The fastest way to host a Rebirth of the Night server is a one-click installation from a Minecraft host that supports the pack. For full control, download the official SERVER zip from the pack’s CurseForge Files tab, run the included Forge server files for Minecraft 1.12.2, and give every player the identical pack version. The latest release seen for this guide is Rebirth of the Night 3.3.4 for Forge 1.12.2, dated February 2, 2026; verify the Files tab because releases can change.
What Rebirth of the Night server hosting requires
Rebirth of the Night (RotN) is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.12.2. A multiplayer server is not made by copying a client installation and pressing Start: the server needs the pack’s separate server distribution, a compatible Java runtime, enough memory, and a network endpoint that your players can reach.
- A matching game and modpack version: the server and every client must use the same RotN release and Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge base.
- The official server files: CurseForge publishes separate files whose names identify them as server packs. Download the current SERVER zip rather than the regular client profile.
- A machine or host: this can be a managed Minecraft host, a home computer, or a rented virtual/dedicated server.
- Memory: published recommendations vary substantially. Treat them as planning ranges, not an official requirement.
- A Java runtime and launch method: no authoritative Java version was identified for RotN, so check the pack’s own readme or the current server-pack files before choosing one.
The server-pack downloads reported for older releases are large: approximately 735.56 MB for version 3.3.2 (dated November 14, 2025) and 777.50 MB for version 3.2.2 (dated August 2024). Leave additional disk space for the unpacked files, Forge libraries, logs, backups, and the generated world.
Choose between a managed host and self-hosting
Your first decision is operational rather than technical. A managed host supplies the machine, network access, control panel, and usually a pack installer. Self-hosting gives you direct control of files and updates, but you are responsible for the operating system, firewall, backups, and uptime.

Host pricing and resource tiers were not established here, so compare current plans directly if cost is your deciding factor. Do not choose a plan only by its advertised player count; RotN’s memory demand depends on the world, loaded chunks, and concurrent players.
Option A: install RotN on a managed host
Panel labels differ, but the workflow is consistent: create a server, select or import the exact RotN release, allocate resources, start it, and have clients install that same release.

- Create a Minecraft server in the Akliz Command Center.
- Start the server so the panel provisions its files.
- Install the same Rebirth of the Night version in the CurseForge launcher on each player’s computer.
- Use the connection address shown by the panel to join.
Akliz documentation shown for this pack also describes full server-file access over FTP. That is useful when you need to inspect logs, upload a configuration, or replace a file, but stop the server before making changes that affect loaded mods or world data.

- Open the host’s pack importer.
- Search for Rebirth of the Night in the CurseForge catalog exposed by the importer.
- Select the exact release you intend to run and import it.
- Review the generated configuration and memory allocation, then start the server.
- Install that identical release in the client launcher before connecting.
Importers can expose several historical files. Check the version number in the selected pack and in the server console rather than assuming the first result is current.

MTXServ workflow
- Open the control panel’s installer.
- Search for Rebirth of the Night.
- Click the install action for the desired version.
- Wait for the files and Forge libraries to finish downloading before starting the server.
- Install the same version for each client and connect with the address supplied by the panel.
Other panels
A hosting page for Rebirth of the Night is listed by BisectHosting, but the specific installation flow was not captured. Other search listings mention ScalaCube, OUIHeberg, DedicatedMinecraft.host, and StickyPiston; availability, versions, and installation steps should be confirmed in each provider’s current panel. Treat a listing as an availability lead, not proof that a particular release is one-click installable.
Option B: self-host the official server pack
Self-hosting is a file-management task followed by ordinary Minecraft server administration. The exact filenames can change between pack releases, so use the launch script and readme included with the server zip instead of copying a command from an unrelated Forge guide.
1. Select the correct SERVER download
- Open the Rebirth of the Night project’s Files tab on CurseForge.
- Filter or search for the release you want.
- Choose the file explicitly identified as a SERVER pack.
- Check that the Minecraft version is 1.12.2 and that the release number matches the client profile you will distribute.
- Keep the downloaded zip unchanged as a recovery copy.
Search results have shown several generations at once, including a 3.3.4 server pack reference on a 2.77.5 listing, a 3.3.2 Server Pack listing, and a 3.2.2 server pack. Those mixed listings make the version check especially important: confirm the file’s own title, release number, and date before downloading.
2. Prepare a clean server directory
Create a dedicated directory for RotN rather than unpacking it into another Minecraft server. Extract the SERVER zip there with a tool that preserves the directory structure. Keep the path simple and avoid storing the world inside a folder that is synchronized or automatically cleaned by another application.
Read the included instructions before launching. A server pack may contain a supplied start script, Forge libraries, configuration files, and a particular folder layout. Do not merge files from a different RotN release into the directory; mixing versions can leave a server that starts but fails when a player joins.

3. Confirm the Java runtime
No official Java requirement was identified for the current pack. Java 8 is commonly associated with Minecraft 1.12.2 modpacks, but that is general platform background, not a RotN-specific declaration. Check the server pack’s readme, launcher notes, or current Files tab for the required runtime, then install that runtime on the machine that will launch the server.

