You can host a Path of Titans community server in 2026 in one of two ways: run the server software on your own dedicated Windows or Linux machine, or rent a managed game server from a provider. Self-hosting gives you more control but makes you responsible for the machine, network, updates, configuration and backups. A provider removes most infrastructure work, but its panel and plan limits determine what you can change.
Before choosing, obtain a full copy of Path of Titans, confirm that your server will follow Alderon’s Terms of Service and Server Hosting Agreement, and decide whether you want to maintain operating-system and network infrastructure. The practical setup sequence is: choose a route, install or provision the server, configure rules and access, add optional mods and integrations, then test administration before inviting players.
Choose self-hosting or a managed provider
Alderon documents both routes in its Community Servers FAQ and server-hosting documentation. The choice is less about a single “best” method than about who will operate the infrastructure.

Choose self-hosting when you already have a suitable dedicated machine, need file-level control, or want settings a provider does not expose. Choose a provider when you prefer a prepared control panel and predictable service administration. Compare the live provider page for region, renewal terms, taxes, slot count and included features before paying; the figures above can change.

Requirements and rules before installation
A full game copy and an authorized server
Alderon states that hosting a community server requires a full copy of Path of Titans. Your server also has to comply with the game’s Terms of Service and Server Hosting Agreement. Read the current terms before opening the server to the public, especially if you plan to moderate chat, use third-party modifications or collect reports.
A dedicated Windows or Linux machine for self-hosting
Alderon’s hosting page specifies a dedicated Windows or Linux machine. The reviewed official material does not publish a current minimum CPU, memory, storage, bandwidth or player-capacity table, so do not buy hardware based on an invented specification. Check the maintained setup documentation and test your intended player load before committing to a machine.
A dedicated machine does not have to be a separate physical box if your chosen infrastructure genuinely provides an isolated Windows or Linux environment, but it must remain available for the server process. A desktop that regularly sleeps, reboots for unrelated work or competes for heavy resources is a poor production host.
Network access
The May 2026 developer blog described port forwarding as part of the then-current self-hosting workflow. You may therefore need a router rule, a host firewall rule and a stable local address. The exact ports and current networking method are version-sensitive; obtain them from the current server package and maintained setup pages rather than copying an old forum post.
Set up a self-hosted server
The Path of Titans Hosting Wiki setup guide provides Windows and Linux instructions, and its overview explains the wider administration sequence. The wiki warns that its setup material is not exhaustive, so use it as a maintained starting point and confirm the current branch and tool version when you install.

Windows workflow
- Prepare a dedicated Windows machine that can remain online for the intended play sessions. Install operating-system updates and create an account with only the permissions the server process needs.
- Download Alderon’s current command-line server tool from the official hosting instructions. Do not rely on an old executable copied from another installation.
- Create a dedicated server folder with a clear backup location. Keep the executable, downloaded server data, configuration and logs organized so that updates and recovery are straightforward.
- Follow the wiki’s update-script pattern. An update script lets you bring server files current without manually repeating every download step; review the script before running it and keep a known-good backup.
- Apply the required firewall and router rules from the current documentation. If the machine sits behind a router, reserve its local address so a DHCP change does not invalidate forwarding.
- Start the server once with a private test name and verify that it creates its configuration and log files. Stop it cleanly before editing files.
- Configure the server name, password, rules, message of the day, administrators, mods and other options, then start it again for an external connection test.
Linux workflow
- Use a supported 64-bit Linux installation on a dedicated host. The wiki notes that its Linux instructions were tested on Ubuntu 22.04; confirm support for your distribution and the current server build before deployment.
- Create a separate service account and server directory. Keeping the game process away from the root account limits the impact of a configuration mistake.
- Use the command-line installation path in the wiki to download and update the server files. Pin or record the tool version used for a working deployment so you can reproduce it after a failure.
- Configure the host firewall and upstream router according to the current server documentation. Open only the required game and administration paths.
- Run a first launch in a terminal or service manager, inspect the generated files and logs, then stop the process before changing configuration.
- Complete the community settings, add administrators and optional integrations, and test a client connection from outside the host’s local network.
Do not treat either guide as a complete security or operations manual. Add a restart policy, monitor disk space, retain recent configuration backups and document who can administer the host.
Provision a managed server
A managed provider avoids running the game process on your own dedicated machine, but you still need to configure the Alderon account and the provider panel. The reviewed Nitrado onboarding guide is an older document, so labels and menu locations may differ in the current interface.

The live product page crawled in 2026 showed a 16-player offer and customizable packages from 10 to 200 slots with terms from 3 to 365 days; verify that those options are still available where you live.
- Generate an Alderon hosting token through the hosting-token workflow associated with Alderon’s server-hosting documentation. Treat the token as a credential: do not publish it in screenshots, chat or a shared configuration file.
- Open the provider’s Path of Titans management interface and paste the token into the designated hosting-token field.
- Save the configuration. The provider guide says the server must then be restarted before the token and related settings take effect.
- After the restart, confirm that the server appears online, set a temporary password and test joining from a separate client account.
- Invite additional administrators only after you understand the panel’s shared-access permissions. Remove access promptly when a moderator leaves your team.
The provider’s 2026 product page advertised server administration, supported mods or plugins, shared access, support, daily backups and DDoS protection. Treat each item as a feature to verify in the live plan, not as a universal guarantee for every region or package.

Not on Alderon Games’ list of Path of Titans server providers (alderongames.com, 11 Oct 2026).
Configure the server safely
For the documented Nitrado file-based route, the configuration file is pathoftitans/PathOfTitans/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/Game.ini. Settings belong under the section header [/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession], with one option per line. The provider’s configuration article was published around 2022; confirm the path, section name and option spelling against your current server version and provider panel.

