Honey Sprite does not heal you in Fortnite. In a Zero Build match, its reported effect is a chance to spawn bees at the location you hit with a ranged weapon. To restore health or shields, find a Water Sprite, equip it, and throw it near the players who need recovery. The throw creates a healing fountain that affects nearby players.
Honey Sprite cannot restore health or shields
The name causes confusion because both Honey Sprite and Water Sprite are part of Fortnite’s Sprite system. They have different powers, however. Honey Sprite is an offensive utility: according to Beebom’s October 15, 2026 guide, damaging an opponent with a ranged weapon gives you a chance to spawn bees at the location that was hit. It is not a Med Kit, shield item, healing item, or substitute for Water Sprite.

Epic’s Chapter 6 announcement identifies Water Sprite as the healing Sprite. When thrown, it creates a fountain that restores health and shields to nearby players. Epic describes the effect but does not publish a fixed healing total, duration, or radius in the cited announcement, so do not rely on an assumed number of points or seconds.

| Sprite | Purpose | How you activate it | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Water Sprite | Recovery | Equip it and throw it near yourself or teammates; the impact creates a healing fountain. | Its cited description does not specify a guaranteed healing amount, radius, or duration. |
| Honey Sprite | Offensive pressure | Use ranged damage; each hit has a chance to spawn bees at the struck location. | It does not restore health or shields. |
In practical terms, carry Water Sprite when your plan is to recover after a fight. Carry Honey Sprite only when you want its bee-spawn combat effect and still have ordinary healing and shield resources available.

How to heal with Water Sprite in Zero Build
These steps assume a normal Battle Royale Zero Build playlist in which Sprites are enabled.
- Queue for an eligible playlist. Enter Battle Royale Zero Build rather than a competitive mode that disables Sprites. Epic’s support documentation says Sprites can be found and equipped during a match for a special Sprite Power, but competitive modes may make them unavailable.
- Search for Water Sprite. Do not stop at the first Sprite you see. Confirm that the item is Water Sprite; Honey Sprite will not create the healing fountain.
- Equip the Sprite. Put Water Sprite in an available inventory slot so you can use its power when a fight ends or a teammate needs recovery.
- Choose a safe throwing position. The fountain helps nearby players, so throw it where you and your squad can remain inside the affected area without exposing yourselves unnecessarily. A position behind cover is generally safer than dropping it in the open, but the source material does not establish a specific radius or cover requirement.
- Throw Water Sprite. Activate the item and throw it near yourself or the teammate who needs health or shields. The impact creates the fountain.
- Stay in the fountain while it helps. Remain within its area long enough to benefit, moving only when the storm, an opponent, or another immediate threat makes staying dangerous. Because Epic does not publish a healing total or exact duration in the cited description, watch your health and shield bars rather than timing an assumed cycle.
- Resume normal item management. Keep Med Kits, Med-Mist, shield items, or other recovery options for situations in which the fountain is unavailable, too exposed, or insufficient. Water Sprite is an additional power, not a replacement for every healing item.
Can you use Sprites in Zero Build?
Yes, ordinary Battle Royale Zero Build can allow Sprites when that playlist’s current rules include them. Epic’s support page describes finding and equipping Sprites during a match, while also warning that Sprites are unavailable in competitive modes. Playlist rules can change with seasonal updates, so check the mode selection and in-game item availability if you cannot find one.
If no Sprite appears
- Confirm that you selected a noncompetitive Zero Build playlist.
- Check whether a seasonal rule or current loot-pool change has removed Sprites temporarily.
- Do not infer that Honey Sprite is present simply because another player is using a different Sprite power.
- Use your standard healing and shield items until you find an eligible Water Sprite.
Where to find Honey Sprite
If your goal is Honey Sprite’s combat effect rather than healing, Beebom’s current Fortnitemares 2026 guide lists several possible routes. These are seasonal, third-party recommendations, not a permanent Epic drop guarantee, so the live loot pool takes precedence.

