To unlock the ARC Raiders Outpost, complete the three-stage Sheltered Retreat project: photograph a farmland house near Ruined Homestead on Blue Gate, turn in 3 Planks, 5 Sheet Metal, 10 ARC Alloy, and 3 Advanced Electrical Components, then deal the required damage to flying ARC enemies and a Bully. After the unlock, the Panoramic, Timeless, and Chalet rooms each have a reported recipe of 3 Steel Cables, 20 Sheet Metal, and 3 Cable Strippers. Check the live project or upgrade menu before spending materials: the Outpost arrived in the October 8, 2026 Frozen Trail 2.0 update, and these recipes and loot routes may change.
What you need to unlock the Outpost
The Outpost is unlocked through the Sheltered Retreat project, not by gathering materials alone. Dot Esports’ guide, last updated October 8, 2026, describes three stages. Finish them in order; the material turn-in is only the second stage. If you are preparing for the unlock, keep the photo, building-material delivery, and combat objectives distinct: completing one does not remove the other requirements.

For the photo stage, the target is a farmland house around Ruined Homestead, not just any building on Blue Gate. The camera is an in-game requirement: the guide names Shani as a vendor option and Sizing Things Up as a quest route. If you already have a camera, check the project objective and proceed to the specified area; otherwise, account for getting the camera before treating the photo objective as ready.
The quantities above are the project’s reported turn-in requirements, not estimates of how many items you should carry for a particular raid. The material subtotal is 21 items: 3 Planks, 5 Sheet Metal, 10 ARC Alloy, and 3 Advanced Electrical Components. Keep the two component types separate in your checklist; ARC Alloy comes from ARC enemies, while Advanced Electrical Components are described as Rare and associated with Electrical POIs. Because the Outpost was newly added, confirm the project screen’s current requirements if your menu differs from this list.

Where to find Planks and Sheet Metal
Dot Esports reports that containers can contain both materials, while Industrial points of interest (POIs) are a more reliable place to search. Its named examples are Stacking Yard and Customs House on Riven Tides, as well as residential areas in southern Buried City. Treat these as reported routes rather than guaranteed spawns: the guide does not provide drop rates, and loot can vary from raid to raid.

The simplest route comparison is between searching and buying. An Industrial POI offers a reported chance to look for both Planks and Sheet Metal in one run, but the amount you find is uncertain. Celeste’s reported price is fixed at 3 Assorted Seeds per material, which makes the cost easy to calculate if the items are in stock: buying the 3 Planks and 5 Sheet Metal required for Sheltered Retreat would cost 24 seeds. That calculation covers only those two materials, not ARC Alloy or Advanced Electrical Components.

Buying can reduce dependence on loot for the two building materials, but it does not remove the need to gather the other project items or complete the combat stage. Searching Industrial POIs is the more direct reported route if you want to seek both building materials together; the vendor option is an alternative when you have seeds and find the required stock. Neither route is established as universally faster, safer, or more reliable than the other.
Vendor stock and loot information can change with patches. Check Celeste’s current inventory and the map’s available POIs before building a route around a specific item. The guide does not provide comparative drop rates or a measured route ranking, so there is no sound basis for claiming one location is always fastest. Likewise, the named locations are leads, not fixed spawn guarantees. If a run does not produce the needed quantity, use the project count to see what remains and choose between another search and the vendor option if available.

How to get ARC Alloy and Advanced Electrical Components
The other two project materials have different reported sources. Dot Esports describes ARC Alloy as an Uncommon drop from Wasps, Hornets, and other lower-level ARC enemies. It describes Advanced Electrical Components as Rare items found in Electrical POIs. The contrast matters when planning: one lead is enemy drops, the other is a location category and item rarity.
- ARC Alloy: Fight the listed lower-level ARC enemies and check their drops. The guide does not give a guaranteed drop rate, so plan for more than one encounter if you still need the full 10. Wasps and Hornets are named examples, not the only possible source; the guide also mentions other lower-level ARC enemies.
- Advanced Electrical Components: Search Electrical POIs for the Rare components. The guide does not identify a guaranteed container, spawn, or exact POI, so the location type is the supported lead—not a promise that a raid will produce all three.
For a mixed-material run, the most directly supported strategy is to look for Planks and Sheet Metal at an Industrial POI while also engaging suitable ARC enemies for Alloy, then search an Electrical POI for the components. This is a way to combine the reported source types, not a proven optimal route; the sources do not compare travel time, danger, or yields across maps. If the material you still lack is only one category, it may be more useful to focus your route on that category instead of assuming every run needs to cover all three source types.

