Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
To host TNP Limitless 8 reliably, deploy the matching LL8 server-files release, run it with 64-bit Java 21, provide sufficient memory, and require every player to use the identical Minecraft, NeoForge, modpack, and mod versions. You can run the server on your own machine or VPS for maximum control, or use a managed Minecraft host for simpler installation and networking.
What TNP Limitless 8 requires
TNP Limitless 8 (LL8) is a large modpack for Minecraft 1.21.1 running on NeoForge. The official project description lists about 880 mods, 36 quest chapters, and approximately 2,245 quests. That scale is why an LL8 server needs substantially more memory and administration than a small vanilla or lightly modded server.

The pack author, Gbergz, states that 8 GB is the minimum memory needed to boot and recommends allocating 12 GB or more. The minimum is not a comfort target: a server that starts with 8 GB can still run out of memory when players explore, generate new chunks, or add compatible content.
The project page also says the launcher should use Java 21. Use a 64-bit Java 21 runtime on the server and on every client. LL8 server files are distributed separately from the client profile, so download the server artifact for the exact release you intend to run.

Choose self-hosting or a managed host
Self-hosting means you install and maintain the server on a computer you control, a home machine, or a virtual private server. It gives you direct access to files, configuration, logs, backups, and custom mods, but you are responsible for Java, updates, firewall rules, router configuration, uptime, and recovery.
A managed host installs the pack through a control panel and usually supplies public networking, monitored hardware, and support. You pay a recurring fee and accept the host’s limits on locations, file access, upgrade timing, and available settings. Review the cancellation, backup, support, and resource policies before committing.
| Decision factor | Self-hosted server | Managed server |
|---|---|---|
| Cost model | Existing hardware or VPS cost, plus electricity or infrastructure | Recurring hosting charge; plan prices and availability vary |
| Control | Full access to server files, launch arguments, mods, and configuration | Usually panel, SFTP/FTP, and permitted configuration access |
| Networking | You configure firewall, router, DNS, and upstream bandwidth | Provider normally supplies a reachable endpoint and network controls |
| Backups | You design, retain, and test your own restore points | Depends on the plan; verify frequency, retention, and restore procedure |
| Protection | You handle operating-system updates and attack mitigation | Some providers advertise DDoS protection and managed infrastructure |
| Scaling | Change hardware or VPS resources yourself | Upgrade to a larger RAM/CPU plan if available |
| Support | Self-diagnosis through logs and documentation | Support quality and response times differ by provider |
Plan RAM, CPU, storage, and bandwidth
Use the published memory figures as starting points
The following ranges combine the pack author’s requirements with provider guidance. Provider ranges are not independent benchmarks; actual usage depends on simulation distance, exploration, world generation, player behavior, extra mods, and server settings.
| Concurrent players | Published provider guidance | Practical interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| 1–5 | 6–8 GB | Use at least 8 GB because LL8’s author calls that the boot minimum. Leave additional headroom whenever possible. |
| 5–15 | 10–12 GB | 12 GB is a sensible starting allocation for a lightly customized server. |
| 15+ | 12–16 GB | Monitor real usage and plan for more memory if players explore simultaneously, generate chunks, or install additional compatible mods. |
Do not allocate every gigabyte on a host to Java. Leave memory for the operating system, filesystem cache, monitoring, and any panel or backup process. On a machine with 16 GB total RAM, assigning 16 GB to the JVM can make the whole system unstable. A 12 GB Java allocation on a 16 GB host is often a safer starting point than consuming all available memory.
CPU and storage matter during world generation
LL8 benefits from a modern CPU with strong single-thread performance because many game-tick tasks are not perfectly parallel. More cores help with operating-system work and some mod tasks, but adding cores does not eliminate tick-time spikes caused by a single busy dimension or machine network.

