To host VitalityCraft – Vanilla Essentials, download the serverpack that matches your client’s Minecraft release, run it with a compatible Java runtime, accept the Minecraft EULA, configure server.properties, and open the server to your players through the firewall and router. The currently indexed pack is a NeoForge serverpack, not a Bukkit, Spigot, or Paper installation.
The exact release matters. CurseForge lists VitalityCraft Serverpack MC 26.1.2-2.5.0 as a 207.5 MB NeoForge package uploaded October 1, 2026, and also lists a 26.2-1.0.0 NeoForge serverpack. Keep the Minecraft version, NeoForge version, modpack version, client files, and serverpack contents aligned.

VitalityCraft – Vanilla Essentials is a CurseForge Vanilla+ modpack by WizardStudios. Its focus is a familiar Minecraft experience expanded with foundational mods, additional biomes, mobs and objects, and performance improvements. Multiplayer is an intended use case, so the project provides a dedicated serverpack rather than requiring you to reconstruct the client’s mods by hand.
CurseForge reports 116,020 total downloads for the project in 2026. That figure indicates the pack has a substantial user base, but it is not a capacity guarantee for your server. The serverpack itself is a 207.5 MB download; the extracted installation will require more disk space for libraries, configuration, logs and world data.

Choose one exact release before installing
Every participant must use a compatible client release, and the server must use the matching serverpack. Do not combine files from different Minecraft version lines unless WizardStudios explicitly documents that combination.

Write down the selected Minecraft version, NeoForge version, pack version and download date. This small inventory makes later troubleshooting and upgrades much easier.
What you need
- A computer or managed Minecraft host that can keep a Java process running while players are online.
- The matching VitalityCraft NeoForge serverpack, downloaded from the pack’s CurseForge file listing.
- A compatible Java runtime. Minecraft’s official server guidance states that Java Edition server software requires compatible Java.
- Permission to create files, run scripts and open a listening port on the host.
- Router and firewall access if people outside your local network will connect.
- A backup destination separate from the live world directory.
No authoritative source gives VitalityCraft-specific minimum RAM, CPU, storage or concurrent-player figures. Treat those as capacity decisions, not published guarantees. Start with resources appropriate for your intended group, monitor the server under real play, and increase resources if the console reports stalls or the operating system begins swapping.
Install the serverpack
- Create a dedicated directory. Use a path reserved for this server, such as
VitalityCraft-Server. Avoid placing it inside a client instance or a directory synchronized by consumer cloud-storage software. - Download the matching serverpack. Select the file for the same Minecraft line your players will install. For the currently indexed release, that is
VitalityCraft Serverpack MC 26.1.2-2.5.0.zip. - Extract the archive without flattening it. Preserve the supplied folders, libraries, configuration files and launch scripts. A common mistake is opening the ZIP and copying only a few visible JAR files; the pack’s structure and scripts may be required.
- Check the supplied launch files. On Windows this may be a batch file; on Linux or macOS it may be a shell script. If the archive includes a NeoForge installer or a first-run library setup, use the supplied process rather than substituting a generic vanilla command.
- Install Java and confirm it runs. Open a terminal in the server directory and run your platform’s Java version command. If the launch script reports an unsupported class version, an unavailable Java executable or a missing runtime, correct Java before changing pack files.
Minecraft’s official server software is free to download, but the official guidance applies to Java Edition. A Bedrock client cannot join this Java/NeoForge server simply because both games are called Minecraft.
Complete the first launch and accept the EULA
Run the serverpack’s supplied launch script or command once. The first run can generate eula.txt, server.properties, NeoForge libraries, configuration folders and a world directory. Let that process finish; closing the console halfway through can leave an incomplete installation that looks like a mod or Java failure.
- Stop the process after it has generated the initial files, if it does not stop automatically.
- Open
eula.txtand read the Minecraft EULA. - If you agree to it, change
eula=falsetoeula=true. - Save the file without adding quotation marks or changing the property name.
- Run the same supplied launch command again.
Minecraft’s official setup instructions require this explicit EULA change before the server will continue starting. If the file changes back to false, check that you edited the copy in the active server directory and that the account running the server can write to it.

Configure server.properties
Stop the server before editing configuration. Keep an original backup so you can recover from a typographical error or an unwanted setting change. The exact property names depend on the Minecraft release, but these are the decisions most private groups need to make:

Do not copy a random server.properties file from another Minecraft version. Unknown or obsolete properties may be ignored, while a misspelled value can silently leave the default in effect.
Start the server and verify a complete boot
Run the supplied command again after configuration. Watch the console rather than assuming that an open window means the server is ready. A successful boot should proceed through mod loading and world initialization and then remain running, waiting for connections.
- Confirm that NeoForge loads without a missing-mod or dependency error.
- Confirm that the selected Minecraft and pack versions are shown in the startup output.
- Check that the world is created or opened without a repeated crash loop.
- Join locally first, if possible, before publishing the address to remote players.
- Stop the server with its console stop command rather than killing the process, so world data can be saved cleanly.
If the console stops at an error, capture the complete first error and the surrounding lines. Repeatedly restarting without reading the first failure often produces secondary errors that obscure the cause.

Make it reachable from outside your home
Players on the same local network may be able to connect using the host’s private address. Players elsewhere normally need the host’s public address and a forwarded port. Minecraft’s official setup guidance identifies 25565 as the default Java server port and explains that outside connections may require port forwarding.
- Allow the Java process through the host firewall. Create an inbound rule for the server’s TCP port, or for the Java executable when your operating system presents that choice. Restrict the rule to the required network profile where possible.
- Give the host a stable local address. A DHCP reservation on the router prevents a reboot from assigning a different private address and breaking the forwarding rule.
- Forward the port in the router. Forward external port 25565 to the host’s private IP and the same internal port, unless you deliberately configured another port in
server.properties. - Check upstream limitations. Carrier-grade NAT, apartment networks and some internet providers do not permit inbound forwarding. In those cases, a managed host or a private networking solution may be necessary.
- Test from a different network. Use a phone hotspot or ask a remote player to test. Testing only from inside the same LAN can succeed even when the public route is broken.
Give players the public address only after the server is ready. If you use a non-default port, provide it in the form address:port. Never publish your router administration credentials or unrelated services alongside the Minecraft address.

