To host Frozenopolis, run the Java Edition 1.19.2 Forge server that matches the pack release your friends install. The project lists Frozenopolis-1.0.zip (uploaded July 14, 2023) and a matching Frozenopolis_server_pack.zip for Minecraft 1.19.2 Forge. Download that server pack, install the corresponding Forge server in a dedicated folder, accept Minecraft’s EULA, start the generated Forge launch script, and test locally before opening access to friends.
There is no published Frozenopolis-specific RAM minimum, Java build requirement, or tested player limit. Size the machine by observing your actual world and player load rather than relying on an invented specification.

Frozenopolis requirements at a glance
Frozenopolis is a Minecraft Java Edition modpack targeting Minecraft 1.19.2 with Forge. The client and server must agree on all three compatibility layers: the Minecraft version, the Forge loader, and the Frozenopolis release. CurseForge’s compatibility guidance explains that a modpack profile contains the game version, loader, configuration, and mods; changing one of those components can make the connection fail.

The project describes Frozenopolis as an ice-themed world with icy biomes, frozen lakes, and challenging creatures. Those additions are why a normal vanilla server folder is not enough: the server needs the pack’s configurations, libraries, and mods as well as Forge.

Choose a hosting method
Self-host from a PC or dedicated machine
Self-hosting gives you control over files, backups, updates, and access rules. It also makes you responsible for Java, operating-system permissions, firewall settings, uptime, and the network path between your home and your friends. A spare desktop, server, or rented virtual machine can work, but the Frozenopolis project does not publish a validated hardware profile.
Use managed CurseForge hosting
CurseForge’s official server guide documents a managed flow for modpacks that have a matching server pack. The service handles deployment without manual file uploads or home-router port forwarding. The documented sequence is to select the modpack, choose a plan, select a region, enter server details, and pay.

Before paying, confirm that Frozenopolis appears in the current server picker. Check the current RAM and player guidance for the selected tier, region availability, recurring price, cancellation terms, and any applicable program conditions. Those commercial details can change, and the guide does not establish that every pack is available in every region.

Prepare a self-hosted Frozenopolis server
1. Confirm the Java Edition installation
Install Minecraft Java Edition on the host machine and on every player’s computer. Select Minecraft 1.19.2 in the launcher or modpack manager. A Bedrock account or Bedrock server cannot load this Forge pack.
You also need a Java runtime compatible with the specific Forge build you select. The Frozenopolis project does not name an exact Java major version or a precise Forge build number, so use the Java requirement published with that Forge release and keep the installer and runtime consistent.

2. Create a dedicated server directory
Make a new folder used only for this server. Keeping the installation separate prevents unrelated mods, worlds, and configuration files from being mixed into Frozenopolis. Give the account that will run the server read/write permission to the directory, and keep the folder outside locations that automatically synchronize or clean files.

3. Download the matching files
From the Frozenopolis project’s files, download Frozenopolis_server_pack.zip for Minecraft 1.19.2 Forge. Also obtain the Forge server installer or server files for the same Minecraft version and the release selected by the pack. Do not substitute a client-only download for the server pack; the server pack is the project’s distribution intended for server deployment.
Record the release names before extracting anything. The project listing records Frozenopolis-1.0.zip as its latest listed release, uploaded July 14, 2023. If the project later lists another release, use its corresponding server pack instead of mixing files from different releases.
4. Install Forge in that folder
Run the Forge server setup with the dedicated directory selected as its destination. The installer should place the Forge libraries and generate the launch files needed to start the server. Extract the contents of the Frozenopolis server pack into the same installation as directed by the pack’s file layout; preserve its directory structure so configuration and mod paths remain intact.
Because no exact Forge build or operating-system command is specified for Frozenopolis, follow the launch instructions generated by the Forge installer rather than copying a command from an unrelated version. If the installer reports that Java is unsupported, install the Java version required by that Forge build and run setup again.

5. Start once to generate files
Launch the generated Forge server script or command from the server directory. The first run normally creates the world, configuration, and agreement files and may stop before the world is available. Read the console output; a missing library, dependency, permission error, or Java incompatibility should be fixed before inviting anyone.
6. Accept the EULA only if you agree
Open the EULA file created by the first run and change its acceptance setting only if you agree to Minecraft’s terms. Save the file, then start the server again with the Forge-generated launch script. Never download an EULA file from an unknown source or treat acceptance as optional if you do not agree to the terms.
7. Test locally before remote access
Join from the host machine or another computer on the same local network. Confirm that the Frozenopolis world loads, blocks and entities appear correctly, and the console remains free of missing-dependency or version errors. A successful local join separates pack and Forge problems from router, firewall, and internet problems.
8. Make a baseline backup
Stop the server cleanly, then copy the world and configuration directories to a separate location. Include the pack and Forge version notes with the backup. Keep this baseline before changing mods, configurations, or the Forge build so you can restore a known-good state.
Make the server reachable to friends
After local testing, configure the host firewall and network so incoming connections can reach the server’s listening port. The exact port and operating-system steps depend on the Forge launch configuration, router, and host OS, so verify the port shown by the server and permit that port through each relevant firewall or network device.

