You cannot host Prominence II as a supported Fabric 1.19.2 server: its current Fabric releases target Minecraft 1.20.1. A genuine 1.19.2 Fabric installation is Prominence I (Legacy). Choose the pack first, then install the matching server files, run them with Java 17, accept the EULA, allocate RAM, and give every player the identical pack version.
Start with the version decision
The phrase “Prominence Fabric 1.19.2” combines two different pack generations. Prominence II (Hasturian Era) is listed for Minecraft 1.20.1 on Fabric, with both client and server environments supported. Prominence I (Legacy) has a Fabric file listed for Minecraft 1.19.2. They are not interchangeable: a 1.20.1 Prominence II server will not become a 1.19.2 server by changing a launcher setting, and a 1.19.2 client should not be pointed at a Prominence II 1.20.1 installation.

Choose Prominence II when
- Your players can move to Minecraft 1.20.1.
- You want the current Prominence II/Hasturian Era release line rather than the Legacy pack.
- No one in the group depends on a 1.19.2-only client, world, or mod configuration.
Choose Prominence I (Legacy) when
- The group has already prepared a 1.19.2 Fabric client and wants to keep that exact environment.
- The goal is specifically the Legacy content, not Prominence II.
- You obtain the Legacy server files from the same pack release your players install.
The detailed, documented procedure below is for Prominence II on 1.20.1. The available material does not establish a complete, version-specific Prominence I setup procedure, so do not apply Prominence II filenames or assumptions to a Legacy server.
What you need before installing Prominence II
Use one exact pack release
Download server files that correspond to the pack version your players will run. The version number is currently easy to misread: one Modrinth listing shows 3.1.50, while setup guides refer to v4.1.2, v4.0.5, and 3.9.x/4.0.x. Those references conflict and may describe different releases. Select a single current server package from the pack’s official distribution page, record its exact version, and make every client use that same version. Do not combine a server from one release with a client from another.

Use Java 17
Prominence II guides identify Java 17 in variables.txt as the recommended runtime, which matches the Minecraft 1.20.1 target. Install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime on the machine that will run the server. If several Java versions are installed, configure the start script or hosting panel to use Java 17 rather than assuming the operating system’s default is correct.
Prepare an empty server directory
Create a dedicated, empty directory for the server and extract the downloaded server package into it. Keeping the files together makes the included variables file and start script work as intended and prevents an older Fabric launcher or configuration from being picked up accidentally.

Install and start a Prominence II 1.20.1 server
- Download the matching server package. Confirm that the package is for Prominence II, Fabric, and Minecraft 1.20.1. Write down the pack version before extracting it.
- Install or select Java 17. On a self-managed machine, verify that the command used by the script resolves to Java 17. On a hosting panel, select Java 17 in the server’s runtime settings.
- Extract to the empty directory. Do not place the files inside a second nested directory if the script expects to be run from the package root. The directory should contain the supplied variables file and the platform-specific start script.
- Set memory before the first player joins. Open
variables.txtand adjust the RAM value there. Save the file before launching. Guides suggest at least 8 GB for three to four players, with about 1 GB per additional player in one guide; another suggests about 8 GB for roughly six players. These are practical guide recommendations, not official performance guarantees. - Launch the included script. On Linux, run
start.shfrom the package directory. On Windows, runstart.bat. The first run downloads the Fabric server launcher and creates the initial server files. - Accept the Minecraft EULA. The first launch pauses and asks you to type
I agree. Enter that exact response when prompted, then allow the script to continue. If the process exits instead, restart the same script after the EULA has been accepted. - Wait for the initial generation to finish. Keep the terminal or console open until startup completes. Stop the process cleanly using the console’s normal stop command before changing files or restarting.
Configure RAM without overpromising performance
RAM is set in variables.txt, not by changing the Minecraft version. The available guidance is intentionally approximate: one guide recommends a minimum of 8 GB for three or four players and an additional 1 GB per extra player, while another recommends approximately 8 GB for around six players. Treat those numbers as starting points for the specific hardware and player load, not as an official requirement or a guarantee of a particular tick rate.
Practical allocation rules
- Allocate only memory the host machine can spare after its operating system and other services have been accounted for.
- Change the value in
variables.txtbefore startup so the included script passes the setting consistently. - If the process cannot reserve the configured amount, lower the value or move the server to a machine with more available memory instead of repeatedly restarting it.
- Record the value alongside the pack version so you can reproduce a known working configuration after an update.
No published benchmark or official Prominence memory table was found for this setup. Avoid advertising a fixed player capacity based solely on the guide estimates.

