Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
To host Solo Leveling: Reawakening, choose one supported release, download its matching Solo_Leveling_Reawakening_Server_Pack.zip, install the same Minecraft version and loader on the server and every client, and run the pack on Java 17 for the 1.20.1 Forge build. Use Regular World for a shared multiplayer progression world; Story Mode is organized around one designated story player. Self-hosting gives you control but requires maintenance and networking work. CurseForge Servers offers a managed route when the selected pack is supported, with no manual uploads or port forwarding according to its guide.
Choose the compatible release before installing anything
The most important hosting decision is the exact Minecraft-and-loader pair. The server, server pack, client profiles, Java runtime, and dependencies must all belong to that same pair. Do not combine the 1.20.1 Forge files with the 1.21.1 NeoForge files.

The project describes itself as a fan-made progression mod for Minecraft Forge 1.20.1 and also lists a 1.21.1 NeoForge release. The mod page and modpack page were showing active downloads in 2026 (2,448,349 for the mod and 1,785,484 for the modpack when checked), but download totals do not replace the compatibility checks above.
Use a complete modpack for a group
You can assemble the individual mod, loader, and dependencies yourself, but a complete modpack is less error-prone for multiplayer. Its server pack is intended to provide the server-side files that correspond to the published client pack. Every player still needs the matching client installation.

Base-game requirement
Each player needs Minecraft Java Edition for PC in the same release used by the server. A Bedrock client cannot join this Java modded server. Verify the edition and regional availability before purchasing or installing the base game.
Get the right Reawakening server pack
- Open the Solo Leveling: Reawakening modpack project on CurseForge and select its Files page.
- Filter or locate the release for your chosen Minecraft version and loader: 1.20.1 Forge or 1.21.1 NeoForge.
- Download the file named
Solo_Leveling_Reawakening_Server_Pack.zipfor that release. Do not substitute a client profile archive or a server pack from the other version. - Record the modpack release number and loader shown beside the download. You will use the same release when creating every client profile.
If the Files page shows multiple server-pack entries, match all of these fields before downloading: Minecraft version, loader family, modpack release, and file name. A similarly named archive for another release is not interchangeable.

Self-hosting: complete setup procedure
1. Prepare the host machine
- Use a machine that can remain online while friends play. A wired connection is preferable for the host.
- Install a 64-bit Java runtime. The documented requirement for the 1.20.1 Forge build is Java 17.
- Create a dedicated folder such as
SoloLevelingServerwith write permission for the account that will run Minecraft. - Keep free disk space for the world, logs, backups, and future pack updates. The project is in active development, so world data can grow and update work can require a second copy.
For 1.21.1 NeoForge, use the Java and loader requirements displayed for that specific release. The cited project information explicitly identifies Java 17 and GeckoLib 4.4.2 for the 1.20.1 Forge build, but does not establish equivalent requirements for every NeoForge release.

2. Install the matching server loader
- Download the Forge installer for Minecraft 1.20.1, version 47.2.0, when using the documented Forge build. For a 1.21.1 server, download the NeoForge installer associated with the selected pack release.
- Run the installer and choose the server-install option, pointing it at the dedicated server folder. The installer should create the loader libraries and launch files there.
- Do not install Forge into a NeoForge server folder or vice versa. If you change loader families, start with a clean folder rather than reusing libraries from the old installation.
The installer’s generated launch script is safer than guessing a jar name because file names vary by loader release. After installation, use the generated run.bat on Windows or run.sh on Linux/macOS when those files are provided.
3. Extract the server pack
- Stop any server process and make a copy of the empty server folder.
- Extract the matching
Solo_Leveling_Reawakening_Server_Pack.zipinto the server folder, preserving the archive’s directory structure. - If the archive contains a nested folder, move its contents up one level only when the pack’s included instructions clearly require it. The launch script, loader libraries, configuration folders, and mods must be visible to the server installation rather than hidden inside an extra zip or nested directory.
- Do not merge files from both supported releases. If you downloaded the wrong archive, remove it and begin with a clean folder.
4. Start once, accept the EULA, and restart
- Run the generated launch script from the server folder. The first launch creates configuration files and normally stops or pauses until the Minecraft EULA is accepted.
- Open the generated
eula.txt, read the license, and change the acceptance value totrueonly if you agree to it. - Start the server again with the same launch script and wait for the console message indicating that the server has finished loading.
- Stop the server from the console with its normal stop command before editing files or making a backup. Closing the window can interrupt world saves.
This is the normal Minecraft server initialization sequence. The Reawakening project pages do not document a special EULA procedure, so check the current server distribution if its generated files differ.
5. Allocate memory deliberately
The Forge installation guide used by Technic advises running the server with an allocated Java memory value. Set memory in the generated launch script or in your host’s server controls, leaving enough RAM for the operating system and other services. A practical starting point is to allocate a moderate heap, observe the server’s performance and garbage-collection pauses, and increase it only when logs or sustained lag show that more memory is needed. Do not allocate all physical RAM: that can make the host swap or become unresponsive.

