To host The Kingdom of Daldar, run the Modrinth pack for Minecraft 1.16.5 on Forge, install the server-side files from its .mrpack archive, copy the pack overrides, and allocate roughly 6–8 GB of memory. The server and every connecting player must use the same pack version, Minecraft version, and Forge build.
The Modrinth listing examined for this guide showed version 1.1.1 and supports both client and server play. Pack versions and hosting-panel listings can change, so select the current release from Modrinth’s Versions tab before downloading anything.
Confirm which Daldar pack you are installing
Several similarly named downloads exist, and mixing their files is a common cause of failed launches. The standard Kingdom of Daldar pack covered here is the Modrinth distribution targeting Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge. A separate pack called Daldar Redux has different server requirements, while a Technic listing describes another version of the pack.

Use the exact Minecraft and Forge versions recorded in modrinth.index.json, rather than assuming every 1.16.5 Forge build is interchangeable.

Daldar Redux is not the same server
Daldar Redux contains mods that cannot run on a server. Its world-generation setup also requires level-type=terraforged in server.properties before the first world is generated. Do not apply that setting to the standard pack unless the current Redux documentation specifically calls for it.
Do not combine Modrinth and Technic files
A Technic distribution is described as a different pack version. Its launcher files, loader settings, and installation procedure may not match the Modrinth release. Choose one distribution and keep every player and the server on that distribution.
Choose self-hosting or a managed host
Both approaches can run the pack. Self-hosting gives you direct control over files and updates; a managed host handles the machine and usually provides a panel with a one-click pack installer.

For a small private group with a spare machine and someone comfortable with Forge files, self-hosting is the most controllable option. A managed host is simpler when you need a public address, continuous uptime, or do not want to administer the operating system.

Requirements before installation
Hardware and memory
There is no official RAM specification published by the pack author in the available material. Hosting providers commonly suggest about 6 GB as a minimum, 7 GB or more for friends or a public server, and 8 GB for steadier operation. Treat those as host recommendations, not a guaranteed performance standard.
Leave memory for the operating system and other services. Giving a machine all of its physical RAM can cause swapping and make the server less responsive. A community example for one to six players used a 12 GB machine with Java memory set to a 6G minimum and 10G maximum on an Intel Xeon system with four 4 GHz threads. That is an example configuration, not a requirement for every world.
Software and files
- The current Kingdom of Daldar
.mrpackfrom the Modrinth Versions tab. - The Minecraft and Forge versions named in that pack’s
modrinth.index.json. - A clean server directory with enough disk space for the pack, generated world, logs, and backups.
- Permission to install software and open the server’s listening port through the machine firewall and, if applicable, your router.
- A client installation using the identical Daldar release and Forge build for testing.
Install the server from the Modrinth .mrpack
An .mrpack is a zip-based pack archive. It contains an index and download references rather than necessarily embedding every mod jar, so extracting the archive alone does not complete a server installation.
- Select the release. Open the pack’s Modrinth Versions tab and download the release you intend to run. The version number 1.1.1 was the latest one observed for this guide, but check the tab again because releases can change.
- Inspect the archive. Make a copy of the downloaded file, rename the copy from
.mrpackto.zip, and open it with an archive utility. Locatemodrinth.index.json. Record the Minecraft version and the complete Forge version specified there. - Create a clean server folder. Use a new directory rather than an existing vanilla or differently modded world. Keeping each pack in its own folder prevents old jars and configurations from being loaded accidentally.
- Install the matching Forge server. Download Forge for the Minecraft version and build recorded in the index, then use the installer’s server-installation option and select your new server directory. Forge installer screens and commands can vary by build; follow the instructions included with the exact installer instead of substituting a command for another version.
- Resolve the pack’s file entries. Read the
filesentries inmodrinth.index.json. Each entry points to a downloadable file and identifies its environment. Download the entries needed on the server into the server’smods/directory. Entries marked client-only are for the player’s installation and should not be placed on the server. - Copy overrides. Copy everything inside the archive’s
overrides/directory into the server root, preserving subdirectories and filenames. If the archive containsserver-overrides/, copy its contents as well. Merge folders rather than replacing the whole server directory, so the Forge installation remains intact. - Check the resulting layout. The server root should contain the Forge launch files, a
mods/folder with server-compatible jars, and any configuration, scripts, resource, or data files supplied by the overrides. Do not leave the mod jars nested inside an extra folder created during extraction. - Start once and accept the EULA. Launch the Forge server using the generated Forge server launcher. It will stop if the Minecraft EULA has not been accepted. Open
eula.txt, change onlyeula=falsetoeula=trueafter reviewing the license, save the file, and start the server again. - Wait for world creation to finish. The first launch creates configuration files and a world and can take considerably longer than later starts. Do not terminate the process while it is actively writing world data.
- Test with a matching client. Install the same Daldar release, Minecraft 1.16.5, and Forge build in a client launcher. Connect locally first, confirm that blocks, recipes, dimensions, and mod features load, then test from another machine before inviting players.
Configure the first world and server settings
Use the correct world-generation setting
For the standard Kingdom of Daldar pack, leave world-generation settings at the values supplied by the pack unless its current documentation says otherwise. For Daldar Redux, set level-type=terraforged in server.properties before the first world generation. Changing that value after a world already exists does not retroactively regenerate terrain and can produce a world that does not match the intended setup.