Use SSD or NVMe storage rather than a mechanical disk. Modded worlds constantly read region files, player data, structures, and configuration data. Fast storage reduces save and chunk-load delays, especially when several players travel in different directions.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Upload speed and latency determine how responsive the server feels to players outside your network. A home connection with limited upload capacity can become the bottleneck even when the computer has enough RAM. Keep the server close to the majority of players when choosing a VPS or managed-host location.
Install the LL8 server pack
- Select one exact release. Open the TNP Limitless 8 project on CurseForge and download the matching LL8 server-files artifact. Record the release number. Never combine server files from one release with a client profile from another.
- Install 64-bit Java 21. Install a 64-bit Java 21 runtime for the server operating system. In a terminal, run
java -versionand confirm that the reported major version is 21. If several Java versions are installed, make the launch script call the Java 21 executable explicitly rather than relying on the system default. - Create a dedicated directory. Make a folder used only by this server, such as
ll8-server. Avoid placing it inside a temporary downloads directory or a client instance folder. Give the account that runs Minecraft read, write, and execute access to this directory. - Extract the archive. Unpack every file from the server-files download into the dedicated directory. Preserve the supplied folder structure, libraries, configuration files, mods, and launch scripts.
- Set the memory in the supplied launch method. Use the start script or command included with the release. If the script exposes JVM values such as
-Xmsand-Xmx, set them to a value your machine can sustain; for example, a 12 GB allocation is written as-Xmx12G. Do not copy a value larger than the host’s available memory. - Start once for initialization. Run the supplied script on Windows or Linux. Typical files are a Windows batch script or a Unix shell script, but the filename and arguments vary by release. The first run may create libraries, configuration files, logs, and the world directory.
- Accept the EULA. When the process stops and creates
eula.txt, read the Minecraft EULA and change the file’s setting toeula=trueonly if you agree to it. Start the server again and watch the console for a completed startup message. - Stop cleanly before editing. Use the console’s
stopcommand rather than closing the terminal or killing the process. A clean stop flushes world data and reduces the chance of corrupting region files.
Keep the original archive and the release number beside your installation notes. That makes it possible to identify exactly which files were deployed if a later update causes a problem.
Configure access without exposing an unfinished server
Home network
On a home connection, allow the Java server process through the operating-system firewall and forward the server’s configured game port from the router to the host machine. The port must be forwarded to the correct private IP address; reserve that address in the router or configure a static address so it does not change after a reboot.
Give friends the public address only after authentication, backups, and operator permissions are configured. Do not publish the address in a public forum if the server is intended for a private group. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary port forwarding may not work; use a VPS, a provider-supported tunnel, or another network arrangement that gives players a reachable endpoint.

