Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
For the supported Solo Leveling: Reawakening build, use Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47.2.0, Java 17, and GeckoLib 4.4.2. Install the matching server pack on the host and the identical modpack and dependencies on every player’s client. Choose Regular World for an open shared server; Story Mode is organized around one main story player.
You can run the server on your own computer for maximum control, or provision it through CurseForge Servers for managed uptime, backups and simpler friend onboarding. The steps below cover both approaches, including version matching, world setup, sharing, costs and fixes for the most common connection failures.

The exact software stack you need
Do not start with an arbitrary client profile or a different Minecraft release. The cited Reawakening build is designed for this version matrix:
| Component | Required target | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft | 1.20.1 | The server pack and its mods are built for this game version. |
| Mod loader | Forge 47.2.0 | The loader must match the pack’s server and client files. |
| Java | Java 17 | The host needs a compatible Java runtime to launch the Forge server. |
| Library dependency | GeckoLib 4.4.2 | Required by the cited Reawakening build; a missing or different dependency can stop startup or joining. |
| Server files | Solo_Leveling_Reawakening_Server_Pack.zip | A prepared server pack contains files intended for multiplayer deployment. |
The latest server-pack release listed on the researched CurseForge project page is dated August 11, 2026. Check the project’s current Files and Additional Files sections before downloading, because a newer pack may supersede that listing.
#1 Best Overall
The project page explicitly says the mod must be installed on both the server and every joining client. A client-only installation cannot connect to a server running the pack, and a server-only installation leaves vanilla or differently modded clients incompatible.
Choose the correct world mode for multiplayer
Regular World: the default for a shared server
Select Regular World when several people should explore, fight and progress in the same persistent world. It is the mode described by the pack guide as the better choice for an open multiplayer server.
Story Mode: designed around one main story player
Story Mode follows one main story player. That structure can produce confusing progression when several friends expect independent campaigns, so use it only when the group deliberately wants a single protagonist and understands the resulting rules.
Option A: self-host the server
Self-hosting costs no recurring hosting fee, but the machine owner is responsible for installation, network reachability, updates, backups, security and keeping the computer online. Use a dedicated directory rather than mixing server files with a personal Minecraft instance.
1. Install Java 17 on the host
Install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime on the computer that will run the server. Open a terminal or command prompt and verify that the system reports Java 17 before attempting to launch Forge. If another Java release is the default, configure the server start script to use the Java 17 executable or adjust the operating system’s Java selection.

2. Download the matching server pack
From the Solo Leveling: Reawakening project, obtain the server-pack ZIP for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge. Use the file identified as Solo_Leveling_Reawakening_Server_Pack.zip, not an ordinary client profile export. Server packs are assembled specifically to reduce the manual work of creating a multiplayer installation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3. Unpack into a dedicated directory
Create a folder used only by this server and extract the ZIP there. Keeping the world, configuration, logs and mods together makes backups and later updates safer. Avoid placing the directory inside a cloud-synchronized folder that may lock files while the server is running.
4. Run the included Forge setup and start files
Use the Forge installer or start script included with the pack. On the first launch, the server creates its configuration and world files. Read the generated output for missing Java, loader or dependency errors instead of repeatedly restarting a failed process.
5. Accept the Minecraft EULA
The first run normally creates an EULA file. Open it, review Minecraft’s terms, change the acceptance setting as required by those terms, save the file and launch again. The server will not complete startup while the EULA remains unaccepted.
6. Configure server.properties
Stop the server before editing this file. Set the server name or message of the day, difficulty, view distance, simulation distance, whitelist behavior and online-mode behavior for your group. Lower distances can reduce workload on a heavily modded world; higher values expose more terrain but increase processing and bandwidth demands.
Rank #3
- Use a recognizable server name so players can distinguish it from other profiles.
- Enable the whitelist before inviting people if the world is private.
- Keep online-mode enabled for a normal authenticated Java server unless you have a specific, understood reason to change it.
- Grant operator privileges only to people who administer the server.
Restart after changing settings and confirm the console reports the intended values.
7. Install the identical client profile
Every player should create a CurseForge profile for the same Reawakening release and install its complete dependency set. The profile’s Minecraft version, Forge version, mod versions and libraries must correspond exactly to the server. Do not add experimental mods until the basic connection works; even an extra client-side or server-side file can trigger a mod-list mismatch.
8. Make the server reachable
For players on the same local network, give them the host computer’s local address and the port shown by the server. Players connecting over the internet need a reachable external address and any firewall or router rule required by that network. Share connection details privately, and never publish an unprotected administrative console.
9. Test with one player, then invite the group
Start the server, wait until it reports that it is ready, and join from one correctly configured client. Test movement, world saving and a restart before inviting everyone. Record the working address, port, pack version and Java/Forge stack so you can reproduce the setup after an update.

10. Back up the world and configuration
Stop the server cleanly before copying the world folder, server.properties, whitelist and operator files, and the server’s configuration directory. Keep at least one backup away from the host machine. Test that a backup can be restored to a separate directory; an untested copy is not a recovery plan.

