To host All the Mods 7 – To the Sky (ATM7 Sky), install the matching Minecraft 1.18.2 server pack, use the Java runtime required by that pack, allocate at least 6 GB of server memory without exhausting the machine, accept the EULA, and make the server reachable through your firewall and router. Every player must run the same ATM7 Sky release, loader, and configuration.
The most recently documented CurseForge release is ATM7 Sky 1.2.3, published April 18, 2023, with a corresponding server-1.2.3 download. The instructions below cover a Windows or Linux home server and a managed host.

What you are hosting
All the Mods 7 – To the Sky is an ATMTeam skyblock modpack for Minecraft 1.18.2. Its progression begins with a single tree and expands through technology and magic, including Twilight Forest, Alchemistry, and the Ex Machinis automation add-on. The project page displayed 2,144,717 downloads in 2023, indicating a substantial player community, but download volume does not change the server requirements.
ATM7 Sky is not the same file set as the regular All the Mods 7 pack. A regular ATM7 server, a different ATM7 Sky release, or a client with extra or missing mods can fail to connect or create a mismatched world. Treat the Minecraft version, modpack release, loader, and configuration as one locked bundle.

Decide where the server will run
You have two practical choices: operate the server on hardware you control, or rent a managed modded-Minecraft instance. The pack files and startup process are broadly the same; the difference is who handles the machine, network, and routine maintenance.
Home or dedicated-machine hosting
- You control the world files, Java installation, backups, logs, JVM options, and mod configuration.
- You need a machine that can remain on, enough free memory, operating-system updates, firewall rules, router port forwarding, and your own monitoring.
- Your internet connection must provide a reachable public address. Carrier-grade NAT or an ISP policy that blocks inbound connections can prevent direct hosting even when the server is configured correctly.
- Power interruptions, a sleeping computer, or a changing public IP can make the server unavailable.
Managed modded-Minecraft hosting
- The provider supplies an always-on machine and normally handles the public network endpoint, basic panel controls, and hardware operations.
- You may upload the extracted server files through FTP, SFTP, or a web file manager when the provider has no one-click ATM7 Sky installer.
- Confirm that the provider supports Minecraft 1.18.2, the required Forge or NeoForge loader, custom modpacks, and at least 6 GB of usable RAM before paying.
- Provider pricing, locations, backups, and supported loaders change, so treat advertised tiers as examples rather than permanent specifications.
Example hosted tiers
A CurseForge hosted-server workflow documents five stages: choose the modpack, choose a plan, choose a region, enter server details, and pay. Its example tiers list Iron at $12 per month with 4 GB RAM for 1–5 players and Gold at $24 per month with 8 GB RAM for 6–15 players, plus a higher tier. The 4 GB example is below the AllTheMods guide’s minimum of 6 GB for a dedicated server, so do not select it for ATM7 Sky solely because the player range appears suitable. Confirm current ATM7 Sky support and the actual memory allocation at checkout.
Requirements before downloading
Hardware and operating system
- Use a 64-bit Windows or Linux system with a modern multi-core CPU and solid-state storage if possible. The pack’s large mod set makes fast disk access useful during startup, chunk generation, and backups.
- Reserve at least 6 GB of RAM for the server process. Keep additional memory for the operating system, Java overhead, file cache, backups, and any other services. Never assign all physical RAM to Minecraft.
- Use a wired network connection for a home server when practical. Wi-Fi interruptions can look like server crashes to players even when Java is healthy.
- Provide enough disk space for the extracted pack, libraries, logs, player data, backups, and the growing world. Keep backups on a different disk or machine so a failed drive does not destroy both copies.
Software and access
- Have administrator access to install Java, extract archives, create firewall rules, and configure the router.
- Have the exact ATM7 Sky release selected before downloading. Do not let individual players choose different “latest” versions.
- Know whether your host expects a supplied startup script, a custom JAR, or a loader installer. The correct method depends on the host panel and the server archive.
Step 1: Lock the pack version
Write down the values you will use: Minecraft 1.18.2, ATM7 Sky 1.2.3, and the loader and configuration shipped with that release. Install that same profile in the launcher used by every player. If you intentionally choose another ATM7 Sky release, replace every occurrence of 1.2.3 in this guide with that release and download its matching server archive.
Do not combine files from regular ATM7 with ATM7 Sky. Keep the server archive and client profile from the same release family. Before any later update, make a complete copy of the world and configuration directories.

