Kanzashi is tied to New Game+ (NG+), so you cannot obtain it during your first playthrough. Finish the main story, start NG+ with your clear data, and check your weapon inventory as you progress. Sources disagree on whether the sword appears immediately or after a later event with Brad, so do not treat either timing as certain.
How to unlock Kanzashi
- Finish the main story. The guides describe story completion as the prerequisite for the NG+ route.
- Start New Game+ using your clear data. AppMedia describes NG+ as beginning again with clear data carried over and lists Kanzashi as NG+-exclusive. AppMedia’s post-clear guide (Japanese) covers the unlock and carry-over details.
- Check your weapon inventory, then continue the story if Kanzashi is missing. Nerd’s Chalk says it is added automatically when NG+ begins, while the unofficial weapon database places acquisition at a later event where Brad hands it over. The available guides do not settle the exact timing.
The sources agree that NG+ is required, but differ about when within that run the sword is awarded. No reviewed official help page or patch note confirms the precise moment. Avoid looking for an unreported hidden chest, optional boss, or side quest: the cited guides do not list one as a requirement.
What Kanzashi does
The unofficial Kanzashi weapon database lists base Attack 27 and the effect “Robes of Reincarnation,” which creates a light barrier that slowly restores HP. Its listed duration increases with enhancement:

These are values reported by the fan-made database, not independently tested figures. It also lists Power 3 for +2 and Power 5 for +3.

How NG+ relates to Reincarnation+
Reincarnation+ is described by AppMedia as an NG+-only difficulty. The guide says enemy attack increases according to the number of loops. That difficulty setting is separate from the basic Kanzashi requirement: the cited unlock guides require entering NG+, not choosing Reincarnation+ specifically. AppMedia’s guide includes its description of the mode.
Why reports differ on the award moment
The Kanzashi database gives a specific sequence: finish the story, start NG+, then progress to Brad’s hand-off event. Nerd’s Chalk instead says the weapon enters inventory automatically when NG+ starts. Both identify the first playthrough as insufficient, but neither source establishes a definitive current-build timing. Treat the Brad event as a useful cue if the sword has not appeared, rather than a confirmed requirement for every version.

For general game context, Game Freak director Kota Furushima described the PS5 action RPG’s combat as Emma using real-time sword actions while Koo uses command-triggered skills in PlayStation Blog’s launch announcement. That announcement does not specify Kanzashi’s unlock condition.