Option B: use CurseForge Servers
CurseForge Servers provides a managed route for supported modpacks with matching server packs. Its 2026 support documentation describes a workflow in which you select a modpack and server pack, choose a plan and region, enter server details and purchase. The service is powered by Shockbyte. CurseForge says the hosted path avoids manual file uploads and port forwarding for supported packs.
Provisioning steps
- Open the CurseForge Servers flow and select Solo Leveling: Reawakening only if the exact server pack you need is listed as supported.
- Select the matching server-pack version rather than a similarly named client file.
- Choose a region close to most players to reduce latency.
- Select a RAM/player tier, enter the server name and other requested details, then complete provisioning.
- Wait for the panel to show the server as ready. If provisioning stalls, verify the selected pack and consult the host’s provisioning status and troubleshooting information before creating another server.
- Use the generated address, direct share link or import code to distribute the connection profile.
Published plan prices and capacities
These figures are the prices published by CurseForge Support in 2026. They are recurring monthly prices, not one-time purchases, and availability can vary by region or later plan changes.
| Plan | Published price | Memory | Shared CPUs | Listed player range | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Iron | $12/month | 4 GB | 2 | 1–5 players | Small groups using a moderate pack load. |
| Gold | $24/month | 8 GB | 3 | 6–15 players | Larger groups or heavier mod usage. |
| Diamond | $36/month | 12 GB | 4 | 16–25 players | The largest listed group tier in that support table. |
More mods and more simultaneous players generally increase memory use. Start with a tier that covers your expected group, then watch the host’s resource metrics rather than assuming the smallest plan will remain sufficient.
Let friends install the matching profile
After provisioning, CurseForge can provide a direct link or import code. A friend who opens it in the CurseForge app receives the server profile, modpack and connection information, then installs the matching files before joining. This avoids sending a ZIP manually, but it does not remove the requirement that the client and server versions agree.
Self-hosting or managed hosting?
| Decision factor | Self-hosted | CurseForge Servers |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | No hosting subscription; you provide the computer, power and internet connection. | Published tiers run from $12 to $36 per month, depending on memory, CPU allocation and listed player range. |
| Setup effort | You install Java, unpack the server pack, configure files, handle firewall/router access and maintain backups. | The provider provisions the selected pack and region; no manual upload or port forwarding is advertised for supported deployments. |
| Control | Direct access to world, configuration, logs, scripts and update timing. | Control is mediated through the host panel and its supported-pack catalog. |
| Reliability | Depends on your computer, power, network and maintenance schedule. | The host keeps the service online, while you still need to manage pack choices, permissions and recovery decisions. |
| Friend onboarding | You send the current address and port and explain how to install the exact profile. | A direct link or import code can add the profile, pack and connection details in the CurseForge app. |
| Scaling | You choose hardware and can tune settings, but upgrades are your responsibility. | You can select a larger published tier when RAM or player demand grows. |
Choose self-hosting when file-level control and avoiding a monthly fee matter more than convenience. Choose managed hosting when the group values quick setup, a selected region and easier client distribution.

How players join successfully
- Install the Java edition launcher and the CurseForge app used for the pack.
- Import or create the exact Solo Leveling: Reawakening profile selected by the server owner.
- Confirm that the profile’s Minecraft and Forge versions match the server pack.
- Allow the profile to finish downloading every listed dependency, including the required GeckoLib version.
- Launch that profile, choose Multiplayer, and enter the owner’s current address and port, or use the hosted server’s share link/import code.
- If the server is whitelisted, give the owner the player name exactly as it appears in the authenticated Java account.
A successful handshake should reach the world without a missing-mod, wrong-version or authentication error. Keep the working profile unchanged until the owner announces an update.

The server will not start
- Verify that the host is actually using Java 17, not an older or newer default runtime.
- Compare the server’s Minecraft, Forge and dependency versions with the required stack in the table above.
- Make sure the server-pack ZIP was extracted completely and that the included installer or start script is being run from its directory.
- Read the first meaningful error in the console or log. Repeatedly restarting usually hides the original cause.
- Remove only files you can safely regenerate, and keep a backup before changing world or configuration data.
A client reports a mod-list mismatch
Export or inspect the server’s installed mod and dependency set, then make the client profile identical. The usual causes are a different pack release, a missing library, a different Forge build or an extra mod added to only one side. Reinstalling the complete matching profile is often safer than replacing individual files.
The world loads but progression feels wrong
Check whether the world was created as Story Mode or Regular World and review the server rules you selected. Story Mode is centered on one main story player; Regular World is the documented choice for an open group world. Changing modes after a world has progressed may not retroactively reorganize its saved progression, so test the intended mode on a fresh backup or test world first.
Friends cannot connect
- Confirm that the owner is sharing the current address and port, not an old value from before a restart or network change.
- For self-hosting, check the host firewall and the router’s reachability rules required by your network.
- For CurseForge Servers, verify that provisioning has completed and use the panel’s current address or share link.
- Have each friend launch the imported or installed profile rather than an unmodded Minecraft instance.
- Check the whitelist name and online-mode expectations if the server rejects a player before loading the world.
Hosted deployment selected the wrong files
Stop the deployment, check the selected server-pack version and compare it with the project’s Files and Additional Files entries. CurseForge documents separate troubleshooting for a wrong server pack and for provisioning that does not complete; follow the panel’s recovery path rather than uploading a client profile over the existing installation.
The server becomes slow as more people join
Watch memory and CPU use in the host panel or operating-system monitor. Reduce view distance or simulation distance in server.properties if those settings are contributing to load, and consider a larger managed tier when the published memory allocation is consistently exhausted. Make a backup before changing performance settings or updating the pack.