Step 2: Download and extract the official server pack
- Open the ATM7 Sky project on CurseForge and select the exact release you intend to run.
- Open that file’s details and use the additional-files area to download the corresponding server files. For the documented release, the archive is named
server-1.2.3. - Create a dedicated, clean server directory such as
ATM7-Sky-Server. Do not extract over an existing regular ATM7 installation. - Extract the entire archive into that directory, preserving its folder structure and startup files.
- If files disappear, extraction reports corruption, or the server later reports missing libraries, temporarily exclude this server directory from third-party antivirus scanning, extract the archive again, and then restore a security policy that still protects the rest of the machine.
Do not download individual mods to “complete” the pack unless the pack documentation specifically instructs you to do so. A missing or newer dependency can change registry data and prevent clients from joining.
Step 3: Install and verify Java
Install the Java version required by the ATM7 Sky release and its Minecraft 1.18.2 loader. The AllTheMods server guide warns that machines with multiple Java installations can run the wrong executable when a script calls the system default. The important check is the Java binary that actually launches this server, not merely the version installed somewhere on the computer.
- Open a terminal or command prompt in the server environment.
- Run
java -versionand record the reported version. - Compare that output with the Java requirement stated by the pack’s startup instructions or loader documentation.
- If the output is wrong, configure the startup script to call the required Java executable by its full path, or change the host panel’s Java selector.
- Run the supplied startup script again and keep the first successful version check in your deployment notes.
Do not assume that changing the operating system’s global PATH changed the Java used by a scheduled task, hosting panel, service account, or batch file. When a server exits immediately, explicitly invoke the known-good Java executable and compare its -version output with the pack requirement.
Step 4: Configure memory and the loader
Memory allocation
Allocate at least 6 GB of server RAM, then leave headroom for the operating system and other services. A machine with 16 GB of physical RAM might reserve 6–8 GB for ATM7 Sky and leave the remainder available; the exact safe value depends on what else is running and how many players, chunks, and automation systems are active. Do not treat 6 GB as a guarantee of a particular player count.

The general AllTheMods guide lists 8–12 GB as a recommended maximum for client instances. That is client guidance, not a command to assign 12 GB to a server. Server memory should be selected from the machine’s total capacity and workload, with operating-system headroom preserved.
Loader installation
Use the NeoForge or Forge installer supplied or supported by the host and pack. If the host offers an installer, let it create the loader files in the clean server directory. If the provider asks for a custom JAR instead, use its supported loader installer or the ServerStarter procedure documented by AllTheMods rather than renaming an arbitrary library JAR.

Read the script before editing it so you do not remove a required argument or point it at the wrong directory.
Step 5: Accept the EULA and perform the first launch
- Run the supplied Windows or Linux start script once. The first run normally creates the EULA file and initial configuration, then stops because the agreement has not been accepted.
- Open
eula.txtin the server directory and review Mojang’s EULA. - If you agree to its terms, change the setting to
eula=true. Do not add quotes or alter the key name. - Start the same script again and watch the console until the server reports that it is ready for connections.
- Stop the server from its console command rather than closing the terminal window. This allows pending world and player data to be written safely.
On a successful first launch, the directory will contain world data, configuration, logs, loader libraries, and mod files. The exact filenames vary by pack release and loader; do not delete unfamiliar files merely because they are not in a tutorial screenshot.

Step 6: Make a home server reachable
Firewall
Create an inbound firewall rule allowing the server’s listening port and the Java executable or service that runs it. Apply the rule only to the network profiles you understand, and keep the operating system firewall enabled. Check the server log for the actual bind address and port instead of assuming a value from another Minecraft installation.
Router port forwarding
- Give the server computer a stable address on your local network, preferably through a DHCP reservation.
- Create a router port-forwarding rule from the chosen external port to the server computer’s listening port and local address.
- Save the rule, restart the server, and test from a different network, such as a phone hotspot. Testing from inside the same LAN can produce misleading results when the router lacks NAT loopback.
- Give players the public address and port shown by your configuration. Do not publish your private LAN address as if it were reachable from the internet.
If your ISP uses carrier-grade NAT, inbound forwarding may not work even with correct router settings. In that situation, use a provider with a public endpoint or an approved network solution rather than repeatedly changing Minecraft files.
Step 7: Upload to a managed host
- Create the server instance with a plan that meets the 6 GB minimum and supports the pack’s Minecraft and loader versions.
- Stop any default server created by the panel before uploading files. A panel-generated vanilla world can conflict with the modpack’s directory.
- Upload the extracted server directory through FTP, SFTP, or the provider’s file manager. Preserve permissions and subdirectories.
- Set the panel’s Java version and memory values, then choose the supported custom-JAR, Forge, NeoForge, or ServerStarter option required by that provider.
- Set the startup file to the script supplied with the pack when the panel supports scripts. Otherwise follow the host’s documented custom-JAR procedure.
- Start the instance, accept the EULA in the uploaded
eula.txt, and inspect the console for loader errors, missing files, or an incorrect Java version.
Managed hosting removes much of the hardware and port-forwarding work, but it does not make version mismatches harmless. You remain responsible for choosing the correct pack release, preserving backups, and checking that the provider’s automated updates do not replace your configuration.

