Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
To host TNP Limitless 5 (LL5), run the Forge server files that match the exact client-pack version your players use, with Java 17 and at least 6 GB of allocated memory. Allocate about 8 GB for a larger group, then accept the Minecraft EULA and start the server from the files included in the server archive.
You can self-host on your own computer or rent a managed Minecraft server. Self-hosting gives you control and avoids a recurring hosting bill, while a managed host handles installation, uptime, networking and backups through a control panel.

TNP Limitless 5, usually abbreviated LL5, is a large Forge modpack for Minecraft: Java Edition. Provider descriptions put its size at roughly 400 to more than 500 mods, depending on the version and how the count is made. That scale affects startup time, memory use, storage and the amount of troubleshooting needed compared with a vanilla server.
The pack is associated primarily with Minecraft 1.18.2. The CurseForge project, a Minecraft Forum thread and MineWonderland identify 1.18.2, and the Modpack Index also describes LL5 as a Forge 1.18.2 pack. One hosting panel lists 1.18.1 instead, so do not rely on a provider’s summary alone. Open the pack’s current manifest or Files tab and use the Minecraft and modpack versions shown there.

Hosting succeeds only when every player uses the same client release as the server. A client on one LL5 file version can fail to connect to a server running another version, even when both appear to be LL5. Treat the version number as part of the server’s identity, not as an optional update.
Choose self-hosting or a managed server
Self-hosting on your own computer
Self-hosting means downloading the LL5 Server Files archive, installing Java, running the included Forge server, and making the server reachable to your players. It is suitable when you can leave a computer online, configure your router and firewall, and handle updates and backups yourself.
- Advantages: no separate hosting subscription, complete access to files and configuration, and freedom to choose the machine and operating system.
- Responsibilities: port forwarding, firewall rules, public-IP or DNS changes, crash recovery, backups, operating-system updates and power or internet outages.
- Hardware expectation: reserve at least 6 GB for the server process; 8 GB is a safer target for a group. The computer also needs memory for the operating system and any other applications.
Managed Minecraft hosting
A managed host runs the machine in a data centre and exposes installation, console, files and backups through a web panel. BisectHosting says its Minecraft selector can install TNP Limitless 5 automatically. ScalaCube instructs customers to add a game server and choose “TNP Limitless 5 – LL5” in the panel. ZAP-Hosting describes an automatically set-up, preconfigured order. Availability and the exact pack release can change, so verify the template’s Minecraft version before paying or importing a world.

- Advantages: simpler installation, a persistent public endpoint, provider-managed hardware and usually easier restart and backup controls.
- Trade-offs: recurring cost, limits imposed by the plan, provider-specific file access and possible delays when a template is updated.
- Check before ordering: the panel must explicitly offer LL5, the listed Minecraft version must match your client, and the plan should provide at least 6 GB of usable server memory.
Verify the pack and server-file version first
Before downloading anything, open the LL5 project in CurseForge and record the Minecraft version and the exact file version you intend to install. The project’s Minecraft 1.18 Server Packs section lists version 2.34.1 as the latest server-file release, with version 2.34.0 dated August 2023. StickyPiston also lists 2.34.1, while the Modpack Index describes the pack as outdated. Those labels are not a substitute for checking the current file list.
A client file page for version 2.20.2 includes a direct LL5 server-files download. That demonstrates why the client release matters: if players install 2.20.2, obtain the server archive associated with 2.20.2 rather than automatically choosing 2.34.1.

Install Java 17
LL5’s CurseForge instructions specify Java 17. The Java 8 guidance belongs to the older TNP Limitless 1 pack for Minecraft 1.14.4, not LL5. Installing Java 8 for LL5 commonly produces an immediate launch failure or a confusing class-version error.
- Install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime on the computer that will run the server.
- Open a terminal or command prompt and run
java -version. - Confirm that the reported major version is 17 and that the command resolves to the intended 64-bit installation.
- If an older Java is selected, correct the system PATH or configure the server start script to use the full path to the Java 17 executable.
The server archive may include its own launch script or instructions for selecting Java. Follow those files after Java 17 is installed; the exact Forge launch command can vary by archive release.

Self-hosting: complete installation procedure
The following process applies to the general LL5 server archive. The exact script names and Forge installer options are release-specific, so use the README and files inside the archive rather than copying a command from a different LL5 release.
- Record the client release. In CurseForge, open the LL5 profile and note the installed pack file version and Minecraft version. Ask every player to use that same profile version.
- Download the matching archive. From the corresponding LL5 file entry, download “LL5 Server Files” for that exact release. Do not mix an archive from one release with a client from another.
- Create a dedicated folder. Extract the archive into a new folder such as an LL5 server directory. Avoid placing it inside the client profile; the server needs its own world, configuration and logs.
- Read the included instructions. Look for a README, Forge installer, start script or launch instructions. The archive determines whether Forge must be installed first or whether the required libraries and scripts are already prepared.
- Set the Java executable. Configure the supplied script, if necessary, to call Java 17. Keep the terminal window open for the first launch so errors remain visible.
- Set memory conservatively. Allocate at least 6 GB to the server process. Reserve about 8 GB when several friends will explore simultaneously. Leave additional memory for the operating system; assigning all physical RAM to Java can make the machine unstable.
- Start the server once. Run the archive’s supplied start script or documented Forge launch command. The first run can take considerably longer because Forge creates libraries, configuration files and the initial world.
- Accept the EULA. When the first launch creates
eula.txt, open it, read the terms and change the EULA setting to accept only if you agree. Save the file and start the server again. - Wait for a ready message. Do not stop the process while mods are still loading. A successful launch normally leaves a running console and creates the world and server configuration directories.
- Configure the world and access settings. Stop the server cleanly before editing
server.propertiesor other configuration files. Set the server name, difficulty, game mode, view distance and whitelist according to your group, then start it again. - Protect administrator access. Add only trusted players as operators, enable a whitelist for a private server, and keep the console and server files away from shared user accounts.
- Test locally first. Connect from the same computer using the local address. Confirm that the pack finishes loading, a world can be created and the console remains free of repeating errors before exposing the server publicly.
- Test from another network. A friend on a different connection should test the public address. A local connection can work even when router forwarding or firewall rules are wrong.
Memory, CPU and storage planning
No official LL5 server-memory figure is published. Hosting providers give different estimates: BisectHosting says 5 GB can run smoothly, StickyPiston recommends a minimum of 6 GB and 7 GB or more for friends or a public server, and ScalaCube lists at least 8 GB. These are provider recommendations rather than a pack-author specification.