Set access and gameplay options
Stop the server before editing server.properties. Set the server name, difficulty, game mode, whitelist, and operator permissions according to your group. If you change the world name or generation settings, make a backup first and understand whether the change affects a new world only.
Make the server reachable
Allow the configured server port through the host firewall. A server behind a home router also needs a port-forwarding rule to the machine running Forge, and players must use the public address rather than the computer’s private LAN address. If local connections work but outside players cannot join, check the firewall, router rule, and the address you gave players before changing mods.
Choose a practical memory allocation
Start with the smallest allocation that gives the server headroom, then watch the console and latest.log while several players explore. The following figures reflect host guidance and a community example, not a published Daldar specification.

Do not infer that increasing RAM fixes every form of lag. A server can have free memory and still be limited by CPU time, disk speed, a faulty mod, or too many chunks being simulated.

Troubleshoot failed starts and poor performance
OutOfMemoryError in latest.log
Confirm that the server is actually using the memory allocation you intended and that the machine has enough physical RAM left for the operating system. Raise the allocation to at least 8 GB if the machine can support it, then restart and test the same workload. If the error persists, note which world, dimension, or action preceded it; repeatedly increasing memory can hide a mod or configuration problem.
Mixin, ClassNotFoundException, or immediate Forge crashes
These errors commonly indicate that the loader, Minecraft version, pack release, or mod set does not match. Recheck the versions in modrinth.index.json, remove jars copied from another pack, and make sure client-only files were not installed on the server. Rebuild from a clean directory rather than trying to repair a mixture of old and new configuration files.

Players cannot connect or are rejected during login
Verify that the client has the same Daldar version and Forge build and that its required client-side mods are present. A network timeout points toward the address, firewall, router, or host availability; a mod-list or registry error points toward a pack mismatch.
Tick lag or slow exploration
- Reduce
view-distanceto 8 inserver.propertiesand restart the server. - Pre-generate the playable area with the Chunky mod so exploration does not force expensive terrain generation during peak play.
- Run the
/sparkprofiler while the lag is occurring, then inspect which mod or activity consumes the most server time. - Reduce simultaneous chunk loading, automation, entities, or other known workloads identified by the profile before adding more memory.
World looks wrong after changing pack versions
Stop and back up the world before any downgrade or upgrade. Modpack updates can alter registries, recipes, terrain, or dimensions. Test a new copy of the world first and keep the old server folder available for rollback. Never overwrite the only backup with a world produced by a different pack release.

Use a managed host with one-click installation
Several commercial Minecraft hosts list The Kingdom of Daldar with one-click installation. Their panels generally let you select the pack and an available version, click Install, and then start the server. The exact version offered can lag behind Modrinth, and listings, memory limits, locations, and prices change.
- Choose a plan with enough RAM for the expected player count; use the 6–8 GB guidance as a starting point, not a guarantee.
- In the game or modpack installer, search for The Kingdom of Daldar and verify that the listed Minecraft and Forge versions match the release you want.
- Install the pack into a new server instance. Do not install it over an existing world until you have a backup.
- Open the file manager after installation and verify the pack version,
mods/, configurations, and world-generation settings. - Set the whitelist, operator permissions, server name, and any required network or panel settings.
- Connect with a client using the same Modrinth release and Forge build. If the panel offers only a different release, either use that exact release on every client or install the desired version manually if the host permits it.
Ask the provider which backups, file access, resource limits, migration tools, and support coverage are included. Do not assume that a one-click installer supplies Daldar’s newest release, automatic rollback, uptime guarantees, or DDoS protection; those features vary by provider and were not established for individual listings.

- Back up before every update: stop the server cleanly, copy the world and configuration folders, and label the backup with the pack and date.
- Record the working versions: keep the Daldar release, Minecraft version, Forge build, Java setup, and memory allocation in a short server note.
- Update in a staging copy: duplicate the server, apply the new pack version there, and test login, world loading, dimensions, recipes, and major machines before touching the live world.
- Keep client files aligned: publish the exact pack version and loader build to players rather than telling them to update independently.
- Watch logs after restarts: review
latest.logfor missing dependencies, repeated warnings, and memory errors while the server is quiet. - Protect administration: use a whitelist for private play, grant operator access only to trusted users, and avoid running unrelated services under the same operating-system account.
- Plan disk capacity: world saves, backups, logs, and generated chunks grow over time. Remove obsolete backups only after confirming that a separate recovery copy exists.
Recommended decision
For maximum control, install the current Modrinth .mrpack manually, match its Forge and Minecraft versions exactly, omit client-only files, copy both override directories, and begin with about 8 GB of RAM if your machine allows it. For the least administration, use a managed host’s one-click installer, but verify the offered pack version and inspect the resulting files before players join. Keep Daldar Redux and the Technic distribution separate from the standard Forge 1.16.5 server.
