Godlike.Host offers hosted Palworld servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
To host a Palworld dedicated server for crossplay, configure its platform list to include Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac, launch it with -publiclobby for community-list discovery, and allow UDP port 8211 through the host firewall and router. Set the server name and its public address and port as well. Console players commonly find servers through the in-game community list; direct connection and Mac-specific steps are less firmly established, so verify them with a client on each platform before sharing your join instructions.
What you need to know before setting up the server
A Palworld dedicated server is a persistent world that runs separately from a player’s game session. Players connect to that world, and their characters are associated with that server rather than carried freely between platforms or worlds. Crossplay configuration determines which platform groups the server will accept; it does not merge separate worlds or transfer a character from one world to another.

Install the dedicated server and locate its configuration
Install and start the Palworld dedicated server on the machine that will host the world. The configuration file location depends on the server operating system:

Make a backup of the configuration before editing it. Stop the server before changing settings, then save the edited file and restart the server so it can load the new values. If the expected folder or file is absent, confirm that the dedicated server has been installed and launched at least once, and check that you are looking in the server installation’s directory rather than a player’s local game folder.
Enable the platforms you want to allow
Set the CrossplayPlatforms value in PalWorldSettings.ini to the platform list you intend to permit. Third-party guides list the all-platform value as:

CrossplayPlatforms=(Steam,Xbox,PS5,Mac)
For a server limited to Steam and Xbox, the reported example is CrossplayPlatforms=(Steam,Xbox). Removing a platform from this list is the described way to restrict access. The list is an access setting, not a server-browser setting: changing it does not by itself publish the server to console players or open network ports.
Older setup instructions may refer to AllowConnectPlatform. A troubleshooting guide describes that key as outdated and points to CrossplayPlatforms instead. If the server ignores a change, check which key your installed build and current server configuration actually use rather than adding both names and assuming they are interchangeable.

Preserve the file’s existing configuration structure when editing. The value above shows the platform-list format, not a complete replacement for the entire settings file. Avoid deleting unrelated settings while changing crossplay, and restart the server after saving.
Make the server discoverable and set its public address
For community-list discovery, add -publiclobby to the dedicated server’s startup arguments. An example reported for Windows is:
PalServer.exe -port=8211 -players=32 -publiclobbyThis example shows the server executable, game port, player-count argument and public-lobby flag together. The example’s -players=32 is a sample launch argument, not a recommended or guaranteed capacity for every server. Choose the player setting appropriate to your server and hardware; no performance or capacity benchmark is established here.
Also configure ServerName, PublicIP and PublicPort in the server settings. Set a name players can recognize. Set PublicIP to the address they can reach from outside your network, and set PublicPort to the public port used for the listing. An empty PublicIP is identified by one guide as a common reason a self-hosted server does not appear in the list even when -publiclobby is present.

PublicPort describes the external port advertised for the community listing; it is not, by itself, a change to the port on which the server listens. Keep the advertised public port consistent with the port-forwarding and firewall configuration. If you map an external port to a different internal port, verify the mapping and listing behavior rather than assuming the setting creates that mapping automatically.
Open the required network ports
Allow inbound UDP 8211 on the server firewall and, when the server is behind a router, forward UDP 8211 to the hosting machine. This is the game port identified for player connections. Opening TCP 8211 alone is not sufficient: a guide specifically warns that using TCP instead of UDP can leave the server invisible and unjoinable.

A second port, UDP 27015, is listed by one guide as the Steam query port for server-browser visibility. Another guide says it can improve browser visibility but is not needed for a direct connection. The available instructions therefore do not establish it as a universal requirement for every platform or join method.

In both the operating-system firewall and router, the protocol matters. If the router has separate internal and external port fields, forward the public game port to UDP 8211 on the server machine. A firewall rule on the server does not create a router port-forward, and a router forward does not necessarily override a blocked host firewall rule.