- Confirm the server process is running and listening on the intended interface and port.
- Allow the server through the host firewall rather than disabling the firewall completely.
- Check the router or upstream network if friends outside your home cannot connect.
- Give friends the address and port that actually reach your server, and keep the pack, Forge, and Minecraft versions documented for them.
- Use an access list or other server-side controls appropriate for a private group, and do not distribute administrative privileges broadly.
If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT or blocks inbound connections, home hosting may not be possible without an alternate network arrangement. A managed CurseForge server avoids home-router port forwarding according to its guide.
Install the matching client profile
- Install or select Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.2 in your launcher or modpack manager.
- Choose the Forge profile associated with Frozenopolis.
- Install the same Frozenopolis release used by the server, including its configuration and mod files.
- Start the profile once in single-player or at the title screen so the launcher creates its local files.
- Connect only after the client and server show the same Minecraft version, Forge loader, and pack release.
Do not add optional mods to one side only. Even a harmless-looking client or server change can produce an incompatible mod list or handshake error. Keep a copy of the original profile so you can remove an experiment without rebuilding the installation.
RAM and performance: what is and is not known
No authoritative Frozenopolis source publishes a minimum Java heap, recommended RAM amount, or tested maximum player count. The CurseForge hosting guide gives RAM and player guidance for its own paid tiers, but those tier descriptions are not a Frozenopolis benchmark and should not be presented as one.
A practical sizing process
- Start with a machine that meets the selected Forge build’s Java and operating-system requirements.
- Allocate a conservative heap, leaving enough memory for the operating system and Java process overhead.
- Test the actual world with the number of players, exploration, chunk generation, and automation you expect.
- Watch the server console and system memory while players explore and load new areas.
- Increase resources only when measurements show memory pressure or sustained lag, then retest after each change.
Symptoms such as startup failure, repeated garbage-collection pauses, an operating system out-of-memory event, or severe lag during exploration indicate that you should inspect Java compatibility, available memory, and mod errors before simply assigning more RAM. More allocated memory cannot repair a missing dependency or an incompatible Forge build.
Why a player cap cannot be promised
Player capacity depends on the host CPU, storage, Java runtime, world-generation activity, configuration, and the players’ behavior. Since Frozenopolis has no published capacity test, advertise only the number your own repeatable test supports, and label it as your environment’s result rather than an official limit.

Troubleshoot common failures
“Incompatible mod list” or handshake errors
- Compare Minecraft versions: both sides should be 1.19.2.
- Compare the Forge loader and exact build selected for the server.
- Compare the Frozenopolis release, including
Frozenopolis-1.0.zipif that is the release you chose. - Compare the server-pack contents with each client’s mod and configuration files.
- Remove any extra or missing mod, then restart both sides.
The server stops during startup
Read the first meaningful error in the server log, not only the final shutdown line. Check Java compatibility, missing dependencies, duplicate mods, directory permissions, and available memory. If the log identifies a particular mod or library, restore the matching file from the server pack instead of downloading an arbitrary replacement.
The world or configuration becomes corrupted after an update
- Stop the server cleanly and do not keep launching the damaged installation.
- Restore the world and configuration directories from the pre-update backup.
- Confirm that the restored files use the same Minecraft, Forge, and Frozenopolis versions.
- Apply one release or configuration change at a time and test after each change.
Friends cannot connect while local testing works
Verify that the process is listening on the intended port, the host firewall permits it, and the router or upstream network forwards traffic correctly. Test from a network outside the host’s local connection. If the network uses carrier-grade NAT or blocks inbound traffic, use a network arrangement that provides reachable hosting or choose the managed route documented by CurseForge.
Updating safely
Do not replace the pack or Forge files while the server is running. Announce a maintenance window, stop the server, and create a fresh backup of the world and configurations. Read the target release notes, update the server and every client to the same release, and test with a copy of the world first. Keep the previous installation intact until the new one has loaded successfully and players have confirmed that their builds and inventories are present.
If an update fails, return to the previous folder and backup rather than repeatedly changing files in place. Mixing an old world with a different mod or configuration set can make recovery harder.