For a command-line launch, the Java options normally appear before the generated server jar or script, for example -Xms4G -Xmx6G. Use the launch command supplied by your Forge or NeoForge installer rather than replacing it with a guessed jar name. The correct values depend on your operating system, installed RAM, player count, view distance, and the rest of the modpack; the cited project information does not publish a universal RAM number.
6. Configure the world and server properties
- For a world in which several players can progress independently, select Regular World in the mod’s setup or world-creation interface.
- Use Story Mode only when the group intentionally wants one designated main story player. The project describes Story Mode as following one primary story player, so it is a poor fit for an open shared progression server.
- Set the server name, difficulty, player limit, view distance, and other properties in the generated configuration files or the host panel. Stop the server before changing files and restart afterward.
- If you keep Minecraft’s default server port, friends outside your home network generally connect through port 25565. Home hosting may require forwarding that TCP port to the host’s local address and allowing Java through the operating system firewall. Use your router and firewall documentation for the exact interface.
7. Test locally before inviting others
- Launch the server and wait until all mods finish loading without a crash.
- From the same machine, connect using
localhost. From another device on your home network, use the host’s private IP address. - Create or load a test world, verify that Reawakening content appears, and confirm that the selected world mode behaves as expected.
- Only after the local test succeeds should you configure external access and send friends the public address. Never publish your router’s administrative credentials.
Set up every client to match exactly
The Reawakening mod must be installed on the server and on every joining client. CurseForge’s compatibility guidance also requires a mod to match the Minecraft version of the profile; Forge and Fabric are modloaders, not interchangeable mod files. For this project, the loader family must match as well: a Forge 1.20.1 client cannot join a NeoForge 1.21.1 server.
- Install the launcher profile for the exact Minecraft version used by the server.
- Select the same loader family and version. For the documented Forge path, use Forge 47.2.0 with Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Install the same Reawakening modpack release, not merely a similarly named individual mod.
- Allow the launcher to install every dependency included by that pack. On the documented Forge 1.20.1 build, GeckoLib 4.4.2 is specifically listed.
- Launch the profile once in single-player so the client creates its configuration folders, then close it.
- Add the server address and connect. If the client reports a missing mod, wrong version, or incompatible loader, compare its profile with the server manifest before changing random files.
| Item to compare | Must be identical? | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft version | Yes | 1.20.1 on both sides, or 1.21.1 on both sides |
| Loader family | Yes | Forge with Forge; NeoForge with NeoForge |
| Loader release | Yes | Forge 47.2.0 where that 1.20.1 build is selected; the exact NeoForge release for the chosen pack otherwise |
| Reawakening modpack release | Yes | Use the same Files-page release and its server pack |
| Required dependencies | Yes | Include the versions listed by that release, including GeckoLib 4.4.2 for the documented Forge build |

Networking: let friends connect safely
Home-hosted server
Players on your local network can usually connect to the host’s private address without router port forwarding. Internet players need a reachable public address, a firewall rule allowing the server process, and a router rule forwarding the Minecraft port to the machine running Java. Give friends only the public address and port; do not expose the server folder or remote-administration services.