Reported acquisition methods
- Smash Pumpkin chests.
- Search regular chests and rare chests.
- Enter Trick or Treat Cheat Codes.
- Use the Lucky Locator or Cheat Code Locator Gizmos.
- Trade with friends.
- Take the chance of a drop from eliminations or bosses.
Reported search areas
The guide recommends Nightmare Neighborhood and also names Golden Grove, Cluster Coast, Shaken Sanctuary, Heatwave Harbor, Stone Sanctum, and Green Hill Zone. Treat these locations as a route for the Fortnitemares 2026 loot pool, not as an all-season map rule. If a location’s chests or NPC inventory do not produce Honey Sprite, rotate through another listed area or use a different acquisition method.
Honey Sprite levels and variants
Beebom lists the following chance for the base Honey Sprite to spawn bees when its ranged-damage condition is met. These percentages are third-party, update-sensitive figures; Epic’s reviewed official pages do not publish Honey Sprite-specific percentages.
| Honey Sprite level | Listed chance to spawn bees |
|---|---|
| Level 1 | 5% |
| Level 2 | 6% |
| Level 3 | 7% |
| Level 4 | 8% |
| Level 5 | 10% |
The same guide lists these Honey Sprite variants: Base, Cheat Master, Gold, Loot Hacker, Bounty Hunter, and Trick or Treat. The cited material does not establish a complete perk-by-perk comparison for those variants, so a variant name alone should not be treated as proof that it heals, grants shields, or has a particular percentage.

How Sprite progression and banking work
Epic’s support documentation says Sprites level through exploration, eliminations, and surviving the Storm. Higher levels provide stronger perks and better loot. This progression is separate from the basic distinction between Water Sprite healing and Honey Sprite offense: leveling Honey Sprite does not turn it into a healing item.

Bank a Sprite for later matches
- Find and pick up a Sprite during a match.
- Travel to an Extraction Site.
- Defend the pickup while the extraction timer runs.
- Complete the timer to bank the Sprite in your Collection for use in future matches.
Epic’s v41.00 notes state that a Sprite is banked to the Collection after you reach an Extraction Site and defend it until the timer finishes. If you are eliminated before banking it, the Sprite remains on the battlefield for another player to pick up. Banking therefore creates a future-use record; carrying a Sprite in one match does not automatically guarantee that it survives an unsuccessful extraction.
Using the fountain safely in Zero Build
After winning a fight
Throw Water Sprite from cover immediately after the engagement, when your squad can pause and remain in the fountain. Keep a teammate watching the approach while the others recover. Leave the area if a new enemy push or storm movement makes the healing position unsafe.

During a retreat
Use the fountain only when the squad has enough separation to stay nearby. Throwing it while sprinting through open terrain can advertise your position and may provide less value than reaching hard cover first.
For a teammate
Place the fountain close enough for the injured teammate to enter without forcing them into the enemy’s line of fire. Since the cited Epic description confirms nearby restoration but does not specify the exact area, judge placement by the visible fountain and the teammate’s changing health and shield bars.
When the fountain is not enough
Switch to your conventional recovery inventory if the teammate remains in danger, the effect ends, or the squad cannot stay within the area. Honey Sprite cannot fill this gap; its reported bee effect is tied to ranged damage rather than recovery.

Common mistakes and fixes
“I threw Honey Sprite and nothing healed.”
That is the expected result. Honey Sprite is not the healing Sprite. Find and equip Water Sprite, then throw Water Sprite to create the fountain.
“I cannot find Sprites in my match.”
Check the playlist first. Epic says competitive modes may disable Sprites. If you are already in an eligible Zero Build mode, seasonal loot changes may explain the absence, so use normal healing items and verify the current mode rules.
“The fountain appeared, but I left immediately.”
The fountain restores nearby players, so leaving its area reduces the opportunity to benefit. Reposition only for a concrete threat, and place the throw in cover when possible.
“I lost my Sprite after being eliminated.”
A Sprite is not banked until you defend it at an Extraction Site through the full timer. Epic’s v41.00 notes say that elimination before banking leaves it on the battlefield for another player to steal or pick up.
“A higher Honey Sprite level should heal more, right?”
No. Higher Sprite levels can provide stronger perks and better loot, but the documented Honey Sprite power remains an offensive bee-spawn effect. Water Sprite is the healing choice.
Quick decision guide
- You need health or shields: Find Water Sprite, throw it near the squad, and stay in the fountain while it is safe.
- You want extra pressure after ranged hits: Use Honey Sprite, understanding that its listed effect is a chance to spawn bees at the hit location.
- You are in a competitive mode: Expect Sprites to be unavailable under Epic’s support guidance.
- You want to keep a Sprite for future matches: Take it to an Extraction Site and defend the timer before you are eliminated.
- You cannot verify the current seasonal loot pool: Treat Fortnitemares locations and drop routes as temporary and rely on the live in-game rules.
What to remember
There is no Honey Sprite healing method in Fortnite Zero Build. Honey Sprite’s reported power is a chance to spawn bees when ranged damage lands. Water Sprite is the item that creates a healing fountain for nearby health and shields. Sprites can be equipped in eligible matches, progressed through play, and banked at Extraction Sites, while competitive modes may disable them.