Whitelist and basic operational security
A private server should use the whitelist rather than relying on an obscure address. Add players by their in-game names through the console or the server’s supported administration command, then verify the list after a restart.
- Keep the operating system and Java runtime patched through your normal update process.
- Run the server under a separate operating-system account when practical, with only the permissions it needs.
- Do not grant operator status as a substitute for troubleshooting. Give it only to trusted administrators.
- Keep the server directory out of public file-sharing folders.
- Back up the world, player data, configuration and pack-specific settings on a schedule that matches how much progress the group can afford to lose.
Backups, updates and version changes
Back up before every meaningful change
Stop the server cleanly before copying the world. Include the world directory, server.properties, whitelist and operator files, NeoForge configuration, and any pack-specific configuration that players have tuned. Keep at least one copy on another disk or machine; a second copy in the same failed drive does not protect the server.

Update as a controlled migration
When a new VitalityCraft or Minecraft line appears, download its matching serverpack into a new directory. Do not overwrite the working installation first. Copy only the data you intentionally migrate, such as a backed-up world, after checking the release notes and confirming that the new NeoForge loader supports the pack.
For example, the listing contains both a 26.1.2 serverpack and a 26.2 serverpack. A 26.1.2 client and a 26.2 server are not an assumed-compatible pair. Have every player update their client in the same maintenance window, and retain the old directory until the new server has been tested.
How much RAM and CPU do you need?
No published VitalityCraft source establishes a tested minimum or a guaranteed player capacity. That means a precise number would be misleading. Resource use depends on the number of players, loaded chunks, view and simulation distances, world activity, other processes on the machine and the behavior of the included mods.
Use an observation-based sizing process:
- Start with a host that has free memory beyond the operating system and Java process, rather than assigning every available byte to Minecraft.
- Run the exact pack with the largest number of players you expect during a normal session.
- Watch for tick-time warnings, pauses during chunk generation, operating-system swapping, rising garbage-collection pauses and sustained CPU saturation.
- Reduce view or simulation distance and investigate problematic areas before simply adding hardware.
- Increase memory or move to a stronger host only when measurements show that the current machine is the bottleneck.
Do not advertise a player limit based solely on the 207.5 MB download size. Archive size measures files transferred, not the memory needed to run a live world.

Self-hosting versus managed Minecraft server hosting
Self-hosting is appropriate when you control the network and want full access to files. Managed hosting can be simpler when you need a control panel, automated restarts or assistance with networking, but you must verify that the host supports the exact NeoForge and Minecraft release you selected.

The pack’s dedicated serverpack makes either route possible. On a managed host, upload or import the serverpack exactly as supplied and check the startup command instead of replacing it with a vanilla-only template.

“Vanilla Essentials” is the name of the VitalityCraft pack; it does not mean the Bukkit EssentialsX plugin is part of the server architecture. EssentialsX documents support for CraftBukkit, Spigot and Paper. Its documentation directs operators of modded Forge, NeoForge or Fabric servers toward FTB Essentials instead.
Do not install a Bukkit plugin JAR into this NeoForge server and expect it to provide commands. First use the mods and configuration shipped in the VitalityCraft serverpack. If you need additional functionality, verify all of the following before adding it:
- It explicitly supports the exact Minecraft release.
- It explicitly supports the exact NeoForge release.
- Its dependencies are available for that loader.
- It does not duplicate a feature already supplied by VitalityCraft.
- You have a restorable backup and a test copy of the world.
Adding one mod at a time makes conflicts identifiable. If a new mod causes a crash, remove it from the test installation first; do not delete unrelated configuration or world files while trying to recover.
Troubleshooting the common failures
The server exits immediately
Read the first error, then verify Java compatibility, file permissions and the supplied launch command. A Java class-version error points to the runtime; a missing-library error usually means the first-run installer or extraction was incomplete.

Players receive a version or mod mismatch
Compare the client’s Minecraft version, NeoForge version and VitalityCraft pack release with the server’s. Reinstalling only one side with a different release does not solve a three-way mismatch. Have all players use the same pack profile.
The server works locally but not remotely
Check the host firewall, the router’s forwarding destination, the configured port and whether the internet connection uses carrier-grade NAT. Test from a genuinely different network; a local test cannot validate the public route.

The world lags when players explore
Check CPU and memory pressure, then lower view or simulation distance and avoid running other heavy processes on the host. Generate or explore new terrain with fewer simultaneous players while you identify whether chunk generation is the trigger.
The server loses progress after a crash
Restore the most recent known-good backup, inspect the shutdown or crash logs, and correct the underlying issue before reopening the world. Establish scheduled backups and use the normal stop command for routine maintenance.
Connection checklist for your first session
- Every player installed the same VitalityCraft client release as the serverpack.
- The server starts fully with the supplied NeoForge command.
eula.txtcontains the agreed setting.- The server name, game mode, difficulty and distances match the group’s plan.
- The whitelist contains only intended players.
- At least one player tested a connection from outside the host’s local network.
- A clean backup exists before the first substantial build or exploration session.
Once those checks pass, keep the server directory, release notes and backup schedule together. That record is more valuable than a guessed hardware requirement when you later expand the group or move to a managed host.