It also does not establish whether an Industrial area, an Electrical area, or a particular enemy group is safest. Use the source descriptions as search clues, then let the active project count determine when you have enough. For example, if you have all 10 ARC Alloy but only two of the three Advanced Electrical Components, additional ARC encounters do not address the remaining listed requirement; prioritize the Electrical POI lead instead.
Reported costs for Outpost room expansions
Beebom’s October 9, 2026 Outpost guide lists the following recipe for each of the three room expansions. Costs are per room, not one shared payment for unlocking all three.

For one room, the reported bill is 26 items: 3 Steel Cables, 20 Sheet Metal, and 3 Cable Strippers. If you intend to open all three listed rooms and the same recipe is still shown in your menu, the arithmetic is 9 Steel Cables, 60 Sheet Metal, and 9 Cable Strippers total. That is a useful planning total, not a separate all-room recipe; each room’s cost is listed individually and should be confirmed before you commit materials.

Sheet Metal appears in both the Sheltered Retreat turn-in and the room-expansion recipe, but the quantities are separate progression costs. The initial unlock asks for 5 Sheet Metal; each room is reported to ask for 20. Do not treat the unlock’s five pieces as covering a room expansion as well. If you plan to pursue both, add the costs only after checking which upgrades you actually intend to make and what the live menu currently requests.

The listed recipe does not establish where to find Steel Cables or Cable Strippers, so do not assume the Planks and Sheet Metal route also supplies those items. If you plan to expand more than one room, multiply the per-room amounts only after checking the live upgrade menu; the guide’s counts are reported recipes and can become outdated. The evidence also does not establish whether the three rooms unlock in a particular order or whether they offer different benefits, so choose based on your in-game options rather than assuming one is a prerequisite for another.
Research Station requirements
The Arc Raiders Workshop upgrade reference lists the Research Station’s Level 1 recipe as 3 Mini Pumps, 35 Planks, and 5 Battered Paperbacks. This is a separate cost from the Sheltered Retreat unlock: the Outpost’s initial project asks for 3 Planks, while the listed Level 1 Research Station recipe asks for 35. The 35 Planks are not a continuation of the initial project’s turn-in; they belong to a different upgrade.

Before depositing scarce components, open the Research Station in the Outpost and inspect the next level’s exact recipe. The live screen is the most useful confirmation of what your current progression actually requires; avoid farming a partial or older list as if it covered every level. The reference supplies three specific items for Level 1, but it does not establish a complete shopping list for later levels, nor does it give dependable acquisition routes for every specialized part.
The named later-level components—Skulker Targeters, Bully Fragmenters, and a Frigate Inductor—are useful names to recognize if they appear in the station’s menu. Research points are not the same as an upgrade recipe
Frozen Trail 2.0 was reported as released on October 8, 2026, adding the Outpost, Research Bench, expandable modules, and lootable furniture designs. Older workshop guides may therefore omit these systems or describe a progression path that predates the update. The date matters because the Outpost and its upgrade systems were new content, and a guide published before that update may not answer questions about the new recipes.
In a September 24, 2026 GamesRadar+ interview, executive producer Aleksander Grøndal described a research system in which players find items containing research points and use those points to choose research, including some blueprints. That description concerns choosing research; it does not provide a material recipe for the Research Station’s levels. Use the station’s own upgrade menu for upgrade costs, and distinguish those costs from research-point choices.
In practical terms, there are two different questions: what materials upgrade the Research Station, and what research choices can be selected using research points. The interview description addresses the latter system at a high level, while the Workshop reference gives one station recipe. Do not assume research points replace the listed Mini Pumps, Planks, or Battered Paperbacks, and do not treat an upgrade cost as a research-point requirement.