Setup sequence from configuration to first connection
- Install and launch the dedicated server once. Confirm that the server files are in place and identify the Windows or Linux configuration path above.
- Stop the server and back up its settings. Keep an unchanged copy so you can restore the previous configuration if the edited file prevents startup.
- Set the platform list. Add the desired platforms in
CrossplayPlatforms, using the reported all-platform or restricted-platform value as appropriate. - Set the server identity and public endpoint. Fill in
ServerName,PublicIPandPublicPortwith values matching how players will reach the host. - Open inbound UDP 8211. Create the host-firewall rule and router forward if applicable. Add UDP 27015 if you are testing Steam browser visibility.
- Add the public-lobby flag. Include
-publiclobbyin the server’s startup arguments, preserving the other valid arguments your server uses. - Start the server and check the result. Allow a few minutes for the listing to appear, then test from an external network or a platform account that will actually join.
- Confirm with each intended platform. Test the community list and connection from Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac individually where available. Do not assume one successful platform test proves every client can see or join the server.
How players on consoles find the server
Console players commonly need the in-game community server list to locate a dedicated server. The reported setup for that path is to launch with -publiclobby, give the server a name, and provide its public address and listing port. Allow a few minutes after startup before concluding that the listing failed.
Guides disagree about whether console players must always use the list or can use another connection method. As a result, give console players the in-game search instructions only after confirming that the server appears to a console account on the current game version. Do not promise direct connection as a universal fallback when the available setup information does not settle that question.
If it appears for Steam but not for a console client, verify that the console platform is included in CrossplayPlatforms, the server and client versions are compatible, and the public-lobby flag and public endpoint are set. Then check UDP 8211 and give the listing time to update. Adding UDP 27015 may affect browser visibility, but the sources do not establish that it resolves all console listing problems.
What crossplay means for Mac and character saves
Mac support
Mac appears in the reported CrossplayPlatforms list, alongside Steam, Xbox and PS5. That supports using the listed value when configuring a server intended to include Mac players; it does not establish a separate Mac-specific host procedure or confirm every detail of Mac client behavior. There are no distinct Mac server paths or Mac-only port steps established here. Test with a Mac client before advertising availability.

Characters and worlds
Crossplay lets supported platforms connect to the same server; it does not move a character between worlds. A dedicated server generally has its own character progression, so a player should expect to create a character for that server rather than bring one over from a separate platform or world. Tell players to select the intended server before investing time in a character, especially if they are switching from an existing solo or co-op save.
Keep versions compatible
Keep the dedicated server and every player’s game on compatible versions. Guides differ on when full crossplay first arrived: one associates it with the 1.0 launch, while another points to v0.5.0. Those conflicting dates are not a reliable basis for deciding which current build supports a particular platform combination. Use the version running on the server and clients as the operational check, and consult current official game information for release-specific compatibility.

Do not switch to that branch merely because an older guide tells you to; first confirm that the instructions match the game’s current version and server setup.
Troubleshoot a server that does not appear or accept players
The server is missing from the community list
- Wait a few minutes after startup, then refresh or search the in-game list again.
- Confirm that the server started with
-publiclobby; a setting in the configuration file does not substitute for this reported launch flag. - Check that
ServerName,PublicIPandPublicPortare set. In particular, an empty public IP is reported as a common cause of a missing listing. - Check the advertised public port against the router mapping and the server’s listening port.
PublicPortadvertises a port and does not itself change the server’s listening port. - Verify that inbound UDP 8211 is allowed by the host firewall and forwarded by the router where needed.
- If browser visibility remains the problem, test with UDP 27015 open as well; guides differ on whether it is needed, and direct connection is described as not requiring it.
The server appears but a player cannot join
- Check UDP 8211 first, including protocol selection. TCP-only access is not enough for the reported game-port requirement.
- Confirm that the player’s platform is included in
CrossplayPlatforms. - Check that server and client are on compatible game versions.
- For console players, test discovery through the community list rather than assuming a direct-connect method is available.
- Check that the public endpoint points to the right host and port. A server can be running locally while its public address or forwarding is wrong.
A setting change has no effect
Stop and restart the dedicated server after editing the configuration. Confirm you edited PalWorldSettings.ini under the active server’s operating-system-specific folder, and that the key is CrossplayPlatforms rather than the older AllowConnectPlatform name. Keep a copy of the previous file so you can revert if the server fails to start.
Admin access and RCON cautions
One guide says that with crossplay enabled, console players cannot be assigned admin actions using a Steam ID. This matters if your moderation process assumes every player can be identified by the same platform-specific ID; establish a workable admin procedure for the platforms in your server before opening it to players.
Instructions conflict about RCON. One guide lists TCP 25575 as essential, while another calls RCON deprecated and recommends a REST API instead. These claims do not establish a reliable universal management setup. Do not open TCP 25575 solely because an older guide lists it as required; verify the current server’s supported administration interface and follow its current security guidance before exposing a management endpoint to the internet.

Pre-launch checklist
- The dedicated server runs and uses the expected configuration file for its operating system.
CrossplayPlatformsincludes the platforms you plan to admit.- The launch arguments include
-publiclobbyif players need community-list discovery. ServerName,PublicIPandPublicPortdescribe the public server endpoint.- Inbound UDP 8211 is allowed through the host firewall and forwarded through the router when applicable.
- UDP 27015 has been considered if Steam browser visibility is important, without treating it as a confirmed universal requirement.
- The server and test clients use compatible game versions.
- A player on each target platform has verified that the server can be found and joined.
- Players know that their server character is separate from characters in other worlds.
- The admin and server-management approach works for cross-platform players and does not expose an unverified management port.