Every player should install the same ATM7 Sky release, Minecraft version, loader, and configuration files used by the server. For this documented setup, that means Minecraft 1.18.2 and ATM7 Sky 1.2.3. A client with a different mod list may show a missing-mod, channel, registry, or protocol error before joining.

- Distribute the exact release name to players instead of saying “install ATM7 Sky.”
- Ask players to remove old ATM7 profiles when the launcher might select a different instance directory.
- Do not let players add performance, shader, or gameplay mods to the shared profile until you have verified that the server and all clients remain compatible.
- When a player cannot connect, compare the client’s loader and pack version first, then read the server log before changing files.
Backups, updates, and routine operation
Back up before every change
Stop the server cleanly, copy the world and configuration data, and store the copy away from the live directory before updating the pack, loader, Java runtime, or mods. Keep multiple dated generations so a newly discovered corruption is not copied over every backup. Test that an archive can actually be opened; a backup that was never verified is only an assumption.

Updating the pack
- Choose the target ATM7 Sky release and confirm that it has a matching server archive.
- Read the release notes for migration requirements and loader changes.
- Stop the current server and make a complete backup.
- Build a separate test directory with the new server files rather than overwriting the live directory.
- Start the test copy, allow it to complete its data conversion, and check the console for missing mods or world errors.
- Only after the test succeeds, schedule downtime, replace the live files as directed by the release notes, and retain the old backup.
Never mix the regular ATM7 files, an older ATM7 Sky configuration, and a newer ATM7 Sky mod directory in one installation. World data can depend on registries supplied by the exact mod set that created it.
Monitor the server
- Watch startup and shutdown logs after Java, loader, or pack changes.
- Use the script’s restart behavior carefully; an automatic restart loop can hide a configuration error and fill the disk with logs.
- Check free disk space, backup age, and the machine’s memory pressure periodically.
- Restrict administrative access to trusted users and avoid exposing file-manager credentials in chat.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The server exits immediately
Run the required Java executable explicitly and compare its java -version output with the pack’s Minecraft requirement. Check that the script is being run from the extracted server directory, that the loader files were created, and that the EULA setting is present. If several Java versions are installed, correct the script or panel selector rather than repeatedly reinstalling mods.
Files are missing after extraction
Third-party antivirus may quarantine libraries or interrupt extraction. Temporarily exclude the server directory, extract the original archive again, and inspect the antivirus history. If the archive itself is damaged, download the matching server file again. Do not copy random files from another ATM7 installation.
A host requests a custom JAR
Use the host’s supported NeoForge or Forge installer, or the ServerStarter approach documented by AllTheMods. Ask the provider which startup filename and Java arguments its panel accepts. A custom-JAR field does not mean that any JAR renamed to the requested filename will work.
Clients cannot join
- Compare the client and server’s exact ATM7 Sky release and Minecraft version.
- Compare the loader and configuration files.
- Confirm that the server is fully started rather than still generating libraries or a world.
- Check the operating-system firewall and router forwarding rule.
- Read the server log and the client’s error report for the first missing mod, channel, registry, or authentication error.
- Restore the last known-good backup if the problem began immediately after an update.
Players time out or are disconnected
Verify that the public address points to the current home connection, that the router still forwards to the server’s local address, and that the host has not changed the allocated port. A sleeping computer, ISP address change, overloaded machine, or unstable Wi-Fi path can appear as a modpack fault even when the files match.
Self-hosting or managed hosting: a practical choice

Choose self-hosting when you already have reliable hardware, can configure inbound networking, and are comfortable reading Java and loader logs. Choose managed hosting when port forwarding, uptime, or machine maintenance is the larger obstacle. In either case, select at least 6 GB of usable server memory and verify support for the exact ATM7 Sky release before moving a world.