- Stop the server from the provider panel or service manager. Never edit a live file and assume the process will reload it safely.
- Make a dated backup of
Game.iniand record the change you are about to make. - Open the file in a plain-text editor, locate or create the
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]section, and place each setting on its own line. - Save the file without changing its encoding or adding rich-text formatting.
- Start or restart the server, then verify the result in-game. If the server fails to start, restore the backup and inspect the log for a malformed line.
The guide discusses settings for the server name, password, chat, fish and water-related behavior. It also states that MaxPlayers cannot be adjusted through Nitrado and is available only on self-hosted servers. That restriction is provider- and version-specific; compare the current panel and server documentation before designing your community around it.

Build the community layer
Installing the executable is only the beginning. The Hosting Wiki’s overview lists the operational areas that turn a running process into a usable community server:
- Rules: Write concise rules for combat, chat, exploits, grouping and moderator action. Put the essential version in the in-game message of the day so a new player sees it before joining the community.
- Message of the day: Include the server identity, support channel, report method and any scheduled maintenance window. Keep it short enough to read in the client.
- Roles and administrators: Define owner, administrator, moderator and helper permissions. Grant the smallest role that lets each person do their job, and keep an offline owner account for recovery.
- Reports and webhooks: The wiki documents optional Discord webhooks and in-game reports. Test that a report reaches the intended private channel and that your moderators know how to preserve context before acting.
- Mods: Add only mods that are compatible with the current server build and acceptable under Alderon’s rules. Record versions, load order and removal steps; a mod update can be the cause of a startup or connection failure.
- Admin tools: Learn the available kick, ban, messaging and diagnostic commands in a private session. Practice reversing a mistaken action before giving tools to the whole moderation team.
Keep a change log containing the date, operator, setting or mod changed, observed result and rollback method. That simple record is more useful than guessing after a failed restart.
Test before inviting players
- Join from the host machine or provider preview, then from a second device or network. A local connection alone does not prove that router forwarding or an external firewall is correct.
- Check that the advertised name, password, rules and message of the day are visible and accurate.
- Have a moderator test each role, report path and administrative action. Confirm that ordinary players cannot access staff functions.
- Restart the server and verify that settings, mods and permissions persist. A configuration that works only until the next restart is not ready for a public community.
- Trigger a controlled backup and restore test. Confirm that you can recover the configuration without deleting the current working copy.
- Record the server version, tool version, provider plan and date of the test. Repeat the test after major game or mod updates.
Troubleshoot common setup failures
The server does not appear online
Confirm that the process is running, the host firewall permits the current server traffic and the router forwards to the correct local address. Check the server log for a bind or startup error, then test from outside the host’s network. If a provider is involved, verify that the hosting token was saved and that the server was restarted afterward.
Players can connect locally but not from the internet
This usually points to the network path rather than the game configuration. Recheck the router target, firewall profile and whether your internet service uses an additional carrier-grade NAT layer that prevents inbound forwarding. Ask the provider or internet service operator whether inbound hosting is supported before changing game files.

A configuration change has no effect
Stop the server, confirm that you edited the active instance rather than a backup or unused directory, save one setting per line under the correct section, and restart. For a managed server, use the panel’s documented configuration area if it overwrites direct file edits.
The server stops after a mod update
Stop the server, restore the last known-good mod set or configuration backup, and start without the newly changed mod. Add the mod again only after confirming that its version matches the current server build. Keep player-facing maintenance information ready so a rollback does not become a communication problem.
You cannot change the player limit
On the documented Nitrado route, MaxPlayers is not adjustable. If a specific capacity is essential, compare the provider’s current controls with a self-hosted deployment before purchasing; do not assume every panel exposes every server option.
Understand capacity, cost and reliability claims
No reviewed official source supplies an authoritative hardware sizing formula, a guaranteed player capacity for self-hosted machines or an independent hosting benchmark. A stronger CPU, more memory or faster connection may help in practice, but selecting a specification requires testing the current server build and your intended workload.

Do not present package slots as proof that a server will sustain a particular number of active players, and do not treat a sales-page feature list as an uptime guarantee.

What changed in 2026, and what remains uncertain
In its May 2026 developer blog, Alderon described work on self-hosting and NAT punch-through. At that time, the blog said self-hosting required server software, a dedicated machine and port forwarding. It described a longer-term goal in which hosting would be easier, potentially letting a player start a game and invite friends across platforms, while warning that device load could limit weaker hardware.
“With server self-hosting and NAT punch-through we are hoping to make server hosting much more accessible.”
That wording describes work in progress and a goal, not a feature that can be assumed to be available in October 2026. Check a current release note or in-game documentation before replacing the documented dedicated-server workflow with a new invite-based method.

Self-host when control is the priority
- You can keep a dedicated Windows or Linux machine online and administer its operating system.
- You need direct access to configuration files or options a provider does not expose.
- You are comfortable managing port forwarding, firewall rules, updates, backups and recovery.
- You can test capacity instead of relying on an unsupported hardware estimate.
Use a provider when operational simplicity is the priority
- You want a prepared game-server panel instead of installing and maintaining the host software.
- You prefer provider-managed administration, support or backups, subject to the current plan terms.
- You accept that slot counts, file access and settings such as
MaxPlayersmay be restricted. - You have checked the live price, region, renewal policy and mod support for your community.
For either route, start with a private test server, document every change and publish rules before opening the address to strangers. That process prevents most avoidable outages without assuming hardware or provider capabilities that the current documentation does not establish.