Make the client and server match
Prominence II is marked as required on both the client and server. Every player therefore needs the same Minecraft target, Fabric platform, Prominence pack generation, and exact pack version as the server. A player who launches vanilla 1.20.1, a different Prominence release, or the Legacy 1.19.2 pack is not using a compatible client.
Before inviting players
- Write down the server’s Minecraft version and complete pack version.
- Give players the same version information and the same distribution source used for the server files.
- Have each player finish installing and launching the pack once before joining the shared world.
- If someone receives a mod-list or connection mismatch, stop and compare the client and server pack versions rather than deleting random mods.
Do not update the server first and ask players to “catch up” later. Schedule a pack-version change, replace the server files as a coordinated operation, and have every client update to that same release.

Using a managed hosting panel
A managed host can remove much of the file and Java configuration work. For example, Pine Hosting documents a Modpack tab with a one-click installation flow for packs available through Modrinth. In that workflow, select the Prominence II Fabric release that matches Minecraft 1.20.1, choose the exact pack version, and let the panel install the server files. Confirm that the panel’s Java runtime is 17 and review its memory setting before starting.
One-click installation does not remove the version-matching rule. The panel must install the same release your players install, and changing the selected pack later can leave the server and clients out of sync. Save the panel’s displayed version and memory values as part of your server notes.

What to do if you specifically need 1.19.2
Use Prominence I (Legacy), not Prominence II. The Legacy Fabric v1.3 file is listed for Minecraft 1.19.2, but the available material does not document its complete server setup steps or establish that every current Legacy file uses that exact version. Verify the file’s Minecraft version, Fabric status, and release number on the distribution page before downloading.
Safe Legacy decision process
- Confirm that the chosen file is Prominence I (Legacy), not Prominence II.
- Confirm that the file explicitly lists Minecraft 1.19.2 and Fabric.
- Have players install that same Legacy release on their clients.
- Follow the server instructions packaged with that Legacy release rather than copying Prominence II’s filenames or variables.
- Keep the Legacy server in its own directory so its libraries, world, and configuration cannot be mixed with a Prominence II installation.
If the group can move to 1.20.1, Prominence II is the better-documented path in the available material. If 1.19.2 is non-negotiable, treat the project as a Legacy deployment and verify every file against the Legacy release page.

Updating without creating an accidental hybrid server
Pack updates change the files that define the client and server environment. Before an update, record the current Prominence generation, Minecraft version, exact pack version, Java version, and RAM value. Stop the server, make a separate backup of its world and configuration, then install the new server package in a new directory or otherwise preserve the previous installation. Update clients to the same release before reconnecting.
Never solve a mismatch by copying individual mods from a newer pack into an older one. That creates a combination neither release was distributed or tested as, and it makes later troubleshooting much harder. If the update fails, return to the preserved directory and the previous client pack rather than continuing to mix files.
Pre-launch checklist
- The pack is identified as Prominence II or Prominence I (Legacy), with no ambiguity.
- The Minecraft version is 1.20.1 for Prominence II or explicitly 1.19.2 for the selected Legacy file.
- The server and every player use Fabric and the same complete pack version.
- Java 17 is selected for the Prominence II 1.20.1 setup.
- The files were extracted into a clean, dedicated directory.
- The RAM value in
variables.txtwas set before launch. - The included
start.shorstart.batscript is being run from the package directory. - The EULA prompt was completed with
I agree. - The server reached a completed startup before players were invited.
Bottom line
For the current Prominence II experience, host a Fabric server on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Java 17, the pack’s included start script, an explicitly configured RAM value, and clients on the identical pack release. A 1.19.2 Fabric server belongs to Prominence I (Legacy), so use the Legacy files and instructions if that older version is essential. Do not advertise or install a “Prominence II 1.19.2” server as though it were a supported release.
