There are two practical ways to host a Nomifactory GTCEu server: rent a managed Minecraft server that installs the pack for you, or run the official server pack on your own machine. Nomifactory CEu targets Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge, so every player must use a matching pack version and the correct client-side installation.
Managed hosting is the quickest route because the provider handles the Java server environment and pack installation. Self-hosting gives you control over files, configuration and updates, but you must select the correct server-pack release, install the Forge build it specifies and provide enough memory and reliable network access.

What Nomifactory CEu is
Nomifactory CEu is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.12.2. It is a fork of Nomifactory built around GregTech: Community Edition (GTCEu) and related technology and progression mods. The Minecraft version is not interchangeable: a 1.12.2 server should be paired with the 1.12.2 client installation supplied for the same Nomifactory release.
The pack is designed as an expert-style progression experience, although Akliz describes Nomifactory as beginner-friendly within the expert-modpack category. Expect a large collection of mods, long-running automation and world data that can become substantial over time. Plan the server as a persistent save rather than a short-lived test world.

If your priority is getting friends into a world quickly, choose managed hosting. If you need to edit files, test custom configurations or keep the machine under your own control, self-hosting is the more flexible option.
Managed hosting: the quickest setup
Managed providers expose Nomifactory through a Minecraft modpack selector. The labels and resource limits below come from the providers’ listings and should be checked again when you order because pack versions and plans change.

BisectHosting
- Open the Minecraft server selector in the provider’s ordering flow.
- Choose Nomifactory GTCEu from the modpack list.
- Select the server plan and location that fit your group.
- After provisioning, use the panel’s connection details and install the identical Nomifactory version in the CurseForge launcher on each client.
The listing recommends 6 GB of RAM. That is a provider recommendation, not a universal performance guarantee; generation distance, machines, chunk activity and player count still affect the amount of memory your world needs.
CreeperHost
- Create a Minecraft Java server in the dashboard.
- Search the modpack catalogue for Nomifactory.
- Choose the required pack version.
- Click the installation action and wait for the server files to be deployed before starting the world.
The listing shows a minimum of 4,000 MB RAM, a minimum CPU specification of 3 × 4.5 GHz and at least 35 GB of SSD storage. These are listing requirements, not a measured recommendation for every world. Leave additional storage headroom for backups, logs and a growing save.

Akliz
- Create a new server in the Akliz Command Center.
- Choose Nomifactory and let the panel install the pack.
- Start the server from the Command Center and wait for its first startup to finish.
- Install the same Nomifactory version in the CurseForge launcher, then connect with the address supplied by the panel.
The client and server must use the same release. Installing a different pack version, even one that appears nearly identical, can produce missing-mod, registry or world-loading errors.
StickyPiston
StickyPiston lists 6 GB as a minimum and 7 GB as recommended for friends or public servers. Some of its Nomifactory information may be about two years old, so verify that the panel offers the release you intend to run and confirm the current memory policy before purchasing.
Select the correct server-pack release
The official Nomifactory CEu project on CurseForge publishes downloadable server packs. The newest file listed in the supplied material is 1.7.7-server, dated January 5, 2026. A previous file, 1.7.6-server, was uploaded December 24, 2025; its archive is named nomi-ceu-1.7.6-server.zip and is approximately 214.5 MB. Both are labelled for Forge on Minecraft 1.12.2.
Older entries include 1.7.3-server from October 2024 and 1.7a-server from September 2024. Do not select an older archive simply because its filename is familiar. Record the exact file name and date you deploy, and have every player install that same release.
The available material does not confirm a direct download URL for 1.7.7. Use the current server-pack file shown on the official CurseForge project page and read the archive’s included instructions or manifest before launching it.