Use a modern multi-core CPU with strong single-thread performance, because the main server tick cannot distribute every task evenly across cores. Put the server on SSD storage, especially if players generate many new chunks. Keep free disk space for the world, Forge libraries, logs, backups and temporary files. The client recommendation of 6 to 8 GB or more shown on the CurseForge page applies to the player’s game client, not automatically to the server process.
Networking and firewall checklist
- Give the host computer a stable local address so a router rule does not point to a different device after a reboot.
- Allow the Java executable or the server’s documented port through the operating-system firewall.
- Forward the Minecraft server port from the router to the host computer only when you understand the security implications.
- Share the public address privately; do not publish it alongside operator credentials.
- If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary port forwarding may not work. Use a managed host or a secure private-network solution instead of weakening the firewall.
- Ask players to install the exact same LL5 release before troubleshooting network errors. A mod mismatch can look like a connection problem.
Managed hosting: a practical setup path
- Choose a plan with at least 6 GB of usable memory; select about 8 GB for a group rather than relying on a plan’s total system-memory marketing figure.
- In the provider’s Minecraft game selector or modpack catalog, search for “TNP Limitless 5 – LL5.” Confirm the listed Minecraft and pack versions.
- Install the template, or upload the matching LL5 server archive if the panel does not provide your required release.
- Open the console and wait for Forge to finish its first startup. Accept the EULA in the file manager or console workflow supplied by the host.
- Use the panel’s file manager to set the whitelist, operator list, server name and other properties. Stop the server before changing files.
- Upload an existing world only after making a backup and checking that its modpack version matches the installed server.
- Start the server and test with one player before inviting the whole group.
Templates can lag behind the pack’s current file list. If a panel offers only an older LL5 release, either install that same client release for everyone or select a different host that supports the version you need. Do not update only the server while leaving clients unchanged.

Joining the server and avoiding version mismatches
Each player should install TNP Limitless 5 through the same launcher and select the identical file version and Minecraft version recorded during setup. They should allow the launcher to finish downloading every mod before connecting. The server address is the managed host’s assigned address or your self-hosted public address; the local address is for testing on the host network.
Typical mismatch symptoms include a missing-mod message, a registry or channel error, a disconnect during login, or a client that returns to the multiplayer menu. First compare the displayed pack version, Minecraft version and Forge version on both sides. Reinstalling the client profile from the exact file entry is often faster than manually replacing individual mods.

The server closes immediately
Check java -version and the launch script. LL5 requires Java 17; Java 8 guidance belongs to LL1. Then read the first error in the console rather than the final shutdown line. Confirm that the archive was fully extracted and that the documented Forge installation step was completed.

Out-of-memory errors or severe lag
Move from the 6 GB floor toward 8 GB, reduce simultaneous chunk generation, and check whether the machine is swapping. Keep memory available for the operating system. If the server still lags with free memory, investigate CPU saturation, disk latency, view distance and a runaway mod rather than allocating RAM indefinitely.
Players cannot connect from outside
Test locally, verify the host’s local address, inspect the firewall rule and confirm router forwarding. If local players connect but remote players cannot, the problem is usually routing, firewall policy or carrier-grade NAT rather than Forge. A managed server avoids those home-network constraints.
“Missing mods” or registry errors
Compare the exact LL5 file release on every client and on the server. Do not copy a single mod from another release to “fix” the error; the pack’s configuration and dependency set must remain consistent. Re-download the matching client profile or server archive.
The world behaves differently after an update
Stop the server, make a complete backup of the world and configuration, and record the old pack version. Test the new release on a copy of the world before replacing the live instance. Keep the old archive available so you can roll back if a mod change damages generation or progression.
Backups, updates and routine maintenance
- Stop the server cleanly before copying world and configuration files.
- Keep multiple dated backups, including at least one copy outside the server machine.
- Save the exact LL5 and Minecraft versions with each backup.
- Review logs for repeated errors after restarts, not just during an outage.
- Schedule updates when no one is playing, and require every client to update together.
- Remove old logs and unused archives only after confirming that a current backup exists.
Because LL5 is described as outdated by the Modpack Index, do not assume that a newer Minecraft release is compatible. An update is safe only when the LL5 project provides a matching server pack and the required Forge version.

Whichever route you choose, the dependable baseline is the same: verify the current LL5 manifest, use the matching server archive, run Java 17, start with at least 6 GB of server memory and keep every player on the identical client release.