- Cross platform play for up to five players between Pocket Edition and Windows 10
- Revamped touch controls, controller support, and a controller mapping screen
- Enhanced Weather effects! Accumulating snow and more
Reserve the host’s local IP address in the router, or the forwarding rule may break when DHCP assigns a different address. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary port forwarding may not work; in that case, use a managed host or a private networking solution rather than weakening router security.
Access and administrative controls
- Use an allowlist when the server is private.
- Grant operator privileges only to trusted people.
- Keep the server console and Java runtime updated according to the pack’s compatibility notes.
- Back up the world before changing loader, modpack, or major Minecraft versions.
Managed hosting with CurseForge Servers
CurseForge’s hosting guide describes a managed workflow for modpacks that have a matching server pack: choose a supported pack, select its matching server pack, choose a plan and region, and enter the server details. The guide states that CurseForge Servers are powered by Shockbyte and that the process requires no manual file uploads or port forwarding.
- Open the CurseForge Servers flow and select Solo Leveling: Reawakening only if the exact release and server pack are listed as supported.
- Select the matching server pack for 1.20.1 Forge or 1.21.1 NeoForge. Do not choose a client-only file.
- Choose the available plan and region offered for your account and location.
- Enter the server name and other requested details, then deploy.
- Use the host panel to start the server, review logs, set access controls, and share the generated address with clients running the identical pack.
Availability, supported versions, regions, pricing, capacity, and any referral terms can change. The cited guide does not establish a current price or a performance guarantee, so confirm those details in the hosting checkout before committing.

Troubleshoot the failures players see most often
“Incompatible mod set” or an immediate disconnect
- Confirm the Minecraft version on both profiles.
- Confirm Forge versus NeoForge; these are not interchangeable.
- Compare the exact modpack release and server-pack archive.
- Check the loader release, especially Forge 47.2.0 for the documented 1.20.1 build.
- Remove duplicate or manually downloaded mods that are not part of the selected pack, then launch again.
Server stops while loading or reports a missing dependency
Use the Java version required by the selected release. For 1.20.1 Forge, use Java 17 and verify that GeckoLib 4.4.2 is present. Read the first meaningful error in the server log rather than the final shutdown line; it usually names the missing library or incompatible version. Reinstalling the matching server pack into a clean folder is safer than copying individual jars from another release.
The server starts, but nobody outside the house can join
- Test
localhostand the host’s private IP first; this separates a mod problem from a network problem. - Check that the operating-system firewall allows the Java server process.
- Verify the router forwards the configured port to the host’s current private IP.
- Confirm that the router’s public address is actually reachable from the internet. Carrier-grade NAT can prevent inbound connections.
- Check that friends are using the public address, not your private
192.168.x.xor10.x.x.xaddress.
Players have confusing or shared story progress
Story Mode is centered on one designated story player. For a group in which several people need their own progression, create or convert to a Regular World and make a fresh backup before changing world settings. Explain the choice to players before they invest time in a save.
An update breaks an existing world
The author warns that the project is in active development and recommends backing up important worlds before updates, particularly across major versions. Stop the server, copy the entire world and configuration folders to separate storage, record the old loader and pack versions, and only then test the update on a duplicate. If the new release fails, restore the backup with the original version rather than repeatedly opening the only copy.
A safe update and backup routine
- Announce maintenance and stop the server cleanly.
- Copy the world, server configuration, and a text record of the current Minecraft version, loader, modpack release, and Java version.
- Download the new matching server pack; never overwrite the only working copy.
- Install the update in a separate directory and test a copy of the world.
- Have one or more clients update to the same profile and connect before updating the whole group.
- Keep the previous server directory until the new release has been stable and a fresh backup exists.
Backups should be stored somewhere other than the server’s main disk when possible. A backup that shares the same failing drive or is overwritten during an update is not a reliable recovery point.
Recommended setup decision
For the clearest, best-documented route, select Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.2.0, Java 17, GeckoLib 4.4.2, and the matching Reawakening server pack. Choose Regular World for a normal multiplayer server. Self-host when you need direct file and configuration control and can manage networking and backups. Choose CurseForge Servers when you want the hosted workflow described by its guide and the exact pack is supported in your region. Whichever route you choose, success depends on one rule: server and clients must use the same Minecraft version, loader, modpack release, and dependencies.