- Includes JEDEC default profile, and AMD EXPO & Intel XMP 3.0 memory overclock profile
- Do not mix memory kits. Memory kits are sold in matched kits that are designed to run together as a set. Mixing memory kits will result in stability issues or system failure.
VPS or managed infrastructure
Restrict SSH, panel, SFTP, and FTP access to trusted administrators. Use unique passwords or keys, enable multi-factor authentication where offered, and apply operating-system security updates. A game port being reachable does not require administrative ports to be exposed to the entire internet.
Install the client pack for every player
- Install a launcher that supports the TNP Limitless 8 pack, such as the CurseForge launcher or another compatible launcher.
- Select the same LL8 release used by the server, not merely a profile with a similar name.
- Confirm Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, and Java 21 are selected for that instance.
- Let the launcher download the complete mod list and dependencies. Do not remove client or server mods unless the pack documentation for that release says they are optional.
- Connect using the server address only after the instance launches successfully in single-player or reaches the multiplayer screen without loader errors.
Every player should keep the pack unmodified until the group has a stable baseline. A manually added shader, library, performance mod, or configuration change can produce a mismatch even when the visible pack version appears identical.
Troubleshoot connection and startup failures in the right order
When a player cannot join, compare versions before changing RAM or network settings. Most first-connection failures are mismatches rather than insufficient hardware.
| Symptom | Checks | Correction |
|---|---|---|
| Incompatible mod list or missing mods | Compare the exact LL8 release and the contents of both mods folders. |
Reinstall the matching client or restore the server’s original files; remove manually added or removed mods. |
| Protocol or loader error | Check Minecraft 1.21.1 and the NeoForge version selected by both sides. | Use the loader and game version bundled or specified by the same LL8 release. |
| Java launch error | Run java -version in the same environment used by the script. |
Point the script or service to a 64-bit Java 21 executable. |
| Server starts, then stops with memory errors | Review the console and latest.log; check the JVM maximum and total host RAM. |
Stop other workloads, increase the allocation within the host’s capacity, or move to a larger machine. Do not simply assign all physical RAM to Java. |
| Local players connect but remote players cannot | Check the server’s listening address, firewall rule, router forwarding, public IP, and carrier-grade NAT. | Correct the forwarding target or use a reachable VPS or managed endpoint. |
| Severe lag while exploring | Watch tick-time or server timing data while new chunks generate and check storage latency. | Reduce simultaneous exploration, pre-generate cautiously if your administration tools support it, improve storage or CPU, and increase RAM only when logs show memory pressure. |
When requesting help, provide the LL8 release, Minecraft version, NeoForge version, Java version, player count, startup log, and the exact disconnect message. Redact public IP addresses, passwords, tokens, and private filesystem paths.
Backups, updates, and routine administration
Build a restorable backup routine
- Announce a maintenance window and ask players to log out.
- Run the console
save-allcommand, then stop the server cleanly. - Copy the world directory, server configuration, and any custom scripts to storage separate from the live instance.
- Retain multiple dated restore points instead of overwriting one backup.
- Periodically restore a copy to a test directory and confirm that it starts and contains recent player data.
- Start the production server only after the backup job has completed.
Backups on the same disk protect against accidental changes but not disk failure. Keep at least one copy on separate storage, and protect it from unauthorized access because player data and server configuration may contain sensitive information.

- Faster than ever with 5600MHz frequency, new structural composition for better performance.
- Conserve energy with energy-efficient 1.1V working voltage.
- Supports on-die ECC for more stable systems.
- Upgraded capacity for powerful multitasking.
- Lifetime warranty. ※Refer to the latest version on the official website. In case of discrepancies, the official website prevails.
Update deliberately
Before changing LL8, NeoForge, Java, or a mod, record the current release and create a verified backup. Test the new server files in a separate directory when practical. Update the server and all client instances to the same release, then ask players to remove old profiles or launch with the newly installed one. Never overwrite a working installation without a rollback copy.
Use a managed host when convenience outweighs control
Game Host Bros describes a four-step process: order a plan, open its game panel, select Modpacks, search for TNP Limitless 8 – LL8, and click Install. Its retrieved listing advertises a 16 GB starting plan, one-click installation, SFTP/FTP access, and no per-slot charge. These are provider claims and plan details can change, so verify the current allocation, price, location, backup policy, and cancellation terms before ordering.
Dedicated Minecraft Host describes one-click LL8 installation with dedicated CPU and RAM, NVMe storage, and DDoS protection, and publishes memory bands by player count. Treat those specifications as that provider’s claims. Ask whether the advertised RAM is dedicated, how upgrades work, how often backups run, whether restores are self-service, and what support covers when a modpack update fails.

Download or inspect the server logs, retain your own backups, and make sure you can access the files through SFTP or an equivalent method before relying on the service.
Scale the server as usage grows
Start with a measured allocation rather than buying the largest plan blindly. Record peak memory, CPU utilization, tick timing, disk space, and player count during normal play and during exploration. Increase resources when logs and monitoring show sustained pressure, not merely because a player reports one short lag spike.
Exploration is a special workload: several players moving into unexplored terrain can trigger simultaneous chunk generation, disk writes, and entity activity. Agree on exploration windows, use sensible view and simulation distances, and avoid adding untested mods during a busy session. If the world outgrows the disk, expand storage before it reaches full capacity; a nearly full filesystem can prevent saves and backups.
