selected mods from one release into another. Modpacks are tested as a set; partial replacement can create errors that are harder to diagnose than a clean, matching installation.
Updating or repairing an installation
- Stop the server cleanly using the console’s normal shutdown command or procedure.
- Record the current pack and version IDs.
- Copy the complete server directory to a separate backup location before changing files.
- Decide whether the target is a specific release or the latest stable release.
- Run the official installer with the chosen pack and version IDs, using the existing directory only when you intentionally want that installation updated.
- Allow validation and extraction to finish without closing the terminal or command window.
- Start the generated script and inspect the console for errors before allowing players to connect.
- Have every player install the same target release before joining.
If a repair still fails, create a fresh directory and run the pinned installer there. A clean comparison distinguishes a damaged local directory from a problem in the selected release. Keep the old directory untouched until the new one starts successfully and the world data has been deliberately migrated.

The installer will not execute
- Confirm that you downloaded the installer for the correct operating system.
- Check that its filename has not been changed.
- On macOS/Linux, run
chmod +xand launch it with./. - Make sure the directory is writable and that security software has not quarantined the file.
The installer downloads files but extraction stops
- Check available disk space and write permissions.
- Do not interrupt the process; rerun the same pinned installer after the failed attempt.
- Use the installer’s validation behavior to identify incomplete files.
- If the directory remains inconsistent, start in a new empty directory rather than deleting unknown files at random.
The server reports a Java problem
- Use Java 17, not an older runtime selected by the system.
- If you used
-no-java, confirm that the startup script resolves your Java 17 installation. - Otherwise rerun the installer without
-no-javaand let it download the expected Java version.
The server starts and then stops at the EULA stage
Read the console’s generated instructions and complete the EULA step exactly as requested, then start the script again. The server will not accept players until that requirement has been satisfied.

A player cannot join because of mismatched files
Compare the client and server pack release, Minecraft version and loader. For the documented setup, all three should be 1.9.0 (ID 6559), Minecraft 1.19.2 and Fabric. Remove unauthorized client-side changes and reinstall the exact pack release if necessary.

- Confirm that the allocation is not below the 4 GB minimum.
- Move to the recommended 6 GB allocation when the host has enough additional physical memory.
- Close competing applications, especially a client running on the same machine.
- Watch whether the problem appears during world generation or only when several players are active; FTB does not publish a universal player-count formula.
Self-hosting versus managed hosting
Self-hosting gives you direct control of the directory, startup script, release ID and update timing. It also leaves RAM planning, operating-system maintenance, network exposure and troubleshooting with you. A managed provider can reduce server administration, but you trade some direct control for the provider’s panel, policies and support model.

FTB’s hosting page names BisectHosting as a managed option and describes 24/7/365 support, more than 2,000 Minecraft modpacks and hosting for over 70 games. Those are vendor-page claims, not an independent service-level comparison. Confirm current partner status, supported geography, pricing and whether release 1.9.0 can be pinned before committing.
Network access: what this guide can and cannot prescribe
The official FTB installation pages explain downloading, extracting and starting the server, but they do not provide one router-port-forwarding or firewall command that applies to every host. Public access depends on your operating system, router, internet service, address type and security policy.
For a private test, keep access limited to the local network or the hosting method you already understand. For an internet-facing server, identify the listening port used by the generated configuration, allow only the required traffic, and protect the host account. Consult documentation for your specific router and operating system rather than applying a generic command copied from an unrelated setup. Never expose administrative services unnecessarily.