What is known about GTCEu versions
The GTCEu build bundled with 1.7.7 is not confirmed. Older listings show GTCEu 2.5.4 in a 1.5.2-era release, while a 1.7-alpha-3 changelog entry mentions an update to GT 2.8.* and integration of Nomi Labs. Treat those older references as historical context only. Check the selected archive’s manifest or changelog for the actual dependency versions instead of copying a value from an older release.
Self-hosting: a safe installation workflow
1. Prepare the machine
- Use a machine that can remain online for the hours your group plays and that has stable wired or wireless connectivity.
- Reserve storage for the server files, the world, logs and more than one backup. The 214.5 MB size of the 1.7.6 archive is only the download size; the unpacked installation and world will be larger.
- Plan memory before installation. Provider listings range from 4,000 MB minimum to 6 GB recommended and 7 GB recommended for larger groups. These figures are not a formal Nomifactory benchmark, so leave operating-system memory outside the amount assigned to Java.
- Use the operating system and Java release supported by the Forge build specified in the server pack. The supplied material does not establish the exact Forge build or Java version for 1.7.7, so do not substitute a different build based on a generic Minecraft guide.
2. Download and unpack the official server pack
- Open the Nomifactory CEu project on CurseForge and select the server-pack file you intend to run.
- Verify the release number and upload date against the version your players will install.
- Download the archive to a dedicated server directory rather than mixing it with another Minecraft instance.
- Extract the archive while preserving its folder structure. Keep the original archive until the server has started successfully and you have made a backup.
The server pack is the authoritative source for its mods and configuration. Do not build a server by copying a random client profile; client-only files and missing server files can prevent startup or corrupt a world.
3. Apply the pack’s mode-switching instructions
The project description mentions a pack-mode-switcher script for CurseForge downloads. It is run from the pack root, the directory that contains the /config folder. If your downloaded files include that script, read its included instructions and run it from that root directory. Running it from the wrong folder can leave the configuration in the wrong mode.
4. Install the specified Forge build
Nomifactory CEu is a Forge pack for Minecraft 1.12.2, but the exact Forge build for each server-pack release must come from that release’s files or documentation. Follow the installer and launch instructions included with the archive. Do not assume that the latest Forge build for 1.12.2 is compatible, and do not copy a launch command from a different Nomifactory version without checking its files.

5. Configure memory in the supplied launcher
Server packs commonly include a start script or an equivalent launcher configuration. Set its Java memory values according to the pack’s instructions and the machine’s available RAM. As a planning guide, 6 GB is the figure recommended by BisectHosting and listed as a minimum by StickyPiston; CreeperHost lists 4,000 MB as a minimum and StickyPiston lists 7 GB for friends or public servers. These figures describe hosting plans, not guaranteed requirements for your particular world.

Never assign all physical memory to Java. Leave enough for the operating system, file cache and other services, and increase the allocation only after observing actual memory pressure.
6. Start once and read the logs
Launch the server using the script supplied with the selected pack and watch the console or log file. The first run may create configuration files and a world. Stop and correct any missing dependency, Java or Forge error before inviting players. Keep a copy of the clean first-start files so you can compare them after future edits.
7. Make the server reachable
For a home server, configure the host machine’s firewall and router according to your network equipment and the port selected by the Forge/Minecraft launch configuration. If inbound connections are not possible on your internet service, use a tunnel or a hosted machine instead of exposing an untested service. Give players only the address and port they need; do not publish administrative credentials or panel tokens.
8. Test with one client
- Install the same Nomifactory CEu release in the CurseForge launcher.
- Confirm that the client targets Minecraft 1.12.2 and the matching Forge profile.
- Connect with one account before sharing the address with the whole group.
- Join a safe location, open a few inventories and verify that the server remains responsive while logs stay free of repeating errors.

Updates, backups and version changes
Before updating
- Write down the current pack release, server-pack filename and GTCEu/dependency versions shown in its manifest.
- Stop the server cleanly; never replace mod files while the world is running.
- Back up the complete world and the server’s configuration directory. Keep at least one backup away from the machine running the server.
- Read the new release’s changelog and compare configuration changes before starting it against an existing world.
After updating
- Install the new server pack in a separate directory so the previous installation remains available for rollback.
- Apply any mode-switcher or migration step required by the new release.
- Test the updated copy with a backup of the world, not the only live copy.
- Have every player update the client before reconnecting.
If a world fails to load after an update, stop immediately, preserve the logs and restore the previous server directory and backup. Do not repeatedly start a damaged world while changing files; that can make recovery harder.

Troubleshooting common failures
The server stops during startup
Check that the Forge build, Java environment and pack release match the archive’s instructions. Confirm that the mode-switcher was run from the directory containing /config, and look for the first dependency or mod error in the log rather than the final shutdown message.
Players receive missing-mod or registry errors
Compare the client’s exact Nomifactory release with the server’s file name and upload date. Reinstall the matching client profile instead of adding individual mods from an unrelated release.
The server runs out of memory
Check the Java allocation and the machine’s free memory, then reduce simultaneous heavy activity while testing. Move to a plan or machine with more available RAM if the allocation already follows the provider’s guidance and the operating system is under pressure.
Players cannot connect from outside the home network
Verify the server is listening on the configured port, the host firewall allows it and the router forwards it to the correct machine. If the internet service uses carrier-grade NAT or blocks inbound traffic, use a tunnel or managed host.

Stop the server, retain the failing logs, and restore the last known-good server files and world backup. Only retry the update after checking the release notes and testing on a copy.