If the server immediately exits, record the first error in the console and check Java compatibility before changing mod files. Installing several Java versions without changing the launch script can leave the server using the wrong one.
4. Launch the included server script
Run the start script supplied in the server pack from the server directory. The first launch may create configuration files, a world directory, logs, and a license prompt. Follow the pack’s own instructions for accepting the Minecraft EULA and for setting the initial server properties; the exact filenames and prompts are not guaranteed to be identical across releases.
Let the process finish its first startup and look for a console message indicating that the server is ready to accept connections. If it stops during mod loading, preserve the complete log before trying another change. The first error in the log is usually more useful than the final cascade of “missing” messages.

5. Allocate memory deliberately
Reported RotN guidance is inconsistent. Search-result snippets cite approximately 4 GB to run smoothly, 6–8 GB for a small group, at least 8 GB, and 10–12 GB for 10 or more players. These figures were not tied one-to-one to an official specification, so use them as a starting range rather than a guarantee.

Allocate only memory the machine can spare after the operating system and other services are accounted for. Starting with a sensible amount and monitoring memory pressure is safer than assigning nearly all physical RAM to Java. If the process is killed or the console reports an out-of-memory condition, stop the server, increase the allocation within the machine’s limits, and check whether another process is consuming memory.
6. Configure network access
For a rented host, use the address and port shown in its panel. For a home server, the machine must be reachable from the internet through your router and firewall. Reserve a stable local address for the server computer, allow the Minecraft server process through the operating-system firewall, and forward the port specified by your server configuration to that local address. Your internet provider may use carrier-grade NAT, which can prevent inbound connections even when router forwarding is correct.
Test locally first. A player on the same network can connect using the server computer’s local address; an external player must use the public address or hostname. Do not publish administrative credentials or panel login details in a community chat.

Install the matching client pack
Every player must use the same Minecraft and RotN versions as the server. Install the pack through the CurseForge launcher, select Minecraft 1.12.2 when prompted, and choose the exact release number used by the server. Do not update one client independently while the server remains on an older release.

- Remove duplicate or manually added mods from the profile unless the pack documentation explicitly requires them.
- Use the server’s address only after the client reaches the title screen without a mod-loading error.
A version mismatch commonly appears as a rejected connection, a missing-mod message, or a disconnect during registry synchronization. Record the server version and the client profile version before troubleshooting anything else.
Updating RotN without breaking the world
Pack updates are coordinated changes, not ordinary client patches. Before updating, stop the server cleanly and make a complete copy of the world directory, configuration directory, and any custom scripts. Download the new SERVER zip from the Files tab, read its release notes or included instructions, and stage it in a new directory when possible.
- Write down the current server and client versions.
- Stop the server and complete a backup while no process is writing world files.
- Install the new server pack in a separate directory or a clearly labeled replacement directory.
- Move only explicitly required server settings or world data, following the pack’s instructions.
- Start the updated server and watch the complete log for migration or missing-mod errors.
- Update every client to the same release before inviting players back.
The most recent release seen for this guide is 3.3.4 for Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge, dated February 2, 2026. That date is volatile: check CurseForge’s Files tab at the time you install or update, because a newer release may supersede it or the listing may be reorganized.
Troubleshoot the problems that stop most RotN servers
The server starts, but clients are rejected
- Compare the exact RotN version on the server with the launcher profile.
- Confirm both sides use Minecraft 1.12.2 and Forge rather than a different game version.
- Check that the client has not added or removed a mod from the pack.
- Read the server console and the client log for the first registry or missing-mod message.
The server stops during startup
- Use the Java runtime expected by the pack’s own instructions; the required version is not officially established in the available documentation.
- Launch from the server directory so relative paths resolve correctly.
- Restore a clean copy of the SERVER zip if files from another release were merged into the directory.
- Save the complete log before changing memory or deleting configuration files.
Players time out or cannot see the server
- Verify that the server process is still running and has reached its ready state.
- Check the address and port displayed by the hosting panel or configured on the self-hosted machine.
- Test from the same network, then from an external connection to distinguish a local configuration issue from an internet reachability issue.
- Review the operating-system firewall and router forwarding rules on a home server.
The server crashes or becomes unusable as more players join
- Compare actual concurrent players with the memory range you selected.
- Watch the console for out-of-memory messages and monitor the host’s remaining system memory.
- Reduce other workloads on the machine before assigning more memory to Java.
- If the problem began after an update, test the backed-up pre-update directory to separate a version problem from a capacity problem.
Operational practices for a dependable server
- Back up before every update: copy the world and configuration while the server is stopped.
- Keep release directories identifiable: include the RotN version in each folder name so you can roll back without guessing.
- Document the connection details: record the address, port, pack version, Java runtime, and memory allocation for the people who administer the server.
- Protect file access: use separate panel or FTP credentials for administrators and do not post them in chat.
- Change one variable at a time: when diagnosing a crash, avoid simultaneously replacing mods, changing Java, and increasing memory.
- Plan for disk growth: the download alone can approach 735–778 MB in the reported older examples, before extraction, libraries, logs, backups, and world growth.
Which hosting method should you use?
Choose a managed host when you want the shortest setup path, do not want to maintain a public-facing machine, or need a panel that handles installation. Choose self-hosting when you already control suitable hardware, need unrestricted file access, or are comfortable maintaining networking, Java, backups, and updates.

Because the available memory figures conflict and no official Java or RAM specification was identified, size the machine conservatively, monitor it during real play, and treat provider estimates as guidance rather than a guarantee.
